Politics › How The Get Your Free Prepaid Meter Quickly- Discos by Gjrich(op): 9:48pm On Apr 01, 2021
How to get your free prepaid meter quickly- DisCos

According to a news that was published by Peoples Gazette this evening, it was made known that the spokesperson for DisCos, Felix Ofulue in a news conference today has spoken concerning what the company is facing, after the federal government flagged off the National Mass Metering Program (NMMP) last year October.

According to what Felix said, he made known that people are not registering for the collection of the free meter and that, only 57 percent have registered, as the rest haven't registered while others are saying that they do not want the prepaid meters.

He said that 106,701 people have been scheduled to collect their free prepaid meters soon but, the problem they are experiencing is that, people are not going to map.ikejaelectric.com to register for the "Know Your Customer" online registration, which is popularly referred to as KYC.

He further urged people to stop attacking electricity officials who do go to their various houses to disconnect light and that, they should always notify them whenever people are vandalizing their properties through the recent whistleblowing program.

Politics › One Cow Is Far More Better Than 100 Human Live – Miyetti Allah by Gjrich(op): 7:22am On Mar 31, 2021
The National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, has said a cow may not mean a lot to different Nigerians, however to a Fulani, it is worth in excess of 100 living souls.

Bodejo who had earlier claimed that Fulani have no particular settlement because they own every land in the country, insisted that cows are to them, as a brother is to someone else. He said cows don’t live in cities, therefore Abuja or Lagos are useless to a Fulani unless these cities are converted into grazing fields for their cows.

Bodejo made the statement while responding to questions in an interview with Daily Sun.

Asked why Fulani prefers forests over cities, he said, “We don’t need cities or towns. If you dash us FCT Abuja or the city of Lagos, we won’t have anything to do with it. We want a place where we continue to practice our age long culture of cattle rearing. We inherited it from our forefathers and it will continue till the end of the world.”

On why they don’t take permission before setting on lands or forests not belonging to them, he questioned, “Which forest, who has the forest?” Then added, “Any person who thinks he owns any forest should be taken to psychiatric hospital. Nobody owns any forest; forests are for Nigerians,” he declared authoritatively.

Speaking further, he said, “Fulani herdsmen have the right to move into any forest and settle there for their business. Why do farmers go and cultivate thousands of hectare of land and fence it, who gave them that land? Nobody is born with a land in this country; people were just moving from one place to another for settlement.

“Fulani are settling in every community, but we are not claiming land, we are only interested on how our cows will have food to eat.

Fulani can’t value 100 people’s lives like he can value his one cow because since he was born, he doesn’t have any business except that cow. The cow is like his own brothers and sisters. If anything happens to his cow, do you think he can leave you?

“You have two or three storey buildings and you park your cars , do you fold your hands and watch somebody come to that house carry your cars, your clothes, your wife, destroy the buildings? You must fight. The Fulani man values his cow just as you value your brother and sister and you go all out to protect them.

“They love their cows beyond description, you can’t separate them from their cows to go and stay inside town or city. The cows have names. The way you give your children names when they were born is the same way they name their cows.

“Even a person who has one thousand cows, those cows have individual names and he knows them by name; the cows have fathers, grandfathers and grandchildren. What you have in human beings – the ways names are given to people, the same way Fulani give names to their cows.

“We are cow lovers , that is why sometimes if you kiII our cows anywhere we go there to look for justice, because we see it like somebody has kiIIed their brothers.

Politics › Southerners Will Starve Of Food If Hausas Get Attacked Again - Gov. Yahaya Bello by Gjrich(op): 9:03pm On Mar 30, 2021
Southerners Will Starve Of Food If Hausas Get Attacked Again" - Gov. Yahaya Bello.

Few hours ago, the governor of Kogi State, his Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, took to his official Facebook page to share the video of an interview he had with BBC Pidgin recently.

In the interview, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello made it known that the undying misunderstanding between the Northerners and Southerners will cause more harm than good. He noted one of the effects of the misunderstanding saying that, "the Southerners will starve of food when next the Northerners get attacked." After saying this, he gave reasons saying (a bit paraphrased):

"The Northerners will be angry when they get attacked, so they wouldn't supply foodstuffs to the Southerners. On the Southerners end, they wouldn't supply crude oil to the Northerners." I think this would make it a collective loss.

Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello also made mention of the steps he has taken so far regarding the crisis ensuing between the north and south. He said President Muhammadu Buhari told him to intervene because Kogi State, which wasn't as peaceful as it is before Yahaya's emergence, has become reasonably peaceful. So, the method he used in settling the disputes should also be used in settling scores between the Northerners and Southerners.

Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello said he had a talk with the leaders of the northern youths and the southern respectively and finalized that their demands will be met by President Muhammadu Buhari sooner or later

Politics › Breaking: Nigeria Is In Danger Over Chinese Loan –Rotimi Amaechi by Gjrich(op): 6:11pm On Mar 30, 2021
Rotimi Amaechi, The Minister of Transportation, on Monday, noted that the decision of the House of Representatives to go public on the Sovereignty Immunity Clause in the Chinese loan has delayed the approval for the $5.3bn Ibadan-Kano standard gauge project.

Recall that the lawmaker challenged the sovereignty clause in the loan agreement with the China Exim Bank which funded the Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge trains.

The clause in the loan gives China access to some national assets if the Federal Government fails to fulfil its side of the deal.

The former Governor of Rivers State, while speaking on Channels TV said the selfishness of some lawmakers delayed the approval of the loan by China as they began to ask more questions.

He said, “That is where we are. The loan for Ibadan-Kano, up till now we have not gotten approval and as at the time that issue happened, we were on the verge of getting approval but they withdrew. So they were asking more questions.”

“The other countries we have loan agreements with, don’t usually ask for sovereignty clause because they trust you. They expect that you are to payback. But the moment you brought it to the public, they are saying, ‘Oh you gave China an immunity clause, so you must also give us.”

“The selfishness of those members, I don’t know what they are pursuing has put the country into jeopardy. Now the other countries are asking for the immunity clause in their own agreement. The other aspect that I said was that the Chinese may likely withdraw, that is where we are. We are talking to them. Be rest assured that we would payback. The fact that these members were investigating should not stop you from… they are doing their legitimate duty, it doesn’t stop you from lending us the money.”

“They are asking questions that we need to explain. We have explained. They promised to give us the loan but at least it held us back from June till now. Imagine if they had given us that money in June, we would have gone far. We have started clearing by now but imagine seven months wasted because a few members of the House of Representatives went to the public because whatever you do here is reported all over the world. That is where we are.”

Amaechi in his statement said the immunity clause in the deal permits China to go to court or arbitration if Nigeria breaches the loan agreement.

According to him, the clause also gives exemption to some national assets if the court awards compensation to China in case Nigeria is taken to the court of arbitration.

“I have explained over and over. What the immunity clause does is to say to you in case you are not able to pay back, I want to be given the opportunity to be taken to court or to arbitration as it is in the clause.

So when I go to arbitration, don’t come and wave immunity that I am a sovereign nation, you can’t take me to court.”

“So what the immunity clause does is that it gives you access to the court. But in case you are not able to pay back whether there is an immunity clause or not, there are things that the court would tell you.”

“These are things to go for. What the immunity clause even does for us as Nigeria is that you can go for everything in case of the court awards you but you can’t go for our diplomatic assets outside the country because that is the easiest for them. They will just go to one country and seize our assets.”

The Minister disclosed that the Federal Government has so far borrowed about $2.5billion from China for covering the $500m Abuja-Kaduna line and the Lagos-Ibadan line which is almost completed.

He explained that, “If you look at the whole total cost, it will be $2.5 to $2.6 billion that we have borrowed from China Exim Bank for the Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan.

“They also lent us about $1.4 billion for the Lagos-Ibadan while the Federal Government had to cough out about $200 million to make it $1.6 billion. We are bringing out about $700 million because we have to end at the seaport in Apapa which was not part of the original design. So we had to take about 45kilometres rail from Ebute-Metta into Apapa seaport.

Politics › Insecurity: Northern Elders Say They Regret Not Speaking Up Earlier by Gjrich(op): 6:11am On Mar 28, 2021
Northern elders say they are worried about the insecurity bedeviling Nigeria at the moment

- The elders also lamented that bias on the part of the president to appoint people based on their tribe and religion has fuelled insecurity

- According to the elders, they should have spoken up against the issue a long time ago.

Northern elders under the aegis of Coalition of Northern Elders for Peace and Development (CONEPD), have blamed the festering insecurity mostly in the North East and North West geopolitical zones on some leaders and elders of the region.

According to the group, the leaders saw the danger at the beginning of the crisis but refused to tell the truth

“Mr President must ignore every sectional, regional, tribal and religious sentiment and go for the best hands that can do this job of securing our country.

“The idea of always putting first religion and geopolitical sentiments without looking out for professionalism and competence is the reason why we are at this crossroad today.

“We are in this mess in the north today because some people refused to speak the truth.

“If we continue to make security appointments based on religious and ethnic sentiments, we won’t get it right.”

The group had earlier cried out over the deteriorating security situation in the north, saying the ugly development was going out of control if nothing urgent was done to arrest it.

The elders had lamented that killings of both security personnel and civilians since the beginning of 2021 were alarming, adding that the situation of developments in the region was being downplayed.

They also declared their support for President Buhari's stance that no ransom should be paid to abductors or negotiation be engaged with bandits again.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives may soon pass a Bill for Act, to permit Nigerians from the age of eighteen, to carry arms for self-defence.

A bill to that effect, entitled: “Firearms Amendment Bill,” has already been sponsored by Honourable Adejoro Adeogun

Politics › North Is Afraid Of Nigeria Breaking Because Of The Oil - Alhaji Albarka by Gjrich(op): 10:34am On Mar 23, 2021
A Northern Young Man identified as Albarka who is also Adamu's follower countered his notion with disagreement with his submission. The young man rather said that it is time Nigerians should stop deceiving themselves and rather tackle the problem at hand than covering it in the name of one Nigeria.

He further alleged that the only thing that is keeping the country together is the oil which is situated in the South, that if the said oil is located in the North all these years, the country would have divided long time ago.

His response to Adamu Garba comes with reactions from fellow Twitter users especially the Southerners as they showered him with praises and commended him for standing on the truth without sentiment

Politics › Sunday Igboho Begins ‘Yoruba Nation’ Awareness Rally In Lagos by Gjrich(op): 8:51am On Mar 22, 2021
Supporters of Yoruba rights activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho on Sunday stormed Agege in Lagos State to canvass support and solidarity for establishment of the Yoruba Nation.
The Nation had reported Igboho said he and those who believe in his cause will always defend the Yoruba race from aggressors.
Igboho stated there is no basis for ‘one Nigeria’ as insecurity spreads to the southwest region, adding the only solution is for the Yoruba nation to stand on its own
In a live broadcast shared by Sunday Igboho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki as monitored by The Nation, supporters moved around creating awareness on the needs for Yoruba Nation.

It is now time to actualise Yoruba nation, says Sunday Igboho

Igboho’s aide was also seen sensitising passersby on the importance of having the Yoruba nation and why it should secede over alleged inequalities in the system.
He said in the video: “According to the amalgamation of 1914, after 100 years, we can all go our separate ways, that 100 years has been completed since 2014, why are we still together?

“Check the N100 note, it is stated there that the amalgamation ends in 2014, it has been over 7 years we have been suffering now, no jobs, the government of this country does not favour us, they only favour themselves. Let us leave this country, forget about the N2, 000; N3, 000 or N10,000 they give to you.
“We don’t have the money or rice to distribute to you but we are fighting for a better future for you. Except you are a politician, this country does not favour you. Let us join hands together to support the independence of the Yoruba nation.

“We have lots of mineral resources that we will utilise and live well. The Nigerian government has no reason whatsoever to say we should not leave but they are enjoying this Master-Slave relationship. Nigeria has refused to let us go simply because of the benefits derived from us, we have gold, oil, cement and every other thing.
“Yorubas are not being favoured, Yoruba nation now. They cannot kill us and kill our grave. The Yorubas are not enjoying this country, Igbos too even the Hausas are crying, only Fulanis are enjoying everything.”

Politics › Breaking : Arewa Youths Give Yoruba Indigenes 72 Hours To Leave Northern Region by Gjrich(op): 11:17pm On Mar 19, 2021
"We hereby give Sunday Ighoho ultimatum of 72 hours to move Yoruba people out of the North or we will be forced to take necessary actions by personally taking the responsibility of getting his people back home," the statement quoted the group to have said.
A northern group, Arewa Youth Assembly, has given Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho, 72 hours to move Yoruba people from the north.

Mohammed Salihu Danlami, Speaker, Arewa Youth Assembly, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
"We are hereby giving him the ultimatum of 72 hours to move his people out or we will be forced to take necessary actions by personally taking the responsibility of getting his people back home," the statement quoted the group to have said.

The group noted that Nigeria's entity is non-negotiable and called on all stakeholders in the country to reject anything that would confuse the land.

The statement partly reads, "One Mr. Sunday Igboho issued a press statement in which he was quoted as saying enough is enough; that the time for Yoruba nation is now, that they will no longer accommodate and accept the presence of Northerners.

"The constitution of the country has made it crystal clear that any Nigerian can live in any part of the country, irrespective of his or her religious and tribal placements."

The group said that it still affirms its position as a law-abiding civil youth organisation, adding that it would not fold its arm and watch innocent Nigerians being threatened by individuals who have no regard and respect for the law.

Igboho had in a statement on Wednesday said the time had come for the actualisation of the Yoruba Nation.

He said that there is no basis for 'one Nigeria' as insecurity spreads to the southwest region, adding that the only solution is for the Yoruba nation to stand on its own.

"Starting from now, we don't want herdsmen in our land to disturb our farms again. If we meet any killer herdsmen, we are going to face and destroy them.

"If any police attack us for that, we are ready for them. We don't want Nigeria again, but Yoruba nation. There is no essence for one Nigeria when major resources in the country are in the hands of the northerners.

"Enough is enough, no going back… we are not scared of anybody; these killer herders are taking over our land and they are killing us," he added.

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, today retracted the comments he made on Governor Samuel Ortom, on 27th July, 2018.

The retraction has been published in national newspapers today, 18th March, 2021.

These include The Nation, full page, on page 29, Thisday and Vanguard, half pages on 41 and 7 respectively.

Below is the retraction:

RETRACTION OF PUBLICATION

On the 27th day of July, 2018 at the National Headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and particularly in my capacity then as the Chairman of the Party, I addressed different national issues as well as some events which occurred in Benue State, including the movement earlier that day of his Excellency, Dr. Samuel Ortom (Executive Governor of Benue State) from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party.

In the course of the press conference, I made certain comments about Dr Ortom on the basis of information I have since found to be false and baseless.

His Excellency Dr Samuel Ortom felt embarrassed, defamed and deeply aggrieved by the comments I made at the said press conference, culminating in litigation.

That politics aside, Governor Samuel Ortom is a dear friend and brother with whom I have shared so much in common, including mutual respect.

That as former colleagues and one time members of the Nigerian Governors’ forum and most importantly as someone whom I am just a phone call away from, any ridicule, embarrassment, spite and insult caused Dr Samuel Ortom is regretted.

Owing to the relationship we share and in the larger interest of peace, harmony and brotherliness, I believe a complete retraction of my comments made on 27th July, 2018, and which Dr Samuel Ortom found offensive is proper and necessary.

In view of all the above, I hereby retract the comments made during the press conference on 27th July, 2018, as it relates to Dr Samuel Ortom.

Signed:

Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole.

Politics › Yoruba Nation Fed-up With Nigeria, Can’t Play Second Fiddle –Southwest Leaders by Gjrich(op):
Leaders of Thought comprising Ọbas, Chiefs, policy shapers, politicians, technocrats, intelligentsia, security-related groups, and socio-cultural groups, have decided that the Yoruba Nation would no longer play a second fiddle in the arrangement of Nigeria which has failed them.

The large gathering of the leaders and Youths in Pan Yoruba group held a rally at Mapo Hall in Ibadan regarded as the political nerve centre of the entire South Western Nigeria, where it was decided that the system now being operated in Nigeria can no longer sustain the country, and as such, have decided to pull out and stand alone as a Nation.

The groups at the end of the meeting issued a communique singed by, Mogaji Gboyega Adejumo which centered on the Greater and Common Good of the Yorùbá nation.

They stated in the ten point agenda that:

1) The Yorùbá are resolute in their determination not to stand idle and watch our space and land desecrated. Only an arsonist allows a fire to burn and destroy. We will not permit strangers to abuse our hospitality and desecrate our hallowed land and our sacred spaces. Indeed, we invoke the ancient maledictions reserved for such malefactors. Our forests need no permission to swallow them.

2) The Yorùbá, are confronted by the realization that we are living in a time of bad metaphors. A time when dogs do not hearken unto the whistle of the hunter and the rivers which have forgotten their sources, still continue to flow. The world is turned inside out and the socio-political fabric of Nigeria is ripped into shreds. Today in Buhari’s Nigeria, the ship of state has veered dangerously off course, and heads almost irreversibly towards jagged rocks of destruction. Insecurity has reached such an abyss that hundreds of people are kidnapped in broad daylight with impunity.

3) The Yorùbá are convinced that Nigeria is on the verge of a catastrophic calamity, of potentially greater magnitude than either the internecine conflict of 1967 to 1970 or the brazen disenfranchisement of 1993! Nigeria as we know it, has embarked on uncharted seas, with nihilists as crewmen. We are a country divided along distrusting ethnic lines, exhausted by its failures, cynical about its own future, authoritarian by reflex and controlled as a personality cult by a section of the country. The relentless pursuit of power by a group of self servers, the ruthless cabal that respects neither Equity nor Equality, with an entrenched sense of entitlement, has taken away any sense of belonging to this union, by the Yorùbá. When injustice becomes law, resistance will be a duty!

4) The Yorùbá announce their exhaustion with this Government’s obsession with Lies and Denials of truths and facts. Farmers-Herders clashes are denied despite photographic evidence of massacres and eye-witness reports of mayhem. Terrorists roam the land in the garb of herdsmen, killing, raping, kidnapping and maiming, with little or no reaction from constituted authority. A high ranking Government official declares that bandits are not criminals.

5) The Yorùbá are perplexed by the fact that the Nigerian state is bombing the Eastern Security Network (ESN). Yet, the same Government is embracing and romancing terrorists. It is now safe to say this is a Government that panders to terrorists, protects terrorists, pays ransoms to terrorists, and prevaricates Terrorism, with absolutely no sanction by the Northern dominated security apparatus of Nigeria. How exactly can such a Government continue to seek the support of the Yorùbá going forward!?!

6) The Yorùbá hereby make known their opposition to Sheikh Gumi’s interaction with these dreaded terrorists. A video circulating on social media that shows the Sheikh trying to divide the Nigerian Army along religious lines is an abominable wake-up call. The Sheikh is guilty of incitement, when he claims that it is Christian soldiers who attack bandits to sow religious tension. To encourage bandits to be selective in their reprisal attacks and avoid women and children is tantamount to aiding and abetting Terrorism and sabotage. The Sheikh has forgotten that thousands of Christian soldiers have lost their lives battling Boko Haram and other Terrorists. The Nigerian Military is one of the few institutions that have resisted division along religious lines. By condoning Sheikh Gumi’s felonious pronouncements, the Government is allowing him to fan the embers of crisis, while hiding under the cloak of mediation.

7) The Yorùbá are convinced that the North is already at war with itself. Rather than face that situation squarely, the Northern-controlled Federal Government keeps trying to divert attention by teasing out conflicts in some areas and exporting crisis to other locations. The Yorùbá call it, “da bi mo se da”. It will not work. The Yorùbá will not swallow the bait and allow our hard-won inheritance to be consumed in the consequent conflagration.

Cognizant of the foregoing, It has become imperative that the territory that was known as Western Region under the 1963 Constitution, along with other peoples having affinities with the Yoruba Nation in Edo, Delta, Kogi and Kwara be organised in pursuit of our political identity and socio-economic welfare of all. Notwithstanding any politically correct labels, our quest is to think through and fashion out the pathway for the progress of our peoples at the homeland and across the world.

The Yorùbá hereby resolve as follows:

i) The Yorùbá have decided to embark on a venture of massive resistance to the issue of insecurity. Àmòtékún and other support systems, fully incorporating both Traditional and Modern security measures and systems have been integrated to form the South West Security and Stakeholders Group (SWSSG) which is presented to the Yorùbá and the world today. The role of SWSSG is the protection of our patrimony, our physical and human assets, our forests and our intangible legacies which have been inviolate and inviolable for over a millennium.

ii) The forests of the Yorùbá are sacred, untouchable, and out-of-bounds to terrorists. May the curses of all our forefathers hold to account all who attempt to cede even one inch of our forests to any ranch or settlement for the use of foreigners, despoilers, ruiners, ravagers and desecraters of our forests. Our forests house our spirituality, our Essence. Our Egungun, our Oro, our spirit, our food security, our culture, our Being!

iii) The Yorùbá distance themselves from the oft-repeated untruth that “Nigeria’s unity is non-negotiable”. This is nothing but a falsehood. Be it known, now and ever — “The unity of Nigeria is highly negotiable!” If we cannot be happy together, then let us find peace and joy, apart. Nigeria can only remain Nigeria if all parties agree to deal equitably with each other.

iv) The Yorùbá are resolute in their fierce determination to pursue vigorously our own chosen destiny to be FREE men and women, and never to be 2nd class citizens in our own land and space.

Politics › Nigeria's Breakdown Imminent As Southern, Middle Belt Leaders Give 5 Conditions by Gjrich(op): 7:42am On Mar 18, 2021
Leaders of Southern Nigeria and Middle-Belt, under the aegis of Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS), yesterday, set modalities to extricate their people from what they described as the “contraption called Nigeria.”

At a world press conference at New Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, Chairman of NINAS, Prof. Banji Akintoye, and other leaders of the group, comprised of indigenous nations and people of southern and Middle-Belt of Nigeria, complained of injustice in the country and contradictions in the polity and 1999 Constitution.

The press conference was organised at the expiration of a 90-day notice of grave constitutional grievances Issued by NINAS to the Federal Government on December 16, 2020.

Other leaders of the group who participated in the event include Tony Nnadi (Secretary), Prof. Mayowa Ogedengbe, and Chief Sunday Adeyemo (a.k.a Sunday Igboho).

Akintoye said: “As the distressed federation of Nigeria continues to wobble through what seems its terminal throes, it will be recalled that NINAS, aggregating the indigenous nations and peoples of southern and Middle- Belt of Nigeria, who have found themselves at the receiving end of a most vicious ethnic cleansing onslaught by heavily-armed invading Fulani militia, masquerading as ‘herdsmen’, formally declared a dispute with the federation of Nigeria as represented by the Federal Government of Nigeria via the constitutional force majure proclamation of December 16, 2020, in which it made a five-point demand upon the Federal Government of Nigeria to formally commence the remediation of the grave constitutional grievances enumerated in the said proclamation, within a period of 90 days beginning from midnight of December 16, 2020.

“The full text of the December 16 proclamation was published unedited as an advertorial in the January 20, 2021 edition of The Guardian on pages 38, 39, 40, and 41. Hard copies of the proclamation were also dispatched to the President of Nigeria, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, President of the Senate, Speaker of House of Representatives, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Conference of Speakers of State Assemblies, United Nations (UN), European Union (EU) and AU missions in Nigeria, ambassadors of United States, China, Russia, France, Germany, Belgium, and Japan to Nigeria; High Commissioners of the United Kingdom and Australia to Nigeria, ECOWAS Secretariat and other stakeholder institutions.

“We report to you now that at the expiration of the 90-day notice by the midnight of March 16, 2021, no formal contact was made with NINAS by the Federal Government of Nigeria and so we are gathered here today March 17, 2021, to inform our people, as well as the international community, what our next steps will be in our resolve to extricate ourselves from the death-trap and bondage unitary Nigeria has become for our various peoples.

“In refusing to step forward to the table of dialogue and in the characteristic arrogant disposition of the Federal Government of Nigeria, we call your attention to several knee-jerk, patch-work and bad-faith options the Federal Government of Nigeria chose to pursue in the desperation to once again evade the sovereignty question it had been evading since 1967, instead of embracing the comprehensive framework tabled by NINAS via the December 16, 2020 proclamation”.

Akintoye said NINAS interpreted the attempt to railroad the resolution of the grave constitutional grievances to the National Assembly as “a clear evasion of the fundamental sovereignty question relating to the deep distortions in our union agreement (Constitution) which must now be engaged by the constituent components of Nigeria whose sovereignties are currently hijacked and confiscated by the Nigerian state via the fraudulent 1999 Constitution.”

According to Akintoye, “This interpretation stems from the fact that the National Assembly, which itself, is a product of that constitution, had, a few months ago, acknowledged that it has no constitution-making powers as that power vests exclusively in the constituent component nationalities of Nigeria as an incident of their sovereignty.”

NINAS said it would amount to treason for the National Assembly or the executive arm of government to continue to “usurp the sovereignty of the peoples of Nigeria confiscated by the fraudulent 1999 Constitution which is already repudiated and rejected by the peoples of Nigeria, especially in the alliance territories as represented by NINAS.”

The NINAS chairman said: “In the invocation of our long-suppressed collective sovereignties, we hereby proclaim a constitutional force majeure, effective from midnight of 16th of December 2020, with a 90-day notice to the government of the federation of Nigeria, Security Council of the United Nations, the government of United States of America, European Union as well as the international community, of the intention of the peoples of the alliance territories to reconsider our continued allegiance to the disputed 1999 Constitution as well as the unitary union of death, attrition and backwardness it foists on us”.

NINAS, therefore, demanded:
• that the Federal Government should formally announce and acknowledge the “constitutional grievances and sovereignty dispute” declared by the peoples of the south and Middle-Belt.

• a formal commitment by the Federal Government to wholesale decommissioning and jettisoning of the 1999 Constitution as the basis of the federation of Nigeria as was done by the government of Apartheid-Era South Africa in 1990 to commence the process by which the Apartheid constitution of the then South Africa was eased out.

• a formal announcement by the Federal Government suspending further general elections under the disputed 1999 Constitution since winners of such elections will swear to, and governed by that constitution.

• a formal invitation to the peoples of the South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria to work out and emplace a transitional authority, which shall specify the modalities for the transitioning process, including the composition and mandate of the transitional authority as well as the time-frame for the transitioning and other ancillary matters.

.a formal initiation of a time-bound transitioning process to midwife the emergence of fresh constitutional protocols by a two-stage process in which the constituent regional blocs will, at the first stage, distill and Ratify their various constitutions by referendums and plebiscites, and in the second stage, negotiate the terms of federating afresh as may be dictated by the outcomes of referendum and plebiscites.

Akintoye declared: “By this proclamation, let it be known to all, including international money lenders, that Nigeria is now a disputed project and that while the constituent components commit to honouring existing international debt obligations, we caution that whatever obligations that may arise from any foreign loans contracted by the Federal Government of Nigeria from the date of this proclamation may come into controversy.

“Similarly, all loans contracted by the Federal Government, containing any clause that may cede the sovereignty of Nigeria or any part thereof in the event of repayment default shall be disputed as illicit, and in breach of the sovereignty of the federating units.

“We also invite politicians from the alliance territories and all political parties operating in the alliance territories, to take notice, that the 1999 Constitution by which the winner of any national elections in Nigeria will swear, and govern, is the very object of the sovereignty dispute we have just proclaimed, with a demand that further national elections premised upon that repudiated constitution, be deferred forthwith, for the purpose of first reworking the damaged constitutional basis of Nigeria”.

While setting out the modalities for transition, Akintoye said: “For the avoidance of doubt, the NINAS proclamation of constitutional dispute on December 16th, 2020 terminated the life of the fraudulent 1999 Constitution of Nigeria and, therefore, restored our sovereignty that was confiscated by that constitution. What we are doing today is to outline the processes and modality for the necessary and orderly transition to our full self-determination and sovereignty in the world.

Christianity Etc › Roman Catholic Church Takes Final Decision On Gay Marriage And Homosexuals by Gjrich(op): 12:23am On Mar 17, 2021
It's no longer news that many Christians are interested in learning the Roman Catholic Church's position on gay couples and marriages, It's important to note that while some religions embrace and practice gay marriage, others believe it violates God's commandments.

However, the Vatican announced on Monday that the Catholic Church lacks the authority to bless gay marriages in the Church.

It's important to note that the Vatican's doctrinal office (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, CDF) has ordered Catholic priests and other Catholic ministers to refrain from ordaining or blessing gay marriages in a letter.

They also announced that the church's decision on gay couples and marriages does not help the society's unfair persecution against gays.

Pope Francis, on the other hand, claimed that God has already blessed the union or marriage of a man and a woman, he also argued that such blessings could not be granted to a marriage between people of the same gender (Gay marriage).

So, what are your thoughts on the Catholic Church's decision to allow gay marriage in the church?

Politics › EFCC Grills Tunde Fashola Over Corruption, Demands His Asset Documents From CCB by Gjrich(op): 11:08pm On Mar 16, 2021
EFCC grills Tunde Fashola over corruption, demands minister’s asset documents from CCB.

Babatunde Fashola, a top-tier member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet, has been interrogated by the EFCC over corrupt practices tied to his questionable asset declaration and an ongoing probe of Babatunde Fowler, the disgraced former chairman of the FIRS, two senior anti-graft detectives have told Peoples Gazette.

Officials familiar with the works minister’s ordeal told the Gazette he was called in for questioning after detectives were tipped off about his involvement in Mr. Fowler’s loot during his days as the head of Lagos Inland Revenue Service and most recently at the FIRS.

The EFCC also wrote to the Code of Conduct Bureau seeking the former Lagos governor’s asset declaration documents in order to further establish another phase of the investigation, according to a letter obtained by the Gazette. The Gazette first published the letter earlier this month in a report about an ongoing corruption probe of Bola Tinubu, but covered Mr. Fashola’s name in order to allow enough time to cross-check why his asset filings were being requested by the EFCC.

Mr. Fashola strongly denied all charges of corruption as presented to him by the EFCC, urging officials to ensure a thorough investigation of the matter before dragging his name into it, officials said.

There was no immediate indication that Mr. Fashola, whose career in politics has flourished for two decades without the perception of greed and graft, will be arraigned for corruption anytime soon, officials said. But flagging him as a potential target for charges underscores raging concerns over what appeared to be a deliberate targeting of South-West politicians ahead of 2023 presidential election battle.

The detectives provide information on the condition of anonymity for want of authorisation to discuss an ongoing investigation with the Gazette.

Mr. Fashola’s visit to the EFCC towards the end of 2020 has been kept entirely secret until now. Even then, little has been uncovered about the overall nature of the investigation, and specifics of what the works minister was accused of are still fuzzy.

But the mere summoning of a top administration official who handles a key ministerial position prompted suspicion amongst anti-graft officials that a cabal of other appointees and associates of the president may be seeking the former Lagos governor’s rapid fall from grace in order to delist him from 2023 presidential equation of the ruling APC.

It also signals the rising and uncurbed influence of Abubakar Malami, Mr. Buhari’s clumsy attorney-general now seen as the de-facto commander of national affairs. Mr. Malami has been thought to be hatching a plot to raise a mercenary that will cut South-West politicians to size before the primary season opens next year.

“There is no one at the EFCC now that does not realise that the AGF is in charge,” an official said. “Most of the matters we are being asked to look into now are about people the AGF has not been so friendly with and working to bring down before 2023 primary exercise of the APC.”

Already, Mr. Malami has been blamed for EFCC’s ongoing corruption investigation against Mr. Tinubu, Mr. Buhari’s key benefactor who now sees himself as the front-runner for the ruling party’s 2023 presidential ticket.

Mr. Malami has denied being in control of the EFCC, but admitted nominating scandal-plagued Abdulrasheed Bawa to lead the anti-corruption agency. Following the Gazette’s report that Mr. Tinubu was under investigation, Mr. Malami went on television to assert the powers of both EFCC and CCB to probe the former Lagos governor.

“The EFCC and Code of Conduct Bureau are all statutory bodies that are vested with statutory powers to act within the context of the laws establishing them,” the attorney-general said, even though neither the EFCC nor the CCB has publicly commented on the charges against Mr. Tinubu.

For two weeks, both Mr. Fashola and his spokesman declined comments from the Gazette for this story. But a person close to the minister told the Gazette he distanced himself from both allegations of asset fraud and connivance from Mr. Fowler.

Mr. Fowler was handed a disgraceful exit from office in late 2019 after Mr. Buhari caught wind of his lavish lifestyle said to have been funded with suspicious loot during his years as the head of the FIRS.

Mr. Fowler was the head of FIRS when Mr. Fashola was Lagos governor between 2007 and 2015. Both later became appointees of Mr. Buhari following APC’s presidential election victory in 2015. But as 2023 draws closer, desperation has mounted amongst loyalists of the president and those suspected to be close to Mr. Tinubu from the South-West.

Since mid-2020, the EFCC has been probing Mr. Fowler, and he was reported to have mentioned names of several politically-exposed individuals as his collaborators.

In December, the Gazette exposed how the FIRS under Mr. Fowler transferred N840 million to Isa Funtua, a friend of the president’s. Several officials said Mr. Fowler was at some point desperate to be friends with powerful individuals close to the president but ultimately lost his scheme to be retained as the head of the country’s tax office.

Mr. Fowler did not return a request seeking comments about whether or not he implicated Mr. Fashola before anti-graft officials. Spokespersons for the EFCC and Mr. Malami did not return requests seeking comments from the Gazette.

But Ken Eluma Asogwa, an APC strategist, said Mr. Fashola’s investigation could further divide and distract the Buhari administration, seeing it first as a political witch-hunt by the attorney-general.

“You cannot write off politics from this, giving that gladiators are warming up for 2023” Mr. Eluma Asogwa said. “But this is what we’re talking about running a parallel government and it is time for Malami to be cautioned.”

The Abuja-based lawyer and political analyst said the attorney-general should have allowed the EFCC to tender any evidence of wrongdoing against Mr. Fashola before the president, rather than allowing the minister to be humiliated.

“Fashola is still a member of the president’s cabinet and the president could have acted on intelligence to fire him by now if it is true,” Mr. Eluma Asogwa said. “Malami is using the EFCC to hunt and smear his political enemies and that should never be the primary function of a sensible attorney-general.

Politics › Nnamdi Kanu Shares 50-Year-Old Newspaper About Aburi Agreement (Photo) by Gjrich(op): 10:40pm On Mar 16, 2021
Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), recently took to his Twitter account and shared a newspaper that is over 50 years old now. The details of the newspaper amazed everyone. It talked about the Aburi agreement for restructuring.

For quite a long period of time now, some group of people have been opining that the country should be restructured due to some perceived marginalisation of some regions in the country.

Nnamdi Kanu who took to his official twitter handle today, asked the Fulani populace if they have gotten the restructuring they are looking for yet.
According to Nnamdi Kanu, he said Aburi Accord restructuring was meant to restore normalcy in Nigeria but some group of people including the Fulani said no.

He said now that it's over 50 years now, the same group of people who rejected the same restructuring Aburi propagated are now the ones calling for it.

The post by Nnamdi Kanu amazed many of his followers. Many of them spoke about the issue of restructuring.
