Had this encounter with this theist two weeks ago. We were just discussing and he mentioned "God" and when it was my turn to speak, I was dismissive of the god. He inquired if I was a xtian. I said no. Muslim? No. Freethinker? Said yes. Then he went on about philosophers and all that. Told him I'm not a philosopher and that philosophy isn't a subject I really enjoy. Too complicated for me, I said.


Then what are you? Told him I'm an atheist. He opened his mouth for a few seconds, closed it, said some blah blah blah and concluded by saying he's been where I am before and that God will bring me back to His path and all that. Replied by telling him he's never been in my shoes; that I'm not some theist who wondered what dress Mary was wearing when the angel visited her to deliver the message and believe that was enough to qualify as intellectual curiosity or questioning a belief, whichever way one sees it. Told him I've been an atheist for more than eight years. He said something about still believing that God ... blah blah blah. Religious outings can be so boring! Even the debates are nowadays.

Hausas and Yorubas live together as indigenes in Kwara and Kogi too. That is a fact. Can't say about Oyo though. And I think the same applies in Edo sef.

Just watched it and came out a mixture of disappointed and angry, mostly angry. The show just took one of the most favorite characters in the book and made him a idiot mad man with delusions of grandeur. This is a man who was said to be all about family and honor,who was shown to love his daughter and then turns around to do the most despicable action possible. it is also very stupid.

1. His army is made of mostly unbelievers, people who are going to have a problem with burning children and with the stuff they've been through might just rebel.

2. Let's assume he wins, no great house is going to support him once they learn of this. it is too much a reminder of Aerys the Mad King. So how exactly does he plan to take the Iron Throne now?

Character-wise too, this puts him above Ramsay, Roose, Joffrey, Tywin, Cersei and Walder Frey. Say what you want about how terrible those characters were, atleast they never burned their children for the sake of ambition.

My sole prayer is that I hope GRRM doesn't kill off some interesting characters, like Shireen & Ser Barristan, in subsequent books just to singularize the events with the developments on the show.


BTW, I was soooo gutted to see Shireen go out that way. It was just sooo cruel. It's maybe nice for the development of the tv-story sha, seeing as it brought about a twist and all that, though at the cost of what remains of Stannis' humanity.
