Truckpusher:A minor is not yet fully aware of the implications of his/her actions. Also this girl was damaged by the barbaric forced union with her husband. Can you sleep with a 14 year old girl? If you were a 14 year old girl, how would you feel if a much older man steals your childhood in the name of marriage? |
Oh! Nigeria! I weep for my beautiful country! Our leaders have turned us into objects of ridicule. A fourteen year old girl had no business being married in the first place, and now they want to kill her. I see no future for this country |
rozayx5:When we have good schools, graduates will start companies that really have something to offer. Contrary to what you have been told. Mark Zuckerberg started facebook with what he learnt from MIT,similarly google was a university project from Caltech(I'm not too sure). The point is that the two graduates went to top schools. Even average schools produce graduates that change the world. Who do you think designs the cars you drive? they are graduates and some students. Innoson does not even design cars. They buy their car designs. How many Nigerian mechanical engineers can design are system that will be consistent will relevant safety standards? It's not our fault, our lecturers teach us with outdated textbooks. In FUTO, students still do engineering drawing using boards in the year 2014, and you expect Innoson to take an industry project to FUTO or other Nigerian Universities? When students work on industry projects in school, they learn skills that propel them to greater things. They learn than impossible is nothing and that every equipment no matter how complex, were designed by humans. Quality Education is the only answer to Nigeria's problems including corruption |
phantonce:I have never seen an article in my fields of study, B.eng(EE) and M.sc (Subsea engineering) from a Ghanian University. This should ring an alarm bell in the head of a prospective student that these universities are just like Nigerian universities. The differences maybe that they have better infrastructure and steady power supply. Reaserch is what makes a university . Most Nigerians in my class here in Cranfield University are just interested in getting a degree and coming back to get a job in Nigeria. It can be argued that most of the Nigeria students in the UK on the PTDF and NDDC scholarships, did not merit such awards. So do you expect them to think about changing Nigeria? Do they have the mental prowess for such achievements? The other predominant group, are the students that are here simply because their parents are rich. Again their main goal is to get a degree for the Nigerian job. They are not interested in learning the subject matter, all they want are past question to get a distinction and hurry of to Nigeria to get the jobs reserved for them. Unfortunately, the minority group we so need are the ones that are studying because they want to actually learn from established principles and develop new ideas, but unfortunately they are in the minority. The Nigerians that have the zeal to learn are simply not getting enough opportunity to learn in world class Universities. The few that struggle to get here are retained by the society because they are simply too good to be left to leave. In Cranfield University over 40% of the total population of Msc and Doctoral students are from China on Chinese government scholarship. And that is how Chinese are found in top Universities around the world. Is then a surprise that the Chinese are now considered a force to reckon with? Ironically, the number of Britons studying for Bsc , Msc and PHds is declining sharply. Most of the young highly skilled engineers, professors, doctors and scientists in the UK are not foreigners. Even top universities in UK like Imperial College ,UCL etc have majority of foreign students, despite the fact that school fees for home students are significantly cheaper . Albert Einstein once said that Education is what is left when what was learnt has been forgotten. So in my opinion these factors I mentioned are the contributing factors to our technological comatose. |
The fees is not so much of a problem, increase fees build worldclass universities and start a student loan scheme. When you are done, you pay back your school fees over 10 years. Similarly, most universities here in the UK get their fees from projects done for companies. They research and present practical solutions to real life issues. Nigerian universities are objects of ridicule to say the least Good universities cost money to develop. Ask for funding and not reduction to in fees. Quality education broadens the mind |
Martiyu:You are correct. ABCD base 6 to base 10 is A x 6^3 + B x 6^2 + Cx6^1 + D x 6^ 0. Please note that anything raised to the power of zero is 1 |
barackodam:EE and Msc in offshore technology. Specialising in corrosion engineering |
phantonce:I am actually studying in England and there is no comparison between a Nigerian private university and a standard UK university. I am going to address engineering. A university is addressed by many matrics. 1. Facilities (for example Cranfield University where I study has the facilities that produce full size aircraft turbine engines. 2. The number of patents held by academia and former students of.a university. 3. Industry based projects developed in the university . Most of the gadgets you use, were developed from bachelor, masters and doctoral research works. There is no comparison between a good university even in Russia with the best private university in Nigeria. |
I am willing to teach any topic on mathematics here. I don't mind taking out 30mins everyday from my busy schedule to coach the future engineers and scientists that will move Nigeria to where we need to be. Quote anytime, with a question and I will reply. Thanks. GeneralShepherd. B.eng,M.sc |
I really want to join the Nigerian army now and form a research and development case study group to develop weapons and anti-deterants adapted to Bokoharam. |
Nicely written. I am even more worried that I am studying an Msc in Subsea engineering and oil prices are falling. If the oil prices fall below the cost of production in the offshore industry then I have effectively wasted my money studying Subsea engineering. So sad |
Codedboy95:money for msc in the Uk |
So now that I am in the uk what happens? |
phoneport:Your English is dead |
Collynzo9:Please don't change my comments, I said Nigerian politicans not Northern |
APC or PDP, Nigerian politicians are animals. All of them |
Whatever! Nigeria is a fvcked up country, subsidy or not. APC or pdp it's the same crop. So you guys should do whatever makes you happy. I don't care |
desgiezd:The laws of mathematics in Nigerian politics is different from the universal laws of mathematics for example in River state we saw it, we also saw it in the governor's forum, now Ekiti. Nigeria is a lovely country |
When hooligans govern a country, this is what you get |
The more you practice with past aptitude test questions the better you get. Most aptitude test questions, evaluate basic skills like %diff, fractions, etc. Some are simple like workforce, dragnet, others are multistage ie you will need to solve multiple stages to get your final answer eg SHL and Kenexa speed and accuracy in basic English and/or mathematics is what most aptitude tests assess . Getting familiar with the particular type of question, you are going to be tested on increases your efficiency in the real test. |
Halliburton just acquired baker Hughes, so guys there's hope |
It is not in your interest to make your dog aggresive |
PrinceofParis:Walk ins rarely works, except it is a very small firm. All medium to large companies do no accept walk in cvs. I searched for a job for one year in nigeria before I got my job,so I'm talking from experience. If you are a young graduate just work on your aptitude test skills. Make sure your cv is one page and error free. Also use action verbs to highlight experiences and achievements. That is probably all you need. Shun this cv wizard guy, if you are valuable your cv doesn’t really matter. Most importantly, do not ignore small companies in your target industry. Get experience, the big guns will come for you eventually or you start your own business. |
And your cv will give me a job right? |
Adminisher:You really belive America regards Nigeria as a competitor? What exactly can Nigeria do? Even the oil we have is drilled by Europeans. So tell me what can we do? Nigeria is no competitor to America |
texazzpete:Adversity is the mother of invention, did you know that it took the Germans about 3years to develop long ballistic missiles which in turn took the world to space. You see Adversity and negativity , I see opportunities. This is how a country matures technologicaly. Need drives technology. If you keep buying weapons you'll never do anything yourself, there is no perfect time to start something. It's doable. Military has a big contribution to the development of every major technology. ROVs, Auvs,Internet, Aerospace etc |
fitzmayowa:Why can't we make our own? |
Sometimes I wonder how our leaders think! Adversity has led to the development of all the major great economies. For example world war 2 , revolutionalised aviation industry in western Europe and Russia. Everyday our inept leaders cry wolf over America. What is so difficult in producing guns, missiles and military aircrafts.? We have over 1.5billion tonnes of confirmed iron ore in Nigeria.why always blame America! We have an army of under employed or unemployed engineers, chemists, physists and even project managers that can lead our weapons programme. PDP, APC and all our leaders are dumb. |
Maxmayor:I just did a course on condition base assessment. Studying risk based inspection tomorrow. Lol. Wish you the best |
IDERAWOLE:You and your kind are completely ridiculous and irredeemable. You go about threads on the job section targeting unemployed youth. When you are done scamming these young Nigerians how do you manage to sleep at night? |
twerkjack:Yes because they have the right to freedom of association and worship. And no one takes them seriously |
