Politics › Re: Not Fighting Corruption Is More Dangerous, Kagame Tell Okonjo Iweala. by Goke7: 8:41am On Jan 10, 2019
franchasng:
Many people misunderstood President Goodluck's statement that stealing is not corruption.

APC used their media propaganda back then to blow it out of proportion.

Goodluck was trying to make Nigerians understand that stealing is just an end product of corruption and not the real corruption which I tend to agree.

Corruption goes beyond stealing, corruption is a system that produces stealing and other social vices including stealing.

When it comes to leadership corruption, it goes beyond stealing which was what Goodluck was trying to make Nigerians understand.

Leadership corruption is a systematic approach that involves chains of human systems that connive to perpetrate all manner of evil practices that undermine a nation's growth and development.

When a President ignores rule of law and national laid down policies and bi-laws and appoint cabinet members based on his own personal sentiment and perception, that's a greater form of corruption, but in this case the President did not steal but he has started a system that will breed corruption because there won't be balance to checkmate excesses.

When a President says I will do this and then turns around to do that, that's corruption because he has reneged on his promise to the people but then, that President didn't steal but he is corrupting the system of leadership through lies, deceit, promise and fail, bigotism and above the law kind of ambience.

So if you forget sentiment and partisanship and analyze Goodluck's infamous statement that **stealing is not corruption** you will understand his point.

Close the loopholes and corrupt systems that will breed corruption and then stealing will become hard for corrupt people that was Goodluck's ideology with NOI which was the reason why they started bank BVN, NIM, TSA and many others to ensure that corrupt systems that encourage stealing are closed.

Nigerians ought to be celebrating Goodluck and Ngozi Okonjo Iweala for BVN and TSA, these two great initiatives from them has helped to reduce and curb stealing in Nigeria.

Buhari's approach is to use soldier, EFCC, DSS to be harassing people, that cannot stop or end corruption in any nation, you need to put systems in place to stop and discourage corrupt practices not through guns and bombs
Oga, corruption is so simple to define, no need of long talk, GEJ goofed by making such statement to justify the malpractices happening under his watch. All the BVN and TSA you talked about, GEJ could not implement them fully to avoid the politicians going broke but the full implementation of those procedures is what has created a lot of enemies for PMB among the politicians so what are we talking about.

We all need to agree on the right definition of corruption or else we are all jokers. The loopholes you are talking about, if they are all closed, we all including you and I will be up in arms against any govt that will finally block all the loopholes of corruption. It's as simple as making sure every car owner have up to date valid vehicle documents. Are you sure we all are ready for that?

President Kegame is absolutely right but then he must note:

"Tribalism & religious extremism are the incubators that breed corruption in most African nations, so in fighting corruption in Africa, African leaders must first do away with tribalism, ethnicism and religious bigotry which are greatest forms of corruption"

"Buhari has never fought corruption, Buhari has been busy fighting political opponents and those he does not like using federal and state resources and apparatus, that is not fighting corruption, that is political witch-hunting and every sane citizen of every nation must rise up against Presidents using country's resources and security apparatus to silence opposition in the name of fighting corruption.

If Buhari fought corruption truly, even corrupt Nigerians themselves will hail and respect him, but what Buhari is currently doing is setting bad precedents for incoming Nigerian Presidents to capitalize on
"
You have some valid points but The main issue is have we all in Nigeria agreed on the definition of corruption in Nigeria? That is the starting point, start asking the average Nigerian to define corruption and you will be shocked just like the former president told us that stealing is not corruption.

Until we all agree on the same definition of corruption, then we will be serious, PMB is not the problem but we Nigerians! Even the religious bodies in Nigeria are yet to agree on the definition of corruption

Bro corruption is the bedrock of financial service that’s is the pure truth . Don’t tell me about serious countries every country do this but learn to manage them to their favor from Switzerland to America
Western nations have also discovered that corruption is linked to terrorism which is now a big threat to them, hence their renewed zeal to fight the menace to a standstill. The question you should ask yourself is that why is their judiciary so strong, the judiciary in Nigeria let go of ibori but in the UK it was a different story, why? If truly corruption is the bedrock of their financial service. We keep telling ourselves lies in Nigeria

The world was built on corruption. Fighting it is dangerous. In the west corruption is for the greater good. But in africa it is for personal pocket
Lies, go and launder or steal money in any western nation and see if they will leave you alone like we do in Nigeria. Iweala was only trying to defend her ministerial tenure in Nigeria to draw pity on her efforts to fight corruption

The creation of money itself was way to trick finance! Corruption is laden in every economy. You have to manage corruption! You can’t totally kill corruption cause it’s a cycle!

We need to take advantage of corruption and not follow the multitude of kill corruption! We must learn how to harness the weakness of corruption but saying totally eradicating it is like saying you want to totally eradicate racism it will always be there so far finance services are been rendered!
You are wrong, what ever economic gains you make, corruption will catch up and kill those gains. Your kind of narrative only sells in Nigeria. Any serious country don't joke with corruption.

In 2011 The West supported GEJ because we saw him as an oppressed. The west has always backed anyone they feel was oppressed. That was why Soyinka and Bakare led the save Nigeria group to deliver GEJ from the cabal. Even when many of Jonathans later friends were colluding with the cabal, You remember CAN that later became Jonathans best friends went to Abuja and claimed they saw YarAdua healthy. When everyone else abandoned Jonathan Yorubas stood for him with the SNG

We stood by him to make him substantive president and stood by him in 2011 even against Buhari who had Bakare(A Yoruba) as running mate also against Ribadu who had Fola Adeola(A Yoruba) as running mate

The west voted Jonathan-Sambo ticket that had no Yoruba interest on the ticket

When GEJ got to power he changed, he started marginalizing Yorubas who fought for him, He did everything against Yoruba interest. We sent messages to him which he conveniently ignored, Him and his followers mainly Ibos told us to go and meet Tinubu which we did. We went back to Tinubus ACN

Jonathan was part of the people insulting Yoruba leaders, He was there when Peter Obi and Arthur Eze were calling us Amala people in the Anambra campaign. He was part of the people calling Southwest leaders rascals

He ignored infrastructural developments in the SW, In the oil windfall between 2010 and 2015, He didnt remember to start the railway in SW, he didnt complete any major road in the SW
@the bolded, I remembered this very shameful episode where even the same bishop oyedepo was involved, mhen no be today water don dey pass garri grin

Is that the only defence you can come up with? It's a shame for a VP candidate to say you don't close shop to fight corruption all in the name of defending looters. It tells us the kind of govt they will run, they will open the national treasury to all who want to loot. Very bad sign I tell u. Only morally bankrupt individuals will see that as an intelligent point

Nigeria is joking if it thinks that Corruption is not the main issue, if you like build roads, improve infrastructure and improve the economy, if you don't fight corruption, all your achievements will be eroded. Nigeria has indeed made giant strides since independence in 1960 but all has been eroded and continues to be eroded by the monster called corruption. I stand with the op.
