kcnwaigbo: Sw votes alone will not make osibanjo president. The question is will the north vote for him against one of their own? the north has voted against their own before so they can do it again. The way you guys are so fixated about the north makes me wonder, what makes you think they will never vote for a southerner again when they have have done so before. If the north feels safe and secure with an osinbajo, they will vote massively for him irrespective of what any of you think. Politics is all about interests, There will also be massive voters turn out in the sw in 2023 when a Yoruba man is on the ballot as President, forget what is happening now, that is sw politics for you. Reason you guys feel they are betrayals, they can line up behind you today and go against you tomorrow |

IloveToMess: Let me make it clear to you, Nigeria don't even need Chinese, Lebanese and Indian industrialists when they have Igbo's, just a little capital and an Igbo man will produce what Nigeria can use and export to all those countries with equal level of quality or more. What you don't know is that Ojukwu's father was the richest man in Africa during his time, it was his RollsRoyce that Nigeria borrowed to carry the Queen of England about when she visited Nigeria in those days. If an Igbo man had enjoyed presidency like Hausa's and to a large extent Yorubas, by now more than 3000 multi national manufacturing companies would have sprang up from Nigeria to compete favorably with the Chinese and Indians in several African countries today. chai, una get mouth sha, but you see the average Nigerian is industrious if given the right atmosphere just like any igbo man, the problem with you guys is that you make so much noise, when you count big industrialists in this country, the northerners we all abuse are still leading but they don't make noise or interfere in other people's local politics. You guys need to chill or continue to get your hands burnt in Nigeria's politics |

kponkedenge: I don't know where you're getting the notion that another tribe wants to take over Lagos from the Yourbas. Your leaders are just using the ethnic card on you guys so you keep voting them. Don't forget Jimi is also a Yoruba and even a Lagosian. When people live in a particular place and have lot of investment, they should also have the right as citizens to vote for who they feel is the best for them. This break down of relationship started during Fashola's second term when he started deporting a certain tribe. If you can remember vividly, there wasn't so much tension about Igbo and Yoruba during Tinubu's tenure until Fashola's second term, and since then, the relationship has further gone South. is not the same ethnic card the igbos have been using to vote pdp since 1999? now we are using the same card and you guys are complaining. We don wise up now o, the Nationalistic card that we have been using which you guys have used to insult us have now been torn into pieces. Jman06: True!
Let my Igbo brothers stop that attitude of calling Lagos a no man's land! Lagos is a Yoruba land!
I also want to use this medium to advise my Igbo brothers to learn to reciprocate the goodwill they enjoy in Yorubaland.
Until that time when civilization has completely eroded indigeneship from all nooks and crannies of Nigeria, we should stop telling people that their lands are no man's lands. Why do you tell that to Yoruba people when you dare not say same to an Hausa man in Kano or even gbagi people in Abuja. That nonsense needs to stop! reciprocate? that is never in their dictionary. it's all about grabbing all that is not theirs |

The thing that baffles me is their obsession with this Lagos They are like trailers without brakes, once they are on motion they will never have any cause for restraint until they destroy themselves and start crying foul later. But I think it's not entirely their fault, I blame it on the yorubas in our midst trying to sell us out to them but they won't succeed like they also failed on the Atiku project |
Politics › Re: All The Political Gladiators In Lagos Closing Ranks In Bourdillon (Pics) by Goke7: 8:58am On Mar 03, 2019 |
Kennydoc: I agree with you that we are not yet ready for that level of civilization. But the issue is this, Yorubas don't have a sizeable population in any part of any state that can swing votes to their side in that location (not to talk of the whole state) in any election. On the contrary, Igbos have a large population in some constituencies in Lagos that with their population alone, they can win any free and fair election in those constituencies. They also have a large population in the whole of Lagos state that can swing votes to any direction if elections are free and fair, and they all vote for one candidate. That is the annoyance of Yorubas. Kano is nothing near Lagos in terms of being cosmopolitan. Kano is to the North what Lagos is to Nigeria.
My point is, let people be allowed to vote their choice. At least I know for now, Igbos cannot contest and win Lagos guber elections. They don't have that much population to dream of ruling Lagos, but they shouldn't be intimidated during elections. They have the right to vote any candidate of their choice.
My initial post was directed at the person saying that Lagos is doing Igbos a favour by allowing them to work in government offices. I replied to tell him that so far those Igbos live in Lagos and are paying their taxes, it's their right to work in such establishments. If in developed countries, people from other nationalities can take some exalted offices in the countries of their residence, it shouldn't be a big deal if Igbos who are Nigerians by right, live and work in Lagos. It shouldn't also be a big deal if they get to participate fully in Lagos politics. We have no problem with igbos working and living in Lagos but they should stay within their boundaries and stop meddling in our politics. That's our humble request |
Politics › Re: All The Political Gladiators In Lagos Closing Ranks In Bourdillon (Pics) by Goke7: 8:54am On Mar 03, 2019 |
Kennydoc: This is where you get it wrong. Lagosians are not only Yorubas but all those who live and work in Lagos. Anybody with a voters card in Lagos and registered in Lagos has a right to determine who rules Lagos. If you want Igbos not to have any right to vote in Lagos, then perhaps your legislators should move a motion in the National Assembly that people should only register with INEC in their states of origin. With that, I can assure you that Lagos will have one of the least number of registered voters. As long as Nigeria still operates the way it is, Igbos have a right to vote for PDP in Lagos, and you can't do anything about it. Before you start foaming in the mouth, take note that PDP won in last Saturday's election in Ondo and Oyo states. I guess it's Igbos that also made that happen. Did pdp win in Lagos too in the Presidential elections? Stop giving yourself false hopes like you guys gave atiku PDP will not win in Lagos, get that into your skull, since PDP has made the election a tribal issue, the yorubas will defend their heritage and there is nothing you guys can do about it. Going forward, the Lagos house of assembly will start passing laws to check you guys since una no dey hear word |

Kennydoc: Judging Igbos by Nairaland comments shows inexperience. I have Yoruba friends and we've never had any ethnic-coloured misunderstanding. If you had real life Igbo friends, you would have known that what you see on Nairaland is far from reality. If Igbos are really as difficult as some of you assume, how come there are Igbos scattered in all the nooks and crannies of the world, and we don't often hear of real life confrontations between Igbos and other tribes? Do you think it's only in Lagos that Igbos live? Even in the most remote parts of the different states in Nigeria, there are always Igbo men. Go into the real world, relate with Igbo men and see your perspective change.
What you call anti-southwest agenda is mainly due to differing political leanings. Igbos are pro-PDP and Yorubas are pro-APC, and just as APC and PDP never agree, that's why it seems like Igbos and Yorubas never agree. It not that Igbos hate Yorubas as a tribe. It's just the resentment for APC that manifests. so let everyone bear their papa name, we don't want igbos meddling in our politics in the sw as we do not meddle in theirs in the east, is that too much to ask for? igbos have been voting for pdp till date and they don't feel they are in any danger or bondage, Lagosians have been voting for a particular party since 1999 and we are ok with it, so who have we offended? |
Politics › Re: All The Political Gladiators In Lagos Closing Ranks In Bourdillon (Pics) by Goke7: 9:55pm On Mar 02, 2019 |
Kennydoc: The greatest cities in the world usually have a heterogenous population of people. Yorubas alone couldn't have made Lagos what it is today. Even the massive population of Lagos which gives it one of its bragging rights is contributed to a large extent by Igbos and all other Nigerians. Much of the amenities Lagos enjoys were built to service all Nigerians. Stop thinking like a 17th Century African. Think like a 21st Century human living in a modern world. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan is Pakistani - British man. Obama is a Kenyan American. These are the realities of the modern world. Igbos shouldn't only be good for paying taxes in Lagos. They should be able to live and work comfortably in any sector in Lagos too. Some of them were born and raised there while some of you that make noise on social media have never lived in Lagos for even a month. You're not more Lagos than they are. Nigeria is not yet ready for this kind of development, ok? can a yoruba man be governor in Kano, another cosmopolitan city like Lagos? can anyone aside an igbo man be governor in big states or cities like Enugu? We are not yet ripe and mature for what you are talking about yet just like State Police which is great but the kind of politics we play currently cannot accommodate such developments for now so let's be real. Yorubas are no fools and will not be used for a trial and error experiment. |

As long as Eleko remains a Yoruba monarch. Culture is the determinant.
Now, this doesn't stop any citizen of Nigeria from living there, because the constitution had empowered them as citizens.
But you cannot call the place a no man's land. Haba. no stress yourself, it will never happen. Yoruba man will have to be Governor of Anambra first before that will happen |
