GrandMufti: That's the reason I stay away from dev rom. The thought of reflashing and re-entering numerous app passwords Don't get you, you don't need to do anything special on developer rom, no reflashing and whatsoever. The reflashing I stated is useful for any rom whether global or stable. Sometimes when flashing a rom for the first time, your device might become unstable, and reflashing the rom can fix it. Something similar happened to me when I first flashed miui 8. |

Seriously waterproofing should be considered as a must for phones. I know its expensive to get that done but by the time every manufacturer jumps in the train, it will become cheaper. |

40manlappy: Any idea of how much Mi4 and Mi5 cost? Hmm, concerning mi4, if I really need that device, I could get the 64gig rom version for same price as redmi 3 pro, reason is because its on flash sale. Only con is the lack of 4g. If you don't care about 4g, you might consider it. |

seyema: is redmi 3s(2gb ram version) still worthy of buying since dollar no allow person buy note 3 pro? Of course yes, its a very capable device. If not that I consider 5 inch small, would have grabbed it long ago. For memory, would rather sacrifice 1 sim. |

BuzzRay: I have heard cases of users who unroot before update, but their phone stil got bricked, its scary. Developer roms are great but not free from bugs. I prefer the gobal rom.
Are you rooted? If yes what are the ways you updated without being stuck on bootloop.(i hate updating with Mi flash) Am asking because i don't currently use a miui phone, planning on getting the redmi 2 soon, although i have used redmi 1. I actually updated my rooted phone from miui 7 to miui 8 through the updater app. I only lost root privilege after the update. Since most of the apps I had bought while rooted still works even after losing root access, I see no reason to root for now. After switching to developer rom, I think custom roms( its a major reason for rooting) look useless to me for now. |

Harus: If the thief go to mi account to sign out so that he can erase the data on the phone, it will ask for password. Click "forgot password" and in the process, he'll get to set new password, erase the data on phone. Go to mi cloud and uncheck "find device".
What use is the account ID if the account name and password are changed?
If you follow procedures above, u can do factory reset.. Please try and do a random factory reset on your phone lets see how far you can get. I posted a link on nairaland of someone who tried to do factory reset after selling his Xiaomi max, he couldn't. |

Harus: I just unbox my mi5 on Monday and I discovered that Xiaomi mi account can easily be changed by any intruder. Just go to settings, click on mi account, change username and password easily. Xiaomi no smart on this. It should have asked for answers to security questions before change of password. So if my phone is not yet locked and it got snatched by a thief, the phone is gone forever!
So xiaomi phones users must put "settings" in "app lock" otherwise, phone is temporarily yours. I'm disappointed but finger scanner make it easier. The security feature is far far smarter than you think. First you can't just change a password randomly. Then even if any thief succeeds in changing the password, he has not even scratched anything regarding being tracked. He is all yours if you want to catch him because there's no way he can change the mi account id. As you can see there is an option for security question.
