scotweezy: Chai! One of my major issues with the Redmi 3 and family. I just don't get well with non-backlit navigation on phones. I might just end up getting the Redmi Note 3 pro Special version. Don't know why the segregation, well it should be a deliberate market strategy to force you to get the note series. |

Whizpeter: Bro what's the need of cooking stew when you can just eat white rice in peace? It offers more options right?
Having a group on whatsapp won't make this thread become inactive, attending to issues is faster and easier on whatsapp, you get instant replies and solutions cos of its notifications!
How would you feel if you asked a question here and got a reply 12hrs later? That won't happen on whatsapp!!
I've belonged to several groups about phones from Infinix hot note to J7, H6 and others even blackberry!!
Those groups all started from here and they didn't prevent their NL thread from growing!
In case you don't know, the Tecno H6 discussion thread was the most active on NL reaching over 200 pages (You can confirm from Heeboy94) and yet we still had a whatsapp group that was functioning simultaneously!!
It really helped a lot then!!
I personally endorse the whatsapp group..
To others who seriously require instant solution and answers to their xiaomi related issues and won't mind belonging to a whatsapp group, feel free to drop your numbers and pachman would add you in no time!
Gracias! Was expecting this exact reply, am not against the creation of a whatsapp group, but that can be done by creating another thread without causing harm to this thread. You just gave one example of a thread that ran simultaneously with a whatsapp group, but I know of other threads that died because of whatsapp groups. The advantages of creating a whatsapp group as you stated are cool but don't you think the cons outweigh the pros? |

Why the need for a whatsapp group when you already have this thread? There are many intending buyers who view this thread and gain lots of information before making up their minds on what to buy. Also, some persons might have got solutions to problems from this thread relating to their phones without commenting. There's no need to cut others off. |

The official price for thr redmi 4A is $74, while the redmi 4 with finger print and a slightly better hardware overall costs $104 officially. There is also an even better prime version that is pricier. Until you add third parties 'commission don't tap your calculator yet. |

For those buying xiaomi phones hope you are aware there are clones out there too. Not trying to cause panic but you should be careful. Read reviews and buy from trusted sites. If you are not sure we have retailers here on nairaland like Kulimart, Initialize, and Elijahdre. |

GrandMufti: It's too early to start an argument. Take a trip to the miui forum and see for yourself. Even here people have complained of battery drain. Boss heating is caused by bug in roms, not everybody complain of heating. Apart from the xiaomi redmi note 2 and note 3 mtk version, there are good reports on other devices, even the mtk version of redmi note 3 seems better than redmi note 2 with respect to heating and battery drain. |

francis247: Yes o. It’s what you're thinking. Couldn't belive it myself. That’s what kept me away from the phone. You can check Aliexpress and confirm for yourself. Can you post a link? If it doesn't support OTA update then its the rom. If you flash to roms that support OTA then you are good |
Phones › Re: Xiaomi Phones- Why The Cheap Price Tag? by Gptech(m): 9:42pm On Nov 03, 2016 |
francis247: Don't know about you op but the ones I know don't support OTA updates and they run on MIUI8 OS based on Android 6.0.1. They cost between $400 and $450 or more (64GB &128GB versions respectively) which is about 160k t0 180k. So I think the difference is not much Please what do you mean by not support OTA updates? Hope its not what am thinking? |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by Gptech(m): 12:45pm On Nov 03, 2016 |
GrandMufti: Bros forget, those guys are not competent. They only add colors and new fonts and call it update. No attempt to optimise battery or prevent heating. They keep overloading the already heavy miui.
Even the new global stable update 8.0.6.0 drains more battery than 8.0.5.0. And you begin to wonder what's the use of releasing updates. Yes, you are correct, some updates look unnecessary because of what you stand to lose in the long run, but thats the fun, thats why its called developer rom. The instability you experience for either stable or developer roms are not the same for everyone actually, thats why they keep working to make for an even better experience. Take for instance the update that correct issues with trigonometric functions in the calculator app is useless to some persons but very important to me. I am one of those who actually prefer miui updates to upgrade of Android rom (though not trying to defend xiaomi team on that), I have more features running Lollipop than those running Marshmallow and thats what I consider a good essence of updates apart from stability and optimisation. I believe with time after the developers are done adding new features, they will focus on stability. |
