To some level yes, but if you compare their youthful ages and what will have now as per the youths of this dispensation, will the future not be worse? Though we have some voice speaking but are they getting the need support from us? Is it not mostly media shouts these voices resorted to? Can they boldly step out and enjoy the support of many? Since we are not in military era, why are we so silenced and accept to be mute?

GMB is incompetent

In this present situation, he is not to be held responsible. He has no choice than to borrow since there is no other means. But if borrowings are at very low interest and the purpose for which it is proposed feasible I.e in terms of ROI on major infrastructure, I think we will smile at the end. But can Nigeria success leaders be trusted to build a team of reputation and patriotism? I think that's where we should focus

Of course, but this administration is true to see to it as we can witness some of this projects on the verge of completion but all hands must be on deck on this...eyes must be wide open....no shady deals or cutbacks. God will help us

Well, these men never had influence on the common Nigerian. I'm sure he was able to have all that because of the way Nigeria was, but they all destroyed it for us.

Look at his profile and you would wonder if he wasn't born of a woman, yes he was, and he might even be from a poor family, there are many professors like that in UI

A time will come in this country, that we would do thesame thing the black Americans are doing for some statues in the US for some of our elders

A poor person would not be able to achieve what this man achieved in this age, not because he won't be brilliant but because he won't even have access to a good primary education

I do not like the old generation and have no respect for them because the destroyed the lifes of our generation. The old generation did not try at all

What should he have done? I believe life was good in their time when growing up and during their time they have guts to look up into the faces of the leaders then , even mostly military era. Now in Democratic rule, how many youth can leave their parent houses for peace protest or those that even stood up - are they not condemned by the same youth? How many youths are thinking of trying to salvage the situation on ground, rather all ate on the run to make money anyhow and spend with their families and loved ones. Selfishness all the way , a manipulative tool is the hands of the political mercenaries - on the basis of religion and ethics. What's wrong in youths from all religious and ethnical background to fight the common enemy - but the sight of packaged envelope or promise of individual goodies will distabilize any thought or process of such. A typical example is prior to 2019 elections, some young, vibrant , experienced and insight candidates in person of moghalu, sowore, durotoye etc failed to pull their resources and interest together thereby allowing that chance of saving and salvaging the face of Nigeria democracy slip.

Ma'am! These old ones have tried during their youthful age when they've got the energy and mind, it is left to we YOUTHS of today's dispensation to salvage this nation from deteriorating and into ruins. To get our act right and do the needful

Nigerian ladies have the most entitlement-ish mentality... Most of them are just feminist by mouth. I am not against you giving to your girl but I hate it when you make me feel entitled to it. I won't take that. I attribute this to poverty level and limited exposure... But at times you see well to do girl like financially OK still portrays this kind of mentality.

If this man rules Nigeria for 8 years, there will be zero unemployment in Nigeria and so much wealth that restiveness will be a thing of the past.

In most developed countries, they choose successful business men who has a history and a string of successes to lead them, in Nigeria, they choose people who has excelled in nepotism and illiteracy to rule them.

Omooba77:

You are always tribalistic. How much does text message /call cost now after tax? Who is paying for it. Increase in DSTV due to tax, South Africans are paying for it?
When we reason, lets do it educatively and objectively. When government start taxing facebook and the rest, it means you spend more on data, which will be bore by your pockets. In a capitalist economy, tax regime is bore by the consumer, thereby increasing the cost of goods and services.
Sentiment does not solve any issue.

In developed countries people get tax rebates yearly.
Even travellers get tax returns for some items bought at malls at the airports.

Nigeria's vat is one of the lowest in Africa. Since our main source of foreign exchange has got a big hit and our foreign reserve and excess crude oil acct. Is not healthy, looking for other means to sustain the economy is inevitable - VAT, loans and some other means to generate income internally (IGR). Dstv , mtn pay taxes to Nigeria government and I'm sure they will get some tax reliefs in a time like this.
Do you want to tell me that facebook don't pay tax to some of these foreign countries? Do you know how much Facebook make in Ads only? The amount they make on giving out our datas to companies for research, marketing etc...do you know how much jack mia of alibaba, Jeff bezos of amazon etc make via mini importations? Look it is a normal thing which should have been implemented way back but, how the FG will go about it - in terms of remittance or compliance as stated by PWC is the main issue now.

Is the new law made to tax your data or tax the companies making money from Nigeria? If Nairaland is paying taxes in Nigeria, why should Facebook, Netflix, Twitter etc not pay taxes from the revenue made in Nigeria?

Are these companies paying taxes in Europe or not? So, why should they not pay taxes in Nigeria despite generating income from the country?

Will the next government not benefit from the tax reforms that the current government is carrying out? Must you guys criticize everything?
See, this new law is long overdue. It should have been in place a long time ago.

Bros, you dey mind them..when most of the institutions in their region is nothing to write home about...is it lecturer that is only settlement or blocking he sabi...or students that all they know is arm robbery, kidnapping and prostitution ..if you meet most of the graduate from that region during service year, you will pity Nigeria future. That's why I referred to them as 'literate illiterates' cos they pass through school but school didn't pass through them.. Is it not someone that read and digest a writeup, that will give a reasonable comment?

Go and read the books she wrote after leaving office, you will see she admitted to pressure from the cabals and witchhunt when her mother was kidnapped. As someone that has good name to protect, he should have honourably RESIGNED just like Kemi - the former finance minister did. Would she say she wasn't aware of the funds that were flying around during Jonathan's era? She decided to turn 'blind eye'

I respect her a lot for what she has achieved and I believed she has learnt her lesson. I hope she will be able to stand AGAINST what she sees contrary to her PRINCIPLES, esp. as regard finances

For all those that have forgotten how the money meant for ammunition for our soldiers was looted, here you have it....

Kindly joggle your memories with the following words on marble and you will agree with me that what happened recently on was nothing but gathering of rogues.
Happy reading:

1. I acted based on Jonathan's instruction - Dasuki

2. I didn't give order - Jonathan

3. I collected 350M from Dasuki for consultation - Iyorchia Ayu

4. I only collected $30,000 from Dasuki not N100m - Bode George

5. I got N4.6b from Dasuki for spiritual purposes - Bafarawa

6. I got N650M from Dasuki for my Abuja burnt office - Thisday Obaigbena.

7. I got N2.1b from Dasuki for publicity - Dokpesi

8. I got another N100m from Yuguda he didn't tell me from where - Bafarawa.

9. I gave N100m each to Odili, Jim Nwobodo Bode George and others - Yuguda

10. The president asked me to change N10B to foreign currency for PDP delegates - Dasuki

11. My boss asked me to get $11M from the CBN - Dasuki's account officer.

12. I got order from above to pay Tompolo N13B for Maritime university land. - Nimasa DG.

13. 950m was shared in my house -- Shekarau

With all this looting and many more revealed, some people are still shouting no sign of change yet, they even say it's political persecution.

But I believe, it is the right thing to do.
There must be consequences for such crimes otherwise Nigeria will not develop.

They believe in one Nigeria as long as all things goes their way or favour them...assuming it's one of the other tribes this decision favours, you'll see them with 'venom' comments all over nairaland spilling trash. A guy make different opinion see as they feast on him like vulture.
What will pay you is to split from Nigeria with this attitude of yours cos no other tribe will trust you to handle the most sensitive post in this country. Take my word for it.

Then schools and churches and mosques and shrines can resume.

Then after that will come the economic meltdown on a large scale

How sure are you that this is all God wants?.. or is it because the Bible says so?.

No one knows what God really wants, what he wants isn't in the Bible nor Qur'an nor Torah nor any other religious books.
Don't be deceived by those books that were written by men claiming to be inspired by GOD when they weren't.

Any sound mind can sit down to write a book and say God has inspired him or her to write it. OP even you can write your own religious books and people would believe it especially Nigerians so far you hide under the guise that GOD INSPIRED YOU or GOD SAYS.

God has given us a sense of reasoning and a free will to live the way we choose and make our own decisions.

If God had wanted us to live in a specific way he would have come live with us in earth to guide us or send his emissaries to come live with us so as to enforce his rules/laws to live life.

I will leave you with these verses of the scripture and to others with your like of comment

NIV version;

2tim.3:16-17.."all scripture is God-breathed and is is useful for teaching, rebuking.... "

1cor 6 :15 - 20. "Do you not know that your bodies are the members of Christ? ......."

2cor 6:14-18.."do not be yoked together with unbelievers.... "

Heb. 13: 4 "marriage should be honoured by all, and the marriage bed kept pure...."

Truly God has given us freewill but this is to please him in words and action... "He that loves me keeps my commandment." Freewill doesn't warrant us to cross God's path but living in obedience to him. Freewill led to the fall of first man but his GRACE through our lord Jesus Christ gave us second chance.
