Buckubuck: I agree with you. I don't like the president. He does not come across as having the capacity to lead Nigeria to the dreams and aspirations of 21st century citizens. You're also correct. State police was mentioned part of the recommendations. But you will also agree that a recommendation by a panel does not constitute an approval, moreso, that headline is misleading. That panel was constituted to review human rights abuses by the police. The main thrust their work is not state police creation. As lexy2004 mentioned, state police can't be created by executive fiat. You should not be too blind to see that the Nation is trying to put words the president's mouth. That the aide posted it does not make it correct. We've seen it happen multiple times were aides post blatant lies. You keep referring to the Nation, are they the only ones who publish it? Did you check out other media outlets and who said state police will be created by executive fiat. Some of you guys are the ones causing confusion allowing the mischief makers to misinform others. The news was very clear from the onset that the cjn was charged with coming out with plans of implementation within 3 months. This is what came out as news which was a press release and was posted by the Presidential spokesman. That the President gave the order was what folks was commending him for especially with his perceived stand against the idea of state police before now. Truth is something is in the offing especially with the new NFIU guidelines as regards local government funds which already the Governors are kicking against which is obvious. You can have your opinions but the reactions today has shown me that the proponents of restructuring don't really want it. Simple |

Buckubuck: Most of them are zombie esp the guy. They are ready to latch unto anything to prove their master is working. Even in the recommendation, there's no mention of state police. The Nation is a propaganda newspaper who thrive in deception. The recommendations have to do with police brutality and national human rights but zombies took the headlines and started polluting the thread with zombiism hold it, have you check other media outlets to confirm the story? even the presidential spokesman has it on his social media accounts. That you dislike the President does not mean you should post out of reason. In summary, you are lying. State Police was mentioned. I know you are pained! |

lexy2014: Am not aware of a time when charlatans ran d NASS. If ever they did, I don't no what has changed cos d culture in NASS hasn't changed since 1999.
There was a bill on d floor of d senate and d house of rep 4 state and community police in 2018/2019. D bill wasn't sponsored by d executive. It was sponsored by d legislators. So ur claim of "being a stumbling block to policies be elected for them to score cheap political points", doesn't arise Right, so let's see how the next legislature will continue from there especially the returnees. |

Politics › Re: Buhari Approves State, LG Police by Goke7: 7:23pm On Jun 03, 2019 |
specter: You have sense. PMB can't wake up on morning and ulter Constitutional provisions with a fiat. We are no longer in a Military regime. Hence, the phrase approval. Will connotes he has approved the recommendation for State/LG police which has become a dire need because of the current security situation in the country.
This will now proceed to the next stage which entails a bill been sent to the NA assembly and same will be passed by 2/3 of the 36 states.
The issue is will the state houses approve LG autonomous policing?
That is what we should be discussing as proactive youths of our great country.
It's still a long walk to freedom, but it's my believe we will get there.
An act will need to spell out their respective criminal jurisdiction and powers. and this is also when we will know whether those clamouring for restructuring are truly serious or not. Some months back many house of rep members mainly from pdp came out to the public to declare that they are ready to pass any bill for restructuring Now we will see whether they were joking or not. It will also be nice to hear from atiku and his gang using restructuring as campaign tools |
Politics › Re: Buhari Approves State, LG Police by Goke7: 7:18pm On Jun 03, 2019 |
lexy2014: He is right. There is a police act which recognises d police as federal. 4u to have state police, d president just can't unilaterally "approve" state police. It has 2go thru d national assembly so that there will b laws 2 that effect. Right now d constitution doesn't recognise state police& d president isn't above d constitution 2 change a section of d constitution by "approval". that is why the election of principal officers for the national assembly must not be scuttled this time around. The opposition won't mind that those who will be a stumbling block to policies be elected for them to score cheap political points. it's left to Nigerians whether to allow or not charlatans to run the legislature |

9jaRealist: The BRT is still being financed by Skye Bank... And in fact, Primero recently issued new corporate bonds through Skye to purchase new buses.
Nevertheless, there is no major city in the world without some form of subsidized public mass transportation (including bus) system. The primary aim of the Bus Reform Initiative is to upgrade bus transportation in Lagos metropolis by gradually replacing the Danfo buses (and/or ultimately relegating them only to unserved minor routes outside of the main traffic corridors), and hopefully get more middle-class Lagosians to use buses more frequently and cars less frequently. These buses will also run on CNG and thus will be more environmentally-friendly. > does skye bank still exist? |

My opinion. are you aware that if any state generates more than 5 mega watts, they must upload it directly to the national grid? Where is this done in any federating country in the world. The Power issue is far from being solved dear, It's just a matter of time, PMB go reach there very soon. |

tactius: Don't like state police for 2 reasons
1.Funding...who is going to fund the state police?? (Don't tell me it is the Federal Government).
At the end of the day, TAXES are going to go up to fund the state police.
2 Tribalism. Especially in states with multiple tribes, and states that have settlers from outiside (And don't tell me it won't happen). Are states govt not funding the police already in their respective states? And as for tribalism, that will be the problem of the states and not a national problem. Truth be told, boko haram in the north east and banditry in the north west are local problems and not national problems so let the states deal with it. Reason folks must elect brainy guys as governors and not dumb skulls |

PMB seems to be looking into the constitutional conference report done by the GEJ regime. This is the restructuring the ohanezes, afenifere have been shouting for, I hope they can swallow their pride and begin to commend PMB.
I knew PMB was up to something when NFIU brought out guidelines on LG allocation funds going directly to the local governments and I suspected that he was beginning to consider the confab report done before his first tenure.
It's left to all Nigerians to support this move if they truly love this country. |

Benue, Adamawa, Bauchi, Imo, Oyo and Zamfara all gone with Oshiomole at the helm. No, that's unacceptable. If he was my staff, I'll sack him. it would have been worse if oyegun was chairman. Oshiomole's sin is his insistence that the party's rules be followed to the letter enforcing party's supremacy. The Governors want to dictate and set their own rules against that of the party.
