Why buy an iPhone 6 when an xperia Z not z1, z2,Z3 can give you all you need in a phone? Anyway all pockets are not equal. As you see me so I Don learn how to barb my own hair, I can't spend £12 a week on a haircut. My point is cut out unnecessary spending. |
The new trend of employers in Nigeria setting stringent and sometimes impractical employment criteria, has increased in recent years. Just yesterday Oando advertised for its graduate trainee program and the criteria to be met included ;being younger than 25 years,a bachelors degree, having a minimum of 5As in WAEC e.t.c . If one factors in the number of years wasted in writing Jamb(evidence of a failing education system), years wasted by industrial actions of University lecturers and years to complete an average engineering degree(5 years), then one will begin to comprehend the dire situation. Unfortunately, NBC just gave a new definition to stringent employment criteria by adding a new clause of a Masters degree for a graduate program to the usual unreasonable clauses. Most graduate positions around the world ,only require a bachelors degree and Msc as an added advantage. Yet in Nigeria, employers are working so hard to beat each other in the race of moronic, idiotic and inhuman employment criteria. This begs the question, why is this happening in Nigeria? The simplest most obvious reason is the high rate of unemployment. If there were ample job opportunities in the country, the HR managers will find it difficult to fill these positions and thus will reduce the criteria in a bid to attract more applications. It is a simple demand and supply curve. Another unique perspective to look at it, is the deteriorated (and continued deterioration) education system in our country. I have come across Mechanical engineering degree graduates that cannot state the Ohm's law, Coloumb's law and some other basic engineering laws. Alternatively the reason for requiring younger graduates maybe to allow ample time for re-training, and also give the company a few years to utilize the efficient years of an employee( usually between 27-45 years of age approximately). Nevertheless, no matter what the cause might be, it goes to buttress the fact that Nigeria is a failed state and only God can save us now. Please add other probable reasons for this current trend and discuss critically |

omenka:Tupac would have been too decent to be in Nigerian politics, both APC and PDP are shameless charlatans. Don't disrespect Tupac please. |
JuanDeDios:I was speaking in general. It is the civic responsibility of a citizen to pay his taxes, and a so called 'man of God's should be a stellar example of a responsible citizen. I agree Oyedepo has no excuse. |
PerfectFortune:Comparing the ebola situation in America with what happened in Nigeria is the fallacy of false equivocation. It is common knowledge that ebola started from a case zero in Nigeria like in America, but there is a difference. 1. American Healthcare system is more robust, better equipped and has a better structure than the Nigerian system. This means the risk of an outbreak is minimal. Nigeria had only Mr.Sawyer and we know what we battled to curtail ebola. 2. The most important factor to consider is that our borders are very porous. This means that there is a risk of illegal entry of ebola infected individuals.. This can only mean that before the government finds out, it might be too late for an effective containment plan. Where as it is more difficult to illegally enter USA from West Africa |
optimumprimus:And you consider yourself educated by reaching a conclusion about Africa, from a faceless forum that is a minute fraction of a country, that is a fraction of the African continent. Is your conclusion logical? |
optimumprimus:And then because of a few posts on a faceless forum, you have lumped all Nigerians and indeed all Africans ad 'a bunch of demonic people unworthy of anything good'. That my friend is a stereotypical statement and infact racist. There are approximately 170million, and the Nigerian population is diverse. The population consists of illiterates, disabled, academics, professionals, musicians, poor, middle class, rich etc. My point is do not generalise. |
JuanDeDios:It is irresponsible for the Nigerian government to tax citizens, only to waste the money on themselves and their cronies. This is highly unacceptable. |
dhammyg:Your argument does not follow and writing in capitals(shouting) doesn't make your assertions. |
