Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) has asked Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom to rise up to his responsibilities as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the state and defend the people of the state from the attacks of Fulani herdsmen.
He said as the chief security officer of the state, Ortom should be able to organise his people to confront the herdsmen like his counterpart, Ayo Fayose did in Ekiti.
He however said rather than act, Ortom usually breaks down in tears and keeps blaming the federal government whenever the people he swore to protect are attacked.
“The point I always make and I make it again is that the greatest failure and the person who should take all the blame for what is happening is the state governor, Samuel Ortom. Ortom is the chief security officer of Benue. Every time, the killings happen, he breaks down in tears and puts his hands on his head and keeps blaming the federal government”.
“Under criminal law, every Nigerian has a right of self-defence. There is no reason why Ortom shouldn’t have organised the people of Benue state into a state of collective self-defence in which he will totally arm them to face these murderers”.
“Instead, he keeps on weeping all the time. No wonder the Benue students and other young people chased him with stones because compared to the federal government, his own failure is the worst” he said.

But family friend Connor Frye told Mirror Online that Lexi's family are struggling to deal with the unexpected travel costs and rising funeral expenses that have come with the tragic death.
"It's just a devastating loss for all us," he explained.
"We are hoping people would donate to help pay for the funeral costs as Leslie doesn't have any money to do it herself. I was a close friend to Lexi before she left Minnesota where she is from, and I am hoping we can get all the support we can for her."
To help the family, close friends have set up a GoFundMe page which has already raised $5,170 of the $8,000 goal.
The page states that Lexi leaves behind her mum, her 17-year-old brother David and her seven-year-old sister, Macie.
"Leslie must now travel to Las Vegas to sort through and pack Lexi’s belongings, retrieve Lexi’s beloved dog, Rocko, and finally, bring Lexi back home to Minnesota," it continues.

NAIJACUBEZ: A 21-year-old student, Sunday Anthony was on Tuesday sentenced to nine months imprisonment by an Upper Area Court sitting in Masaka, Nasarawa State, for stealing a bottle of palm oil. The Judge, Justice Yakubu Ishaku, sentenced the convict, who resides at Jankawa Masaka, Nasarawa State after he pleaded guilty to the 2-count charge of criminal trespass and theft. The convict, who begged for forgiveness, was, however, given N10,000 option of fine. Earlier, the prosecutor, Frank Swem, had told the court that two complainants, Ibrahim Christiana and Benjamin Uzor, both Anthony’s co-tenants, reported the matter at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Masaka, on Jan. 5. Swem said, “On Jan. 2, at about 6 p.m., the defendant criminally trespassed into the apartments and carted away the following items: a bottle of palm oil and 62 ‘mudu’ of beans all valued at N29,850.
arinze198: The Anglican Church in Aguata diocese, Anambra State has sacked three of the church ministers for their alleged engagement in homosexual activities in some church parishes under the diocese.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the ministers (names withheld) were sent away from the church after the church council under the leadership of the Anglican Bishop found them culpable of gross misconduct and sodomy committed in the various parishes.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the victims were mainly young boys who the ministers forcefully penetrated and sexually abused through the anus in the parishes where they were in charge. One of the ministers was said to have served at St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Umuchu town in Aguata local Government Area in Anambra State.
It was gathered that the Bishop had received several reports of sexual molestation of young boys in some parishes around Aguata and Orumba Local Governments under the metropolitan sea of the church.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the Bishop first transferred the pastors to other parishes over the complaints of their unholy activities. However, the complaints kept coming despite the transfers as some members of the church were still victims in the new parishes assigned to them and there were protests against the ministers in question.
Thus, a panel was said to have been set up to investigate the allegations and some of the victims testified against the ministers and made some shocking revelations against them. During the investigation, the suspects were also discovered to have committed other offences against the church and the members and they were found culpable. The panel therefore recommended for their dismissal to save the image of the church.
Some of the church members who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS confirmed the incident and revealed that the ministers in question had defiled many young boys in their various parishes and the victims parents protested to the Bishop.
The sources who did not want their names to be published said they were ministers in the church who formed themselves into a kind of cult group who had defiled the young boys and their parents were ashamed to mention them to save the image of the church.
One of the sources said what baffled most of their members was the fact that the ministers were all married yet they still engaged in such act. This raised serious suspicion that they were committing such unholy act for other purposes other than for sexual satisfaction.
The Bishop could not be reached for comment but sources close to the Bishop confirmed the incident and said they have since been dismissed from the church.
