Thank you bro for the post. Every believer needs to know that the bible interprets itself - using scriptures to explain scriptures rather than using our own "good" to explain "God" idea or using "educated guess" to explain scriptures. In such an instance where we cannot get a text to explain another text, then the context speaks and interprets the word of God to us - No scripture is of "private" interpretation. Our failure to adhere to this simple truth has cause many error in the body of Christ.

Ihedinobi: I have gone this far to explain that some wrong interpretations can come from genuine believers, those who have Christ within them. So, when we try to separate wrong teachings from right, we should be careful of them, because attacking their wrong understanding could result in terrible wounding of the Body. And, let me assure you, my brother, Jesus Christ does not take it easy with anyone, believer or not, who hurts any of His Brethren. I am not speaking things that I merely studied. I am telling you things that have played out in my life. However, the Bible says that we should restore members of the family with gentleness, that those who are strong should cover the weakness of the weak ones and not destroy them with our greater understanding.

I believe I already touched on all these, even if only slightly, at the other thread concerning Russell and Prince. That battle, if I may call it so even though it was quite one-sided, is a very good instance of one Christian tearing up another for the sake of truth. That is something the Lord Jesus treats with great vengeance. He does not brook arrogance of that sort. The instant grace is missing, it is no longer the Truth of Jesus Christ but some very hard weapon to destroy the body with. It no longer corrects, it only harms.

I believe this leads to the question, how do we know those errors that are made by Christians from those that are made by anti-Christ?

I'll deal with that when you indicate understanding and acceptance of all the foregoing. In the event that you have difficulties with any of the foregoing, I will deal with the difficulties before proceeding to deal with that question.

I decided to quote the above part of your write-up because it contains some truth. The only truth I agree to is that of speaking the truth to other believers in love. Off course, there are believers who will teach what is only passed down to them from ages and will never bother to search the word on their own. Many of the false teachings and error are being foretold and we are also being told to defend the truth. How shall be let go when we see some men claiming to be part of us but the pervert or suppress the truth, shall we fold our arms and keep looking? You have said the truth about correcting our brethren in love but also we have to defend the truth that had been proved.

While I also agree with you. I also believe the OP is saying the truth. The qualification and standard for being a MoG is clearly stated in the bible, which is our measuring standard. I am yet to read or hear any scandal about W.F Kumuyi, many others are on a "download".....not to condemn any man though.

Ihedinobi: lolllz..........I get you, sis. However, more than just moving out of this section as a permanent resident, I was encouraging that Christianity become evident in other sections. It does seem that our Christianity is only evident when we open our mouths or start typing and that is a terrible thing. Our whole lives, school, business, career, family, relationships, and whatever else we can think up, are the Lord's letter of love to the nations. They cannot know Him unless they see Him in us. So we might be the ones responsible for their blasphemy. If we express the Lordship of Christ over our lives in other matter than just religious debates, there will be no legitimate occasion for any unbeliever to blasphem. As it is there is ample occasion. That's why the call is to return home and clean up our act.

I have so much to share with my family to encourage and strengthen them. But those things will not make any sense to a person whose Christianity is compartmentalised. Christ has to be the whole sphere or else those things will provoke perhaps confusion, perhaps bitterness in the person who receives them.

I agree with the above 100% and as mentioned before, I have a lot to say about many errors mixed with truth in the body of Christ. How do we know who and who is saying the truth since we all have one scriptural verse to back up our claim? It's very simple - Rightly dividing the word of truth is the answer.

I had also wanted to mention the highlighted in my first comment but thought I can bring them up one after the other. The bible verse that goes with the highlighted above is,

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which [be] the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk [is] unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Heb. 5:12-14 Kjv.

I'm not hanging so much around the religion section anymore though so I'll pursue a discussion only as I see it worth pursuing.

I believe the "fight" against the false church is not that a "fight" per say. But it is a call to ALL true church to "fight" or "contend" for the faith that was handed down to us (Jude 3-4). This is what I really meant by that statement. Anyway, am on the other thread also, interesting thread.

This is a very sensitive issue and we should treat as such. God has raised you and the likes for such a time as this. I pray the Grace of God on you will increase for the good work of the ministry. I am highly interested in this thread and the whatever edifies the body of Christ. The truth is, the bible speaks for itself like frosbel said. However, proving all things and holding unto that which is good is a function of STUDYING the word. Truth is mixed with error due to the following reasons:

1. False men have invaded the church of God as prophesied by our Lord Jesus - everyone in the body of Christ are not working towards same goal and objective anymore. Some are building "the kingdom" while some are building "their kingdom and denomination"

2. The principles of "interpreting the scriptures with scriptures" had been neglected.

3. The scriptures had been grossly taken out of context and given a man made interpretation to suite man made idea. Hence, our good idea had replaced God's idea.

How then shall we know who and who is right since we all speak from the same bible - The key is CONTEXT, INTERPRET SCRIPTURES WITH SCRIPTURES and STUDY which involves checking the length, breath and depth of every scriptures regarding a subject matter. I have more to say but will prefer to unfold more as the thread progresses.

My dear sister, I "guess" you are missing out something - The canonized scriptures is completed by the will of God. Like you rightly said, people are still being inspired today to write and we all know that. However, the canonized scriptures is our measuring standard to all that are inspired today. If we don't have the canonized scriptures, anybody can say whatever they want to say and claim they are inspired.

Thanks for such information. You see, the real issue here is that "some" people are also looking for quick money or shortcuts to wealth. I often get spam emails all the time due to the fact that I often give out my email out here on nairaland only. I get emails asking me into one business or the other after they found my email on nairaland. You know what, I don't even think about those kind of emails twice once I found out it involves any business, money or relationship, I delete them immediately. This is because I understand that they that wants to be rich through cheap/quick means will always fall into all kinds of fraud and temptation.

The OT had being written then. That is why it is called the "inspired" because Paul by the Spirit of God said "ALL" which the Spirit of God knowing other writings will be included with the OT and still be referred to as "ALL SCRIPTURES".

To say that "na only God know who dey serve am true true" is a misleading statement because we don't serve/worship God in lies, heresy, deceit and falsehood.....we serve or worship God is spirit and in TRUTH.
