Do you realize you rom is Chinese rom? The only way out is to unlock the bootloader. Changing to any global rom is actually considered a downgrade. |

GrandMufti: Did you notice that the rn3 pro and special edition both have 'global' at the end of their names? Did u notice that Chinese roms don't have any word 'global' attached to their names? Goodluck with that You are right, after considering the names attached to the rom, its evident there is no global stable rom for rn3 mtk for now but only Chinese rom available. |

40manlappy: Two questions;
-How do I know if my "bootloader" (whatever that is) is either locked or unlocked? I have read a few times on this thread that it has to be done before porting from one ROM to another.
-How do you know if a RN3 is SD (Snapdragon) or MTK version? On my phone, I have "Hexa-core Max1.8 GHz" under CPU. Is that a confirmation of SD/Qualcomm?
cc: GrandMufti, NgcoboP, Kulimart Of course yours is the snapdragon edition, with hexa processor. |

GrandMufti: .
Oga there is no official global stable Rom for mtk. It was made for the Chinese market only. As you can see there is a rom for China Qualcomm but not China mediatek. Don't get confused. Please change your browser to desktop view or use a pc you will see it there. Look at the screen shots and observe the different rom sizes

You don't want to imagine the consequences if a Nigerian or other African company does this in South Africa, maybe another xenophobia will unfold. Please, justice should be served appropriately. |

GrandMufti: There is no official global stable Rom for rn3 mediatek since it's Chinese. You will have to stick with the Chinese rom or use the eu rom. I'm not sure if the sd Kenzo rom will work Says who? There is official global stable rom for all versions of redmi note 3 , even the special edition. You just select your version before download. http://en.miui.com/download-301.html |

GrandMufti: What version of rn3 do you have? You can't use the same rom for fastboot method and updater method. Kenzo for fastboot method and recovery rom for updater. I think its the mtk version, he has gone through something like this before. |

Phones › Re: What You Need To Know About The New Mediatek Helio X20 (deca Core) Processor by Gptech(m): 12:16am On Oct 23, 2016 |
Funny thread, processor to compete with mid range snapdragon 650/652. Its only just slightly faster than s650/652 and people are here celebrating MediaTek as if they just achieved something. I commend Mediatek for upping their game abit but apart from being relatively cheap they really mess up big time when it comes to battery and camera performances. Will pick s650/652 anyday over this, because it is the better chipset overall. |

GrandMufti: No sir. Check the miui forum Ok, will do when chanced, but no need doubting how I ported to developer, because I already did using same process. Might have to port to global just for this experiment though not now. |

ametu166: See what I'm talking about Everything (the font and the miui version) about the screenshot shows its obviously a clone. And you said it runs on MTK chips, right now no MTK chip runs on a clock speed of 2.5ghz as indicated in the screenshot. |

GrandMufti: http://en.miui.com/thread-237290-1-1.html
The bootloader is not locked that is why you could use twrp. But for newer devices, all bootloaders are locked Bootloader should not affect switching from global stable to global developer. Where the issue of bootloader exists is switching from Chinese to global roms. |

Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by Gptech(m): 8:25pm On Oct 22, 2016 |
GrandMufti: Exactly what I said. You were not on global stable. You were on developer rom. Twrp is used to flash roms if you don't want to use fastboot method. Hence it was easy for to just download the rom and use updater app. But crossing over from global stable to developer requires you to flash you phone. You might even need to unlock bootloader Nope, was in global stable rom |

40manlappy: I finally succeeded in creating MI account on my RN3!
Seems an inching closer to porting to Global Stable ROM Congrats in advance. |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by Gptech(m): 8:12pm On Oct 22, 2016 |
GrandMufti: No sir. Porting from stable to developer rom requires you to download a fastboot rom and then use mi flash to flash your phone. If your are already on developer rom, and you want to update, then the method you mentioned is what is used. Am telling you what i did, have never used fastboot. Though you might be correct because I had twrp recovery but lost it after flashing. |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by Gptech(m): 7:19pm On Oct 22, 2016 |
GrandMufti: Even if you decide to port to developer rom, it involves downloading a new rom and wiping your phone. I'd suggest you first update your rom, do a factory reset then if the problem still persists, you can port to developer rom. Porting to developer rom is a bit complicated and there are chances of bricking your phone. You can check the miui forum for steps on how to change rom. Are you sure? Porting is not complicated,I ported same way I updated to miui 8. Just download the rom and place it in a folder named 'downloaded_rom' in the internal memory of your phone. Then update using the updater app. Thats all. |

vosquare: Tell me y I won't buy xiaomi again and over again? My phone fell down last week, I mean, it fell down to the extent that d side was opened, maybe even bent. D screen is out of it cos if fell on a rough surface but u know what?, my phone is still working perfectly I mean PERFECTLY... That's what I call quality... I can't imagine tecno infinix or Samsung phone fall like this... It won't work again I'm very sure, u might even end up buying another but in my own xiaomi case, I just need the screen to beautify the phone completely
Kudos to xiaomi.. This happening just made me love the product, even though I'm not a fan of buying a manufacturer products twice, I think it will change now Xiaomi is rugged, but you are lucky |
