Former Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore has announced plans to lead a protest to Lekki Toll Gate.

Sowore’s decision is following the approval for the reopening of Lekki toll gate despite the probing by the Lagos judicial panel on the allegations of killing of END SARS protesters.

Authorities have returned control to its owners, the LekkiConcession Company (LCC) to reopen the toll gate.

However, Sowore has joined some Nigerians in kicking against the toll gate reopening via his Twitter page.

He insists that the toll gate remained closed until killers of Peaceful ENDSAR protesters are brought to justice.

A Lagos Federal High Court, has convicted and sentenced a brewer of fake alcoholic drink, Yusuf Adio, to six years imprisonment, for producing fake, unwholesome and unregistered bitter drinks.

The court presided over by Justice Nicholas Oweibo, pronounced Yusuf guilty and sentenced accordingly, after he changed his plea to guilty.
Justice Oweibo, however, gave him an option of fine of N170,000, in lieu of the six year imprisonment.
The National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration Control, NAFDAC, through is prosecutor, Mr Umaru Shamaki, arraigned him before the court sometimes in 2020, on a five-count charge unregistered bitter drinks.
Mr. Shamaki had told the court that the fake alcoholic drinks are Okiki Ibile VIP Alcohol bitter, Odu bitter, also called ‘knockout’; Ogogoro Ibile Amotekun; Japata Alcohol bitter and nonalcoholic Odu and Amotekun bitters.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has disclosed why crypto-currency transactions in Nigeria have been banned.

Cryptocurrency is used for money laundering and terrorism, according to the apex bank. Last week, the CBN sent out an order shutting down cryptocurrency exchange bank accounts, a step that led to widespread social media criticism.

In a statement on Sunday, 7 February, Osita Nwanisobi, Acting Director, Corporate Communications, clarified that no new restrictions were imposed on cryptocurrencies in the CBN circular of 5 February 2021.

“The use of cryptocurrencies in Nigeria are a direct contravention of existing law. It is also important to highlight that there is a critical difference between a Central Bank issued Digital Currency and cryptocurrencies. As the names imply, while Central Banks can issue Digital Currencies, cryptocurrencies are issued by unknown and unregulated entities.

The question that one may need to ask therefore is, why any entity would disguise its transactions if they were legal. It is on the basis of this opacity that cryptocurrencies have become well-suited for conducting many illegal activities including money laundering, terrorism financing, purchase of small arms and light weapons, and tax evasion.
Many banks and investors who place a high value on reputation have been turned off from cryptocurrencies because of the damaging effects of the widespread use of cryptocurrencies for illegal activities.

The role of cryptocurrencies in the purchase of hard and illegal drugs on the darknet website called “Silk Road” is well known. They have also been recent reports that cryptocurrencies have been used to finance terror plots, further damaging its image as a legitimate means of exchange.

More also, repeated and recent evidence now suggests that some cryptocurrencies have become more widely used as speculative assets rather than as means of payment, thus explaining the significant volatility and variability in their prices.” He said.

Yemi Alade, Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter, has revealed how she accidentally ignored the email of American singer Beyonce for two months.



In an exclusive interview with OloriSuperGal, the sensational singer revealed this and spoke about other issues concerning her music craft.

Note that one of the African artists featured in Beyonce’s “Black Is King” visual album, was Yemi Alade, a sequel to the 2019 “Lion King: The Gift” album.

Nollywood actor, Femi Branch, has launched an attack on a hotel in Ayepe, Ogun State, for allegedly installing cameras in their guest rooms.

He took to his official Instagram page to share a video urging the police to investigate happenings in the hotel as, according to him, he discovered cameras in a room where he lodged.

Branch lamented his findings, and raised concerns on the whereabouts of people who may have divulged sensitive information while under unknown surveillance.

In videos shared by him and reposted by Instablog, five cameras were removed from various rooms in the hotel.

Branch tasked the police with tracing previous guests and discovering whether they had been robbed, kidnapped or killed after leaving the establishment.

When accosted with the allegations, a staff of the hotel was defiant and dogged in his stance while owning up to the allegations.

The UK’s imposed ban stops these countries from gain entry into the UK.

The countries, including Angola, Argentina, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Eswatini, French Guiana, Guyana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal (including Madeira and the Azores), Seychelles, South Africa, Suriname, Tanzania, Uruguay, Venezuela, Zambia, Zimbabwe, have been banned by the UK Government.

The UK has recorded over 3.7 million cases and 100,000 deaths.
It is also one of the top five countries with the highest number of confirmed infections.

However, the UK ban exempted Nigeria from the list.

30 hoodlums have attacked a police station at the Mapo area of Ibadan, Oyo State and set two suspects free from custody.

The Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko through the Public Relations Officer of the Command, CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi confirmed the incident in a statement saying, “Packaging’ led some thugs numbering about 30 to attack and mob the Police team, and forcefully took the two miscreants away.

“The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, wishes to inform the general public on the incident that occurred earlier today, January 28, at about 11:45 at Odo-Osun Area of Mapo.

“Police personnel from Mapo Divisional Police Headquarters were deployed to effect the arrest of two notorious miscreants, who have been deeply involved in the crisis rocking Shogoye/Akobi areas of Mapo lately.

“On January 25, at about 6 am, an elderly woman in a white cap, known as Modupe Daramola, aged 60, of a Celestial Church in Akobi area, was hit with pellets from a locally-made gun fired by one of the hoodlums during the clashes and she died, while some others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

“Sequel to the arrest of the two notorious miscreants who were handcuffed, one ‘Packaging’ led some thugs numbering about 30 to attack and mobbed the Police team, and forcefully took the two miscreants from them.

“To escape from being lynched, police personnel fired a shot into the air. At about 12:20 pm, one Akeem in the company of some angry miscreants invaded the police station to report that his younger brother was shot and the miscreants attempted to attack Mapo Police Station.

“Some cars at the junction leading to the station’s street were damaged. After that, the mob was repelled by Police personnel strategically positioned to prevent the station from being attacked.

“Not too long after, at about 1:50 pm, the corpse of one Badmus Rasheed, 20, was brought to the police station by a mob that was earlier repealed from attacking the station.

“The Commissioner of Police wishes to appeal to parents/guardians in the two areas to warn their wards to desist from acts capable of causing the breakdown of law and order as the massive deployment of police personnel and that of sister-security agencies have been emplaced to forestall further crises,” According to Sahara reporters.

Dakore Egbuson, a Nigerian actress, has come out to recalled how she suffered from postnatal depression.

On the new episode of #WithChude, Dakore Egbuson revealed this struggle with postnatal depression; the battle for her mental health and the path to recovery.

While opening up about how her seemingly perfect life plummeted into postpartum depression and the recent adjustment to motherhood, Dakore said;

“I had some slight complications after the birth of my daughter.

I was in a sad state, and I just slipped into postnatal depression.

As a matter of fact, I didn’t even realise it when it started happening.”

After a conversation with a trusted, older friend who helped her identify the source of her sudden and recurrent mood swings, Dakore visited her OB/GYN; who confirmed that she was indeed suffering from symptoms of postnatal depression

“I started to realised that I wasn’t using my creativity, so it was dying inside.

This was after four years of being away from work.

I just had this consistent and persistent sadness – a lack of joy – almost like I would be struggling to reach the joy, then sometimes I would be very manic-like very happy, then very sad,” she revealed.

She continued;

“After a while, I started going to therapy.

My therapist asked me what I used to do before I had my baby, and I told her I was an actor.

Nigerian business man and African’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has told a U.S. court how his former US girlfriend, Autumn Spike tried to extort $5 million from him.

Dangote filed a civil law suit against former girlfriend Spikes at a Miami-Dade County Court in Florida, United States of America.

The African richest man used the pseudonym, John Doe, with AD, that stands for the ‘acronym’ for his name, Aliko Dangote, as his alias. He seeks$30,000 in damages against Ms Spikes, who in the process of exposing their relationship, showed his butt on social media.

One of the court documents filed by the plaintiff on January 22, is titled, ‘Complaint petition for declaratory judgment complaint for (about) extortion petition for injunctive relief’ according to Premium Times.

The document accused Spikes of libel, defamation, cyberstalking and a breach of agreement ”to keep their relationship private and off the social media”.

It stated that Mr Dangote’s “business acumen has made him a target for coercion by the defendant”, adding that Ms Spikes demanded “meritless claims of $5 million” in the nature of “palimony to which she is not legally entitled”.

The relationship between Mr Dangote and Ms Spikes went public on January 1, after Ms Spikes with an Instagram name, “Allarounda1” shared a video showing herself seated and Mr Dangote stretching on a couch with an orange blanket.

The video gained social media attention after it went viral, as it also captured the ex couples having a good time but became controversial after Dangote’s butt was exposed.

Dangote in his suit said that Ms Spikes had in the past requested financial assistance from him to start up a business and he agreed toads her on the ground that it would be private.

His court document read in part, “Autumn Spikes demanded from the plaintiff assistance as an entrepreneur in a start-up business when there was no loan commitment, nor oral or written promise.

He said he later started seeing social media posts and planned media talk shows “done to expose him and make his life miserable if he fails to comply with the demand for $5,000,000.”

“John Doe’s generosity toward Autumn Spikes, if any, has been breached by Autumn Spikes’ exposure and solicitations to talk show media if he fails to pay her meritless demands,” he added.

He maintained that ”he had the right to stop being generous to her and demand a refund of the funds he had given her to assist her business in the past”.

Ms Spikes’ alleged demands was deceived as “meritless extortive demands” said such “are not protected by First Amendment freedom of speech and are barred by Fla. Stat. 771 01 et. Seq”.

He also alleged that Ms Spikes continued her vowed and threatened to subject him to untrue publicity if he fails to pay her the money she demanded.

The document also said that the “Defendant has threatened communications on social media, Facebook, Instagram, and otherwise.

“John Doe has a right to terminate his generosity and to obtain from Autumn Spikes a refund of the monies he had given her to assist her in starting up a business.”

Dangote accused Ms Spike of cyberstalking and demanding for money. He also said that Spike have allegedly threatened to release private information if her demands are not accepted.

The document said Spikes’ demand is “embarrassing and upsetting” adding that she “demands support in lieu of marriage or alienation of affection when she is not entitled to the same”.

Dangote, prayers are ”a non-jury trial, damages, an award of refund of all of those monies she claims plaintiff paid her, court costs and such remedies as available under the law”.

He also wants the defendant to be restrained from demanding “payment in exchange for non-disclosure of their relationship”.

Mr Dangote’s lawyers described him in the court document as “a wealthy entrepreneur, whose business acumen has made a target for coercion by the defendant.

The lawyers said the plaintiff used pseudonyms like John Doe and AD to avoid unnecessary media attention and avert coercion to pay the demanded money by Ms Spikes.

The foreign lawyers defending suspected Nigerian-Dubai-based fraudster Abass Ramon, identified as Ray Hushpuppi, have revealed that they will be withdrawing from his case.

Gal Pissetzky and Vicki Podberesky, the US attorneys, said that Mr. Abass, also known as Hushpuppi, had stopped speaking with them and hired new lawyers in order to support him in the case.

Following several months of talks with the US government, the lawyers declared their withdrawal from the case.

According to documents obtained by Premium Times, Mr. Pissetzky and Ms. Podberesky have filed a petition at the United States District Court in California to withdraw from representing Mr. Abass.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has been advised by billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist Bill Gates to repair the health sector in the country, as that is more important than buying vaccines for COVID-19.

Gates said this when answering a question asked by The PUNCH on Tuesday during an interview with selected African journalists.

When asked if it was appropriate for Nigeria to spend such a huge sum of money on vaccine acquisition in the midst of other issues plaguing the health sector, Gates said,

“There is no doubt that the impact of putting money into the health system particularly the primary healthcare system will be very high in terms of saving children’s lives and you are absolutely right.

“Nigeria should not divert the very limited money that it has for health into trying to pay a high price for COVID vaccines.”
“The key thing would be, Nigeria is still GAVI eligible and so for a lot of those vaccines, they will come through this GAVI facility that we raise money for and health in Nigeria is generally underfunded.

“If you look at the primary health centres in the North, in particular if you look at the vaccine coverage rates, there are literally millions of lives that can be saved if the primary health system operates at a level that some other countries at the same wealth of Nigeria if the system was this good.

“So, I am an advocate for the government to have more resources and prioritise health. Obviously, I am not a voter in Nigeria so Nigeria can decide that independently. My advice is (that) the primary health care system is what is super important.”

During a Question and Answer session with her IG followers today, Ka3na announced they are no longer friends.

During the BBNaija lockdown the BBNaija star’s broadcast, she was asked why she blocked Lucy, who was her closest friend.

Famous Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho disclosed that Bola Tinubu, former Governor of the State of Lagos and national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), once gave him N2 million to fuel his car.

This comes after the special political advisor to President Muhammadu Buhari, Babafemi Ojudu, made some disclosures about the meeting Igboho had with Tinubu.

In response to Ojudu’s allegations, the activist said he met Tinubu at his home in Lagos, Bourdillion, after he (Tinubu) invited him to seek his support in the 2009 Ondo election against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Igboho also disclosed on Sunday that when he left, the former Governor of Lagos State gave him N2 million to fuel his car, and he never saw him again after that.

“When I was hustling I had a company for about fifteen years ago, a company that sells cars. I started buying cars from Cotonou, then started buying from Germany, America, London; I travelled around to bring them.

“Any politician that said he gave me money should come out and swear with his child.

“Tinubu is alive, ask him if I collected money from him. Yes, I have seen him before. It was the time to vote for Mimiko in Ondo. I supported Mimiko’s opponent and they called senator Ladoja. Ladajo called me and said Tinubu wanted to see me and I should do whatever he wants.

“My number was given to Tinubu and he called me. I went to see him in Bourdillon. He asked me if Ladoja has explained the election in Ondo to me. He said he hoped I was aware of how much people had suffered under PDP’s administration in the state.

“And he told me that the election in Ondo, if Ladoja has explained to me, I should not support PDP and that they need to suffer for how they treated the people. And I told him whatever he wants and I left.

“To be sincere, he gave me N2million to buy fuel [for] my car. You can interview and ask him. He said if I love Ladoja, I should know how much PDP dealt with us, so I should leave the party. We had left PDP then, to Accord party.” He said.
