Politics is a game of numbers and building of bridges to pursue common interests but how do you hope to gather the numbers when all you do is to malign and throw all manner of insults at people you should be building bridges with. How do you win elections like this. omo na wa o! |
Christianity Etc › Re: "Nigeria Will Be Among The World Powers By the Year 2020" - Bishop David Oyedepo by Goke7: 8:27pm On Dec 05, 2018 |
Sorry I have to say this, Bishop Oyedepo is very good at reverse psycology, after the visit to the Atiku/obj reconciliation meeting, he declared 7 days of prayer and fasting for Nigeria immediately, now He is prophesying that Nigeria will be great among the Nations of the world. It's high time we begin to see our Pastors true love for Nigeria in the way and manner they conduct themselves especially to people who do not share the same beliefs with them. It should be in deeds and not in words cos talk is cheap. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Oyedepo, The Media And The Power Of Irresponsible Journalism by Goke7: 8:11pm On Dec 04, 2018 |
HigherEd: I agree the church should be regulated directly on matters relating to finances and sort. But a govt cannot stop a 'pastor' from feeding his members grass. A govt cannot sanction a 'pastor' who sleeps with members. A govt can't question or determine the legitimacy of a pastor who divorces his wife but remains a pastor. A govt can't determine the acceptable way of preaching tithing. This is why self regulation is important in line with agreed constitution.
Of course PFN and CAN must be overhauled completely to be more effective and less political. Self regulation cannot work as he or she who have no sin must be the first to cast a stone. Let the Govt do the one it can do and let God be the judge of the other issues. All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. The Pastors know themselves and everyone knows what's up so who will regulate who! |
Christianity Etc › Re: Oyedepo, The Media And The Power Of Irresponsible Journalism by Goke7: 7:39pm On Dec 04, 2018 |
HigherEd: Valid point. They should all stay away from politics. Whether credible news or not i think he should just do like Oyakhilomhe, Olukoya and avoid Nigerian politics completely.
I think it is time the Pentecostal movement gets a structure. The govt should give PFN or CAN the powers for self regulation in line with whatever Christianity means to all of us and document it as a constitution. Watching a mentally disturbed 'pastor' slam members in church is very heart breaking and a mockery to this religion. Such kind of church ought to be closed immediately and members dispersed but CAN or PFN has no such powers.
There is chaos in the church formation and it keeps me awake at night - everyone does as they please and make a mockery of the system. There is no accountability on church income, by now a reformed PFN or CAN should have forced her members to make annual disclosures on church income and expenditure.
There ought to be regulations from CAN forcing bakare, osinbanjo and okotie and the likes to temporarily step aside before vying for office.
What about regulations banning politicians from contributing to church projects
Churches should also start having accountable leadership. I expect winners supreme council would ban further political commentaries by any of its leaders but i know that wouldn't happen as our pastors are too powerful than the structures meant to hold them accountable. CAN and PFN has been compromised, they will always go for the highest bidder. Secondly the body of Christ is too divided for any self regulation as a lot of Christians and Church leaders are too neck dipped in corruption. The Church In Nigeria needs serious cleansing and I will seriously support any Govt in future that will turn its searchlight on church organizations in the fight against corruption, after all churches are suppose to exist with the highest form of integrity as exemplified by Christ. A lot of folks forget that as soon as a Church is registered by the CAC, by law it ceases to be the property of any individual or group of persons, it becomes a civil organization that is subject to the laws of the land and can sue and can be sued. Lots of folks are unaware that any member of the board of trustees of a church cannot earn salary or any allowance from the church unless he or she is not a trustee. Churches are also suppose to pay annual returns to CAC and declare their annual income and expenditure according to the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and also hold Annual General Meetings to declare their finances to their registered members. It's high time our churches are run according to the dictates of the law except they are not registered with CAC. It is when these Churches are properly regulated by our laws that true accountability can return to our churches and the leaders can be held accountable but for now anything goes. |

The damage had already been done. If any pastor wants to comment on any political issue, let him do it from his bedroom or his personal office using facebook live. Using the altar of God to perpetuate political lies is a disgrace and I hope the bishop has learnt his lessons.
Let Winners Church also get a political adviser for their bishop that will help him do proper analysis before he goes again to the pulpit to mis yan again.
As a Believer am getting ashamed of our pastors, dem dey fall our hand too much these days. |

ihatesycophant: I'm a member of his church but Bishop he's taken the case of Buhari too personal. If we have to go by his assertion there are so many things that have been written about him in print. In one of his interviews he did said, he has read so many negative things about himself and the ministry but he has no time to be replying them and he buttressed it by saying "a person people are looking at, doesn't look". That he doesn't have time to be replying unfounded rumours. Now, should we by his logic believed all negative things said about him in the past in the newspapers and the one said by one Erelu Circulated on tape and video that she was the one that helped him to get power. I think Bishop need to soft pedal and continue to pray for the prosperity, security and unity of the nation. Bishop is getting too emotional about PMB. He should rather focus on the future of his ministry as no ministry is too big to fail. Till PMB emerged as president, oyedepo has always kept mum on the political climate of nigeria. I wonder what changed as its not as if we have been having godly presidents in aso rock before pmb |

realpoacher: Oga you are defending the indefensible
When you are under pressure, I mean, when you are under constant barrage of attacks, sooner than later you are going to cave in.
A more tactical coach immediately counter it by making quality subs, in fact any kind of sub would do at that point.
When under constant pressure within the 60-85 minutes of the game.. Bringing in a sub or two will do one of the following
1. Calm down the tempo of the game... Actually, the calming down changes the direction of the game altogether
2. It gives your players a breather, ... It gives them time to reorganize themselves to become more sturdy
But Rohr couldn't see that, he stood by the sidelines allthrough and didn't know that he should had made the change by the 70th minute on the dot
He took too late to do the sub
The same thing he did against Argentina at the world cup. He stood by the touch line until the Argentines scored in the 87th minute
87 fucking minute for Christ sake, while Argentina were making changes all along...
Its obvious Rohr hasn't learnt anything from the world cup hence his stupidity last night... If Libya was a top team, after their equalizer, we would have been buried! Thank you Sir o, don't mind them. Let them keep indulging rohr like they were indulging Victor Moses until the guy himself tire. Rohr Sef go tire, find im levels one day |

wayodude: Can we afford the non 'legbere' foreign coaches you crave? are those non 'legbere' coaches willing to manage a team at Nigerias level ?
What did Sven achieve with ivory coast? What did Bob Bradley achieve with Egypt? What did Avram Grant achieve with Ghana? What has Seedorf done since he took over Cameroon?
The coaches above the level I have mentioned above are the true A-listers (Pep, Klopp, Emery etc) who we simply cannot entice to come and be following us to play games in Mogadishu lol
Rohr can do better but for me he is doing okay.
By the way, what does legbere mean? asking for a friend. I don laugh so tey I don forget your question anyway a legbere coach is the opposite of a non legbere coach |

Icon4s: Ok, let me chip in here.
When you make substitutions it can either make or mar you.
When you are leading in a game it is usually safer to maintain the shape that got you that lead.
A team that is chasing a game has nothing to lose if the substitution turns out to make things worse. Cos a lose is a lose. But making that substitution gives them a chance or probability of introducing a player or formation that can change things.
Rohr maintained the shape of that team because he knew they were capable of getting more goals if the need arises.
Onyekuru came in for a sapped out Kalu. Ogu also came in for Sapped out Etebo. Even with these substitutions he still maintained the shape of the team. The only major tactical switch was the introduction of Ajayi for Iwobi. You may say this last substitution came late but Rohr had his reasons for keeping it that late, of which I think it may be related to Uzoho being on a yellow card. What if he gets a second yellow and we had exhausted all our substitutions already?
The minimum we needed from this tie was 4pts. Even at 2-2, we were still meeting the minimum result required for the tie so no need to twist things so dramatically as if u are chasing a game. This is called tie management.
When ur opponent changes a player and the Newly introduced player seems to be causing troubles u may not necessarily need to react by only making ur own substitution. U may just instruct certain players to keep an eye on the new player or instruct one or two players to provide support when the new danger man goes on the offensive. Rohr cannot continue like this, we can all make excuses for him now because he won. In the real afcon tournament, trust me he won't get away with this just like it happened in Russia and all of us making excuses for him tonight will call for his head then. The signs are too glaring. He can't go far with his team if he doesn't add flexibility to his game. It took mourinho to shout when he saw the game against Croatia for rohr to be a bit flexible against Iceland which we won convincingly. Haba na only rohr waka come |

Odunayaw: Libya equalized & could have won because our players were snoozing!
WTF does it have to do with Rohr? You want reactionary substitutions in 1st half? You think this is Pes we are talking of? Stop being sentimental, tactical substitutions are made to counter the opposition threat which was what the Libyan coach did and what did your coach do? If he can't react in the first half OK but what about the second half when libya made another change, some players were getting tired so is it a sin to bring in fresh players? |

Tonite's match clearly showed why we performed badly in Russia. Libya made a change in the first half, they scored immediately. In the second half, libya made another change, I told my wife that our coach is not reacting o and before you know it, Libya equalised, if the Libyan team was more experienced, they won't have lost this match and their coach despite just being appointed was more tactical than rohr.
If NFF like, let them stick with rohr until he disgraces this promising and energetic eagles, then their eye will clear. Foreign coaches will never be the solution to our national team. Rohr deserve not to be with this team any longer |

ChrisKels: Cool this be another Rohr Effect?
The entire defence of the SE have moved to better clubs/leagues. Ebuehi - Ado Den Haag to Benfica Idowu - Amker Perm to Lokomotiv Moscow Echiejile - Cercle Brugge to Monaco Balogun - Mainz to Brighton Ekong - Bursaspor to Udinese Omeruo - Kasimpasa to Leganes Aina - Hull to Torino Awaziem - Porto or on his way back to Nantes for another loan. We have never in the history of the SE have so many defenders playing at the top level like the current squad. Could Gernot Rohr have anything to do with it?
Special mention to Uduokhai of Wolfsburg and Akpoguma of Hoffeinhem who are still possibilities now that they have been totally over-looked by Germany.
Cc Dammy Happy for the boys, just shows that perhaps with a better performance in Russia, they would have gotten bigger clubs with more money but at all, at all naim bad.
