CrimeFalling Tree Kills 31, Injures 16 In Imo by Godson201333(op): 1:00am On May 18, 2013
Thirty-one persons, including two sisters, were killed when a tree at the Ukwu Uko evening market at Umuejinwaoke Umudagu village, Mbieri, Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo State, fell on them.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 16 other victims sustained varying degrees of injury during the incident, which was caused by a rainstorm on Thursday night.

A resident of the community, Mr. Nnaemeka Emenyonu, told NAN in Owerri that the tree fell on the affected persons about 8:00 pm.

He said the tree also destroyed the village hall.

“The big tree fell suddenly, killing 31 people on the spot and injuring 16 others. Those injured were taken to the hospital.

“The victims include two sisters, who were selling tomatoes. Honestly, this is the saddest event in the history of our community,” he said.

The traditional ruler of the community, Eze Godwin Duru, lamented that such a tragic incident had never occurred in the community.

“I do not know what to say. God, what can we call this? My people were destroyed within a twinkle of an eye, what a pity,” he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Joy Elemoko, declined comment on the incident after several efforts to get the command’s reaction to the issue.

CrimeCourt Sentences Woman For Removing Man’s Teeth by Godson201333(op): 1:45am On May 16, 2013
A magistrate of the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Yaba, Lagos State on Monday, sentenced Mrs. Abiodun Olajide, the woman who removed a man’s two teeth with a slap, to 120 hours of community service.

Olajide, 30, had pleaded guilty to the two counts of assaulting one Augustine Olukukoyi when she was first arraigned in April.

However, there was mild drama in the court when the magistrate was about to deliver her judgement.

Olajide, who had pleaded guilty, then changed her plea to not guilty through her defence counsel, one Macauley.

The magistrate, Mrs. S.K Matepo, said Olajide’s sudden change of mind was due to the influence of her counsel who had voluntarily taken up the matter that morning.

Matepo, while reprimanding Macauley for swaying Olajide, said lawyers were supposed to alleviate the burden of defendants and not to compound it by unnecessarily prolonging simple court matters.

She said, “That is why they say lawyers are liars because what is straightforward, we always want to twist it.

futurewise11: If the school is under uni assist, tell ur skool to include ur applicant number and send it to uni assist directly.are u not going to certify it?
Its not necessary for him to certify transcript but let the school send it to Uni assist directly including your applicant number..Pay your school for courier charges.
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by Godson201333(m): 1:10pm On May 15, 2013
@Damsaty16.....6 schools through uni assisthuhBe ready to pay 15 euro extra for each of the schools oo but at least 3 or 2 is Okay..Once your documents are complete then you got no worries.

@Emeka55 send your documents using EMS JOOR,I used that during mine,They delivered to Uni assit within 5 working days,It cost just 3000 naira....If not try FED EX,I really do not like DHL joor, fed ex will charge you 8950 naira within 3 working days.DHL will charge you for like 13k and they deliver within 4-5 days.

If you are applying as an under graduate get ready to send confirmation of your waec result to uni assist directly,If not uni assist gives bad news when the admission deadline is over and you won't get your money back...you can also call their customer care and always quote your application number to them.

You should make it snappy so that you can know your fate before next month.
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by Godson201333(m): 1:01pm On May 15, 2013
@Emeka55 Very simple,If you write them e mail,Uni assist won't get back to you immediately because alot of students are sending them messages too.Just log on to uni assist website using your username and passport...You will see the status of your document...They normally update each member profile when they receive your documents, when they process it,after they have confirmed your payment and either you have been given an admission or not....Uni assist so simple...

The german appointment is now a very strict one, which has given some rouges avenue to make huge sum of money.. They charged as much as 20K to help you book appointment, maybe they have some kind of In-house help that does the book for them internally.. Last week, I urgently need an appointment for my parent and I tried couple of times to book it through their portal online but no date showed up. With frustration I went to german embassy to manually request for a date and they today I have to book it through there portal, I felt bad.. On my going back to the house a guy approached me saying he can help me book the german appointment, at first I feel a bit happy until he told me that I will have to pay 20K in full before he could do anything to get the appointment for me which I didn't compile..

I went home, and a night after I was so lucky to come across a single date that showed up that evening quickly I rushed to book it for my parent after booking it I got a confirmation to my email address... I was very happy!

PoliticsLagos Bans Keke Napep From Major Highways by Godson201333(op): 7:12am On May 11, 2013
agos State government said it has banned Tri-cycles popularly called Keke Napep from plying major roads in the state, saying their operations constitute nuisance on state roads.
The Commissioner for transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa who disclosed this yesterday at a press briefing said the use of commercial motorcycles and Tri-cycles were not part of the state transportation model.
He said that the state government had held several meetings with the unions on the development, adding “they have agreed to stay away from these roads.”

Opeifa listed the roads where tri-cycles operation has been outlawed atthe entire Victoria Island, Government Residential Area, GRA Ikeja and Ikoyi. Also on Awolowo road and Awolowo way, Alausa and the entire major roads in Surulere local government area.

The commissioner explained that tri-cycle isn’t a replacement for motorcycle popularly called Okada in the state.
He added that, “it isn’t a sustainable means of transport for the state especially Lagos that is a megacity.

“I learnt that some Okada riders have begun to sell their motorcycles to buy tricycle but they can no longer operate on these major roads again.”
He explained that section 3 of the 2012 Lagos road traffic law also outlawed the operation of the tri-cycle in the state.
“After that law was gazetted, the state government allowed tri-cycles to operate on some of these roads because vehicles available in those roads weren’t enough to convey the passengers plying the road,” he said.

He said the state “has enough Bus Rapid Transport, BRT and LAGBUS buses, taxis and others are now available on these roads and the tricycle wouldn’t be needed.”

According to him “they constitute security threat to lives and property in the state. While we are proud to improve on information of the removal of over 4,300 abandoned and disused vehicles from Lagos roads, it is saddening that recent survey by the CDA/CDC’s under the supervision of the Ministry of Rural Development have again in the last 3 months identified another 4,632 vehicles abandoned on over 9,100 roads in Lagos State.

“These vehicles are veritable tools for hoodlums, miscreants, armed robbers and other forms of social vices. So also they pose health risk. We will not relent on enforcement.
“To spare part dealers vehicle/Auto sales dealers please be advised as vehicles illegally displayed on road setback will be treated as abandoned/disused vehicle.”

The commissioner said , the state government has instructed officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA and Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, to commence immediate impoundment of any vehicle found on the pavement.

Governor Mr. Babatunde Fashola had last year signed the road traffic bill into law, aimed at improving safety on the Lagos roads.

I am here for you now bros,Saw your question but kinda ignored it earlier.

Well in your case your chances of getting German visa is low,Because you need to forget about that your south africa visa and apply freshly for visiting visa. They have got nothing to do with your south africa visa.

You do need proof of finance, where to stay and main reasons of going there. For now you cannot even book an appointment because every date has been fully booked.(Its summer and there are alot of applicants.)
