HenryThegreat1:But JAMB outrightly refused to release the list of top scorers as previously done. It's jamb registrar that should be blamed for the confusion everywhere. |
Calvary Arrows Secondary School in Gboko, Benue StateIs this a top school in Benue? It sounds like a private school. I'm curious to know what the school's previous alumni scored in JAMB. Congratulations to the lass. |
A Deborah who studied at Deeper Life Secondary School graduated with a 5.0 CGPA (Mechanical Engineering) from Landmark University. The highest JAMB scorer last year also graduated from DLSS. Now, this lad, certainly a top ten scorer, is an alumnus of DLSS. Schools managed by the Church generally perform well academically. Like Covenant University like Loyola Jesuit. Kudos! |
The poster in the video advises Africans to first own a property in the US (the UK could be a substitute based on this thread) before doing so in one's home country. As a resident in the abroad, the numbers support him. Own a property in the abroad FIRST before a property in your country. Cc: IbeOkehie; franchasofficia |
grandstar:Again, that is not true. Over 70 EV companies are battling against each other in selling their cars at cheap prices. In fact, one of the reasons EVs have gotten so cheap in China is due to the fierce competition. So, how is the Chinese government picking winners? BYD and Co are wining because the enormous capital they have, not because they are favoured. In fact, I dare say none is favoured to be the top. Rather, consumers are encouraged with subsidies to buy EVs, so this spurs competition from the automakers. I am curious, where are you getting your articles about the Chinese EV revolution from? I get mine from the Economist and Financial Times, but pay close attention to the commentary section of the latter as there are very insightful debates and comments about the industry by a largely Western audience who acknowledge the ingenuity of the Chinese, their efficiency and some of them even dispute the false claims of subsidies. grandstar:The subsidies are given to consumers, not carmakers. So, the carmakers jostle for those consumers. The same subsidies were issued to Telsa itself and its buyers. In fact, one of the argument so-called Liberals in the US have against Elon Musk is that he rode on the back of government subsidies to EV dominance in the US. So, how is it different from China? When Tesla became the popular car in Norway, it was largely as a result of the waivers and subsidies the government there gave to consumers who purchase EVs. So, why is China's own different? Nothing wrong in selling to other countries. Aren't Western firms selling to the Chinese? Isn't China a top two market for Tesla cars? So, why is it wrong for China to sell to the West or elsewhere? When Western firms were and are dumping cheap agricultural products (their farmers are heavily subsidised) on developing countries, did anyone complain? Why is it "do as I say, not as I do" when it comes to China? |
grandstar:So, this is the best response to a question about why is it bad for China to progress along the value chain?Interesting. Thankfully, Chinese elites aren't like those in Africa. |
Gbadugbakun:Another lesson in life to learn. When you see irresponsible men - drunks, poor men who patronise sex workers, smokers, gamblers etc., - NEVER lend them money even if they want to die! Yes! Don't lend such people money. They're innately dishonest, trickish, terrible and dangerous. After you get your money back, severe every form of connection with him. Don't greet him or respond to his greetings. Don't lend him anything even if he wants to die! Don't allow his children or wife get close to you regardless of gender. You have to be thoroughly ruthless when dealing with dishonest Nigerians. You must be hard on them. Don't forgive. Don't forget. Hold this grudge till you leave that compound. |
Nothing surprising to see here. The average Nigerian is an innately dishonest person. The worst are those who claim to be very religious, as I'm dead sure this man is one of such. The plan: do everything humanely possible to get your money. Don't let it go. Get your money by all means! Next time, even if it means total blackout, NEVER pay for anyone. Don't do it. Even if you're pointed a gun, don't do it. You're dealing with Nigerians - perennial and cruel debtors! |
grandstar:First, everyone "stole" technology from the other. The Americans "stole" from the Germans and the British. The Japanese "stole" from the Americans. The Koreans "stole" from the Japanese. So, China's "stealing" is not out of place. The complaints are because China is not bending to the whims of the West, if not, the same treatment China gets today from the US is what Japan - an ally - experienced when its firms were racing past American automakers and chipmakers. Then came the Plaza Accord. This is not the first time the West led by the US is trying to sanction a competitor out of business. The difference is that China is big and has nuclear weapons. Most importantly, this lie that China steals its way to innovation has gone too far. China and Chinese institutions lead in patent fillings. Not just by sheer numbers, but breadth of industries and specialities. For one, China innovated its way to EV dominance. China DID NOT copy any country, but innovated her way through. China also wants to export wilinilly all over the globe put places a protectionist wall on imports into its own country. This is not true. Please explain what China deters from entering the country. EU chiefs made this same mendacious claim when they visited the country months ago and were rebuffed. The EU follows the US lead in barring exports of EUV machines to China - a major export - yet complains that China is not importing enough from the union. China buys a lot of German cars, French luxury goods and superior technical machinery from Switzerland. As for exports, how is it the fault of China that the rest of the world cannot compete with her? Previously, China was known for low-end goods, but as it rose the value chains, it has been able to produce high-quality products at low prices even at the point of amassing losses. How is that a bad thing? The solar panels in developing countries which produce cheap but low-carbon electricity are the result of China's ingenuity at producing high-quality products at low prices. China is not stopping others from doing the same. It is a free world. Isn't that what capitalism preaches? Japan, South Korea and especially Taiwan are wary of China and so called advanced technologies. They have more to lose than the West. How is that the fault of China? I ask again, is it a crime for a country to aspire to high value production? So, China should just remain a consumer, rather than attempt to be a producer as well? Are Korean and Japanese companies not declaring huge profits because their goods are widely purchased by Chinese firms? China wants to be a leader in microchips. This will hit Taiwan hard! A lot of its companies are suffering because China has specially targeted companies that Taiwan has comparative advantage in.You haven't explained how this is a bad thing o. How is it a bad thing for China to be a leader in microchips? Are Taiwanese not ethnic Chinese as well? So, why is it right for a younger brother to be successful at one thing, but bad for the elder brother to do the same? This is something you must understand about economies. When countries are poor, their main selling point is cheap labour. Companies set up labour intensive factories making textiles, garments and so on and other goods.I would sound like a broken record here: but how is it a bad thing for China to leapfrog technological development? Why is it good for Americans to be good at one thing, but bad for the Chinese? Why should a major economic power of more than 10000 years be made to look wrong because it is reigniting previous achievements? China I repeat would eventually become a leader in many technologies as it has already in some.Praise God! Finally, you agree that the Chinese have the right to be a leader in many technologies. I do understand China's fear is its overdependence on import of microchips but China has largely itself to blame. Its cold war with Taiwan is unnecessary. It should let Taiwan be. Taiwan is too far gone to be part of China today, and the Taiwanese have seen what happened in Hong Kong. A middle ground can be reached between the two countries, but certainly not by force. What Cold War? The rule is simple: don't declare independence and nothing will happen. The US and Taiwanese elites acknowledge this, but you seem to don't. Any invasion by China would lead to the death of the Chinese economy.Where did you hear Chinese officials say they want to invade Taiwan? Please remember the above rule. As for Hong Kong, it has always been a Chinese city. So, why the surprise? China is currently the world's largest semiconductor market in terms of consumption. In 2020, China represented 53.7% of worldwide chip sales, or $239.45 billion out of $446.1 billion. However, a large percentage are imported from multinational suppliers. In 2020, imports took up over 83% ($199.7 billion) of total chip sales. In response, the country launched a number of initiatives to reduce its reliance on foreign companies, including investing $150 billion into its domestic IC industry through avenues like the National Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund (CICF). In 2022, the country announced a “Made in China 2025” goal of 70% domestic production.Nothing wrong here. Unlike Buhari who barred wheat imports in the name of Nigeria producing hers, China is not barring the imports of chips. It is the West led by Americans that is doing so. |
GDP per capita is an unbalanced metric in assessing the wealth of a country and its populace. There are more poor people in Guyana than Singapore and Qatar combined. grandstar:How exactly? Xi wants China to be a global leader in advanced technologies. The West disagrees. Is it now a crime for a group of people to chart their economic and technological advancement because another group doesn't like it? Why is it bad for China to lead in electric vehicles, but right for the US? Why is it wrong for China to advance in Semiconductors but Korea can do the same? When did it become a bad thing to use one's ingenuity for itself? https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3260307/made-china-2025-china-meets-most-targets-manufacturing-plan-proving-us-tariffs-and-sanctions#comments |
Dennisochampa:Mention ONE advanced country where criminals pose on social media from time to time. Just ONE. |
https://www.nairaland.com/7621766/tinubus-nigeria-nigeria-2050 Well, day don break, breeze don blow, fowl yansh don show. There's nothing surprising and nothing happening, and will happen, that I have not predicted. Expect more to happen. What's hilarious is that there's another set of Igbos who are still naive and ignorant. The earlier you understand Nigeria for what it's, rather than what you think it should be, the better. |
Treadway:https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3260307/made-china-2025-china-meets-most-targets-manufacturing-plan-proving-us-tariffs-and-sanctions When people, especially black people, mock China with poverty statements, I find it very appalling and ridiculous considering after Whites and Chinese cousins - Koreans and Japanese - Chinese are the next in terms of developmental status. Arabs exceeds us. So, why try to belittle China? Yes, China has poor people, just like every country. However, in the East and southeast parts of China, where much of the wealth is, the development of China is at the same level as most Western countries. The major cities of China are comparable to those in the West. There is wealth in China and much of it comes from sheer economic activities rather than the stock market. The recent ranking of billionaires shows it - Chinese cities dominate disproportionately. China, a country filled with destitutes over forty years ago, now has more billionaires than any other country and commands a lot of economic dominance. China trades with more countries than the US. https://www.visualcapitalist.com/charted-which-country-has-the-most-billionaires-in-2024/#:~:text=China%20has%20814%20billionaires%2C%20the,while%20the%20U.S.%20gained%20109. When I read the above article in the SCMP, if no be say I dey inside train, I would have shedded a tear because I was extremely impressed by the foresight of their elites and determination to succeed. E dey irritate me anytime I see black people lampoon China. I keep reading dictatorship and mumbo-jumbo, history has it that EVERY developed and prosperous country you see today underwent a form of dictatorship before it became a prosperous democracy. There were bullying, mass killings and high-handedness. Economic development came before democracy, not after. In cases where there were semblance of democracy, there was a dominant ethnic or racial group or political party who controlled everything. But the majority of countries at the forefront of economic development had a form of dictatorship before they liberalised their political systems. That said, Mr Treadway, Nigeria in its present state can't develop even with a benevolent dictator (Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore was described as such by Western media). The country's demographics doesn't permit that to happen. For dictatorship to work effectively for the benefit of the populace, there needs to be an ethnic or religious or racial dominance by a group that is egalitarian, enterprising, creative and pragmatic. Lastly, black people, regardless of where they come from, should stop criticising China. Leave that to people who have built functioning societies. |
DonroxyII:Fine, but not in a non-essential service such as cable TV. |
franchasofficia:It still holds, just the competition is stiffer. Population too much plus a slow economy. It is a global trend and worse in poorer but over-populated countries. |
Nasri100:Una get mouth o ![]() |
But it is true na. A court has no right to dictate how much a private company should price its products. A non-essential service for that matter. Kudos to Multichoice. It is capitalism. |
Bluffly:It only happens in poor countries. Which prosperous country do couples cut their hands because of less than $5? |
tensazangetsu20: My guy!!!! I am proud of you! |
Before nko? Muslim-Muslim presidency till 2039 ![]() |

budaatum:I read the conversation on the Financial Times. In summary, the Chinese carmakers have an issue with the company handling logistics and also, Telsa had signed a deal ensuring truck drivers only work with it (Tesla). So, gridlock till they solve the problem. The percentage of Chinese EVs being sold in Europe, although slowly growing, isn't that high sef. Western media just like blowing things out of proportion. |
idahme:I have lost count. If I invite you, I pay. If you invite me, you pay. That is my modus operandi. |
Karleb:I have actually pimped ladies to men. I just didn't take it seriously as I was managing my parents' hotels. The potential earnings would not be more than what I managed. Also, I was not in Lagos or Abuja, where there were wealthier men who wanted privacy while seeking hookers. But pimping is something I have done. |
sonnie10:OK. Thank you. Till when I am ready. It still looks confusing to me. If e too hard, I do normal trading. Buy and go. ![]() |
DREAMHOMES6970:That is an important point to note in this hobby of brostitution. - Never have them for overnight aka Till Day Break (TDB). Do an elongated short time and pay them off. But they must not sleep over no matter the reason. - Follow your instincts. - Guard yourself as well. Let them know that where their juju stops, that is where yours starts. - Scrutinise the baddie closely. Too much tattoos? What kind of tattoos? Nose rings? Where? How many of them are hunged? Ankle rings? Waist beads? The degree and quantities should be assessed? You are right that the most devilish and wicked of escorts are those who are feminazis, especially the ones who have a base on Twitter. You must be a strong man to engage those kinds of girls. While they look beautiful, I am wary of them. The baddest and most strategic baddies in Nigeria are domiciled in the Lekki-Ajah axis. Abuja comes second. The next would be the Warri/Asaba/Benin axis. Preferably, do polytechnic and final year university's girls. Once these girls leave tertiary education, they become very wild. |
travelzcruix:This man's wife is a notable private equity/venture capital investor. For them to be married, it means he is well educated to know that a business entity is separate from its owner. But I agree with resting, it is important. |
