Politics › Re: Calling For Coup In Nigeria Is An Abuse Of Freedom Of Speech - Reno Omokri by Goke7: 1:01pm On Aug 14, 2023 |
wink2015: Coup is very necessary in West African countries because majority of the civilian politician abuse their offices.
In East Africa for example, their democracy is growing and the politician do their best to satisfy their people.
That is why Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda have enjoyed political stability.
The average Nigerian politician see the masses as conquered people.
But with the soldiers standing by with the intention to stage a coup it makes the politicians to moderate their conduct.
Yes ! Democracy is the best form of government in the world but in Africa it is not working well especially in West Africa where we have countries that were ones former colonies of France, Portugal and Britain.
Nigerian politicians are very corrupt and wicked.
They need a third force to checkmate their greed.
Even if the military are very corrupt it is not as wide spread as that of the politician.
Legislation are made by the Supreme military council or Armed Forces Ruling Council and quickly implemented.
There is nothing like I give you this and I get this from you in return.
That is why most of the 36 states in Nigeria including Abuja were created by the military.
How many states have the civilian created in Nigeria.
AFRICAN POLITICAL INDISCIPLINE NECCESSITATE THE NEED FOR A COUP.
Ordinarily majority of African do not want the soldiers to govern.
But it is the gross indiscipline among the civilian political class that is making the military to step in to salvage the situation. You’re indeed a learner, the same Kenya that has witnessed one of the worst post election violence ever in Africa in recent years. Uganda is still being ruled today by the same man who took over from Idia Amin from the 80s. He kept amending the constitution to perpetuate himself in power, is that your own definition of democracy? even Tanzania had a president who ruled for more than 20 years before getting a new constitution that defined the tenure of their president. Those countries democracies are not advanced than Nigeria in any way. You guys should stop thinking that there are African countries with stronger democracy than Nigeria. It’s never true even South Africa is struggling with their democracy |

Politics › Re: Niger: You’re A Novice In International Diplomacy – Lamido To President Tinubu by Goke7: 7:12am On Aug 14, 2023 |
djseanjohn77: This Lamido is so dumb, he does not have a clue of what he is even referring to. Many northerners including emir has visited, they were not granted audience, ECOWAS is not Tinubu, he is just an entity, as much as he is the chairman, his voice is still just one. These northern interest in this Niger crisis is simply because Niger is 2nd home to many of them, they all have big houses there, and no investigation can ever trace these. They stuck all their stolen money in Niger, and will get protection any day in Niger. If this were to be Liberia, Congo, Gabon, Senegal, they would gladly support.
History
LIBERIA IBB In 1990, West African leaders sent a neutral military force to Liberia to intervene in the civil war between the forces of President Samuel Doe and two rebel factions.
The unprecedented deployment of a regional force, the ECOWAS Monitoring Group (ECOMOG), helped restore some security.
Troop numbers peaked at around 12,000 and the last ones left Liberia in 1999, two years after former rebel leader Charles Taylor was elected president.
SIERRA LEONE Abacha/Abdulsalam In 1998, a Nigerian-led ECOMOG force intervened in Sierra Leone's civil war to drive out a junta and rebel allies from the capital Freetown and reinstate President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, who had been ousted in a coup a year earlier.
GUINEA-BISSAU In 1999, ECOWAS sent around 600 ECOMOG troops to preserve a peace deal in coup-prone Guinea-Bissau. Rebels seized power barely three months later and the force was withdrawn.
Jonathan/Buhari ECOWAS deployed another mission from 2012 to 2020, after another coup, to help deter the military from intervening in politics and to protect political leaders.
Buhari It sent another contingent of 631 personnel in 2022 to help stabilise the country after a failed coup that year.
Obasanjo IVORY COAST A West African force was sent to Ivory Coast in 2003 to help French troops police a shaky peace deal between rebels and loyalists that in effect split the country in two for the next eight years. In 2004, they were integrated into a U.N. peacekeeping force. Jonathan MALI The bloc sent soldiers to Mali in 2013 as part of a mission to drive al Qaeda-linked fighters from the north. As had happened elsewhere, the force later that year handed over to a U.N. peacekeeping mission. Buhari GAMBIA In 2017, ECOWAS sent 7,000 troops to Gambia from neighbouring Senegal to compel President Yahya Jammeh to go into exile and cede the presidency to Adama Barrow, who had defeated him in an election.
Jammeh's security forces offered no resistance to the mission, which was dubbed Operation Restore Democracy.
You would wonder, if the past president did this and there were no noise over it in the news, why now. This issue is simply politicised by the Obi supporters who have suddenly woken up to national interest, and they feed on every news emanating from the presidential villa, they pick interest in what the president eats, how he sleeps, how he walks etc. Otherwise, in the past, nobody dablle into these kind of things, it is not even brought to the fore for debate. And yes, Nigeria has had successes in restoring these countries more than US has ever done. Don’t mind them, they just want Tinubu to do nothing so if the situation in Niger worsens they can conclude he’s not better than past Nigerian presidents who intervened in similar situations The bottom line is that they want the current president to fail by doing nothing. It’s all politics and backlash from electoral loss |

ericadianas: Hello Everyone,
Thank you so much for the support here.
I am coming in as a Dependent next month and I just need a little clarity so I can properly prepare.
I have 2 years of product management experience in Nigeria and also another 2 years of technical recruitment, however, but I am very open to other types of jobs to start with. For example, health care assistant, customer service, retail sales, tutoring, etc till I can get a proper tech job.
I have been researching and seeing people talk about getting a Police Clearance Certificate, PCC, in Nigeria and also a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in the UK. I want to stay prepared for anything.
So my questions are:
1. Do I really need to do a PCC in Nigeria? like what relevance does a PCC have? 2. What's the exact difference between PCC and DBS? Like when is each one applicable?
Thanks a lot for your responses. It’s better to get your PCC handy before you leave Nigeria. Any job that requires you dealing with humans directly will require it. DBS is when you’re in the uk already Both DBS and PCC (if dealing with humans directly) are needed as part of your onboarding process and pre employment background checks for any job in the UK. |

dentalux: Good evening @justwise, @mex551, lexusgs430 and other elders, a flatmate of mine recently got a provisional offer with the civil service that requires security clearance. However in the job advert it was stated that
"For meaningful checks to be carried out, individuals need to have lived in the UK for a sufficient period of time to enable appropriate checks to be carried out and produce a result which provides the required level of assurance. You should normally have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last 3 years if the role requires CTC clearance, 5 years for SC clearance and 10 years for DV. A lack of UK residency in itself is not necessarily a bar to a security clearance and applicants should contact the Vacancy Holder/Recruiting Manager listed in the advert for further advice."
My flatmate was happy about the provisional offer at first but got later got sad as he is unsure of passing the security clearance. Please who else has gone through this type of situation and passed it? He can be granted a residency waiver, they will just ask for some additional information and documents like police character certificate from his country of origin and character reference |

kwakudtraveller: I get one question o. I’m on the lookout for an outside IR35 role and I have noticed that a lot of the roles dey ask for DV clearance. Is it necessary for me to have lived here for 5 years to qualify, or is there a way around it? I no come understand. Yes unless a previous employer has done it for you before by getting a waiver even if you have been here less than five years so your new employer will just apply to transfer the clearance For DV clearance however only citizens can qualify unlike SC where non citizens can qualify. If you are not a citizen just forget about roles asking for DV clearance |

The bolded is often harsh reality, especially if the role came via a recruiter cos some of them can lie make all sorts of promises to sell the role.
Such promises should ideally be written into the contract or offer letter to make it legally binding. the recruiters just wants to make their cut and move on immediately, no time |
Politics › Re: I Was Not Detained At Heathrow Airport Nor Mentioned In Pandora Papers - Omokri by Goke7: 1:04pm On Aug 10, 2023 |
franchasofficia: Obi did not lose the election.
Buhari's hatred for Igbos made him to ensure Peter Obi wasn't declared at all cost, he didn't mind Tinubu another person he doesn't like much to have it.
Peter Obi won the election, and that is why APC and all Tinubu close allies dislike Obi and Obidients and focused all their attacks and criticisms on Obi/Obidients they claimed came 3rd without even remembering Atiku that they said came 2nd and also challenging Tinubu in court.
They intentionally moved Obi to 3rd position to discourage Obi and Obidient movement from challenging the election result. It was a strategic execution.
Obi won Lagos with a very wide margin, but they tried to reduce Lagos winning margin and allowed Obi to win Lagos with a small margin to also make Obi and Obidients believe the election was free and fair. We the insiders know all these tricks.
You ought to know this dark truth.
Obi won, the political cabals in Nigeria know and they hated Obi for that because he didn't follow their usual corrupt process of aligning with corrupt political elites to get elected which would make him indebted to them throughout his tenure, for this, they hate him and don't ever want him close to Aso Rock.
Obi was robbed off his mandate simply because he is Igbo and didn't follow normal Nigerian political process of aligning with Nigeria's known political criminal elites from all regions. Obi aligned with the youths and this is what Nigerian criminal elites hate so much. This is not news nah, the same thing Trump said about the last US elections, in fact, Trump said he won by a lot too |

Knowlegeseeking: My people,
Thank you for helping me stay on track with my ACCA and audit career.
Please come out and help me with taking this decision.
I have 2 jobs offers. One with the audit firm (company A) i currently work with on a part time basis (unto 20hrs limit) which is offering me 5 years sponsorship and another audit firm (company B) offering me 2 years fixed contract based on me going on a PSW visa route first, and subsequent sponsorship when i get chartered.
The second company is a top 15 audit firm here with very good pay and benefits. The one i currently work with is on the lower cadre of audit firms and the pay and benefit is not as good as the former.
For company A (sponsorship), i will bear the cost of Visa and IHS for the 5 years (9,086 with the going rate or 13,624 if the new rate is applicable by October). This calculation includes my spouse and I. There is the option of paying this cost overtime by direct deduction from my salary.
But if i go with going on the PSW first and finishing my exams, I only bear PSW costs (3,926 pounds with the current rate or 5,785 if the new rate is applicable by October). company B assures bearing all costs of sponsorship when we get to that bridge.
I have considered career trajectory, interests, work-life balance, proximity, etc, and the company B tick more boxes.
In your honest opinion, please tell me what the best choice will be.
Thank you. with the way UK is unstable with immigration policies, my suggestion is to go with company A which is willing to give you COS immediately. Sometimes we make decisions not based on immediate cost but on the long term. No matter the ranking for company A you are already in the UK with the requisite professional experience to move later to a dream company of your choice any day. My issue with company B is that tomorrow they can say there is a change in company policy and may not be willing to sponsor again. Don't be carried away by some companies' promises, most times they just want to fill the vacancy urgently and do not give a damn even a year later. Unless you can get written evidence ( solid one) where they categorically state and confirm they are going to sponsor. This was an issue with a friend of mine, she started with this organisation that promise to sponsor later, then after her probation ended and she reminded them, she was asked to produce the email correspondence where it was stated. That was her saving grace. But then what if UK changes policies again that creates more barriers for companies? You need to think through all this. |

yinkkus: You have once again re-established your erroneous interpretation of issues or is it that your deductive power is low?
Where did I mention burning of country down?
Go back to the genesis of these conversations, if it's out of your memory; it's just a simple comment of if things were done simply and transparently, then there won't be needless and avoidable argument of I scored 50% and they gave me 40% okay?
You dragged me to court and now telling me about burning down the country, did I present both cases before you?
If you know the meaning of partisanship, then you won't be talking anyhow, partisanship is the problem of a lot of you.
I am not partizan ! let me re - echo it into your ears, that I don't tilt towards any party, so you don't see my comments as partizan , because a lot of you make senseless comments to defend your party, even though the argument is not that you cannot belong to any party but you all make ridiculous comments to defend your point that's the issue.
"You are against the system" who told you? So if something is wrong in a system you shouldn't talk about it, that's hatred? , infact only insane person will celebrate backwardness.
Always focus on a specific issue under discussion and shun negative insinuations, that's the source of your confusion, ok? Unfortunately, you are not the one to determine if things were done transparently cos you may even be wrong in your own insinuations and assumptions. I insist that you folks are just emotional and your feelings may not be based on principle. You alone cannot be right. One common trait with you folks is the way you can’t argue without using abusive words which shows how emotional indeed you are |

I said there wouldn't have been issues of I scored 50% or 60% , if everything was transparent and that was the reason for the signing of new electoral act in the first place, and you are here diverting me to the court, who gives a fvck about the decision of the court, if things are so transparent, do you need court, is court a must in our election, is it how it is everywhere, what we have made a culture?
Do you think truth always wins in court, court is about facts and that is it, what IAM concerned about is better and transparent process in our election and not Court and there is no partisanship.
Stupid question, how can you know the true winner without transparency, when case gets to court is all about facts and proof and that's for a good Court, so court is different from transparent process, get that! so what are you even saying here so if there is no transparency according to you so what should we do? burn down the country since the court cannot satisfy us abi and talking about partisanship, you're just contradicting yourself, so far you have grievances against the system you are partisan so stop forming being an angel and accusing others of being partisan.
