DELTA CP REASSURES RESIDENTS OF A SECURE ENVIRONMENT AHEAD OF 2023 GENERAL ELECTIONS

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, psc+ has reaffirmed the commitment of his men and officers to the task of creating a secure environment for the successful conduct of free, fair, and credible polls across the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) come February 25th and March 11th 2023.

National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP gathered that the CP made this commitment in a speech delivered at a one-day Workshop organized by the Command for Election Security Monitoring Committee, comprising of political parties representatives, civil society groups, selected media practitioners and the members of the public in Warri, Delta state.

CP Muhammed Ari Ali noted that this year’s election in the State would be a very tough contest considering the interest and calibre of actors involved. He urged Deltans to be rest assured that the Command would not compromise anything for its primary responsibility of ensuring safety of lives and property both during and after the elections. He disclosed that part of the measures he had adopted was the continuous lectures and sensitization of his men and officers to maintain their neutrality status in the ongoing political dispensation, in order to be able to carry out their statutory duties without being bias.

The Delta State Police PRO, DSP Bright Edafe in his press statement e-signed and release to NAOSNP informed that CP Ali appealed to the residents to exercise their civic duties orderly on election days, irrespective of political party’s affiliations and ideologies. He noted that by so doing, they would have made the job of conducting a successful polls easier both for the security agencies and the electoral umpires, adding that the level of success aimed at achieving on election days would be determined on how the electorates conducts themselves.

The CP appealed to Deltans and residents in the State, regardless of political party affiliation, that they should be orderly as the success of this forthcoming election depends on their conduct.

Intercession 2: Father, we decree the destruction of every satanic opposition to the continuous growth of this church, resulting in the multiplication of disciples of Christ in this church – Isa. 8:9-10 [9]Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. Some unidentified hoodlums launched an attack on a innocent Soldier at Oshodi, Lagos State on 7 February 23.

The soldier, in self defence, was said to have stabbed one of the hoodlums who was critically injured and later pronounced dead by a medical facility where he was rushed to after the incident.

According to an eye witness account, she said the soldier was walking in front of them when they attacked him from behind. "I don't know if they wanted to snatch his phone, but he was struggling between them, but later escaped to nearby barracks and the area boys also scattered. It was after they scattered that we saw one of them lying lifeless on the ground, she narrated.

The attacked soldier who also sustained injury is said to be currently undergoing treatment at a military medical facility.

The Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Lt Col Olabisi Ayeni said efforts are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. He also added that troops of 9 Brigade Nigerian Army recently raided Oshodi general area where according to him, over 116 suspected hoodlums were arrested. He said some of the items recovered include, locally made pistol,local charms, Indian hemp and Tramadol amongst others.

"The suspects were arrested on the Railside, Brown Street, Araromi and other parts in Oshodi axis, it was in thesame Oshodi that the soldier was attacked", he added.

The Lagos State Police Command has issued a direct warning to anyone plotting to forment trouble in the state as a result of the scarcity of naira notes to steer clear, or have the full weight of the law descend on them.

The warning is contained in a press statement signed by the Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).

The statement advised all law abiding citizens in the state to go about their lawful endeavors without fear of harassment or intimidation as the Police, with other law enforcement outfits have embarked on confidence building patrols to nip any inanity in the bud.

The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered plans by some groups of persons to take advantage of the new Naira notes scarcity to unleash violence in some parts of the State.

The Command hereby warns these groups to shelve their planned violence or have the full weight of the law to contend with.

Lagos State residents and visitors are enjoined not to panic as the Police, in conjunction with other security agencies, embark on confidence-building patrols across the Lagos metropolis.

In the meantime, all law-abiding Lagosians are encouraged to go about their lawful duties without any fear of harassment or intimidation as the Command has ensured optimal deployment of human and operational resources towards guaranteeing their safety and security.

The Lagos Police Command on Thursday declare wanted one Tajudeen Olanrewaju Bakare for allegedly being in possession of weapons and ammunition.

Police who working on actionable intelligence, carried out a sting operation on the residence of the man in the Surulere area of the state and found in his residence three pump action rifles, one Beretta pistol magazine, one expended 9mm ammunition, and three live cartridges and a picture frame of the suspect.

A video had emerged earlier this week showing a man wielding a pump action rifle and threatening public peace, hence CSP Egbeyemi-led Rapid Response Squad (RRS), was tasked to unmask the man behind it.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by the Lagos Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin explained that “the suspect, Tajudeen Olanrewaju Bakare, narrowly escaped arrest and is hereby declared wanted.”

He further stated that “Any useful information leading to his arrest would be highly appreciated and treated with utmost confidentiality.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has appreciated lagosians for their vigilance and prompt information to security agencies, and warned all trouble makers to steer clear of the state as anyone found wanting would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, has launched the ‘IGP-SmartForce Database Management Centre’ today Wednesday 1st February, 2023, for Personnel Records Digitalization and Biometric Capturing of all officers of the Nigeria Police Force to ensure that all officers have their details captured and stored for record purposes and to ease administrative bottlenecks, create ease in tracking postings/transfers, and issue Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Cards for personnel identification.

The SmartForce with Storage Servers domiciled in the Nigeria Police Force National Command and Control Centre (NPF-C4i) facilities and SmartForce office, Office of the Force Secretary in the Force Headquarters, Abuja, is aimed at integrating the Force into an ICT-Based System to simplify the management of its personnel records, manage the entire workforce of the Nigeria Police Force, uniquely manage/identify each personnel of the Force and is structured with modern technological concepts to monitor the distribution of personnel workforce and access across the country. The system will aid the office of the Force Secretary in planning for the deployment of personnel in the Force, budgetary-related issues, tracing/identification of Police personnel, and retrieval of records as it relates to serving and retired Police personnel.

The IGP has equally flagged off the practical training of Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) and ICT Officers from the 36 State Commands and the FCT at the Force Headquarters on handling and use of the gadgets provided for data capturing of all personnel including a modernized hi-tech biometric machine with unique features like Fingerprint scanner, 2D Scanner, and Smart Facial Recognition application.

While reiterating his vision for a Police driven by the integration of cutting-edge technology, the Inspector-General of Police has ordered a total overhaul of the former system and a swift commencement of the digitalization process across all Commands and Formations of the Force for timeous upgrade and operation of the system.

2023 GENERAL ELECTIONS: POLICE TRAINS 612 OFFICERS TO COMBAT CULTISM,
KIDNAPPING, ELECTORAL VIOLENCE ACROSS SIX GEO-POLITICAL ZONES

• As IGP Charges Trainees to Deploy Expertise, Cascade Knowledge to Others

The Nigeria Police Force has concluded the training of Six Hundred and Twelve officers from across the 6 Geo-Political zones on effective strategies for combatting cultism, kidnapping and electoral violence in the country ahead of the 2023 general elections. The training which held at 6 different venue in each of the 6 geo-political zones was organized by the Nigeria Police Force in collaboration with Wan Diyos Limited, a consulting firm, and had renowned members of the academia as well as a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Hashimu Ibrahim Argungu (Rtd.) as resource persons.

The training workshop which held between Saturday 7th January and Wednesday 18th January, 2023, probed historical antecedents as well as contemporary issues and solutions to the challenges of cultism, kidnapping, and electoral violence. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, emphasized that the training is germane in light of the upcoming general elections to prepare officers to train their men on vibrant tactics to identify and decimate threats to election security management.

The IGP also assured that the training and retraining of police personnel for election security management and professionalism, in all areas of modern policing, will be a continuous project even after the 2023 general elections.

The Inspector-General of Police charged the trainees to deploy the expertise gained from the workshop towards improved management of cultism, kidnapping and election related violence even as he directed them to ensure the knowledge cascades to other officers and men serving in their respective stations/units for a wholistic approach to election security management during the 2023 general elections for free, fair, credible and acceptable elections.
