If politicians don't have them as ally, they would do right since they know they can't steal anyone's madate and get away with it. Exactly, we want an improved economy without dealing with those responsible for diverting funds which can be used to improve the same economy. We are just jokers in Nigeria |

I grew up in Benin so I knew this lady way back in the 90s, her father had a motel or beer parlor if you call it, there was this big mechanic workshop near the beer parlor where this lady actually started learning, it was like a child's play but look at what passion has brought this lady be it fame, wealth and so on.
Lesson: never despise the days of humble beginnings, even me myself never knew this is how far this lady will go. Am sure she is surely the biggest start her family has produced among her many siblings. God bless you Sandra, I am humbled. |

mencer: President Muhammadu Buhari has officially signed ‘Paris Agreement on Climate Change’ at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York September 22, 2016.
an agreement meant to cut global greenhouse gas emissions, mainly from burning fossil fuels, to limit floods, droughts, more powerful storms and rising ocean level this is why like somebody said, we need more scientists and engineers in govt. An engineer as Power minister would have advised the president better in addition to a pure scientist as environment minister. Nigeria has refused to sign the EPA/west africa deal simply because we fully understand the implications with the economic experts that we have but we keep failing in the areas that are scientific and technically oriented. |

LorDBolton: To be honest this your post is fraught with ignorance...
These lands are as dry as you can imagine during dry season/rainy season, it's the dam opening that's causing havoc thus it's govt who errs by not dredging the canals and building steep pavements.
The houses in my area are @least 3/5 from the canals thus no single blockage it's all a result of opening a dam not rains.
Everywhere around the world FLOOD happens recently southern Australia was flooded badly(google it) even down to the main highways (in a planned place like Australia o). So maybe they should all desert southern Australia? Its already progressed past many towns
So Stop being ignorant.(even mentioning sea bed like u know what SEA BED means) That those lands are dry does not mean they are not flood plains. Its better not to build on a flood plain in a country like ours where our response to emergency is not swift. |
Politics › Re: Houses Submerged By Flood In Ifo, Ogun State - Photos by Goke7: 11:31am On Oct 06, 2016 |
YourNemesis: My post is not fraught with ignorance, but rather, you own thought process is. What is a dam and what does it do? It stores water upstream. When a river is dammed, the original waterflow shrinks downstream to a glory of its former self... BUT the original river bed still remains. People over time seeing that this has become new/virgin "land" begin building in river beds, forgetting that dams further upstream are not disaster proof or lasting solutions. Dams can become full when precipitation is in excess, or when capacity becomes filled, in which case excess water would have to be released which would fill the river bed. except the volume of released water is so great that it overflows. That is standard practice for dams in every part of the world, so you can't exactly blame the dam authorities for releasing excess water to relieve pressure on the dam barrage. Failure to do so woud have led to even bigger disaster for downstream communities..Go to Lagos and Ogun states, and see how close to the ogun river people have built houses... you've said it all, our people should stop building on flood plains, its that simple. Take iyana oworo for instance and see how close people build to the Lagoon and creeks around there. Like someone said earlier, we are too unscientific in this part of the world. Water must always find its level. |

Nalikedis: which condition aside rules made by super powers which they themselves renege on. Nuclear power is the cheapest, cleanest, and the most sustainable source of energy yet the super powers cornered it. They only conspire to stop lesser countries from building nuclear plant while they legislate on building new nuclear plants. After they have burnt coal for years they coerced us to sign agreement. More than 70% of their power came from fossil fuel and they are not closing those plants up but they are mandating us not to build ours. they shifted their attention to a far cheaper nuclear and make stringent rules that will prevent us from following same route instead they ask us to safe the planet by using the super expensive solar technology and like illiterate and ignorant most of us are we hail them on and claim sophistication. Time to have more engineers and scientist in government they understand how things work and how to solve problems all this lawyers and economist only live by the rules and economize a ridiculously insufficient resources... no idea on how to create resources Exactly, our backwardness in science and technology is our bane. na only party we sabi in this part of the world. |
Politics › Re: "Islamisation Of Nigeria Is Real" - Ben Nwabueze by Goke7: 9:30am On Oct 06, 2016 |
GBTYO: Muslims did not bother converting millions of Hindus and Buddhists in India, they simply butchered them all.
Jihad isn't bothered by conversion using peaceful means but rather through brute force and terror tactics.
Or how many Christians has Shekau converted? How many times have we seen muslim going about preaching to convert souls to islam?
The islamization agenda involves subjugating and reducing the influence of Christians and it involves several methods from economic suppression, discrimination, legislature in the form of jihadist lawfare that we know as sharia and also includes forced marriages, abductions, rape and outright murder.
All these are happening in our polity under the Grand Khalifar of the Niger. Even you that is talking is also guilty of this. It is human nature to discriminate, suppress and reduce the influence of his or her fellow human. This have been happening from the creation of man. It has nothing to do with which religion anyone practice. All our Nigerian leaders be it executive, legislature and even the judiciary discriminate, suppress and oppress Nigerians with their position, power and influence inspite of whatever religion they practice, reason we are not developing as we should. You proponents of islamization are just political because of PMB, we've had muslim Presidents in the past and any muslim in power will always promote their religion and including the christian Presidents we've had in the past too. Nigeria is made up of both Christians and muslims. We will continue to produce leaders from both religions and even other religions too. All the killings and atrocities you are talking about has been happening all over the years in Nigeria including the period we had Christians as Presidents. |

This is a blessing in disguise, I for once wants no special status for Lagos cos it will continue to make folks from other parts of the country lay unnecessary claim on Lagos. The rejection of the bill preserves the the indigenous identity of Lagos which is what a lot of folks do not understand
Lagos remains a Yoruba state and should be preserve as such. To hell with the special status cos it can breed future unnecessary disputes.
That most Nigerians wants to be in Lagos should be seen as a plus and prosperity for posterity for the true indigenes of Lagos. |

This is a battle for tinubu political relevance and survival, whatever happens at the polls will determine tinubu future. If tinubu works against apc ,he will incur the wrath of the party and president,if he works for apc that means he has surrendered to akeredolu and if by luck apc wins ,akeredolu and his faction will have no respect for tinubu. Now he is in the middle and he must take a stand and face the consequences. Ondo has always been PDP bruv, Your theory here holds no water. |

Did they not think their actions through? truth is with all their mouth, they can't match Jagaban political machinery. If the apc govt at the centre wanted to rig this election and post a landslide result, they would have giving the pdp the rivers or ekiti treatment. I run with you on this one 101%. This is how an election atmosphere and results should look like. They were all mago mago results, even the bayelsa guber elections never followed that yeye trend. Both the edo and bayelsa elections and even Kogi though the man died are all good examples of how sates guber election results should look like which makes it more credible. Nigeria is almost becoming a two party state with the guber election results trend edo, bayelsa and Kogi has presented so far which is good for our democracy and both pdp and apc can build on that, they will both loose some and win some. Way to go if you ask me. |
