PointB: So why is INEC not conducting Governorship Election for the FCT, if it's a state? It’s administered by a president through a minister like a state and they have a senator too |

Politics › Re: Don't Be Biased!!! Can I Become President Without 25% In FCT? by Goke7: 12:00am On Mar 01, 2023 |
The reason FCT was specifically mentioned is to cure a situation where somebody will have 25% in 23 states and in Abuja. Abuja is technically not a state because it does not function exactly as a state does but has however be confirmed with the status of a state by the constitution. If Abuja was not mentioned, people would have argued that 25% in Abuja does not count as part of the 24 states. So, to cure this, the constitution had to specifically mention Abuja to let us know that Abuja can be counted as part of the 24 states for the 25% requirement. What it then means is that if a candidate got 25% in 23 states as well as in Abuja, that candidate is assumed to have gotten 25% in 24 states and as such, met the 25% requirement. |
Politics › Re: Don't Be Biased!!! Can I Become President Without 25% In FCT? by Goke7: 11:59pm On Feb 28, 2023 |
Section 299 of the constitution says that for the purpose of interpretation of the Constitution, the FCT is regarded as a State.
The implication is that:
The FCT is a State but given a name.
Since the FCT is given a name by the drafts men, it won't be right to say 37 states.
However, the name is 36 States and the FCT. It simply means 37 states.
Tinubu has met the requirements.
The court has affirmed that position and the constitution is clear.

JohnBullMySon: Yes. BVAS only stops overvoting and underage voting.
To rig, you just need to delay uploading of the result and adjust the numbers. Basically what has occurred in this elections. There's no revolution here. We just won't see crazy numbers from the north anymore . Corruption continues. that itself is a revolution bro |

Parachoko: just imagine the amount of votes political parties would have been churning out from their strongholds without BVAS
The total votes in this election would have been more than 50 miliion.
Tinubu, Atiku and Obi will have at least 10 million votes each. It's obvious why the APC itself was against bvas initially but it's the same bvas they used against the pdp in the osun tribunal court. That Osun matter scared everybody. There's still rigging though but you can't rig above the number bvas has recorded. And I like how they state the bvas accredited number at the collation centres before the announcement of results from each state or LG. That's a masterstroke Bvas is a revolution, Obi owes Buhari a thank you visit, Bvas made him a phenomenon |

JohnBullMySon: Igbos have never voted for an Igbo president before this election but you keep on saying they are tribal. APGA has been having presidential candidates but no one votes them. Obi was voted because the Igbos believed he had a chance not necessarily due to tribe. Obi was an Igbo project packaged by endsars. The endsars was what made Obi chances brighter as endars cut across tribal lines. Nothing else would have powered Obi campaign. Another thing that also powered Obi hopes was Tinubu as APC candidate, the enemies of Tinubu from also rock to within the APC itself was another driver |

Buckeyemedia1: Cc Goke7, 100% True, Labor Party, ext of Pdp, ie Peter Obi, Ahmed Datti, Doyin Okupe Just to mention a few, way too numerous pdp runaways waste my time on. that's why they can easily have a joint press conference, if either of them had won, both parties would have been very happy, in fact all the elected representatives of LP would have crossed over to pdp to suppress APC off as an opposition. LP was an optional attempt by pdp to dislodge APC. If you know you know |

reddingtonblack: Abuja is not a state becos it is the only territory in Nigeria presided by a MINISTER.
Abuja is not a state that is why behind FC, you have "T" that stands for territory (FCT) while others bear "states" A state is a sovereign territory with an elected leader by the residence of that territory.
Was the FCT minister appointed or Elected ?? the answer settles it. FreedomfromtheT: I don't know how true your claims are. The uploading should have been done immediately after the voting and counting. The delay gives room for suspicion that something is fishy. However, it is never late to do the right thing. The intimidation of voters who do not intend voting for a particular party which is viral and the seeming silence from the security agencies is another thing Let those that win win clearly and magnanimously and let those that lose lose clearly and gallantly. Delay can never be an excuse to truncate the process, people should cross check the results uploaded with the signed copy with the agents |

yusfatedeeprof: Stop being ignorant. The law is clear as daylight.
The law says that the states you can get your 25% from is inclusive of Abuja not that you have to get 25% from Abuja, lol.
For example you were only able to meet 25% in 24 states out of 36 states, if you get 25% in Abuja you are clear.
But if you already have your 25% in 25 states of the federation Abuja is as good as useless. The law is clear and devoid of ambiguity, no dey confuse yourself They are looking for a new reason to cancel elections no mind them |
