Just got to the uk today as dependant and was asked why im in the uk...I told the oyibo say i come join my wife ooh kilode! He asked how long we have been married, i told the man and he asked for marriage certificate oooh...ah na so i search my hand luggage e no dey (i remembered i kept it in my checked in luggage) what i only say was court affidavit of marriage and he saw my kids were mentioned in the affidavit, that one led to another question...where are ur kids? I told him they are in Nigeria and he asked who are they with...i replied: they are with my mum...he went further to ask how i will sustain myself financially ah! I told him my wife is working and i will get a job as well and i have been applying from my home country, he asked what work is she doing and if I have gotten a job offer already...i said not yet still applying, he just gave me back my docs and stamped me in.

The questions were too much abeg!
I can imagine how hard & loud your heart must've been pounding at that moment!grin
Congratulations to you ooo!🙌

As I stated, some professional bodies require the Academic. The UK’s Nursing & Midwifery Council is an example and state this on their website.
My dear, no need to stretch this any longer.
You're right with your own argument that IELTS for UKVI Academic is needed for professional registration; we're also right by trying to enlighten you that IELTS for UKVI both Academic and General are acceptable for the Skilled Worker visa/Healthcare visa, as long as it's IELTS for UKVI.
While IELTS for UKVI General is used solely for visa purposes, IELTS for UKVI Academic has the added advantage of being used for both visa purposes and acceptable by most, if not all, UK universities for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
Since the first person said he needed advice on which IELTS test to take which s/he could use for either Skilled Worker visa or for studies, we are of the opinion that s/he may wish to take IELTS for UKVI Academic for both purposes.

Guys, what IELTS type do I need to take that will qualify me for HCW visa route? And in case that doesn't work , I can use same IELTS for education route?
You can take IELTS for UKVI (ACADEMIC), it is accepted by UKVI for the Skilled Worker visa and also by most UK universities for undergrad & postgrad studies.

I have 3 years of hospital experience working in the laboratory.
I didn't register with any professional body not Required for the post.
WOW! That's great!
Please don't be offended. What job SOC code is the Med Lab Assistant role classified under? Is it 6145/6146 as in Care Assistant? And can a non-Med Lab Scientist apply for it? Thanks.

My story can only be defined as a miracle. God did.
Job interview was August 2022 I got unsuccessful mail in September but was told I will be kept on reserve for 6 months due to the standard of my application/interview I contacted interviewer and was informed that they are awaiting funding for two more positions and will be willing to offer me one once funding is approved. Waiting game began I even forgot about the post. 30th October I got a mail requesting I call them on the 1st of November I joined the call via teams and was informed that I am being offered a position. Passport wasn't done had to do express passport. COS came a month later December 8 my ecctis application delayed the final visa application because my school won't give me my transcript until a months time.

Documents submitted
COS maintenance was ticked.
TB CERTIFICATE
MAINTENANCE LETTER From sponsor
Passport
Degree result was needed for English proof
Ecctis certificate soft copy

No Police character submitted as my profession wasn't on the list. I was scared because I didn't submit police character report.
Please do you mind telling us if this is an NHS job and at what band is it? Thanks.

Please someone should answer this question. It is urgent and I am very worried.
Please

Please help, my Police character certificate only has my first and last name while my passport has my middle name included. Is this an issue? If I do a court affidavit to clear this , is that enough?
Court affidavit should be fine, if they request further evidence.

Like how much can a Registered Nurse pay to get COS ?
As an RN, you're at a far better advantage of getting COS without paying, because, I mean you're a qualified nurse. All you have to do is take your IELTS Academic & study hard to score the NMC required band 7. Then register & take CBT exam, pass it & start applying for registered nurse positions on NHS. You'd be surprised at how many hospitals that would be willing not just to offer you COS but to sponsor your relocation to the UK.

Please how do I book police clearance certificate ahead?
Possap.gov.ng Register and pay 30k, then wait for about 24hrs for your payment slip to show up on dashboard, print it & rush to the state police headquarters & do the capturing. You'll then be able to download the PCC from your dashboard after about 24hrs or so.

Hi all,
Just wanted to give an update on this in case anyone finds themselves in this situation in the future.

My sister just received her BRP letter today to say her application has been successfully!

Here are the things I did below:
* Applied for IELTS which she was unable to write due to not having her passport
* Naric was not an option as she doesn’t have a degree
* The embassy gave us 10 working days to respond and they wrote in CAPS they they weren’t going to give an extension

However, I did some research and found LanguageCert! I called them and they confirmed she can take the test with her national ID

So, I booked the next available date however, I was quickly faced with the issue of the 10 working days deadline given by the embassy so I emailed them a compelling letter attaching all the evidence of the IELTS she was unable to write, and the LanguageCert confirmation. I got no response from them whatsoever but they must have taken that into consideration as her application was approved.

Good luck everyone - just waiting for her kids email to come through now
Thanks for updating us. Congrats to you & your sister.

Pls Honourables and comrades in the House, does it mean that after February 15th, the
UK Skilled Worker Visa / Health And Care Worker Visa programme will come to an end or will they extend it?
People are getting it all wrong. It's not the entire visa programme but only care assistant jobs, which were just included last year Feb 15, that may or may not be extended. SW & HCW Visa continue for other eligible professions.

Are you sure you need to obtain a UK police report for the UK Skilled Worker visa? I thought it only requires police reports from other countries apart from the UK.

I’m not a guru but this is very unfortunate o!
Those guys don’t like people mis-representing information.
I will advise the agent should make enquiries on how to fix this.
The VO would never believe it was an oversight.
If your hubby hasn’t travelled, he can go back to them to cancel his visa and explain he misrepresented then apply properly.
Because even if he travels, he can’t apply for his dependents (kids) that are older than his visa.
Or he goes back and say you guys were divorced then and you’ve reconciled now.
This is nice advice. Guidance from an immigration lawyer may also be helpful in this situation.

I have a brother that just got to the UK, he’s been trying to apply for jobs but they all saying he needs a police clearance report, please how can he get it while overseas or can someone help him do it here in Nigeria?
I feel that Nigerian Embassies in foreign countries may be able to help Nigerians in the diaspora in this regard. Maybe he needs to inquire from them if it'd be possible.

People that have kids out of wedlock nko? Should they commit suicide ni??
I thought she mentioned that she was "married" (not out of wedlock) but currently separated, and that the children were still bearing the ex-husband's surname, and not her own surname (maiden name). As such, her current legal status is either married or separated or divorced, not single, and the children's father must be involved in one way or the other. But it's okay, if I was wrong.

It's her first passport , so should she says she is single as well or married she would be using her fathers name
If there's any option for 'separated' she may wish to select that because she was married before and has kids from the ex-husband, or else, it might be difficult to lay claims on the kids.

I don't think so. I applied from the UK gov't website and it was after about 6 weeks that I got a mail for an interview.
The way you said from the UK govt website is quite funny.
Please beware that the official UK govt website is gov.uk just like most other countries' govt official website it must bear .gov.
I pray people would be wiser this year to discern scams!

VISA ALERT
Route: Skilled worker (Tier 2)
Senior care assistant
For my wife (but I did the whole applications and follow ups) Will join later with the kids
My own story na grace ooh.
Job enquiry April 22 (my enquiry mail entered junk and employer pulled it out and replied me)
job interview June 1st
job offer June 28
offer letter Aug 26th
cos nov 5th
visa application 1st dec
biometrics 7th dec (Ikeja TLS ASSISTED SERVICE)
decision 16th dec
transferred to vac 21st dec
received by vac 21st dec
dispatched with dhl 21st
received today from dhl 28th dec (dhl delayed due to festive period)
It actually took a very long time due to COS allocation
I took a lot of risk...even sent the kids to village thinking everything will work by September for where!
She had 3 interviews from different employers but this one scaled through.
3 PCCs (from 5k to 40k), 2 TB tests

I also have another story to share for my friend that is not on this forum. His COS was quite swift (1 week). only one job application. He is currently on visa application.
Also he did ecctis, which came out in less than 24hrs after payment (swift too). I paid 48hr fast track service for him but it was less than 24hrs (from 21st-22nd). I don't know if it was because of their holiday that started on 23rd. I was shocked because most people in this forum said ecctis takes 20days, 30days lol.
I thank God for everything and everyone who contributed to my questions. Its quite a helpful forum cos I read from the beginning of the thread.
Thank you guys!!
Congrats, bro. Please is it an NHS employer, or is it a private care home?
Also, why didn't you apply for the Health Care Worker visa that's cheaper & exempt from IHS? Any reason? Thanks for your anticipated reply.
