EasternActivist: That's how edo election has always been as seen in the last presidential election. that is how elections in every state in this country should be. If you remember even in bayelsa, it was also a close one between pdp and apc. We are in a way becoming a two party state reminiscence of the days of sdp and nrc or npn and upn. The idea that a particular state completely hate a particular party is wrong and fraudulent. It does not exist anywhere in this country |

This was a close one to call, this looks like what an election results should look like, no matter how good a govt is, there must always be a stiff opposition. All those landslide victories in the past were all mago mago.
I salute Edo people. This was a keen contest indeed, hope ondo will follow suite.
A lesson for those places where people are killed or beheaded all in the name of trying to prove party supremacy. |

Guyman02: Tinubu feels that the economy is suffering because his plans were thrown out by the CPC arm of the alliance led by Buhari to keep the country in shape. He had proposed Ben Akabueze to be appointed as Finance Minister but Amosun and Fayemi presented Adeosun to PMB; it took several months when it was already late for PMB to first appoint Akabueze as Special Assistant and later as DG Budget when the economy has already sunk into a recession. Tinubu despite me not liking his political style has never been anti Igbo and he needs the support of the South so as not to be weakened further by the Northern oligarchs who want to entrench their grip on power at the center. But how come the igbos continue to see tinubu as their number one enemy and cause of their present political palaver, in fact so many of them are happy with the man's misfortunes now |

PS : Tambuwal is too wrong for this task. Tinubu practically backed and shielded him from the sledge hammers of gej and he back-stabbed BAT by rejectinr the BAT candidate. This site wields a lot of influence could break or make this country.
Pls do something about it as a matter of urgency.
If you don't do anything about it , you will leave me with no choice other than starting a movement calling for the closure of the site for the sake of national health. though you have a point but I think you are a bit on the extreme, the hatred you see is the true reflection of the current state of Nigeria right now which is a spill over from the 2015 elections, lots of folks are still embittered over their electoral loss. Nairaland is just one of the mediums as it is all over the social media space from facebook to twitter, sharareporters, premium times and virtually all the nigerian newspaper websites. It will take some time for all these tensions to die down maybe after 2019. Its even better people vent this hatred online than for us to take arms against ourselves. Its a healing process and with time, reason will prevail. We are just being emotional, that's all. |

The Problem we have in this part of the world is lack of understanding of leadership. We are too personal in the way we view or rate leadership. Once a leader does not grease your palm or hurt you personally, we condemn such leaders even though the leader must have made giant strides in other endeavors.
This is the dilemma of Tinubu, he must have hurt or offend so many but can we deny his results since his foray into politics? Someone said a good leader is properly rated by his successor and those he has reproduced himself into. Tinubu has done this by producing so many quality leaders which abound everywhere. The fact that Lagos state govt is not feeling the impacts of the current recession is a testimony to Tinubu's Leadership qualities.
Its high time we stop being emotional and give credit to whom is due. I dare anyone to tell me that Politician that is as liberal and accommodating as Tinubu. |

TonyeBarcanista: I agree with you @OP. I am not Yoruba nor APC but the Yorubas must NEVER allow Tinubu to be disgraced by those that benefited from him simply because of envy. What has Tinubu done wrong? His only offence was that he enjoys massive popularity.
BTW, Even if a South/North ticket wont be feasible in 2019, I will support a Christian North/Muslim South ticket. The Presidential and VP candidates may come from NE or NC and SW or SE respectively. The idea is to put an end to the feeling of monopoly of political control in Nigeria. oga easy for this tinubu matter nah, kilode! |

Pr0gressive01: The hausa/fulani have effectively reduced bat to sw politics where he is known.
We don't need tinubu in the SE/SS. SW votes were split in 2015 despite all tinubu did let alone now that the fulani hegemony has clipped his wings.
If Buhari decided to contest in 2019, it might be difficult for a president or VP from the eastern axis. However, an Atiku may be able to pull something really big. Once Atiku can effectively share the north with Buhari, he might get it with block support from the SE/SS. chest beating as usual, there is already a thread on the politics section of nairaland asking why sw won't support the se in 2019. |
Politics › Re: POLITICS OF BETRAYAL: The Unfair Criticism And Treatment Of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by Goke7: 2:00pm On Sep 27, 2016 |
Pr0gressive01: The truth is that tinubu cannot do much without the support of the SE/SS.
His power ends in SW politics and even there, the APC is raising forces against him. In the north, there is very little tinubu can do to weaken Buhari's influnce.
The truth is that tinubu might be politically finished; he is effectively hemmed in.
He made the SE/SS his enemy and the north don't have time for any yoruba man, all they want is their sai baba.
Tinubu is left with only his lackeys in SW like aresa and others. LAGOS the 5th or 6th largest african economy is enough for the Jagaban, what is in the north that tinubu is looking for? It is the SS and SE that needs tinubu more in 2019 to get enough votes for their pdp vice presidential candidate. |

Politics › Re: POLITICS OF BETRAYAL: The Unfair Criticism And Treatment Of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by Goke7: 1:51pm On Sep 27, 2016 |
DanielPop: Tinubu is a political weight no doubt but never a heavy weight. His precedent i understand very well but clearly it isn't a product of sound, logical and practical strategy but more of a strategy carried on the wings of graft and violence. No real brain. If he had applied brain, he would have been conscious of Law 1 in the 48 laws of power - "Never outshine the master."
Constantly reminding Buhari that it was Tinubu's benevolence that put him there has inspired fear and insecurity in Buhari. Tinubu has therefore become an enemy and a threat. So Buhari, in the power game, has to eliminate that threat Tinubu poses.
Secondly, Tinubu haven infringed on Law 1 has inspired Buhari and his henchmen to activate Law 15 "Crush your enemy totally." All great leaders know that a feared enemy must be crushed totally because if one ember is left alight, no matter how dimly it smolders, a fire will eventually breakout. The battle started as soon as Buhari won the election and will end when Tinubu is destroyed economically and thrown in jail.
As for Tinubu crossing over to PDP. Ask yourself, will hardcore PDP yield up their party to Tinubu? Let us assume for a moment that they will. It will be only to regain power using Tinubu like CPC used him. Once that is done, Tinubu will again come under the hammer. Why do i say this, he has infringed on Law 3 "Conceal your intentions." Every one knows that Tinubu is driven by insatiable lust for power and wont stop until he attains the ultimate prize. So, once your power intentions is known openly, adversaries will prepare their defense. Every political bed Tinubu steps into going forward will keep his bed partners on their toes planning to do him political mayhem after using him. Just like Buhari is doing.
So what is the way forward for Tinubu? Recoil back into prebendal politics to reclaim his "famed West" from the hands of "friends" that he oppressed while he held sway as Lord of the Manor, if he can. Those friends are now dining with Buhari who has wooed them using Law 12 "Use Selective Honesty and Generosity to Disarm your victim". They are being deceived and manipulated at will by Buhari and his forces to betray Tinubu.
So can Tinubu regain the West? I say if he can because he has lost Ondo and will lose others....even Lagos if the forces against him play unlike Jonathan. They will!
Watch out in the coming months in this onslaught on Tinubu. I hope you are in our nollywood industry, if not you are wasting your talent here on nairaland which can make Nigerian economy not get out of recession on time. |

TonyeBarcanista: There is no entitlement in politics my brother. We supported the ascension of Saraki and Dogara to weaken APC NOT Tinubu as a person, that was politics. A weak APC is a blessing to PDP just like a divided PDP is the joy of APC. There shouldn't be emotional bitterness in politics.
However, politics has to do with alignment and realignment to fight a common adversary. The CPC/ANPP and some ungrateful "ACN" members sees Tinubu as a common enemy and Buhari a common project, the PDP has no problem with Tinubu but Buhari seeing that we want to dethrone him(politics), for Buhari's men to have their way, Tinubu will have to go down. This makes Buhari be the automatic adversary of Tinubu, hence, both PDP and Tinubu share common adversary. Why can't both come together and have a well defined understanding to protect their interest and face a common political adversary that enjoys powers of the State?
Bro, BAT is a politician and this is politics. #IStandWithBAT So after killing the common adversary, what happens next? You begin to turn against yourselves again ba? Oga its a ridiculous cycle. EternalTruths: So you think the population of the part of SW loyal to Tinubu will be enough to stop Buhari's government without the help of the SS and SE populations.
Read the handwriting on the wall
The SW is divided just like Awo and Akintola era
Those loyal to Tinubu in the West can't stop Buhari
Without the support of the SS and SE populations, Tinubu resistance will see him end up in prison like Awo.
Tinubu must kneel down publicly and beg Jonathan to help him rally the SS and SE populations
Failure to do so, will see the wild wild west of 1964 repeat itself and Tinubu imprisoned if he fights back. abegi wetin, the same SE and SS that will need votes from the sw to support a SE vice Presidential PDP candidate come 2019. Don't you know Barcanista is just testing the waters of SW politics for that calculation. TonyeBarcanista: My guy, I am not aware about Atiku, that some pro-Atiku people are clamoring for him based on written script does not imply PDP. Tinubu can never be treated like thrash in PDP because we recognize his political weight. Also, PDP is not a party that is owned by any region whether North or South. Nobody can say PDP is Igbo party or Hausa party, in PDP it is purely politics of interests. What does Tinubu want? From observation he doesnt want much aside being given his due place and accorded due respect. This PDP has jhistory of.
I know Tinubu coming would facilitate the exit of some serial losers of PDP within SW (which is a welcome development) but the good news is that it will help make a statement that no region is the single political god of Nigeria especially when he helps win 2019. Is it not ministers and Governors he would love to nominate? PDP has no problem with that. This your smooth talk sounds interesting I must admit but its not as straightforward as you think, I don't think tinubu will move to pdp. He is likely to form a new party and may be the disgruntled folks in pdp will team up with him and then go on from there. Remember lots of disgruntled folks from pdp also moved to the APC. So we may have a situation where disgruntled folks from both the pdp and APC teaming up with tinubu on a new platform. These are all assumptions bruv |
