Politics‎Nigeria Police Extends Grace Period For Enforcement To 2nd October, 2025 by Godspowerpro(op): 7:37am On Aug 12, 2025
Psalm 150:6 KJV
[6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved a further extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows, with the new enforcement date now set for 2nd October, 2025, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

This decision follows a significant surge in applications via the official portal, reflecting heightened public compliance with the directive. In light of this, the Force considers it imperative to allow sufficient time for the meticulous scrutiny of applications to ensure that the permit is issued only to eligible and qualified individuals, in line with national security considerations.

The extension will also provide room for the continued fine-tuning of verification processes, both digital and physical, to maintain the integrity of the permit system and prevent abuse. The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms that the authorized platform for the application remains https://possap.gov.ng and advises citizens to disregard any unofficial channels.

Members of the public are further encouraged to report all forms of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the appropriate Police authorities, including via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

The Nigeria Police Force appreciates the cooperation of the Nigerian people and remains committed to balancing public convenience with robust security measures for the safety of all.

The Nigeria Police Force has debunked and denied a viral social media report alleging that, the Nigeria Police arrested, detained and tortured Mr. Omoyele Sowore in his custody.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers NAOSNP by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that, "The Nigeria Police Force is compelled to address and decisively correct the recent wave of disinformation being peddled in connection with the lawful arrest and detention of Mr. Omoyele Sowore—a figure known for manipulating public narratives and weaponizing propaganda to malign state institutions and their leadership, particularly the office of the Inspector-General of Police."

According to the statement, "Contrary to the falsehoods being circulated, Mr. Sowore was arrested based on credible, corroborated allegations involving criminal offences such as forgery, cyberstalking, and other infractions currently under active investigation. The arrest was effected in full compliance with extant legal provisions, and with strict adherence to constitutional safeguards, due process, and the rights of the suspect."

"To be clear, Mr. Sowore was released on bail well within the 48-hour constitutional window, in accordance with the provisions of Section 35(4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). He is fully aware of the nature of the allegations against him and has been duly informed of the charges. He is expected to appear before a court of competent jurisdiction in the coming days to answer to the accusations in a lawful and transparent judicial process."

"Equally false and grossly misleading is the narrative suggesting that Mr. Sowore was tortured or subjected to any form of inhuman or degrading treatment while in custody. The Nigeria Police Force maintains a zero-tolerance policy for torture, in alignment with the provisions of the Anti-Torture Act, 2017, and in fulfilment of Nigeria’s obligations under applicable international human rights instruments."

"The viral image of Mr. Sowore with a bandaged arm has been mischievously presented to mislead the public and stir unwarranted outrage. For the record, the bandage was part of his personal belongings at the time he honoured the Police’s invitation—prior to his arrest and detention. In any case, upon receiving the report that Mr. Sowore was later seen wearing the bandage while in custody, the Inspector-General of Police promptly ordered an internal investigation to ascertain how he had access to it during detention—particularly in light of his consistent refusal to undergo medical examination by the independent teams deployed by the Police. This proactive step underscores the IGP’s unwavering commitment to transparency, professionalism, and strict adherence to established custodial protocols."

"In the spirit of accountability and transparency, the Force promptly responded to the claims of brutality by dispatching a medical team—led by the Medical Director of the Muhammadu Buhari Police Hospital—to conduct an independent examination on 7th August 2025. Mr. Sowore declined the evaluation. A second medical team, this time led by the Force Medical Officer, was sent on 8th August 2025, and again, access was denied by the suspect. These refusals are officially documented. While the Police respect the individual’s right to decline medical assessment, the record must show that the opportunity for independent medical verification was twice provided and twice rejected."

"Furthermore, his continued detention is not arbitrary; it is anchored on a valid remand order issued by a competent court of jurisdiction. Every action taken by the Nigeria Police Force in this matter has been underpinned by legal authority, devoid of malice, bias, or political undertones."

"The Force urges the media, civil society actors, and the public to exercise greater diligence, restraint, and professional responsibility in their reporting. Sensationalism, particularly when driven by those with personal vendettas against the Police leadership, poses a clear risk to public trust and the integrity of ongoing investigations."

"The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the protection of human rights, respect for the rule of law, and the pursuit of justice without fear or favour. No individual—regardless of their status, influence, or social media reach—is above the law."

"Further updates on this matter will be provided as investigations proceed in accordance with due process."

I identify with growth.  So you are special today. I always look for every opportunity to celebrate you just the way I shout and fight against bad things. I want to say thank you all; you're the real MVPs, all the officers and men of FESTAC Police Division. Without you, there's no me. That's just what it is. Whether we like it or not. I can't sit down in that office and achieve results without you being in the field. And that is why I always take time to appreciate the men who do the real job out there. So, just know that I appreciate you all.'

Addressing the newly promoted officers, the elegant DPO Matilda said: 'I want to appreciate the promotees. We fight and then we settle but when it is a good thing, I also use that same pressure. That's why I am applying serious pressure to make you know you are special today.'

'Congratulations to all of you. I want to encourage you all to be good ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force. Project the good image of the Force, ensure you wear the ranks with the responsibilities, you have to lead by example. Be professional in your duty', she charged.

In the same vein, she appreciated the Dignitaries who were present at the event. The Chairman of PCRC, he's been a very wonderful person since I came into FESTAC. He helped me settle down and always looked out for me every time. I want to say thank you to our community youths and the OPC.'

The female DPO who assumed duty at FESTAC division about few months ago has taken up landmark projects to make life easy for her officers and men and the entire community. She embarked on a facelift of infrastructure such as the Division building and the clinic building, while also constructing a new visitors toilet and renovating the existing ones and also erecting a huge septic tank drainage system within the premises. She also installed 38 double solar panel streetlights to improve the ambience of the premises especially at night to affirm her belief that 'where there's light, darkness disappears'.

Many of the dignitaries at the event hailed the illustrious DPO for her giant strides since assuming office. In his goodwill message, the Patron of PCRC FESTAC Division, Mr Okoroji Onu said: 'Today is another milestone for us to come and felicitate with the officers who were promoted. FESTAC division is a wonderful division, and since some of us came close to the Division during the years of DPO Okon till now, we've always had a good relationship with the DPOs who have been working very hard.'

'The current DPO, CSP Matilda Ngbaronye has done well, and being the first female DPO in FESTAC, the female touch is there. When ladies enter a place, something must give way. We continue to pray that she succeeds and continues to do well.'

The Chairman, PCRC FESTAC division, Engr. Sita Obadji said: 'This is just the beginning for all the promotees, new rank, new job, new responsibility. They should live up to expectations.

The Chairman, PCRC Area E Command, Mr. Richard Antony Babatunde Williams said: 'FESTAC division is one of the best out of the 7 divisions in my command. I appreciate the incumbent Chairman, Engr. Sita for what he's doing. We have DPOs but by the fact that CSP Matilda is the first female DPO, she has been outstanding among them all. Within a few months, she has changed the face of our FESTAC division, light it up and that's why we are working with her. We really appreciate her for what she is doing.'

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Charity Imadojemu, 'all glory must go to God Almighty. Our DPO, CSP Matilda has gladdened our hearts. Since her arrival at the FESTAC Division, many good things have been happening, we don't need to say much, we can see for ourselves. We are here to work with you and deliver to you.'

'I want to appreciate our sister organization, the OPC that is assisting us to acquire information and intelligence in FESTAC. To Commander Abe and his team, we say thank you.'

Exodus 23:25-26 KJV

The Blessings of GOD speaks I'm the lives of those who serve HIM

The issue is with us not knowing where to stand

We Must Be Met Rejoicing In the LORD

Give no room for complaining or murmuring

Philippians 4:4 KJV
[4] Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice
.

Because Joy is critical during harvest

Isaiah 9:3 KJV
[3] Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil
.

We must guard our joy jealously

Habakkuk 3:17-19 KJV
[17] Although the fig tree shall not blossom, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labour of the olive shall fail, And the fields shall yield no meat; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls: [18] Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. [19] The LORD God is my strength, And he will make my feet like hinds' feet, And he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments
.

Joy delivers on GOD'S promises

The devil specializes in drawing our attention to what hasn't happened yet

Look at what GOD has said

Romans 4:17-21 KJV
[17] (as it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. [18] Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. [19] And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: [20] he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; [21] and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

1 Peter 1:8 KJV
[8] whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Joel 1:11-12 KJV
[11] Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished. [12] The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men
.

When your joy withers, everything else withers
Our joy is our choice to keep

Numbers 11:1 KJV
[1] And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp
.

Complaining complicates matter

1 Corinthians 10:10 KJV
[10] Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Murmuring leads to destruction

Deuteronomy 28:47-48 KJV
[47] Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; [48] therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in unclothedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
(shall not be our portion)

Psalm 11:3 KJV
[3] If the foundations be destroyed, What can the righteous do?

Isaiah 5:13 KJV
[13] Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

We have and serve a Rewarder GOD

Revelation 22:12 KJV
[12] And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

GOD makes it clear

1 Corinthians 3:14 KJV
[14] If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

Every labor in the Kingdom is ordained to secure Rewards, but there is a position to take

1. We Must Be Fully Persuaded Of Our Rewards

Romans 4:21 KJV
[21] and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Hebrews 10:35 KJV
[35] Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward
.

Unflinching, unshakable, unperturbed confidence

Isaiah 51:1-3 KJV
[1] Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. [2] Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him. [3] For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

Proverbs 23:18 KJV
[18] For surely there is an end; And thine expectation shall not be cut off.

Your experience is dictated by your expectations

Hebrews 6:10, 16-18 KJV
[10] For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
[16] For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. [17] Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: [18] that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

Every statement of GOD is bound by an oath
GOD is faithful and righteous

2. We Must Continue To Be On Duty

Matthew 24:45-47 KJV
[45] Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? [46] Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. [47] Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV
[58] Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Colossians 4:12 KJV
[12] Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God
.

The charge is ensure you're fully persuaded and active on duty

Lord I receive Grace to remain active, passionate and productive in my service

For HIS manifest presence, for confirming HIS Word with signs and wonders, give GOD thanks.

GOD is a Rewarder of those that diligently seek HIM.
HE is looking for who to bless, and honor.
HE has found you to be decorated.

The issue with many of us is not knowing where to stand to take full delivery of our rewards

2 Corinthians 1:24 KJV
[24] Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand
.

We must know where to stand
GOD is out to tell you and me what to do;

Be found on duty serving the LORD.
It is time to fasten your seatbelt and keep at it

Galatians 6:9 KJV
[9] And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not
.

Be found on duty so your labor will not be in vain, so as to avoid setback instead of commendation

Luke 19:13, 17 KJV
[13] And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
[17] And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities
.

Seven of them walked away, and the Rewarder never asked of them.

Stay on duty

Luke 12:45-46 KJV
[45] But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; [46] the lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers
.

You can't tell when HE'S coming, stay on duty, keep pressing.
HE'S coming, and HE keeps coming and coming, not once and for all.

Receive Grace to be found on duty, doing the bidding of the Master

Acts
26:22 KJV
[22] Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

Pray for the Grace for continuity.
We need HIS help to continue

Lord Jesus, I need Your help for continuity

If you want to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, follow these simple steps:

1. Admit that you are a Singer
2. Believe that Jesus died for your sin
3. Accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour
4. Confess Him as your Lord and personal Saviour

Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, forgive my sins, remove my name from the book of death, and put my name in the Book of Life.

Psalm 150:6 KJV
[6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Jude slept off while waiting for his roommate, Henry, who was used to keeping late nights. As he tried turning around, a huge dark figure with flaming eyes opened the door, he wanted to scream but all strength was gone out of him.
Was it a dream or vision?
He couldn't tell.
It stared deep into his eyes and handed him a letter.
He opened the letter, and there he found:

Dear Jude,
I couldn't make it home last night because I died. I thought life after death is an illusion but I'm here, lonely, afraid, and in pains and in torments. The torture is unending. I can't explain it but am dying a thousand times in a second.
You never told me this place was for real and how to avoid it. We grew up together, went to school together and did everything in common, but you never told me about this new life of yours. I asked you severally and you jokingly pushed it aside
I was a good man with a charitable heart, but that doesn't count here. The angel told me, I am without Christ, and my name is not in the Book of Life.
I asked you yesterday morning, what's this born-again stuff and you said you don't want to bore me. I am in pains, can you hear the screams, the torments of the great and the less? I have been told that this is for eternity. You betrayed our friendship; you never told me that sex outside marriage was fornication, but you cautioned me against HIV; you never told me getting high was drunkenness, you just told me not to drink and drive; you never told me lying for thisi....aahhhh...aaahhh...aaa.

I am dying again and again here, but am alive; the flames keep getting hotter. I wish you too were here. You deceived me to the end. If you had told me about Jesus and salvation, I know I couldn't be here.

I died only a few hours ago, because I was drunk while driving and ran into an electric pole; but it seems I have been here for years. Please, tell my family and all our friends about salvation.

I am dying again; but death won't come!
It's me,

Nathaniel Bassey, the popular Nigerian gospel singer, has unveiled a special edition of his Hallelujah Challenge, titled the “Kirikiri Edition.”

This one-day event is scheduled to take place on August 27, 2025, at the Kirikiri Medium Security Prison in Lagos.

Bassey, on Instagram, revealed that hosting this special session with inmates is a personal birthday wish, driven by his desire to bring hope and liberation through praise and worship.

The programme promises to be a powerful experience, featuring a special session of praise and worship, distribution of food, and the awarding of scholarships to some prisoners.

He added that the event may not be streamed live due to security concerns but encourages participants to join in spirit through prayer.

Bassey believed the event will bring liberty to the spirits of the inmates and result in a massive harvest of souls.

The regular Hallelujah Challenge is set to return in October 2025.

He wrote. “Later this month, 27th August 2025, I would be leading my brethren in the kiri medium prison in a Hallelujah challenge Praise and worship special session.

This is my heart’s desire for my birthday. We’ll praise, eat together and afterwards give out some scholarships.

The first ever Hallelujah challenge was in Acts 16:25-26, When paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to God. Though we may not stream this for security reasons, but you can pray along with us as we go. We trust God for liberty of the spirit and massive harvests of souls in Jesus’ name. Meanwhile, are you ready for the October edition?”

Politics10 Persistent Misconceptions About Africa by Godspowerpro(op): 11:13am On Jul 30, 2025
Psalm 150:6 KJV
[6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

You know how some people think there is only New York or only California in the U.S.? The same kind of thing happens with Africa. Those who don’t live on the mother continent often have strange misconceptions about it. For example, Africa is a country.

Log onto any social media platform, and you will find at least one person who refers to Africa as a country. In reality, Africa is the world’s second-largest and second-most populated continent. It is actually bigger than China, India, most of Europe, and the contiguous U.S. combined. It is divided into 54 independent countries filled to the brim with incredible cultures and rich histories.

However, many still hold these common misconceptions about Africa.

10. Wildlife Roams the Streets of the Suburbs

Africa is not just one giant jungle where humans and wild animals casually coexist. Sure, Africa is home to some incredible wildlife, but we don’t have to dodge lions on our way to work!

This misconception reminds me of a tourist who landed at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, expecting to be greeted by wildlife on the runway. To his surprise, he found it a modern city that looked even better than his hometown. Thanks to all the safari ads and “Wild Africa” documentaries he’d seen, he was convinced he’d step off the plane straight into the wilderness.

In reality, the two-legged human animals are far more dangerous than the four-legged ones, especially in South Africa, where crime rates have reached concerning levels. Here, we are more concerned about keeping an eye on our belongings than bumping into a lion!

9. It Is Safe to Approach Said Wildlife

Seriously, don’t do it. Keep your distance. Trust me, your zoom lens (from your car) will do a much better job than trying to explain to an outraged rhino why you’re so close to their natural habitat.

It’s also worthwhile noting that no matter how cute or hungry an animal looks, you should never feed them. It is dangerous and makes them far too used to humans for their own safety.

A safari is an unforgettable experience; the best way to enjoy it is by being a good guest. Stay respectful and appreciate the wildlife from a (safe!) distance. This is the best way to ensure these incredible creatures are around for future generations. Besides, wouldn’t you rather go home with amazing photos instead of trying to outrun an angry elephant?

8. Africa Has No Technology

Despite what many seem to think, Africa is not stuck in the Stone Age, sending messages by drum beats and smoke signals. When it comes to mobile technology, Africa is miles ahead! Case in point: M-Pesa, a mobile money transfer service, revolutionized banking in Kenya long before the rest of the world caught on. The reality is that Africans aren’t just keeping up with technology—they’re using it in innovative and life-changing ways.

From fintech solutions to AI-powered agriculture, Africa is on the cutting edge of technological advances. Take Nigeria’s first homegrown drone, Gulma, which can fly for nearly four hours straight. Or the humanoid robots designed by Thérèse Izay, directing traffic in the bustling streets of Kinshasa.

The continent isn’t just catching up. It’s using technology to solve problems in ways the rest of the world should be taking notes on!

7. There Is No Cold Weather

Yes, the Sahara Desert is massive (covering about a third of the continent), but that doesn’t mean that Africa is just one giant, sweltering sandbox!

Keep in mind that deserts aren’t always scorching. Nights in the Sahara can get ridiculously cold! And the rest of Africa? Not a desert at all. Most of it is covered in lush rainforests and sprawling savannas. The continent even boasts a handful of ski resorts!

Yes, it snows in Africa. Several countries experience snowfall thanks to high elevations—even near the equator. Meanwhile, in South Africa, winter temperatures often dip below freezing. In 2024, large parts of the country were blanketed in white for days.

The takeaway? Africa’s climate is way more diverse than most people think. And if you ever find yourself heading over here, maybe pack both a sunhat and a winter coat—just to be safe!

6. The Continent Is Part of the New World Order

While conspiracy theorists love to make it sound like a hidden cabal is controlling Africa’s future, the truth is far less dramatic. The whole idea that Africa is secretly part of the Illuminati’s New World Order is a bit ridiculous. The term “New World Order” has been around for a long time, usually referring to big shifts in global politics—things like the formation of the League of Nations. But of course, there’s no secret meeting where world leaders are plotting to take over the continent.

To be fair, Africa’s political and economic landscape isn’t exactly straightforward. From colonialism to modern-day challenges, Africa’s story is shaped by a whole mix of factors. Fueled by economic struggles, foreign interventions, and political instability, it’s easy to see why local people are inclined to fall for conspiracy theories and believe that external forces are pulling the strings. But that doesn’t mean it’s true.[5]

5. Everyone Speaks African

Just as no one goes around speaking “European” or “Asian,” there’s no single language called “African.” Since the continent boasts over 3,000 distinct ethnic groups, it’s no surprise that more than 2,000 languages are spoken here.

Arabic is the most widely spoken language, with over 170 million speakers, followed by English (about 130 million), French (115 million), Swahili (100 million), and several others like Berber, Hausa, Portuguese, and Spanish. With so many diverse cultures in one place, most Africans speak up to four languages! And it’s more than likely that English is one of those.

In Kenya, for example, many people are more fluent in English than their native languages. Over here in South Africa, we have 11 official languages, so multilingualism isn’t the exception here; it’s just how we roll

4. There Is War Everywhere

One of the biggest stereotypes about Africa is that it’s all poverty, corruption, and conflict. A war-ravaged desert populated by refugees. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. While challenges exist (just like anywhere else), Africa is a massive continent with incredible diversity. Most Africans are friendly and welcoming and live in countries that are steadily progressing in governance and development. Free and fair elections are the order of the day, with smooth, democratic transitions of power. This is more than can be said for some so-called “developed” countries!

Corruption is a common problem, but some African countries have been ranked among the least corrupt in the world! Transparency International’s 2016 Corruption Perception Index ranked Botswana 35th and Cape Verde 38th out of 176 countries surveyed. So, while the stereotypical war-ravaged images of the content might make for dramatic headlines, the reality is far more inspiring.

3. Women Are Without Rights

In 2003, the African Union adopted the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights and the Rights of Women in Africa, popularly known as the Maputo Protocol. This protocol underscores Africa’s dedication to creating a more equitable environment for women and guaranteeing comprehensive rights to women. It covers things like participation in political processes, social and political equality, autonomy in reproductive health decisions, and the elimination of harmful practices like female genital mutilation.

For many years, Africa has seen increased female representation in political leadership and improved access to education and healthcare for women. Though there might be a backlog in these areas compared to other more developed nations, these advancements reflect the ongoing efforts across Africa to uphold and promote women’s rights.

2. Africa’s History Is Void of Advanced Civilizations

Egypt is one of the most advanced ancient civilizations in the world. And it’s only one of many located in Africa. The continent is packed with rich histories, from the Great Zimbabwe ruins to the Kingdom of Mali, where Mansa Musa, the wealthiest man in history, ruled.

Many African nations have even had systems of governance emphasizing citizen participation and decision-making long before the term “democracy” was a thing. The Western world doesn’t have an exclusive license on political freedom.[9]

1. The Entire Continent Is Disease-Riddled

In 2013, a viral tweet instantly became a global lesson in what not to post online. The internet exploded, and within hours, Justine Sacco, a PR director, went from an unknown corporate exec to the face of online outrage. Even though she later apologized, the damage was done. Her missive reinforced the harmful stereotype that everyone in Africa is HIV+. A myth that the continent has been fighting for decades.

Let’s be real: not everyone in Africa is on the brink of dying, just like not everyone in the U.S. is obese. And those who do have HIV or any other illness deserve the same care, dignity, and respect as anyone facing a health challenge.

Gov. Sanwo-Olu Commissions Landmark Legacy Projects in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Commends Mayor Dele Oshinowo for Delivering Dividends of Democracy to the People

GODSPOWERPROJECT

Says, LASG fully committed to local govt. autonomy for grassroots development

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned several legacy projects in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), built by the Executive Chairman of the Council, Mayor Dele Oshinowo. The projects include the Otunba Bushura Alebiosu Multipurpose Building, Agboyi Community Primary School, Agboyi Ketu ICT Hub, Oba Taiwo Adesegun Lamina Sport Centre, and a network of four roads, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

During the commissioning ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Mayor Oshinowo for delivering dividends of democracy to people at the grassroots. He emphasized that his administration would continue to support the council in carrying out impactful projects, noting that the 57 councils in Lagos State enjoy full autonomy from the State Government. “As we formally commission these initiatives, let this achievement resound across every corner of Lagos; this administration’s work is ongoing and relentless,” he said.

The Governor urged incoming administrations to build on the progress made by their predecessors. “From Bariga to Badagry, from Ikorodu to Epe, we are steadfastly building a Lagos that delivers and a Lagos that works for all its people,” he said. He also encouraged residents to protect and maintain public facilities, assuring them of continued government investment in their community.

Mayor Oshinowo, in his welcome address, reflected on the journey of transformation that has taken place in Agboyi-Ketu under his leadership. “Today is also a day marked by both pride and nostalgia,” he said. “Pride because we are once again gathered to commission an array of live transforming projects because this movement also draws a curtain on a journey, a journey of passion, a journey of wisdom, of struggle, and of undeniable progress.”

The Mayor highlighted the council’s achievements, noting that when they assumed office in 2017, Agboyi-Ketu was a council full of potential, yet still striving to fully come into its own. “Eight years later, we did not only place Agboyi-Ketu on the map, we etched it into the conscience of the states and nation,” he said. “Today, no conversation about local governance in Nigeria is complete without referencing Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. We have become the blueprint not by mere words, but by work, by will, and by results.”

Mayor Oshinowo expressed pride in the legacy they are leaving behind, saying, “We are not just handing over stories, we are handing over legacies.” He also highlighted the various projects commissioned during his tenure, including the Otunba Bushura Alebiosu Multipurpose Building and 5.7 kilometers of constructed roads across Ketu, Alapere, Mile 12, and Ajelogo. “We didn’t just kick slow, we unlocked assets, mobility, and economic expansion,” he said.

The Mayor concluded by thanking the Governor for his support and expressing confidence in the incoming administration, led by Mrs. Adetola Abubakar. The commissioning of the legacy projects marks a significant milestone in the history of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, and the Governor’s presence underscores the State Government’s commitment to supporting local governance and community development.

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, has recovered stolen goods and electronics valued at over N300 million and arrested seven suspects in connection with various crimes in the state, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

The suspects were paraded on Thursday at the corps’ headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure.

Commander of the corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the arrests and recoveries were part of ongoing efforts to reduce crime in the state.

More than celebrating the arrest of criminals, we are celebrating the recovery of life and property,” he said. “Our operations in the past week have led to a reduction in cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, burglary, and cult-related activities.”

Among those arrested were suspects linked to a theft syndicate involving electronics. Adeleye said the items, mainly phones and gadgets, were stolen in Lagos and transported to Ondo State through the Ojota Motor Park.

According to him, one of the suspects boarded the same bus conveying the goods and repackaged the items into an empty carton during the journey. The act was discovered during a stop for fuel, prompting further investigation and the eventual recovery of the stolen goods.

Adeleye added that the goods belonged to a licensed electronics dealer in Ondo State and would be returned to the owner after the court processes the necessary documents.

Also paraded were suspects involved in a recent kidnap case. Two victims abducted along Itagbolu Road six days ago were rescued by Amotekun operatives after 96 hours of search in the forest. The kidnappers had demanded a N50 million ransom, but the victims’ families did not pay.

We advise residents not to pay ransom, and we are glad that most kidnap cases in the last two months have been resolved without payment,” he said.

Others paraded included a local gang leader arrested after evading arrest for six months, a repeat offender who jumped bail and fled to Kano but was rearrested and brought back, and a suspect involved in violent clashes with herders.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has refuted claims that its officials were involved in bribery in a case that the Appeal Court has just adjudicated upon, saying the reports making the rounds are mischievous and misleading.

In a press statement sent to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the Corps noted that the publication alleged that FRSC officers demanded a bribe from one Mr. Ugochukwu and, upon his refusal, booked him for traffic violations involving worn-out tyres and the absence of a spare tyre. It therefore, condemned the report as deceitful and irresponsible.

The statement debunked the notion, saying that what was brought before the court borders on enforcement of fundamental rights, and not bribery matter.

Below is the full statement as signed by the Public Education Officer, ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide;

The attention of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has been drawn to a misleading and mischievous report concerning the judgement of the Court of Appeal in the case between Mr. Shebb Emmanuel Ugochukwu vs FRSC and two others, stemming from an incident that occurred in 2022.

The publication falsely alleged that FRSC officers demanded a bribe from Mr. Ugochukwu and, upon his refusal, booked him for traffic violations involving worn-out tyres and the absence of a spare tyre. This accusation is not only baseless but appears to be a calculated attempt to tarnish the image of the Corps and incite public resentment against its officers.

For avoidance of doubt, Mr. Ugochukwu was lawfully stopped and booked for verifiable traffic offences committed by him. At no point during the encounter did any FRSC personnel solicit or receive any form of gratification. The allegation of bribery was never presented in court—neither at the Abia State High Court nor at the Court of Appeal. The issue before the court was one of fundamental rights enforcement, and not a criminal case of bribery. It is, therefore, deceitful and irresponsible to publish a report inferring that bribery was adjudicated upon or established in the course of the proceedings.

The Abia State High Court had awarded the sum of ₦30,000,000 (Thirty Million Naira) against the FRSC. Dissatisfied with this judgment, the Corps appealed, particularly contesting the excessive nature of the damages among others. The Court of Appeal rightly reduced the award to ₦10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) and strongly criticized the plaintiff’s demands, describing them as “a desire for gold digging.” The court further cautioned against attempts to exploit the legal process for unjust enrichment, citing precedent from the Supreme Court.

It is deeply ironic that a party whose claims were characterized by the court as gold-digging would turn around to falsely accuse law enforcement officers of bribery. This deliberate distortion of facts, intended to draw public sympathy and shift focus from the unfavorable court ruling, is condemnable.

We also wish to emphasize that the FRSC legal team is actively reviewing the procedural grounds upon which the judgment was reached, and may explore further legal remedies as necessary. This underscores our commitment to upholding justice, fairness, and the professional conduct of our personnel.

We vehemently and unequivocally reject the false narrative that FRSC personnel demanded bribes during their interaction with Mr. Ugochukwu. This is a serious criminal allegation which was not canvassed or substantiated in any court of law.

The Federal Road Safety Corps remains committed to transparency, accountability, and service excellence. No amount of mudslinging or media manipulation will deter us from our statutory responsibilities of ensuring safety on Nigerian roads. We therefore appeal for continued public understanding, support, and protection, so that our officers can serve with the confidence and dedication required to reduce road crashes and save lives.

Apart from the feature of DIY license registration... this App should be expanded to have other emergency features... such as fire disaster, emergency health, road traffic accident, burglary / security alert...

With these additional features.... the upgraded App can work alongside the national emergency hotline... so that Control centres can monitor distress signals from citizens...

Not much is known about the man named Sosthenes in the Bible, except a quick mention in Acts, and possibly a second mention in 1 Corinthians.
Both mentions of Sosthenes involve the Apostle Paul's missionary journeys, whether both passages speak of same person or two different men is unknown

Acts 18:17 KJV
[17] Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things
.

(The Greeks outside the court beat Sosthenes because he was a Jew trying to stir up trouble in their city)

1 Corinthians 1:1 KJV
[1] Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother
,

(Here, Sosthenes is a brother in Christ)

It is certainly a possibility that they are the same man;
If this is the same Sosthenes who opposed Paul in Acts 18, it would be yet more evidence of the transforming power of GOD.
