The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, apparently tired of calling on the Federal Government to release its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has begged Nigerians to lend their voices to the call for his release.

Kanu had in September last gone missing after soldiers stormed his home in Afara Ukwu, near Umuahia in Abia State.


The military authorities had severally denied taking Kanu, but IPOB insistently said that the soldiers acting on orders from above had taken Kanu with them during their visit.

In a press release signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB wondered why Nigerians were keeping quiet since Kanu’s disappearance last year.

The group said Kanu showed courage and spoke against the injustice in the country, and remained the only strong voice of the Igbo and Christians, the reason the federal government planned his disappearance.

The group expressed unhappiness that the same people Kanu fought for have failed to ask the federal government to produce him.

Part of the release which was sent to DAILY POST in Awka reads: “It is unfortunate that APC Government led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari arrested and jailed him for two years without trial and later kidnapped him and kept him without traces since 14th September 2017 because he saw ahead and spoke out without fear or favour.

“He was hunted like an antelope for standing firm on the way to the truth that led and moved the Nigerian Authority and her security operatives including those unscrupulous politicians in Abuja to kidnapp him since last year without any well meaning Nigerian asking questions for his whereabouts because he looked the cabals and jihadists in the eyes and called them what they are.

“He was betrayed because he looked at his brothers and sisters who have become slaves of the Hausa Fulani Caliphate in the eyes and told them they were nothing but slaves.

“He was hated by a few who are suffering from identity crisis because he tried to liberate them from mental and physical slavery.

“Nigerians and Africa at large need to celebrate the leader of IPOB, prophet Nnamdi Kanu. It is now categorically clear to all that three years after the prophecies of our leader is playing out like a movie and manifesting before our very eyes.

“All the prophecies and declarations of IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have come to pass, the recent scenario and statement from Rtd General T.Y Danjuma has clearly shown that Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB is the only good thing that happened to Christians in Nigeria particularly Southern Nigeria and Middle Belt region,” the release stated.

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday begin a two-day official visit to Lagos State, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan said on Wednesday.

According to Bamigbetan, the President, will during the course of his visit carry out some groundbreaking ceremonies and inspect some ongoing projects in the State.

The ceremonies and events include but not limited to the following.. 

1. On arrival, the President will attend the Colloquium organised to mark the 66th Birthday of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu scheduled to hold at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Thursday.

2. He will perform the official flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Lekki Deep Sea Port project, Ibeju Lekki. On completion, the multi-purpose Lekki Deep Sea Port, located at the heart of the Lekki Free Trade Zone, would be one of the most modern ports in West Africa, offering enormous support to the growing commercial operation across Nigeria and the entire West African region.

3. He would also inspect the ongoing construction works at the Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island. Eko Atlantic City is expected to accommodate at least 250,000 residents and a daily flow of 150,000 commuters according to Mr Bamigbetan. 

4. The President would also commission the Ikeja Bus Terminal, expected to commute over a 100,000 residents across 23 bus routes in the State.

The State Government had also declared Thursday, March 29 as work free day to ease movement in and around the State. 

Hence, avoid avoidable trips so you don't get stuck in traffic all day.

A group of armed robbers came fully prepared as they stormed a residence in Sapele area of Delta state recently. The hoodlums came with various weapons and wrecked havoc on the occupants including a man who relocated from Spain with his wife.

According to reports, the white man relocated with his wife from Spain to Sapele and has been living in the area for about two years now. The armed robbers reportedly used wood on the couple along with axes as they were beaten and injured in the process of the robbery.

Below is what Rexbtony Omaghomi Okoroatsegor shared on Facebook;

"Hoodlums came to my mum's Residence destroy properties shot and injured my mum and her Husband as well as my Brother.

This happened in Sapele Delta state Nigeria on the 25th of March 2018 they operated for close to 3hours without response from police or vigilantes from 12:00AM to 3:30AM.

They came with guns cutlasses and iron cutter which they used on the burglary proof. What gave them tough time was the iron door else they would have wreck more havoc and they made away with some money and valuables destroying our vehicle, but while leaving they left behind a cut to sized gun which obviously fell when they where running out of the compound.

Funny enough my younger brother was able to sneak out to call neighbors but nobody came out he further ran to Ghana road Police station in Sapele which was the closest to us at Anigboro Rd around Owumi/abeke and they said its not their Business( in their words they said: e no concern us) asking him my younger one to go to the main Police station after stadium far off.

Advice please don't rely on fancy doors use those iron doors constructed by welders it helps cos if it was to be the fancy one it wont take time to breaking I thank God for Life as my mum survived the gun shot at her."

Police operatives in Rivers state have apprehended a notorious drug trafficker and a kidnap suspect who abducted and threatened to rape two young girls in Nkpolu area in Port-Harcourt, the state capital. The suspect was arrested and is currently in custody, while his female victims were rescued by the police officers.

Also, a fruitful raid was carried out in the same Nkpolu area where a cultist/armed robber suspect was arrested along with his three cousins. A locally made pistol was recovered from his house which he allegedly confessed to ownership.
