That's the real money maker: projected to ferry over 2 million passengers (N200-N500m) or more, a day.

This country will never progress until we change all of them 1950/1960s laws; from power to rail, procurement, and e.t.c. -- phewww!
with the mumus in both the house of reps and senate, its a tall order bruv, unless we stop having the likes of saraki, dino, david mark, dogara, bankole and co in our legislature, those outdated laws will never go.

Though not perfect, its time to have brilliant folks like tinubu [not remi tinubu abeg] and fashola in our legslature. They know how to tinker with laws that bring true development.

For some reason, I respect Obanikoro for his moves. Rather than hide overseas in shame, he voluntarily returned to face the consequences.
Exactly, he acted like a man after all, unlike the other girl called ffk who screamed [as if she's about to be raped] anytime EFCC gets close to the gate of the house.
Politics › Re: Why Do You Think Chibok Girls Is A Scam? by Goke7: 12:58pm On Oct 21, 2016
obailala:
My opinion is what I had on the second paragraph. Chibok is not scam, young girls, women and children were kidnapped in large numbers by paedophile terrorists; the Chibok case just happened to be one of the many cases of abduction by bokoharam.

Chibok case gained prominence and popularity for different reasons, one of which is that they were all secondary school students picked up from their school dormitory. Chibok also got the attention of the world due to the loud outcry of activists who decried the lackadaisical attitude of the government then. No doubts when something like that happens and the leadership of the country responds coldly, it presents a beautiful opportunity for opposition politicians to capitalise on to further their own political game. The APC leveraged greatly on the Chibok incident to further dent GEJ's political image. And for this very reason, die-hard GEJ fans still believe anything Chibok is scam orchestrated to unseat their hero. Die-hard GEJ fans also will never forgive anyone (activist or not) who in any way, helped to popularise the Chibok incident.
reason they are so bitter with oby ezekwesili, in fact they can never forgive that woman grin

As someone who grew up in benin, I know how much the benin people reverence their oba. I think the Benin people are still one of the very few ethnic groups that give utmost respect to their oba even far more than any governor in benin city. The word of the oba is bond and no one I mean no one whether a benin person or foreigner dare say anything to dis-respect their beloved and most cherished Oba. For this, I always hold the binis in very high esteem. It also shows in how oba too carries himself with the highest sense of dignity and pride.

Congrats to my bini folks, Obaghatokpere, Iseeeee!
Politics › Re: Why Has Fmr President Goodluck E Jonathan Not Made Any Comment On Chibok Girls by Goke7: 9:01am On Oct 21, 2016
The chibok girls issue will remain a dagger in the heart of GEJ just like June 12 in the heart of IBB

The man simply has nothing to comment and as just like someone said earlier, its even in his best interest to remain silent than cause unnecessary attention. I feel for the man though, he felt the people in the north east were his enemies destroying themselves. If he had weighed the issue better, he would have done better on the chibok girls issue and in combating boko haram.

What a pity. cheesy
This is my grouse with the GEJ and Iweala fans, they have been so brainwashed to forget that GEJ and Iweala were the ones who made Nigeria started borrowing from islamic banks, in fact GEJ remain the first Nigerian President to attend OIC meeting, yet PDP use the islamic thing to express their hatred for PMB and APC all in the name pf politics and garnering votes. Its because the elites know some of the masses will support them sentimentally, that's why they keep having the guts to do this.

Literature › Re: Adichie Condems Buhari's Govt In Blistering New York Times Op-ed by Goke7: 12:20pm On Oct 19, 2016
Nationalist2016:
I think Nigeria's larger tragedy is a very selfish elite, a highly pliable and restless citizenry and a seriously decadent political class. There are very few critics, especially the type that enjoy goodwill from a critical mass who detach tone and temperament whilst offering their opinions on an unpopular subject. So, somehow you will always find "social critics" aligning with popular opinions or causes. And this here is another example, we see it nearly every week, the likes of Pat Utomi, Dele Momodu (a well known flake) and his ilk. Not a lot of this group can distinguish between shaping public opinion and rehashing public sentiments. This is why I say Nigeria is full of Selfists!. These guys think first about their "brand" and constituency rather than broadening the space of thought and daring to offer an unpopular hypothesis. It beats me how Chimamanda will show up with her letters and propagate anecdotes, false impressions and contrived grievances as though they were hard facts. She vainly tries to contrive balance in her faulty analysis, but her skewed point is made. If you are reading this Ms,Adichie ask yourself if it is really true that the anti-corruption war is willfully only targeting opposition? Ask yourself if judges were "harassed and intimidated" like you say. There is a clear difference between explaining and complaining, try if you can to estimate the larger damage politically driven economic sabotage has cost the country and juxtapose that with the wrong perception of flawed economic policy. You do not become a great social critic simply rehashing opinions - because for the most part opinions are NOT facts! I am older than you are - so I also lived during Buhari's short first term in office. The picture you paint of generalised brutality is not one I can remember. You probably read this from the economist and have presented it here as fact. Nigerian armed forces are generally poorly trained - brutality is their badge and it wasn't less or more under Buhari.

Whilst it is true that Buhari has made some mistakes, configuring his cabinet late being the most obvious - it is disingenuous to isolate commentary into a shallow, narrow tube of cause and effect. The Buhari regime has met really difficult times in which the country has NO EASY choices to make. This is why "explaining" NOT complaining has become important. The persons responsible for the lingering rot are uncomfortable with their history and the looming realisation that they WILL pay for it. They have raised the decibel of deflection - mainstreaming the argument about complaining and the likes of Momodu, Adichie and Utomis of this world continue to egg them on. They hunt for likes on social media and constantly want to bask in critical self congratulation. They offer obfuscated analysis and think they can get away with it simply because they are singing the popular chorus. We need to configure a space for wider societal debate about Nigeria. Social media has become a serious threat to critical analysis and democracy as a whole. Even accomplished persons have been seduced by its false "neighbourhood effect". This piece may have been written for terrestrial media but the author no doubt knew it would have a bigger impact on social media.

Whilst Chimamanda writes beautifully when it comes to social commentary she does not write truthfully! Maybe she learn a thing or two from the likes of Sonala Olumhense and Okey Ndibe
You are very right, the elites are our greatest problems, the current economy only look so bad because its the first time the elites got hit very badly which is affecting their wasteful lifestyle. Nigeria's economy has always been very bad for the poor for so many years but elites has always had their way but this time they got screwed badly by PMB and that's why they will keep shouting until thy Kingdom come.

Well said, if we ever lived true to the world's expectation of us, we should be at the minimum, a trillion dollar economy -- and I mean worst case scenario.

Like some commenter pointed out: Lagos pulling Nigeria's weight at the moment.

And with recent developments between Lagos and Ogun states, the GDP combined of both states could well be comfortably challenging for 2nd or 3rd largest economy in Africa in some few years to come.
very true, especially if Ogun can step up its infrastructure like Lagos is doing. We are supposed to be seeing a rail construction going on now to link Lagos, Ogun and Ibadan. That will leave the rest of Nigeria behind by over 50 years.

And what's wrong with the listundecided…for all i know it's the same procedures for all true bible believing churches...there's nothing new here if you are really a committed worker in church and you know the doctrines of wedding/marriage...what they are simple saying is, dress decently, let the church commitee know your wedding plans on time and keep to time on your wedding day...is that really a hard thing to do??
The RCCG rules still looks liberal to me sef. In my church, the groom to be house or residence will be inspected and verified without his knowledge to ascertain that he is the owner of the house or he rented it himself to avoid situations where an husband to be is actually squatting with a friend and still claim he has his own apartment.

though saraki is a joke, but the truth is gradually, its getting to the minds of politicians that corruption must be fought for national development to occur. The Politicians may not be serious but PMB has succeeded in laying a good precedence in the fight against corruption.

The next government after PMB from any party whatsoever will have no option but to continue with the fight against corruption especially as crude oil prices continue to dwindle. Those shouting witch-hunt and wiping sentiments will continue to lose the battle.
