These conquered people that have no Ruling House except they belong to Yoruba descendants in name, lingual Franca and God of Okun, Ogun etc that never existed near them, keep on pushing everyday of their life to free themselves from their very existence.

babtoundey:
It is very interesting reading your concurted version of history. "Ogiamen was the king" why Ogiamen? why not Oba has you have it today? What title did Ogiamen take as the Paramount ruler? Oba? yet Oranmiyan had no influence in Bennin? With time, to suit your purpose and sentiment, you will say Oranmiyan never ruled or visited Benin.

There was a system in place before Oranmiyan was there and there were people. The system was obviously not working and that was why he was there. He was not in Bennin to subjugate the people but to establish a political institution similar to what he had in his own settlement. And it thrived.

And you said Oranmiyan didn't rule as king. That it another joke. If he didn't rule as king, as what did he rule? As slave or servant? He didn't rule as king yet only his seeds has right to the throne. He didn't stay long. How do you come by that? He didn't stay long, but he stayed long enough to court and impregnate a woman, long enough to see to it that a child is born, long enough to see that the child is of age, long enough to partially or absolutely (as it suits you) establish a system totally alien to the people.

He came and left with all the people he came with. That is another joke. It's simply impossible and unreasonable of him to have done that.

And can you help do simple breakdown of words like
Olokun
Oba
Olu
Ogun in the context of traditional Benin religion, custom, tradition and language?

Here is the simple analysis I can do to them in Yorubas and prove to you they are veeery Yoruba
Olukun- Olu Okun. just as you have in Oluwa, Oluko, Olurombi, Olosa. Olu is used in reference to a person that own or has authority over something or to simply indicate a person. Oluwa- Olu+ wa (person + us= he that owns us). OLUROMBI - Olu + Ri + oun + bi (person + see+ object+ birth= he/she that gives birth to something). Olokun- Olu +Okun (he/authority + Okun (water body) becomes he that has authority over Okun.

Oba- O (he/she/ authority)+ ba (perches, dominates).
All these terms are as old as yoruba themselves. They have been in use long before Oranmiyan's sojourn to Benin. Why will you someone jusy wake up one morning and claim they are borrowed terms.
Politics › Umaru Dikko Your Prediction Has Come True by googi(op): 7:01pm On Dec 31, 2019
During the time of Shehu Shagari, Nigerians were warned that our rate of prolific spending and senseless import would destroy the country.

Umaru Dikko told us to go to America where poor people eat from garbage. It could never happen in Nigeria.

Akinjide went further and called Awolowo Prophet of Doom.

Nobody would expect this day to come.

They can slash and burn their budget all they want. It is not my palaba.

Go West Young Man Go West

Everyday they come by bus load to touch the kind face of Awolowo.

If they can only be grateful and show appreciation to their benefactors. Noo, na so caurse curse.

Even fellow Igbo are embarrassed.

In the history of Africa after Independence, there is only one Achiever with proven record to back it up as the First In Africa.

Others sell futures, prospects, rosy 5 or 10 year development plans. At the end of the day, they achieved nothing but keep on promising themselves, children and grandchildren.

Abi na lie?

Awolowo dream and Actions (Group) will continue to turn their bad bele for ever while other children are grateful that there was an African they can point to after Independence.
Politics › Why Can't We Accept Minorities As President by googi(op): 3:33pm On Dec 31, 2019
Azikiwe Ebele Jonathan had all the qualities to be the best President, yet he failed so miserably, he single handedly elected Buhari.

Surprise, surprise the Biafran President of Nigeria has been rejected by all sides.

Why, why, why?

We cannot discuss facts as adults anymore without hiding under some nebulous guise?

The first problem here is the health issue. Then come environmental toxic issue with old used electronics.

The consequences mount on the killing of local textile industry, lack of patronage for tailors because of "ready made".

Importation is the number one killer of local progress and industries. Not only of goods and services that can be locally developed and nurtured but of wasted talents.

Unfortunately, Igbo petty traders are at the bottom used by the big boys from all over the country.

As the big boys drain the foreign reserve, they use petty traders to justify money laundering. The same is true of forex.

Who are the billionaires on "round or double tripping" at the major banks? Poor people must stop crying over what benefit them a little on the short run while reducing them to poverty on the long run as the big boys laugh to foreign banks in their names.

Used imported goods, junks and expensive toys will kill this country.

What is your business or just looking for company? Lagosians are not that many and they know one another.

In the days when they refused to mix with outsiders, cousins end up marrying one another.

david102:
I have only met a few Indigenous Lagosian in all of my moving from one house to another in the state. And it is very surprising. A guy I met that is from Lagos, he said the Indigenous poeple speaks a different kind of Yoruba. And claims he is not a Yoruba man. And yet he is from Badagry.
Indigenous Lagosians do you know your history? Or you that claim you are from lagos, your Ancestors might have moved and settled here.

Metaphysical,

I hope it is the culture and legacy of Oba in Yoruba land that you are more concerned about and not this boy-king.

Do not forget that he had disgraced the high office many times before including keeping the Ooni waiting before Ooni could get back to his seat. One of the police escort had to tell him, he was standing in Ooni's way.

Those that knew him in Canada have no regard for him. I do appreciate all you wrote but this guy is not worth your esteemed praise.

Why should she return to Canada? She is an African and a legal resident of Nigeria.

You guys know that some guys, call them deranged or whatever, enjoy other people left over as long as they are called wives. In this case the ex-wife of a Yahoo king.

She may decide to marry another Nigerian. Once they taste a Nigerian, they never move far away. Don't believe all that talk that Jamaican women and Nigerian men hate one another. The fact is they marry one another than other mix marriages.

This is a publicity stunt to imply that he is still alive. For one thing, his close associates including the failed coup against him called him homosexual but that could mean bisexual.

He has many men around him to satisfy his sexual pleasure IF he is still alive.

Bloody killer still consider himself relevant. Buhari just want to watch him die slowly. Each of them will reap what they sow before they die here on Earth.

Stinky news.

Tao11,

You know they are going to open a similar topic tomorrow trying to wear out Awori owners of the land. The hope is that repeated lies told multiple times would stick in some people's mind.

But blame their Yoruba Oba whose father conquered their land. Edo children insist they are renting it out during every coronation of their conquerer, the Oba from Ife.

The book written only in 2003 by this Yoruba Oba after he felt disrespected by his brothers in Ife, with the hope that he would be accepted by the Edo his father conquered has not changed the minds of Edo.

Ogiamen and Ogiso children still want their Independence from IFE and they won Court case to keep their Oba in check.

So these children would do anything to either usurp Oba from Ife ruling their land or Oba of Lagos. All to no avail, poor things.
Politics › Re: $600m Steel Plant Will Be Nigeria’s Highest Non-oil FDI – Gupta by googi: 3:16pm On Dec 26, 2019
It is these types of argument that make many people sour on foreign investments. Total dependency on foreign investments or investors is a mirage.

Only Europe has benefited from such Marshall Plan. But note that Americans saw themselves as an extension of Europe.

The Japanese adapted American technology the same way American stole European technology. Japanese worked on it and perfected their technology to be innovative.

The Chinese became member of World Trade Organization to spite Russia. The rest is history.

The Russians can afford to build nuclear and Space technology cheaper than Americans because they localized the technology.

Compare all these to Africans that never adapt, train locally and buy technology at international retail prices. BTW padded with more going back to foreigners.

Can't you guys see that this is why Africans are getting poorer and poverty map has shifted from Asia to Africa?

Look, if we were crawling without and out of reach or outrageous price of international technology, we would have been better off.

America itself became rich out of free labor and they have not stopped. Indeed, China, Russia apart from Europe have joined the scrabbling for Africa.

They have traitors from within preaching that Africa can only develop by selling both human and natural resources out, through Devaluations.

You guys were the ones preaching the benefits of liberal market and Devaluations to us. Now you are selling prospects that had never been achieved and will not be achieved in your lifetime.

STOP and develop from within for a change. If you cannot invent, steal like America from Europe, steal like Japan and China from America. Buy one plane or tractor, dismantle them and build your own.

You guys are making good points but I think most of you are too bullish on Nigeria's prospects.

Some of us have been hearing these since Independence. The fact is all the Asian countries that were poorer than Nigeria, even without resources, are better off today.

The same people that were painting rosy and El Dorado budgets have run Nigeria into the Poverty capital of the world.

Some of you are preaching the same prospects. We are not holding our breath waiting for Nigeria to become fourth world.

Nothing written here demonstrate Nigeria success. Those children waiting since Independence now have their own children. You want their children children to wait for empty prospects too?

Thank you.

Since 1960 they have been promising, projecting and painting rosy budgets into the future with nothing to show for potential 20 years later.

Look at Ikoyi, VI, FESTAC, all the first generation universities not to mention the Ajaokuta and all the bridges built that have never produced world class engineers.

Why? They import even the pins, nails laborers called foreign experts used for their new projects after abandoning political and military predecessors' projects.

How many countries do you know that called in foreigners to come in and rape their children, mothers and fathers but still expecting the raped country to prosper?

Nevertheless, Rossikk enthusiasm must not die. What are we going to replace it with, hate?

Unfortunately, Nigeria is almost but not yet a dead horse. It will take people like you in the right places of influence and power to effect a change.

There is too much hatred in the land. But please do let distracted entities derail your enthusiasm for our Country.

It is a nice gesture.

Nigerians prefer anything foreign. I agree that the money could have been better spent inside Nigeria.

I hope the workers had a choice on how to spend the allowance or benefit. Some could have preferred down payment on land or house. Others local holidays for their families.

One idea fits all may not be prudent. There may be other motives that benefit the company only.

Military Government

Liberal Market to import all types of junk

Unitary Government

One Nigeria without clause for a region to opt out

More?

This notion that you can only fight back in Democracy is itself nuts.

So IBB and Abacha military governments were democracy.

Keep on waiting for your fathers and grandmothers to fight for you or lead you while you keep and wish for soother vanities in your mouth waiting for God to pick up your calls.

Keep on hating one another with despicable names for your place of birth.
