OLADD: Nobody ever said Dasukigate is mere propaganda. Nobody does but we have consistently said the money was spent on 2015 elections in the same way Ameachi, Fashola, Okorocha and other APC governors allegedly spent their security votes and other funds in bringing Buhari to power. Let Buhari and APC leadership raise their hands to heavens and swear by their lives that state funds were not used in the 2015 presidential and other elections. Hypocrisy and satanism is when you prosecute only PDP offenders but leaves the rogues in your party who committed same offences to go scot free.
Meanwhile, why is Jafaru Isa (Buhari's ally who allegedly refunded part of Dasukigate) not prosecuted? Hmmmm, APC and Buhari, make we just dey look. Tales by moonlight! |

khSteel: Lagos - Calabar railway is good and needs to be done; but you must understand & address the peoples' concerns appropriately.
You can't sit in your house and determine whats' best for you and do the same for the others. If the people from the other side wants a seaport first, lets understand it and work towards making it available instead of all these noise from your quarter in telling people what's good for them or not. You/your people knows absolutely nothing about what the others feel or the challenges they face; so, you/your people should stop all these I-Know-It-All mentality and face issues challenging your communities.
Thank you. Can we stop this dumb politics of seaport, how is a seaport an excuse for not having railway. Someone should please stop making the SE a laughing stock. |
Politics › Re: FG Provoking Ndigbo Everyday – Ekweremadu by Goke7: 10:10am On Apr 18, 2016 |
Gext22: A seaport is not a job for the state government alone. The FG either deliberately or otherwise is taking up irrelevant projects and leaving vital ones to the largely incompetent States. Smh The enugu airport deal had been in progress long before buhari got In. In fact, it had to take a daughter of the soil to make that airport international after years of deliberate neglect. oh so the states are now incompetent, thought you guys said the PMB's FG is incompetent, the way you guys speak from both ends of the mouth is so amazing. Yes the enugu project deal has been on the cards yet your beloved hero did not approve it ba? Even if PMB build a seaport for you guys now, you will credit to the previous govt. You guys are playing politics without common sense all because of a failed party called the Peoples destruction party otherwise known as pdp. PMB is even too nice for my liking, he would have left it to your daughter of the soil to come and approve it for you. smh |

Politics › Re: FG Provoking Ndigbo Everyday – Ekweremadu by Goke7: 9:40am On Apr 18, 2016 |
Gext22: The FG should take the project as a priority and bring it to fruition. Railway would not have as much impact on the eastern economy like a seaport would. The FG should build a seaport first, and build a railway after. You accuse and taunt them of flooding Lagos for economic opportunity. Give them the wherewithal to build their own Lagos. Cross river is already planning one which has the blessings of FG, there is nothing wrong in railway dear, stop the politics. FG has just approved more international flight destinations for the SE from Enugu and an indigenous airline for that. This will reduce the heavy traffic in Lagos airports and create more economic activities in the SE. |
Politics › Re: 2016 Budget: Heads May Roll As Presidency Uncovers More Infractions by Goke7: 9:33am On Apr 18, 2016 |
KBrown: For those who still don't understand what is going on. let me try to make it simpler. As regards budgeting, based on the principle of separation of power, the executive is expected to propose the projects for which funds are required while the NASS scrutinise and approve or disapprove (not slash). The executive will then sign and implement while the NASS monitor in their oversight function. The executive is free to re-present the disapproved funds with better explanations and other urgent need in supplementary budget. However, by proposing new constituency projects and approving for themselves, the NASS has thrown out the doctrine of separation of powers. This has been the past practice during the Jonathan era without challenge . This is the reason why budget implementation has always been low because most of the time, the projects introduced by the NASS are either not yet designed or the contractors, usually nominated by them cannot access the funds. The present administration wants CHANGE and that means that we cannot continue to do things the wrong and expect a good result. If the NASS want their constituency projects, the proper way is to route it through the executive to propose so that they (NASS) approve. I am of the firm believe that if the lessons of this year is imbibed by both parties, next year's budget, God willing, will pass smoothly. well said, thanks a lot. we's ve got lots of misguided and ignorant folks on nairaland these days |
Politics › Re: 2016 Budget: Heads May Roll As Presidency Uncovers More Infractions by Goke7: 9:30am On Apr 18, 2016 |
hush15: If this you think this is how to teach one on how to be firm, then it's quite unfortunate that you just deceiving yourself.
That the NASS prudently pruned the budget which they felt was exhorbitant on certain projects and rather than the president to proceed atleast with what he has, when he needs more, he states the progress and why he needs more. It is not that the bridge will be finished this year neway. Nobody is saying the projects are not laudable however, it's not an excuse to bill exhorbitantly for it since we trying to be more prudent in these tough times as a country and we seem to have forgotten that this government promise to be more cost effective.
As for the Lagos-calabar rail project, it's been proven that it was not covered in the initial budget and since the presidency wants it in, there are other means of presenting it through either budget amendment or supplementary than going through the back door.
But because some are too sentimental in the heads, Buhari must always have his way. Even when his approach is wrong. When errors exist in the budget from the executive. Why won't the NASS have issues and rather than tackle the problem for the source which is the executive, you here play political sentiments. It's really sad with sentiments like yours drawing Nigeria backwards. budget is not a sacred document, it is all about planning and before it is approved, it can be adjusted over 100 times, we all do budgets is our offices, let's stop misinforming people please, there is no back door thing, its all part of the budget process. Amaechi does not need to go and prostrate before all the senators to get anything adjusted, that is why there is budget defence and a committee to look at things and make corrections where necessary. Did the lawmakers have to prostrate before PMB to insert their own projects, was it in the original document? Please let's stop the misinformation, budget can be readjusted 100 times before approval, its all about planning, nothing sacred please |

Gext22: abia has a decent potential for seaport. If that is too far-fetched, ibaka in the SS is also a perfect option. I wonder why all those people that want igbos to leave Lagos are fighting for a rail that Connects both regions. It is time to put their money where their mouths are. Build a seaport and scrap any useless railway that would not help the eastern economy In the long run. are there not plans already? we've been hearing these plan for years now, railway contributes positively all over the world.
