Rattled by the stoppage of food items and cattle to the South from the North by the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuffs and cattle Dealers of Nigeria in the last week of February and early March 2021, and the negative effects of the blockade, South West governments, particularly Lagos, have begun the process of ending the region’s dependence on agricultural products from the northern part of the country. It would be recalled that the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuffs and cattle Dealers of Nigeria had in February stopped the movement of cattle and food products to the South while protesting the losses incurred by its members during the #EndSARS’ protest and razing of their properties at Shasha market in Oyo State. The union also demanded the payment of compensation of N4.75 billion to its members before the blockade could be lifted. Many articulated vehicles conveying cows, and food products like grains, yams, potatoes, onions, pepper and other commodities were stopped by the union’s task force at the North’s borders with the South. This resulted in scarcity and hike in the prices of meat and other food items in markets in the South for the period that the blockade lasted. While wading into the matter, the Yoruba Council of Elders, YCE, had described the blockade as a wake-up call to the South. A chieftain of YCE, Dansaaki Samuel Agbede, said: “I want to congratulate the northerners for taking that action because they will wake us up from our slumber. “Let them take back their foodstuffs and eat it. There shouldn’t be any quarrel about it. But the herders should stop grazing their cattle on our farmlands because it’s their cattle that eat our fresh maize and cassava,” Agbede had warned. One and half month after the suspension of the blockade, the Lagos State government seems to have headed the call of the YCE chieftain to wake up from their slumber and start producing agricultural products for the consumption of her people. To actualise the ‘Operation Feed Lagos’ project, the state recently reeled out several policies and programmes. One of them is a Stakeholders’ Engagement on the Red Meat Value Chain held in Alausa, Ikeja. Speaking to the private sector delegates at the conference, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya, called on them to partner with the state to establish feedlots for cattle rearing and fattening in furtherance of its reforms and sanitization of the red meat value chain. She further said that the partnership became necessary as it would ensure better production and supply of cattle for consumption in the state. The feedlots, she said, would help revive, resuscitate and fatten cows that might have travelled from the North from where they may have come to Lagos before slaughtering them when operational. “We have been having discussions around the transformation agenda centred on abattoirs, transportation and markets but there is a revised plan to have a more holistic approach to the red meat value chain. “We are not just focusing on abattoirs alone which are a processing angle, we are starting right from the animal identification and traceability systems, meaning right from the source or point of origination of the cattle. “That is why we want to establish feedlots in the state so that we can have cattle fattening centres. Having feedlot centres means that the cattle can rest, they can be fattened so that people can make more profit, and you have even more wholesome beef on your table. “We will like to deliver and achieve all of these things this year if possible, so you can start off with a pilot project. So we want the relevant private sector to partner with us to establish the feedlots, everything is going to be a private sector drive as the government is only going to create the necessary enabling environment”, the commissioner stated. She however noted that the feedlot system is not just for resuscitating and fattening alone, but for the purpose of rearing the cattle themselves in the state. “We have land in Lagos that can be used for this and that is what Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu wants in the state,” Olusanya stated. In his own address, the Chairman, Lagos State Butchers Association, Mr. Bamidele Kareem, said the association was ready to set up feedlots, as well as rear and scale-up meat requirement of consumers in Lagos if the state government would approve their request on the provision of 50 hectares of land for ranching. “We (Lagosians) are the highest consumers of red meat in Nigeria. But we butchers don’t breed cattle. That is why we are begging government for feedlots for breeding. Remember in 1946 during the colonial era there were ranches in the Western region and when Chief Obafemi Awolowo became the Premier he expanded it. “Subsequently, the intervention of the military crumbled it and made it look as if only Fulani who can breed cattle and that’s what we are facing now. Even if we can’t produce what we can consume at the least we can produce substantive quantity. “We are proposing a land at Imota area of the state to the state government but we understood the government is looking at another land in Epe. We pray it happens soon,” Kareem stated. He also used the occasion to appeal to the state government to help address the challenges confronting meat production in the state. These challenges, he said, include poor economy, epileptic power supply and poor infrastructure among many others. Speaking to BH on the sidelines of the conference, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya, said over 6,000 heads of cattle daily, translating to over 1.8 million herds of cattle with a market value of N328 billion are consumed in Lagos annually. She also revealed that over 1.4 million herds of sheep and goats are consumed. “The idea around the red meat value chain stakeholders’ engagement is to have a sort of conclusion around how the sector should move forward and we will be working with the Butchers Association Lagos State Chapter, which has a membership of over 30,000 butchers. “We do not produce red meat but we would like to expand on what we can do within the red meat sector. “Lagos is consuming well over 50 per cent of what Nigeria produces in terms of red meat. When we break it down, Lagos consumes well over 6,000 heads of cattle on a daily basis, which translates to 1.8 million heads of cattle on annually. “When you consider the transactional value alone for Lagos, it is over N328bn but we are producing nothing. But what stops us from setting up ranches in this state? “We are the largest market. It also makes sense that we set up ranches such that we are closer to market, we remove the logistics costs. We are actually working on that and we would be rolling out the Expression of Interest next week”, she said. Stakeholders present at the meeting include members of the Abattoir Concessionaire Forum, Executive Council and Board of Trustees of the Lagos State Butchers’ Association as well as members of the Lagos State Butchers’ Association from each abattoir and slaughterhouse in the state. |
Nnamdi Kanu led Indigenous People of Biafra has vowed to invade the Northern part of Nigeria with their ESN operatives if Miyetti Allah tries to send its armed members to protect their cattle investment in Igbo land. This was contained in a statement signed by IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful. The group vowed to kill members of Miyetti Allah who tries to enter Igbo land to protect cattle. Recall that Miyetti Allah had said that they are planning to send their members to protect their cattle investments in the South-East region. Reacting to this, IPOB vowed to resist the Fulani domination in the Southeastern region of the country. According to Sahara Reporters, IPOB also vowed to extend their operations to the Northern part of Nigeria. This does not look good and the federal government should step in before things get out of hand

The Police Command in Ebonyi has confirmed the killing of its three operatives by gunmen in Abakaliki, the state capital. Odah said that the assailants, who pretended to be holding a burial rite, drove round the area in a tricycle before opening fire on the policemen. “Right now, investigation is ongoing and we are committed to bringing the perpetrators to book,” she said. She appealed to the public to support the fight against crime by providing useful information to the police and other security agencies in the state |
The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has raised the alarm that South East governors in collaboration with Ohanaeze Ndigbo and some 'treacherous’ traditional rulers, and President Generals of some communities, are compiling names of suspected operatives of the Eastern Security Network, ESN as well as IPOB members and supporters for persecution. The group stated that if the governors don’t rescind their plan, “IPOB will make the zone too hot for them.” IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful, claimed that its intelligence unit uncovered “a secret file” containing the list of the suspected ESN and IPOB members. The list according to the statement is to be handed over to the security agencies for torture and elimination. IPOB which said the idea was suggested to South East Leaders by the federal government to weaken ESN regretted that efforts of the security outfit for flush out killer herdsmen from the zone were being sabotaged by the selfish political elite. It noted that since the establishment of ESN, efforts to rid the zone of bandits and killer herdsmen had intensified, a development that has making the masterminds uncomfortable. The statement read in part: “The South-Eastern Governors in collaboration with Traditional Rulers in the Zone and some PGs of communities are compiling names of suspected IPOB members in their respective communities to hand over to Nigeria security agencies for possible executions. “The arrangement has been perfected to help Nigeria Police and Army to quickly pick anybody suspected to be IPOB member and ESN operatives in the zone. “Our intelligence further revealed that they took this decision to launch this joint military operation to quench and permanently silence what they termed as IPOB and ESN menace in the zone. “IPOB intelligence unit gathered that these enemies within and without have perfected arrangements to abduct our people and put them incommunicado in the security dungeons in unknown locations. “It is unfortunate that our so called leaders could not see or observe how Fulani terrorist herdsmen are raping and murdering our mothers, wives and sisters in the farms across the Biafra territory but they see us as their problem.” IPOB denied any link with the unknown gunmen suspected to the behind the wave of bloody attacks against security formations in the zone and wondered why its members would be marked for elimination. “We have severally explained that ESN has nothing to do with the unknown gunmen responsible for the attacks in South East. The unknown gunmen are not ESN or IPOB. We wonder why Government will continue to associate us with that group without investigations.” IPOB argued that a government that treats bandits and killer herdsmen with kid gloves cannot claim to be unaware of the said unknown gunmen. The pro-Biafra movement warned South East Leaders to retrace their steps or brace up for the grave consequences of their action. “If South East Governors do not stop this plan against their people, IPOB will make the zone too hot for them. “We expect all tradinonal rulers and PGs in the South East communities to retrace their steps before it gets too late. The land will also rise against them if they allow this to happen! “Any IPOB member or ESN operative killed shall be avenged! The statement also advised the federal government to jettison any plans to persecute pro-Biafra groups as doing so would come with some price. “We advise Nigeria government and her partners in crime in the zone to desist from this evil agenda because it will backfire. We are aware of their secret file, but we are not going back until Biafra is finally achieved. |

The insecurity state of South East Nigeria is becoming second to none, since the unknown gunmen lunched attacks on police head quarters in lmo, freeing all the prisoners and coupled with continous burning of police stations, and killing of men in uniform by the group tagged unknown gunmen. The incident has made all police checking points disappears without notice to the members of the public, who they were posted to protect. But should it be that they deserted the road blocks for the fear of unknown, many people believes that police are at the points only to extort money from the motorists and not to protect anyone, since they always took to their heels at the sound of any unknown gun shot. It should be recalled that the Biafran apologist Nnamdi kanu, has giving police, Army and other security agencies parading themselves on the roads and checking points at South East to disappear at expiration of 30 days notice, which has already expired, saying that they are in the East only to enslave, extort money, killing and maiming his people as a conquered territory. Coincidentally, at the end of the 30 days it has become hot for the security agencies in the zone for some time now, this has led to the many security agencies living in danger. The police therefore has deserted their normal business shops as usual where they collect Roger from the populace instead of protecting them. Many who lived in the North have explained that the North is free from the police and military invasion at checking points in the name of security points. The police stations are also deserted, many officers doesn't go to work again, many of them doesn't walk alone on the roads on uniforms for the fear of unknown gunmen. In Ebonyi State it was reported that three police officers were killed three days ago, on Wednesday, 13th April 2021, after unknown gunmen who disguised themselves as either mourners or something else opened fire on the men of the Nigeria police force, killing three. While traveling from Abia to Anambra State, there was no presence of police men on the highway. It's also reported that from Abia to Enugu State it's the same etc. The lG of police has ordered his men to vacate the highways in different occasions, but these orders were always obeyed only few days, and they'll return to the roads. It's unclear whether the police is going to come back soon on the highways, as gunmen continues to cause havock. What should we do In a situation like this, many believed that the war against the State has just began at South East, after so many years of tears and bad experience from the men in uniform. The FG shouldn't keep pretending that all is well, when there's silence Cold War going on in the country, between the State and it's citizens. Many are loosing faith in the union called Nigeria, day by day, as it seems like the State in complecant, knowing not what to do at a time that needed urqent proactive measures. What stops the president from security meetings of all State actors, zones and geographical locations on a round table meeting, to discuss Nigeria out of possible disintegration and 2nd civil war on the making. Are the leaders blind or confused?. It's peoples sons, father, husband that are being killed on daily basis. Most of the informed men are good ones and many of them are being killed for what they don't know, if the Government can't do anything about this, it's either they resign or stop working for now until Government seats up and do the needful, who so ever died in this season will have himself to blame, since the prime State actors are untouchable by the unknown gunmen, because of their fortification. Nnamdi kanu has time without number warned the security operatives in the South East to leave the zone or face dangerous consequences, citing grand plans to silence, take over the East and Wipeout the lgbos by the Fulanis Hersmen through the aid of security agents. And some of this predictions have come to pass after the Ebonyi massacre, where security agents masterminded the killings and as of today nobody has been apprehended about the ugly incident. Should we say that Nigeria is now a free world or a banana republic, where anything goes and nobody is held responsible or punished. What's your take on this article, should we say that the police desertion of their Posts is good for the South East, Who are they afraid of, is it the fear of Nnamdi kanu 30 days expiration notice, or are they afraid of the unknown gunmen.

Akintoye, who is an 86-year-old Emeritus Professor of History, was scheduled to lead the rally but our correspondent observed that the venue is surrounded by armed policemen and armour personnel carrier. The organisers have also not been seen at the venue although some members were said to have come earlier and left because of the situation there. However, a truck-mounted with a megaphone was later seen with a few Yoruba agitators going towards Oritamerin from Bere side. Calls put across to some of the organisers were not picked. But it was gathered that they were strategising for the next line of action.

It was earlier announced by the Federal Government of Nigeria that linking of SIM cards with NIN (National Identification Number) is important and compulsory for all citizens in Nigeria. KossyDerrickBlog Two sources have reached out to our media outlet to reveal that the linking of SIM cards with NIN is about to be cancelled. The cancellation is coming after the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, got called out for having a link with Boko Haram and Al-Qaeda. The first source says that in order to make Nigerians happy and forget about the issue of Isa Pantami link with the terrorist groups, he wants to cancel the linking of SIMs with NINs. The source says that NIN might only be compulsory for those who will start buying new SIM as from Monday. "Isa Pantami is about to make the linking of SIM cards with NIN not to be compulsory again due to the attacks he's been receiving on social media. The same way registration of SIM cards were announced surprisingly, that's how linking of SIM cards will be cancelled surprisingly but will be done (cancellation) in a cunny way," the first source says. The second source says the telecommunications in Nigeria are currently feeling the heat of losing many customers when SIMs are eventually blocked (those who didn't link theirs). The second source says, "The telecommunications in Nigeria are gradually feeling the heat of losing numerous customers from these linking of SIM cards with NINs. The panic amongst the telecoms is too much." |

Gov Ortom, Bandits operating in 24 Nigerian states Armed bandits are currently operating in at least 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory, according to Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom (FCT). The governor made the remarks during a workshop at the Correspondence Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Abuja. Ortom, who spoke virtually at the conference, warned that the country’s food security would be jeopardized if the issue was not resolved by the federal government. “Without ranching rules, herdsmen may soon be at every doorstep,” he said, warning that farming and food security across the country will be jeopardized. Farmers can only be safe from herdsmen attacks if open grazing is prohibited. Ranching is common in many countries around the world, including Africa. “Kidnappings of all types of people are on the rise across the world, and this is a dangerous trend. We have no way of knowing who is telling the truth. However, there is a clear allegation that desperate politicians brought foreign mercenaries into the country to help them win elections. Ali Ndume, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Army, who was also present at the meeting, accused the leaders of inflaming ethnic tensions in the country. |

Everyone is aware that God is not a being, which is why it is impossible to imagine that a man may take God to court, however it is the truth. Ernie Chambers, an attorney and the son of a pastor, is the one who dragged God to court. Ernie, who used to be born on July 10, 1937, graduated from Harvard Law School in 1959. Ernie, an African- American from Nebraska, is the first and only African- American to serve as a Senator in Nebraska, as well as the first African- American to run for Governor in the United States. Ernie started up many in 2007 when he filed a criticism towards God. He also believed that God is to blame for various herbal disasters, including flooding, earthquakes, and other herbal calamities. He filed a lawsuit against God to secure an injunction that would restrict God from issuing dangerous threats. On the day of the hearing, in August of 2008, Ernie went to Court, and when the judge, Marlon Polk, determined to start the case, he noticed that the table reserved for God used to be empty, so he requested for God' s address, which Ernie couldn' t supply, so he dismissed the case due to the fact there used to be no way to provide God the Court Notice. Chambers later admitted that he believes God is not human, but he does not want the Court Notice served on him. He said that what he tried to do was once exhibit that each lawsuit, no relies on how absurd, may want to be brought to court.

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday, said Nigeria may become a failed state under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government. The Governors reaffirmed that urgent devolution of powers and restructuring had become imperative, warning that “Nigeria cannot afford another civil war”. After a meeting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, their communiqué said the country was drifting due to insecurity and deteriorating relationship between various groups. The Governors observed that differences were being stretched to the limit “by a government that clearly lacks the capacity to govern”. The meeting agreed that this has given rise to ethnic and tribal tensions, religious divisions, and various forms of social and political cleavages. The governors insisted that Nigeria is in dire need of leadership, “to avert the looming disaster”. The PDP chieftains protested that their “hands are tied behind” because the entire “coercive authority in the country” is monopolized by the APC government. They said time has come to take advantage of the ongoing Constitution Amendment process to decentralize Nigeria’s security architecture and adequately involve States and Local Governments. The communique urged the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission to send a new Allocation Formula that allocates more resources to States and Local Governments to the President for National Assembly’s action

The North wants to retain power |
LEADERS of northern Nigeria from 17 groups, including the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), declared on Friday that the North was ready for restructuring of Nigeria but it would not succumb to any blackmail to rotate the presidency with the South. The groups, under the aegis of the Northern Peoples Summit, took that decision in Kaduna, Kaduna State, after what they described as two days of deliberations. They issued a 12-point communique literally emphasising the political advantage which the North currently enjoys over the South. “The North will not be stampeded or blackmailed into taking major decisions around rotating the presidency,” they said. “The Northern Peoples Summit convened on the 7th and 8th April, 2021 at Arewa House, Kaduna, to discuss the issues bedeviling the North and the Nigerian State. These include security, restructuring, economic, politics and the survival of the Nigerian State. “After two days’ intensive discussions, the summit resolved as follows: “To sustain the summit as a productive forum for utilising pan-Northern assets in the search for resolution of Northern problems; “To encourage Northern elites and political leadership to improve their levels of sensitivity to inclusiveness and management of the North’s pluralism. The North will be stronger if it addresses its internal weaknesses, particularly around ethnoreligious matters, as it relates to its challenges with the rest of Nigeria. Perception and practise of creating minorities and majorities among Northerners should have no place in the North, nor is discrimination on the basis of place, faith or ethnic group of any Northerner; “The North believes that restructuring the country is now a vital necessity for survival as one united entity. “The North will not be stampeded or blackmailed into taking major decisions around rotating the presidency. “The North draws attention of the country to the inherent fragility of the Nigerian state. For Nigeria to survive, all parts of the country must equally commit to supporting its continuation as one entity, without equivocation or subterfuge. The North extends an invitation to groups that are genuinely interested in discussing the future of the country. The North believes that every interest can be accommodated in one united, just and equitable nation, but the North cannot be the sole custodian of this endeavour. “The North warns against the continuation of demonisation, attacks and killings of Northerners in the Southern parts of the country. It demands that federal and state governments must take firmer steps to protect members of Northern communities who live in the South. This includes the arrest and prosecution of persons who are involved in these dangerous activities. “The North urges Northern communities to continue to exercise restraint and be good hosts. “The North invites the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari, Northern governors and legislators to the fact that under their watch, the North has sunk lower in all indices of human existence. Delegates at the summit commit to continuously engage in searching for solutions, as well as raising their voices against poor governance, corruption and absence of commitment to deal with insecurity, poverty and hopelessness among Northerners. “Government should show effective presence in all ungoverned spaces in the North. “The North resolves that there should be government backed negotiations and dialogue with the bandits, Boko Haram and affected communities for effective peace in the North. “The North appreciates the response of H.E. Governor of Plateau State and Chairman, Northern Governors Forum (NGF) Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, to its invitation to attend the summit and be a resource person who enriched our discussions. “The Northern Peoples Summit will reconvene in the near future. Signatories to the communique are Air Marshal Al-amin Daggash, Northern Elders Forum (NEF); Ambassador Ibrahim Mai-Sule, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF); Dr Usman Bugaje, Arewa Research Development Project (ARDP); Engr. Bello Suleiman, Code Group (CG); Dr Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe; The Northern Movement (TNM); Dr Innocent Ahure, Northern Development Resource Centre (NDRC); Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa, Kano Concern Citizens Initiative (KCCI); Hajiya Bilkisu Oniyangi, Arewa Initiative for Good Governance (AIGG); Dr Rose Danladi Idi, Northern Initiative Forum for Development (NIFD); Nastrura Ashir Shariff, Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG); Yerima Shettima, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF); Murtala Mohammed, Joint Action Comm. of Northern Youth Ass (JACNYA); Comrade D. S. Rimoni, Middle Belt People Assembly (MBPA); Alhaji Muhammed Tahir, Amalgamated Union of Food Stuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria, Alhaji Awual Tukur (Galadiman Delta), Northern Union Rep. South South; Alhaji Iliyasu Yushau (Sarkin Hausawa Onitsha), Northern Union Reps South East; Alhaji Aliyu Yaro, Northern Union Rep. South West and Professor D. D. D. Sheni, Chairman, Communique Drafting Committee. The communique came a day after Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State issued a statement threatening reprisal attacks on Southerners in the North if what he called attacks on Northerners residing in the South did not stop. Matawalle’s statement reads in part: “As Northern leaders, our dignified silence in the face of constant provocation, attacks because of our desire for peace must not be taken as a sign of weakness as no community, no region has the monopoly of violence. “If Northerners and their means of livelihood will not be protected, accommodated and be dignified anywhere they chose to stay in any part of the South, Southerners should not expect such reciprocal protection from the North as the North has more than what it takes to respond to any kind of aggression and hatred. “We have seen the destruction, the killings and the devastation recently at Sasha Market against Northerners and their economic interests. “Properties worth billions of Naira were lost in addition to human lives, yet some leaders in the South West are downplaying the atrocities committed or at best justifying it. Some of them have shamefully gone to the extent of apportioning blames on the victims and casualties of their aggression. “Last Sunday’s killings of innocent Northerners in Imo is one too many and no matter how we love peace, leaders with conscience and fear of God must speak out against this continued barbarism and hatred. If that is allowed to continue, we will not take that any longer as no human life is better than another. “No business interest is better than another. In fact, in crisis situation, the South has more to lose in terms of its business interests in the North and the strategic nature they established themselves in the North than Northerners living in the South.” The ACF also issued a communique on Thursday in which it said it “received reports on the unfortunate killings of some northerners in the South East that seemed suspicious.” The forum said: “We call on security agencies to investigate these killings and fish out the culprits. We also warn our youths who have suddenly started distributing messages on the social media calling on reprisal attacks on Ibos and their business interests in the north. We the Arewa Consultative Forum stand against all lawless acts of self help and call on all northern youths to stop such evil plans. “They do not enjoy our support. The Arewa Consultative Forum believes in dialogue and consultation as a way of bringing peace and normalcy back to our troubled region and nation. We however condemn the payment of ransom and call on the bandits and insurgents who are holding other citizens as hostages to desist from such ungodly acts. “No religion that is practised in Northern Nigeria permits such sinful acts like holding other human beings as hostages for financial reward.”

The former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has criticized Buhari for going to a medical checkup in oversea. He stated that they are wonderful doctors in Nigeria and it will be encouraging for the President to patronize them. The former President has come out with fresh claims suggesting that the Buhari led administration is involved with favoritism and political nepotism. Goodluck Jonathan also claimed that his administration was a meritorious one and he left no room for nepotism rather he made sure that all the ethnic groups in Nigeria were appointed into his administration. He made these statements during a one-day visit to the Emir of Bauchi’s palace on Tuesday. Jonathan cited his appointment of the current governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, as the Minister of FCT during his administration and claims to have done that without knowing him. According to his words; “Yes, I did not know him when I met him and made him the FCT Minister,” Goodluck Jonathan stated. Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has said that the Yoruba nation has metamorphosed from calling for restructuring to self-determination. Aare, who said that the Yorubas are about 60 million, described the Yorubas as resolute and determined in whatever they do, adding that they never backed down in their pursuit for a particular course. Gani made this known during the send forth ceremony organised by the Oodua People’s Congress for his Chief Security Officer, Prince Aderinsoye Ramon, who had spent 13 years with him and clocked 76 years old, held yesterday in Lagos. He recalled that the call for restructuring started way back in 1991 during the lifetime of Aka Bashorun and the call is still relevant today. “The Yoruba nation has now metamorphosed from restructuring to self-determination now. “So, that will show you that the Yoruba is a race that is very resolute and determined in anything they are doing. “Now, majority of the Yoruba nation now are talking about self-determination not having the mind that they could be bulldozed. “I recall that the Yorubas started calling for restructuring in 1991 from Alao Aka Bashorun. But, we have not stopped till date. While describing his retired Chief Security Officer, Aare said that the celebrant would give a lecture to the members on how to be disciplined before he became his CSO. Adams noted that Prince Aderinsoye served him with all his heart, adding that he was always taken the reconciliatory role whenever there is a rift between him and his wife. He added that Aderinsoye would never bat an eyelid even if salaries were not paid for months. Aare, therefore, noted that the essence of the programme government is to let the whole world know that there is an advantage in loyalty

Ebonyi State government yesterday decided to raise 1,000 vigilantes to tackle the menace of herdsmen and banditry. The 1,000 planned local vigilantes are different from the state Security Network outfit known as Neighbourhood Security Network which has over 3,000 members. Out of the 1,000 vigilantes, 700 would be in charge of the grassroots while 300 would be securing the urban centres. The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the state Security Council Meeting held at the old Government House, Abakaliki, with all the security chiefs in attendance. He said: “The council had extensive discussions on the establishment of vigilantes and we want to take our security from the grassroots, the way it has always traditionally been done. Every community in Ebonyi State is to have five vigilantes and that will give us a total of 700 vigilantes in the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State. They will be outside our normal community vigilantes that have always been our traditional way of safeguarding our people, which the government encouraged that all the villages and communities should set out their own vigilantes. We all grew up to meet all these things being done and this is the right time creating barricades on the roads at odd hours and checkmating who is going out and coming in at our local government areas and communities.” On the attacks on police stations in the state, Ugbala said policemen had been mandated to secure their stations and that any station attacked would be closed down. He added: “The council resolved that the police in Ebonyi State and other security agencies should do their best to protect their police stations, that any police station that allows the division or area command to be attacked, government will have no option than to allow such division or command to be closed down. The reason is that our security agencies have the primary responsibilities of protecting not only their stations or personnel working with them but our citizens but where they cannot even protect themselves, it is a big problem because they are trained for that and government agreed that if the agencies allow their facilities to be attacked, then Ebonyi government will be requesting for a closure of such station or area command while the officers working in such places will face disciplinary actions.” |

Shehu Shocks Tinubu, Told Him The Naked Truth, "Don't Waste Your Time, No One Knows You In The North Shehu Sani began by advising Tinubu To Learn From Abiola' s Travails, he Says most northerners are hypocrites. Here are the rest of the story, stay with us. The former senator, representing Kaduna Central at the Senate house, Shehu Sani, has personally warned the Jagaban to be very careful in his dealings with northerners, especially the Northern elites, he said that most of them are hypocrites that would pull him down in his presidential ambitions especially now that he is gaining some popularity. Shehu Sani, who shedded light on his recent tweet to Tinubu on his 69th birthday to clear his age controversy, advised the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to get someone (Preferably Hausa) he trusts to always translate what they said in Hausa whenever he visits the North, Shehu added that majority of the common people in the North do not support the touted presidential ambition of Tinubu in 2023, for the fact that Shehu Sani who is an Hausa is saying this, Tinubu should be careful. He asked Tinubu to learn from the ordeals of late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola who, despite his " shadowy" support and achievement in the North, ended up being sabotaged and used by northerners. Sani, who spoke in Osogbo, yesterday, claimed that what northern elite tell Tinubu in English language is not what they say in Hausa and stressed the need for the former Lagos State governor to get a Hausa language translator whenever he visits the North. Shehu scared Tinubu when he said that even common people in the North are not in support of Tinubu' s plan on succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari and advised him to go back to the drawing board and see how he could gain support in the North. This is like an arrow fired to Tinubu who thought the North love him He said: " Well, the person of Asiwaju is the one I know in the field of struggle. He was one of those in the struggle for the restoration of democracy and also a leading figure in the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) while I was part of the fight for democracy. We worked together for MKO' s project and for the resistance against the annulment. " I know him personally. But what I tweeted is more of a Biblical/Shakespearian allegory or whatever one can use in sending message to someone and what I am trying to say is that as he is allegedly moving towards contesting for the presidency, he should try to know the actual feeling on ground as far as North is concerned because I know what Abiola went through. Shehu Sani continued; " Abiola served the North more than any other businessman from the western part of Nigeria. He printed the Quran and shared it to many Muslims. He donated houses and empowered people; he supported academics and religious clerics. Abiola was one of those passionate about the unity of Nigeria because of the solidarity between the South- West and the northern part of Nigeria. But how did he end up? They (northerners) conspired against him and sabotaged him and at the end of the day, he had gone. " When asked whether he would be supporting Tinubu when he finally throws his hat in the ring in contesting the 2023 presidential election, the former lawmaker said: " If my People' s Redemption Party (PRP) adopts him, I will support him. " The wisest answers any educated man can give.
