Hati13: I don't know the meaning. I don't think that part is Amhargn. He is Gurage, so it could be Guragegn or other Ethiopian language.
Gurages: are descendants of Axumites and speak a Semitic language. They are one of the Habesha people.
Oooh, n i tot he was amhara. He seems to have such a command over the language! Which region belongs to the gurages n how many r they? *** is his wife also a gurage lady?
Nowenuse: genieluv, you really have a lot of time to waste with these assholes.
Imagine a black african talking about grafitti on a bus as a means of bragging about promotion of his ancestral african cultures? When people are bragging of international cultural carnivals, live cultural theatre performaces, national arts, culture and crafts villages and celebrations e.t.c
Gosh, colonialism really dealt blows of no recovery of westernization to the minds of these Kenyan bantus. It's such a pity.
Pls genieluv, allow the Kenyans, mtis, taysermahiri, Jay254, Pissedyagami et al to continue with their 'tea and blanket' parties , that's the best their ugly europeanized minds can carry. No need flogging a dead horse. Thanks
Lol, i have been hearing of TEA N BLANKET PARTIES here, is it a kind of party in Kenya? The name sounds weird n pathetic.
PissedYagami: Wow, Bantus dominating Kenyan government hahahahahahahahahah. Your way of thinking is very sad Government is majorly Kikuyu(bantu), Kalenjin(Nilotes), Probably Somalis and some few others Opp0sition Luo(Nilote), Luhya(Bantu), Kamba(Bantu) and almost everyone else So there is no Bantu and Nilote and wollefa bullshit here. See, you need to liberate yourself from stupidity
Kk nigga. Whatever makes you sleep better at night.
In Uzzyfire's voice, ''Kenya has the best, most promoted n most advanced african culture'', u happy?
Nowenuse: genieluv, you really have a lot of time to waste with these assholes.

Lol. Yaaah, no need flogging a dead horse. Infact, now henceforth i decline engaging them on anything in that regard. Buh these Kenyans better never mention me again or come in way of other africans who r proud of african culture discussing african culture or beauty!
Cos wallahi in sun kara nuna irin halayensu akan magana al'ada, ba xan sharesu ba.
PissedYagami: Her intelligence is questionable. And btw Bantus are the most successful Black ethnicity. All the way from Central Africa to South Africa. They had iron tools, assimilated most of all other non Bantu tribes that were along the way. She needs to know more about Kenya.
genieluv: Lol, i would have gotten there, i reply mentions one after the other.
Holly i am not obsessed with Bantus, i just feel that the bantus being the majority ethnic cluster n owning about 2/3 of Kenyan population should be at the forefront of promotion n advocation of Kenyan cultures. Not Bantus who are the majority looking up to Nilotics n cushites for cultural direction n inspiration. For God's sake, r you bantus not the ones dominating kenyan govt? You guys r in a better position to chart the course of cultural path n promotion for Kenya.
mtis: gal one area Naija cannot compete with kenya is healthy field an i can quote factual data for you..
But this one is for you gal..you did not reply so lem post it again
I think you are obsessed with Bantu tribe an you think Kenya is pure Bantu contry ..that not true an we have told ya so many time..
In this thread there is an Indian Kenyan ,a Swahili Kenyan, a Bantu Kenyan , a nilote Kenyan an probably a cushite Kenyan but you don't wanna see that.it's all about Bantus an their lack of culture
Lol, i would have gotten there, i reply mentions one after the other.

Isahalbash: I totally disagree with you abt d Usman Dan fodio form of Islam been radical here... I have already corrected fresh on dat. The Usman Dan fodio Islam is what most yorubas practice today.
Kk. Buh if the Danfodio kind of islam was the yoruba kind of islam, why did Danfodio still go ahead to kill all the hausa sarkis claiming that they were mixing paganism with islam? Danfodio radically advocated for the purification of northern islam from every form of paganism. This was never the case in yoruba land where paganism was allowed to co-exist with islam
**** where then did this islamic extremism come from to hausa land?
arinzeejikonye, you are such a badass just see the way you embarrassed Nairobiwalker, mtis n other kenyans with hard facts above n dumbfounded them for good. Lol
***now i know that most Kenyans r dumb, they can't even google about what they want to brag against to check the situation in Nigeria before bragging.
>>> I bet you, many years from now if Kenya probably start manufacturing cars, you will see some Kenyans coming to try n brag how they r now manufacturing cars n how apart from them n South africa no other country in Africa does. How pathetic.
Nabhani: The more diverse or cosmopolitan the city the more likely the people that are born and raised there will speak Swahili as their mother tongue. People still speak their native languages though but i think the younger generation are starting speak it less and less.
I'm all for Swahili supremacy so i'm not too fussed
Jay254: It was all about influence as you said.. there were large Kingdoms in the South as compared to Kenya. Inland Kenya didn't trade much with the world hence they couldn't borrow much..
All friend borrowed something from the world.. We we were first unclad untill development of trade... Nigerian traditional cloths must have been borrowed from the Berbers and toaregs or Muslims
Yaaah true.
We in Nigeria /West Africa had numerous Kingdoms & Empires. So, i think this is where we had a comparative advantage over you guys.
**** Buh i heard of a Kingdom in Zimbabwe, buh in South Africa?? Was there?
Another thing is that i don't think one's traditional clothes must be very developed before he takes pride in them. >>> Your fellow Bantu, Fally Ipupa from Congo proved this wrong by flaunting his Bantu culture full scale in his music ELOKO OYO. Have u seen it? I love the music. This song will surely receive nominations this year on african awards.
mtis: We showed her the bull fight, camel race an even donkey race but that don't count..problem with geneiluv is that she stubborn.. One she fixes her mind on something its done.same way she arguing the awesomeness of north naija vs southern naija..so her mind is fixed that Kenyans don't have culture. An that final to her
Ooohh bibi Am i that stubborn n unreasonable? Naaah, i don't think i am
*** Bull fight, donkey n camel race? I think i missed that, buh however, are those really elements of your ancestral cultures?
We are not saying Kenyans had no culture. What we are saying is that you guys do not promote them or take pride in them. N you will agree with me that we are not wrong by saying this.
>>>> yaah the kenyan swahilis, nilotes n cushitics have great cultures n they try to promote theirs buh you Bantus are the majority in the country n you guys do not promote or uphold culture as elements of national pride or identity. If you did, it would have been a different story.
TayserMahiri: All your tribes are either muslim or christian. Now, tell me how you beat our Samburu who still practice their ancient rights
Hahaha, millions of Nigerians are just christian or muslim by mouth but are still heavily traditional n fetish, they still worship deities in shrines. There are thousands of shrines all over Southern n Central Nigeria with millions of worshippers. Lol
****Let's not just go there cos somethings millions of Nigerians still practice in the name of traditional religion appears very embarrassing. I wouldn't like to list them out. You can see that our traditional rulers who are custodians of ancestral cultures n religions are very much around. So, no need to go there.
They were literally unclad.. That's why we keep telling you most of the large tribe have not lost there culture they just adopted something better..
They used animal skin as clothing to cover only the private part.. Trust me if Muslims were the first guys to reach Kenyan mainland, Keny would have had Abig influence from their culture.
Now i see!.
*** So, how come the South african bantus developed better clothes than the rest of you East african bantus?
>>> Some west african tribes were almost unclad as the Kikuyus were, buh they later joined the trend of those who had better clothes. The less civilized tribes were conquered n colonized by the civilized kingdoms n empires. I guess we influenced ourselves in West Africa.
Another thing that helped some of us west africans develop better clothes was the slave trade with Europeans from the 15th century.
Adaeze obazi a Nigerian has been elected as the sexiest woman in Africa and one of the sexiest in the world.

PissedYagami: What percentage of South Africans wear Zulu clothes? And not wearing traditional clothes is not a weakness, as long as someone is not naked we are okay here. Hell, even in China and korea they dont wear their ancient clothes
They may not wear those clothes for everyday affairs buh they promote their cultural festivals, celebrations n heavily depict their culture it in their media. Kenyans keep lagging in every aspect relating to culture. Or can you show me?
Shaytun: It initially suffers from what other nigerian indeginous Startup company suffers from. BAD PR. I don't just understand it do this guys think we are in the 80s or something.
But they are seriously improving on that, their former websites is nothing to write home about, it look like something conjured out of the 70s.
But they now have a twitter, facebook, instagram handle.
PissedYagami: Maasai wear traditional African cultural clothes 24/7, not just for weddings. Is that not culture?
N what is the percentage of the masai to Kenya's entire population? South Africa experienced the highest white settlement n opression in Black Africa yet their cultures r still stronger than yours. So, really, you Kenyans have no excuse. ****Learn to admit your weaknesses, it helps make you a better person (winks)
freshest4live: The problem l have with the North is the radicalized form of Islam they practice. The form of Islam that is against western education and promoted by Usman Dan fodio, is what leaves them lagging behind, afterall the British has been away for the past 50 years now. Take a look at Dangote, he is an example of what the educated core Northerner can become, the northerners had great empires then and the potential to unleash their talents but they have put themselves behind. The economy and media would continually be controlled by southerners until the core north begin to embrace education and not just Islamic education alone. Illiteracy is also the reason why many are prone to kill at the slightest provocation in the name of religion.
I will never dispute with what you said cos it is very correct. The kind of islam Danfodio promoted in the core-north was a very destructive one n the negative effects are seen today.
**** The core-northern leaders themselves r now seeing the negative effects of their stupidity n extremism n are trying to educate their people massively like you see in Gombe n Kebbi states. Some still want to continue keeping their people in backwardness like Zamfara state. Buh there was a recent conference of northern governors n leaders on how to revolutionize education in the north. I hope it yields positively.
Jay254: My dear just get out of that village of yours and explore the world..
Show me an everyday cloths dressed by South Africans, Zimbabweans, Namibians or guys from Botwana. Not those dancing clads but everyday cloths..
South Africans, Zimbabweans e.t.c still do traditional weddings n all manners of traditional festivals. Their tradition also never leaves their music, can't you see that they have produced some of the greatest african singers that represent african culture? The likes of Miriam Makeba, Black Mambazo, Chaka chaka, Brenda fassie e.t.c
****please, no basis of comparison between them n you guys.
Hati13: The Tigray Ashenda was held in Tigray regions and Agew Ashenda was held in Sekota, Wag Hemra zone(Amhara region).
I never in my life attended it. In fact, it was 2 months ago that I went to Shekota for the 1st time. I have fallen in love with that place, so I will attend the event this year(less than 2 months).
Yes, they are independent ethnic groups. They are the one who built the 11 monolithic rock-hewn churchs of Lalibela. It's a one of the 9 UNESCO heritage sites. They are Cushite people. There are 4 Agew languages(3 in Amhara region and 1 in Eritrea).
They were the original inhabitants of northern and central Ethiopia and also Eritrea before the coming of Semites around 2000 BC.
Axumites and their descendants Abyssinians(Amharas and Tigrays) DNA is predominantly Cushite and it's the Agew who contributed more for that Cushite DNA than any other Cushites.
So, we can say:- • Amharas are majority Agew/Semite mixs among other backgrounds of other Cushites/Omotes/Nilots • Tigrays are majority Agew/Semite mixs among other backgrounds of other Cushites/Omotes/Nilots
Even the Ethiopian Jews(Bete Israeli or Falashas) are majority Agew/Hebrew mixs and Judaism convert Agews.
Most of the northern and central Ethiopia was under Agew like I mentioned above, but now there areas is relatively very small and their population is also small because most of them either been Amhara or Tigray.
Nowadays, most of the Agews have also mixed with Amharas and Tigrays. For example, my mother is Agew, but she has also Tigray and Amhara backgrounds. Agew are a very proud people and I'm very proud of my Agew background.
3 Agew people exist in Ethiopia. They don't have their own region, but 2 of them has their own Zones in Amhara region and 1 has it's own Wereda in North Gondar zone, Amhara region. - Wag Hemra Zone, Amhara region - Agew Awi zone, Amhara region - Quara Wereda, North Gondar zone, Amhara region.
The last pic is Lalibela church(you should definitely visit it).
Splendid. Great explanation. Gosh! I am so jealous of you Ethiopians for your rich n preserved history. I don't think Nigerians know anything about our history up to 2,000 years ago. We can only rely on the artefacts, folktales n speculations. Lol
**** what language is currently the closest to Agew? How similar is Agew language to present day Habesha languages? It also seems like the Agew are 100% rural? Are there still elements of Agew culture in present day Habesha culture?
>>>> The church looks beautiful wow. Buh am a bit confused here How can the church be 2,000 years old? When did christianity reach Ethiopia?
Really the quality of this man's automobiles beat me.
****Why is this brand not really promoted by Nigerians? Some Nigerians are saying Innoson himself is not advertising his automobiles enough to appeal to the masses. What do u think?
Maduawuchukwu: You just spoke the truth. Nigerians are in the habit of telling lies thinking that we are protecting our interests not knowing that without being truthful we can't identify problems and find solutions
Listen the below women empowering song. It's an Ethiopian song named "abet" and sang by "Yegn Band". The band was formed by 5 women in 2005(2013). All of them are in their 20s.
- "Yegn" is an Amharic word which means "ours". Our Band in English.
- "abet" is also an Amharic word which means "what".

Marcelo290: On a more serious note I find most of your comments very funny, you need to do more of reading than hearsay, and we ain't fighting dear. Now let me school you a bit cos you are ignorant of some things you say here.
You firstly need to ask yourself which route the colonists used to enter the Niger area, it was through the sea. And Lagos is surrounded by water, what does that tell you? they navigated through the Atlantic Ocean, some landed in Lagos, while others through the river in Lokoja. Lord lugard administered Northern Nigeria where he was in charge before the almagamation with southern Nigeria from Lokoja, you can visit the said place presently on mount Parti in Lokoja Kogi state and see things for yourself.
Lagos was the route through which slaves were transported cos of the sea, so this was one of the earliest places the whites settled and controlled other regions from there, so what do you expect from such a place? most economic activities like trade, which comprised of agricultural products was transported and facilitated by Lagos cos of its closeness to the sea, Lagos was now annexed in 1861 and made the capital of the then Southern Niger area.
I speak with facts and not hearsay, do more of reading and research.
I am not disputing anything you said.
**** N whatever you are saying here doesn't really change the fact about what i said, does it? There is a song that says ''count your blessings, name them one by one n it will surprise you what the lord has done'' lol
One way or the other, capitalship of Lagos still favoured Southerners so much irrespective of the circumstances that led to it. Everything happens with a reason.
Yaaah, we can say it happened for a reason buh Lagos was still the capital even 31 years after the British left. So it no longer had to do with the british again anymore for decades after independence. Did it?
ephi321: You don't own this thread and I will comment when and how I want to.
You are the one that should stay out of my lane, I have never spoken to you first on this thread, so stay off my path and stop quoting me aimlessly. Very simple.
Well you keep your bigotry away on Nigerian affairs n stop misleading others on issues you know nothing about. **** Stick to your ethnic politics section where you guys fight dirty over tribe n Nigerian local politics cos this section obvioiusly does not suit you.
