Federal Ministry of Transportation has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Eastern rail corridor on March 9, 2021. The rail project which has generated a lot of debate especially from that region is part of the Buhari-led administration’s railway modernization initiative. According to a press statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Transportation on February 28, 2021, and signed by its Director for Public Relations, Eric Ojiekwe, the disclosure was made by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, during an inspection tour to all the stations from Mobolaji Johnson Station at Ebute Metta to Ibadan station over the weekend. Amaechi further disclosed that the President has also approved the redirecting of the Eastern line to 2 new spurs namely; Abakaliki, Ebonyi State and Awka, Anambra State. The Minister also mentioned that the Federal Government has approved the commencement of the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail project and is also negotiating loans for the Lagos-Calabar rail project. On the take-off of the Ibadan-Kano rail project, Amaechi informed that the government is still seeking approval for a loan to enable it to take off. Speaking on the Lagos-Ibadan rail project, the minister noted that he has challenged Messrs China Civil Engineering and Construction Company to deploy global acceptable safety and security standards for the project. He directed that a central cooling system be installed in all the major train stations along that route. This announcement by the ministry would come as a welcome relief to agitators from that region who complained about being left behind in the current administration’s railway modernization projects as rail projects are going on in other regions and none had taken off in the region. The absence of a modern railway will adversely affect economic activities in the region. In one of his engagements with the National Assembly, Amaechi, while denying exclusion of Eastern rail line from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri in the ongoing rail construction and modernization, said that the delay was due to bureaucratic bottlenecks caused by the Public Procurement Act. |
Former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has called for the arrest of Abu, son of the recently arrested Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili, alleging that he is the perpetrator of crimes against innocent citizens. In a series of tweets on his Twitter handle on Monday, the minister commended operatives of the Oodua Peoples Congress for capturing Wakili, a godfather of terrorist activities in Ibarapa, Oyo State. He alleged that Abu had killed ten persons some days earlier and successfully terminated four human lives on Monday morning. The former aviation minister said just like his father, Abu is a foreign Fulani herder that should be arrested and prosecuted immediately, “or better still shoot him on sight." His tweet read, “I congratulate my friend and brother, Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland and the OPC for the successful capture of Wakili, one of the most barbaric and notorious foreign Fulani terrorists and cold-blooded killers, in the country. This is the way forward. Kudos! “There is no doubt that the newly captured Wakili is the godfather of terrorism in the South-West. However, the enforcer and 'hard man' of his terrorist cell is his son whose name is Abu. Abu killed 10 innocent souls three days ago and Chief Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho), who was utterly enraged, sent pictures of their bodies to me one hour after they were murdered. I forwarded the same to my friend and brother, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state who not only forwarded them to the Inspector-General of Police in my presence but also called him and briefed him. “The IGP assured him that he would take necessary action and look into the matter. Sadly, this morning, after the arrest of his father yesterday, Abu has killed four more innocent and defenceless souls. This is unacceptable. The boy is just a heartless and vicious beast and worse of all, he is not even a Nigerian. He, like his father Wakili together with most of the terrorists in our land, is a foreign Fulani and not a local one. I hereby call on the authorities to locate, arrest and prosecute Wakili's son, Abu, immediately or better still, shoot him on sight.” Fani-Kayode also called for the immediate release of the OPC members who were arrested for allegedly burning down the house of the Fulani warlord, killing a woman in the process. “I also call on them to charge Wakili to court as soon as possible & ensure that he is brought to justice for his horrendous crimes against the people of Ibarapa, Oyo state & the South-West. “Finally, I call for the immediate release of the OPC heroes who arrested the monster called Wakili and who handed him over to the authorities in one piece. Be rest assured that where the authorities refuse to arrest terrorists in the South-West, we reserve the right to do it ourselves and hand them over to the police for investigation.” He warned that under no circumstance should the captured Fulani warlord be set free, so as not to jeopardise the peace process. “Finally let me say the following, under no circumstances should Wakili be set free. If that were to happen for any reason, it would threaten and jeopardise the peace process that has been put in place very badly and it would cause many to lose faith and hope in what we are trying to achieve," he said. |
The former minister said the real Wakili has killed some persons, even after the arrest of the old man. Former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has stated that the old man arrested by members of the Oodua Peoples Congress on Sunday, said to be Fulani warlord Iskilu Wakili, is an impostor. In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode said the old man who was arrested and presented as Wakili is just a godfather of the alleged killer-herdsmen, adding that there is a real Iskilu Wakili who is more dangerous. Femi Fani-Kayode The former minister said the real Wakili has killed some persons, even after the arrest of the old man. He called on security agents and Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, to join forces and capture the real Wakili, whom he said was on a rampage. His tweet read, “One Isikilu Wakili, a foreign Fulani terrorist who operates in the Ibarapa area, is the most notorious, dangerous and bloodthirsty terrorist in the South-West today. He killed even more people yesterday. He is even worse than Abu and the old man that is in police custody in Ibadan. “The Isikilu Wakili that is still at large is the leading mafia don and he is a brutal and cold-blooded rapist and killer. He has brought torment and carnage to the people of the South-West. I call on my friend and brother, Sunday Igboho to support & and assist the Nigeria Police Force and intelligence agencies to find him, fish him out and bring him to justice. “This must be done within the law and it must be done with power and precision. Now is the time to free the people of Ibarapa and the SW of his wickedness and barbarity. Now is the time to do what ought to have been done long ago. I trust our security forces to do the right thing. If he resists arrest, they should send him to hell where he belongs. The old man that they have in custody is not the real Mcoy. He is simply one of the godfathers. “Isikilu is the real Mcoy and he is still out there killing our people. Only our security forces with the total support and commitment of Sunday Igboho, the local community and the gallant and fearless sons and daughters of Oduduwa can save the day. And save the day they must!” After the old man said to be Wakili was arrested on Sunday, the police detained the OPC members who carried out his arrest, accusing them of burning his house and killing a woman inside. Wakili is allegedly responsible for many killings and kidnappings in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State. |
Excellent!!! I believe we can separate ourselves from dysfunctional Nigerian system without wars or bloodshed. Let Oyo, Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, and the rest of Yoruba-speaking states follow. Akeredolu is doing wonderfully well. |

Kaduna1stson:See Aboki talking rubbish |
thebosstrevor1:Do your research very well about Benue state. Do you know why Benue state is called the Food Basket of the Nation ? Benue is a rich agricultural region; popularly grown crops includes; - Orange, mangoes, sweet potatoes, cassava, soya bean, guinea corn, flax, yams, sesame, rice, groundnuts, and Palm Tree. |
thebosstrevor1:Presently kwara state is the highest in Egg, Chicken and Turkey production. Ogun state and Oyo State are doing well in Pig production. As for crops, we can rely on Benue and plateau for supply untill we fully develop our region |
This will eventually be a blessing in disguise for the Yorubas. The Southwest will invest more in Agriculture and start exporting foods massively |
The Northern Nigeria is dominated by the majority hausa/fulanis who are specialized in farming system. After the border closure, these group of people engaged in a massive food production in order to boast our nation's economy. It was gathered that after the recent attacks on the hausa/fulani community in the south. Truck drivers started diverting their goods and all consumables to the neigbouring countries of Niger Republic and Cameroon. This photos were uploaded by Arewa Media writers showing group of northern vigilantes blocking food item-laden trucks from going south. According to them, this can be the only means to pay back the wrong doing of the southerners. As a patriotic Nigerian, I want to use this medium to call the attention of my fellow country men to kindly avoid anything that will led stage of anarchy in our dear nation.
