PoliticsAbuja Gridlock: Aturu, Ogunye Condemn Patience Jonathan by Godson201333(op): 2:14am On Aug 17, 2013
Human rights activists have condemned the wife of President Gooluck Jonathan, Patience, for causing gridlock that inhibited movement at the nation’s capital, Abuja, on Thursday.

The first lady had organised a women event, involving about 10,000 females at the Federal Capital Territory.

In an interview with our correspondent, Lagos lawyer, Bamidele Aturu, said the action of Patience was “symptomatic of elite privatisation” of the country.

He said, “This kind of action is one of the symptoms of the hijack of the country by the elite. As far as people like the President’s wife are concerned, the country belongs to them and they believe they can do whatever they want.

“That is a feudal mentality. Mind you, she is not the only one who does this kind of thing. The wives of governors of the various states are also guilty. It simply shows that the members of the ruling class are incapable of checking themselves.

“The President himself is civil but he has the responsibility of cautioning his wife. We are not in a feudal society, Nigeria is a republic. We should exhibit our republican status.”

Another human rights lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, told Saturday PUNCH that it was “simply sad” that despite numerous condemnations of the culture of bringing about a city’s lockdown by an executive’s spouse in the media, the ruling class has not been able to check itself.

Ogunye said it was grievous enough for the President to cause such massive restraint of human vehicular movement “not to speak of his spouse, who has no executive powers.”

The lawyer said, “First it was Lagos, then Port Harcourt. Now it is Abuja. Perhaps she is trying to generate a feudal character by grinding the major cities in the country to a halt whenever she visits.

“It is emblematic of the serious problem of governance. This is a problem Nigeria needs to be saved from because we are already experiencing a gridlock in the socio-political atmosphere in this country.”

Ogunye pointed out that it is necessary to start thinking seriously about a class action to restrain the President’s wife from causing obstruction to the day-to-day activities of Nigerians.

CrimeFake Doctor Delivered Over 90 Babies by Godson201333(op): 2:05am On Aug 17, 2013
A man who holds a secondary school certificate, Stephen Nwankwo, but worked as a doctor in a fake hospital has been arrested alongside the owner of the hospital.

Nwankwo said they took delivery of over 90 babies within the two years he worked in the hospital established by 39-year-old Gabriel Onyema, another secondary school leaver, who lives in Ghana and sells paper.

The suspects spoke with journalists while being paraded on Friday at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja.

Spokesperson for the police command, Ngozi Braide, said Nwankwo and Onyema were arrested by officers of Area ‘E’ Police Command, FESTAC Town, after a pregnant woman, who had gone to the hospital, died during labour.

40-year-old Nwankwo said he was an auxiliary doctor in a hospital in Ondo State before he moved to Lagos, where he was employed by Onyema.

But while being questioned by journalists, it turned out that he was only a non-medical employee in the unnamed hospital.

The suspect said, “I worked in a hospital in Ondo State sometime ago. I finished from a secondary school before getting a job in Care Hospital, Iba.

“I met Gabriel (Onyema) in the house where he was living in Iba and told him the house was good for a hospital. We then teamed up and entered into a partnership with another man, Dr. Abayomi.

“Gabriel later said I should start working in the hospital as a doctor as well. We undertook up to 90 deliveries. There was a delivery we started about 8 am but did not end until 4 pm. The woman lost a lot of blood. When the baby did not come out on time, we used hand to pull the baby out.”

He, however, claimed that the woman and her baby survived the operation.

Onyema said he lives mostly in Ghana “where I sell bond papers.”

Asked if the hospital was registered, he said, “Work is ongoing on the registration.”

He stated, “I don’t really know all the details of what the doctors I employed there do. They are in the best position to tell you since I was always in Ghana.”

When journalists asked if he was aware his employees perform illegal procedures in the hospital, Onyema said, “Ask me a valid question.” He refused to answer questions onwards.

Meanwhile, the police also paraded four robbery suspects who were arrested during a gun battle with a team of anti-robbery men in Okokomaiko area of Lagos.

“On July 26, 2013, the control room got a distress call that a woman was being robbed in her house in Okokomaiko. The men of the anti-robbery team under the Area ‘E’ Command were able to arrest Godwin Obinwa, who later gave a confession, which led to the arrest of other members of the gang – Nonso Mbonu, Emmanuel Andy and Duke Onugbo,” Braide said.

The police recovered eight guns at Fooma Hotel, Okokomaiko, where the robbers lodged.

johnck: Hello Tope, Godson, and others...plz i need your opinion on this matter

I wrote My WAEC as an external student in a school which has now liquidated due to poor management. However, I didn't collect my testimonial from them, of which i am not entitled to since i was an external candidate. Now, I have my WAEC result, and every other document on the student visa checklist except the secondary school testimonial. Can the absence of this testimonial negatively affect my visa application? By the way, i am an undergraduate student who have completed 3 semesters in a university already.
If you have Junior Waec certificate with your current waec print out then ya good to go and since ya in a university there,You do not have to worry much.

Car TalkNumber Plate: FRSC To Impound Vehicles Oct 1 by Godson201333(op): 1:44am On Aug 16, 2013
The Federal Road Safety Commission in Rivers State says it will impound vehicles without the new number plates at the expiration of its October 1 deadline.

The Sector Commander, Dr. Kayode Olagunju, announced this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Port Harcourt on Thursday.

Olagunju said the enforcement would begin as scheduled if the Federal Government did not extend the deadline.

He said the use of old number plate and driving licence was partly responsible for the high rate of road traffic offences.

The sector commander added that the situation had made it difficult for road safety officials to track down offenders.

Olagunju said, “The present number plate and driving licence is meant to enhance the credibility of data and it will enhance safety of lives on the highways and assist in the area of security.

“The plate is highly reflective and which means the issue of collision (accident) at night is tackled.

“The present number plate is attached to individual rather than vehicles and which means that if I’m going to sell my vehicle now, I’m not expected to sell my vehicle with my number plate.

“When people know that when they commit traffic offences and they can be easily traced due to the number plate system, definitely, the rate of traffic offences will be on the decline.”

PoliticsFive-year-old Girl Abducted At Redemption Camp by Godson201333(op): 1:30am On Aug 16, 2013
The abduction of a five-year-old girl, Oluwaseun Ogungbemile, at the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has thrown her parents into panic.

It was learnt that the girl, in company with her parents, had gone to the camp at Kilometre 46 on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, to attend the one-week annual convention of the church that ended on Sunday.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the girl, who is the youngest child of her parents, was last seen playing with two of her cousins on Friday, August 9, 2013.

The victim’s aunt, Omotade Odunowo, told our correspondent that the matter had been reported to the police.

She said, “She (Oluwaseun) was staying at a rented chalet in the camp along with her parents. Around 10am on that day, she was seen with two of her younger cousins, who are between the ages of two and three.

“After sometime, we did not see her again. Due to the young ages of the little children who were with her at the time of her disappearance, we have not been able to know what happened exactly.”

Odunowo said all efforts to trace the victim’s whereabouts proved abortive and the family believed that she had been abducted.

She said the family had searched every nook and cranny of the camp and reported to the relevant authorities in RCCG, all to no avail.

She added that no one had called the family to demand a ransom.

Odunowo said, “We have been traumatised since then and cannot wait for the safe return of our daughter back home. We shall therefore be extremely grateful to receive any information that may lead to our reunion with Oluwaseun. She is adorable, smart and talks a lot.”

She said the girl’s parents had not been alright since the incident. She said the mother had refused to go back to work since her daughter went missing.

She said, “Oluwaseun’s mother has not left the Redemption Camp since the incident occurred. She is still hoping that the person that took her away would bring her back.”

When contacted on the telephone, the state police command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, adding that the matter was being investigated at the Redemption Camp Police Station.

“The parents of the victim said they came to the camp with eight children and one of them had gone missing. We have swung into action and we want to assure the family that the little girl will be found,” he said.

A security official at the church, who refused to identify himself, said the matter had been reported to the police.

He however refused to disclose further information, adding that it was not the wish of the church that the news of the abduction be leaked to members of the public.

Toluth: @Godson, my question a bit related to that of Ogbeche77. Pls can I use a certified photocopy of transcript to apply to schools directly?
I hope u don't mind this question, did u apply for the winter or summer semester?
If its summer, can u give me a list of schls u applied to? Cos very few schls are admitting into msc economics so far from what I'm seeing on the daad site. Infact, I can say just 2 are under uni-assist( uni of kiel and maburg) and I would like to apply to few more to increase my chances. Thanks sir
I have been here for a while bro so why not just go to braintrack.com,Where you can see all the schools in Germany and view them one after the other.Yeah a photocopy transcript should work for you!

Tamax: Bro... Well done sir.. Concerning the insurance issue u meantion... My pal in German said I should sign my insurance deal with DAK which I have did and they said the will mail me my Conditional Health Acceptance Letter which I can also document with other documents that I wanna use for the visa interview. So my question are as follows---
1.Which insurance company do u deal with, its in 9ja or where ? And does it neccessary to have conditional insurance letter for student visa interview or for visa to be granted?
2. If possible I will like to know cheap insurance company that I can deal with and other info concerning insurance base on student visa stuff if they are neccassary as the case may be. Thanks
1.You will need a travel health Insurance when you have already been secured the visa which starts reading from your traveling date.It is part of visa requirement.

2.I am sure that after reading the good news from the embassy that you should bring your International passport with a 3 month valid travel insurance,Ya gonna get impatience and cant wait for someone to get you health insurance from Germany.

You can always do this in Nigeria however when you get here you must switch to their own as soon as you get here.It take less than 20 minutes.

Aiico Insurance-----3 month = 23,000naira.
Igi Insurance------3 month = 15,000 naira

we also have mansard,alliance insurance......

Yeah three different application forms with separate documents already certified,Also you receipt for paying uni assist..Let all the documents be in one envelope and uni assist will help you distribute to schools after confirming everything if something is wrong or in case of incomplete document they will alert you and stopped your processing until you give them what they need.Once you miss that admission season without submitting missing documents all your money don go be that oo...

Make una no vex abeg.. It can be confusing.. I have seen some different replies to the same question.. Lemi clearify well abeg.

I have a transcript from my university, addressed to a nigerian university. If I want to apply for say through uni asist, is it not to scan the transcript and the letter of recommendation from your say lecturer, and statement of result and mail it to them, or even the school you wish to apply for. That's for electronic

Say when time come for mailing.. Do I have to apply for another one to be sent to them directly? I also read that a laywer can certify it for you, I hope so because I don't stay in a town where their embassy dey.. And its far.

And lastly how much does DHL or Fedex or anybody you use cost to send thoes documents.

I guess what I am trying to say is how much will the application process cost on average.

Thanks in anticipation.
1.All those electronic applications does not work for Nigerians,Send your documents to school..dem never believe photocopy without being certified you come dey think of electronic.

Fed ex 3 days 8900 naira 3 days to Germany,DHL 13,000 Naira....fixed.

Ems somewhat 3,000 naira 2-3 days.

Ni post registered Mail...somewhat 1,200 5-7 working days.

while applying i spent roughly 50k or more on applications,I applied to more than 9 schools,Got admitted to 7 and 1 rejected and one no response.

I did three applications through uni assist and others weren't under uni assist so na direct application..

Finally i choosed Bayern cos of so many reason just ignored the rest.
