With Life, there is hope, This spells the [b]russian roulette[/b situation] of Nigeria and its national assets.. She is damned if she does but it's sure death if she doesn't.. What and what will be sold is the problem here, if its moribund assets like ajaokuta steel and the refineries, no problem including all our airports but that NLNG will finally deepen the Niger delta crisis, I hope someone has not finally misled PMB. We sold PHCN, still we don't have much to show and the people who bought it are even telling us that there will soon be blackout. The thinking of the average Nigerian is the problem whether private sector or public sector |

Am telling you d man was so poor defending una mama. I watched the guy on AIT yesterday. They have no case at all, what the guy was saying yesterday was that PEJ had no idea initially that the account was not in her name when it was opened. He claimed PEJ called the bank and asked them to bring their forms to effect the changes when she discovered the error made by the aide. I said WHAT? The man even said EFCC was consulted before opening the account for her medical purposes. My take is that PEJ should have acted as if she knew nothing about the account, is she not worth more than 15k usd? trouble sleep, yanga go wake am. PEJ's greed is her albatross. No smart politician will claim ownership of such a controversial account especially if he or she is worth more than that. |

Do you blame them, this is the reason for the under-development in the SE and SS. They prefer cash whether stolen or not to proper development of their region. |

The op is just full of assumptions like all the other economic analysts that has been blabbing over these economic issues.
No one, I say no one has been able to come up with any clear and objective solutions, even if the interest rates have been lowered some one will come up to say that if the govt have done this earlier, things will not get this bad. Now the interest rates have been retained and all we hear is that the cbn now has full autonomy and that they are right not to lower interest rates.
Nigeria I hail thee, let's keep confusing ourselves with all these assumptions. |

gabicon: How do you explain Singapore Airlines, KLM, air France, British airways all better than Ethiopian airlines all quoted on their respective stock exchange? Margaret Thatcher had to privatise British airways in 1981 to return it to profitability.
If we want to be better than the best we need to start using yardstick that surpasses the best all countries stated have better economies than Ethiopia, we need to start looking at countries that transcended from poverty to prosperity in the last 50 years as model for our growth, countries like Singapore, south Korea, Japan etc Ethiopian airlines remains a testimony to the fact that any Govt can run a successful and profitable business if it wants to. I support Govt removing its hands from most business ventures but not all. Its on this I maintained that the NLNG should not be sold especially in relation to the Niger delta crisis. It would have been better for GEJ to sell off LNG that PMB. However for a start, Govt should hands off running all our airports, that to me is a better area to start than NLNG. |

If GEJ had won, there will be no shouts for restructuring, its just their own way of playing opposition to whatever the present FG does. |

gabicon: First of all I don't see the reason why government is involving herself in business, their responsibility is to create a level playing field, create the modalities of how business should be run in the state and collect their taxes. that said, what is the use of crown jewels when people are suffering, secondly the crown jewels is presently servicing mostly government officials in the form of salaries n running cost the people profit little.
Selling these assets will force our government to think on other revenue generation options, remember the reason most people don't start their business is cos a salary is still coming in the salary stops they are forced to think same goes for government.
Let the Chinese buy these assets and they will experience astronomical growth, if politicians want to buy it that's fine but the sale should be claused in such a way that the assets can be repossessed if the buyer fails to meet growth criteria.
Government of Developed countries don't own business assets they simply create an enabling environment for business to thrive and they collect their taxes, in Singapore their water works was once run by government but today it is quoted in the Singapore stock exchange, moral is an investor always makes things work cos his survival depends on it and any smart governments Moto should be the investors have to work cos our survival depends on them. How do you now explain Ethiopian airline which is 100% Govt owned and ranks as one of the best airlines in the world travelling to all continents. |

For a man who kept going despite 3 failed attempts at being President says a lot of his doggedness. It is your hero GEJ that was even a product of quota system as he had to be spoon fed to become President by Obj. It's only businesses who are waiting for Govt's dollar that are feeling the recession most, others have moved on and are thinking out of the box already bruv. |

Are banks suppose to depend of public funds. buhari governance as made me realise implementin even best of the policies wonnt turn tins around... we all are nt ready to change.. oil marketers now buy onshore frm nnpc vessel in naira yet they clamour fr increase in name of dollar. there is so much wrong wit us as people than as a country...leaders were onces followers PMB exposed the fact that Nigerians are not as hardworking as we all think. This is the major grouse folks have with PMB, the man open everybody yansh no be small. I was in a maritime stakeholders meeting with the Minister of Transport one day, you need to see how the so called big boys and players in the Nigerian maritime sector were begging the minister to tell the cbn to make dollars available at their preferred rate as if we print dollars in Nigeria. We have a very weak private sector in Nigeria who do not think out of the box. Those who do are not feeling the impact of any recession at all. Do you know that ordinary tiling for building is mostly done by folks from nearby francophone countries. The question I now ask myself is what exactly are we good at in this country? e be like say na dance and party we good pass. . Though we still have hardworking Nigerian folks but they are not enough to deliver the economy of our dreams. |

Its left for the states to now do their part. I love the way the FG is dishing out the figures of the money shared regularly.
But I think its high time the FG begin to get more serious with capital projects and be more visible like the way ambode seems to be making Lagos states projects so physically visible.
If the FG begins to make its projects so visible, the masses will begin to shift their gaze on the states governors to demand for more accountability. |

The queue you are seeing may be due to panic buying from online rumors that there will be scarcity like the queues witnessed in lekki few weeks back. If their stock run out, they will source for product or else, they run out of business. Subsidy is the shakara used in those days to hold the country to ransom but now its gone. |
