I smile whenever I see comments such as these. I bet most of you guys having supposed "reservations" are yet to handle the said MTK phones made by Xiaomi. What I do know is Xiaomi devices are well optimized irrespective of SOC.

Well my note 3 MTK that's running Chinese Dev rom has hardly got heating, fingerprint, lagging or battery drain issues for the past couple of months, and yes it can handle anything thrown at it grin
Hahaha, am typing now with the redmi note 2,same socs as yours, though I suspect you use the 32gig version. I never complained of lag, yes my phone is really fast( that's the major reason I bought it though), and I know xiaomi is good in optimization compared to many brands. Am actually surprised that you don't experience battery drain because others using the Helio x10 complain of experience such, and the heating part especially. Right now my phone is at 37 degrees, the lowest, I have seen is 32 degrees and it can easily get over 40. The only rom I haven't tried is Chinese roms but 1 thing is certain, the battery and heating issues have never been good at any time no matter the rom I used, even tried the 'Bule' custom rom that was supposed to be good with battery.

Before I forget the temperature is acting normal now because I just updated some hours back, I know what to expect from tomorrow cry

If itz not much trouble for you can you give us an Hands on review, various reviews online are not encouraging atall.
I will love to know how the battery fares (SOT on heavy usage), the charging time(is it fast charge compatible?), also the camera (Anything unique), lastly how is the build compared to the Redmi Note 3.
I just have my reservation about the MTK SOCs.
Me too, am really suspicious of the mtk socs majorly in the battery department and heat generated, reviews have shown the redmi note 3 performs better, really better than the redmi pro. Also the rn3 seems to be better than the rn4 which uses similar socs (slightly different in clock speed) as the redmi pro. But again would love to see user experience.

There is a "Do not disturb" feature in the settings but what I want is not just a silencs of the notifications but a barring of all calls for sometime while I use the internet data on the phone.

Is there anything like that on RN3? Or does this DND bar all calls?
Okay! Just tried it now, yes you can. You can block either some calls or all calls frm coming in. Go through the dialer and right click, you'll see block list there.

@Gptech, GrandMufti, Ngcobop, Kulimart,

Is there a way that I can set my RN3 not to receive calls for some hours or days but only to use data on the phone?
Have not tried that but you can block some numbers from calling.

Well, have been using parallel space for 2years+ and have never had an issue with it. I guess its function quantity is device specific.

parallel space in my opinion is far from being a bloatware because the ram consumption of its cloned apps is always similar to that of the originals. Hence, remains inconsequential to my device functionality..
Nice, please what's the name of your device?
Phones › Re: Best Smartphone Ui...(user Interface)... by Gptech(m): 8:49am On Oct 26, 2016
celestialAgent:
see the post above.
The parallel space is a great app for cloning apps, though there are some slight issues. Some persons complain of push notifications not working in some apps, force closing of cloned apps, and the high consumption of ram space plus internal memory. Will surely improve with time and updates.
With miui 8 you don't need third party apps to get apps cloned, you get it out of the box. Installing third party apps to do basic things is what is called bloatwares, as they end up slowing your device.

MTK's Helio X20 used on Tecno phantom 6+ edges out slightly the Snapdragon processor used on the Samsung S7 edge.. cool cool
And that's the issue bro, nobody has any problem with the x30 part. Please can you clarify the quoted statement? Please what are you insinuating? undecided

I have read many articles on this subject outside this thread.

The only thing is I see is that you are a bit careless when it comes to reading through simple English.

I said earlier that the many sources I read from say that the Helio X20 beats the Snapdragon 820 slightly ( Check my initial post up ^ there: I used the word "slightly"wink

This was one of the many sources I read.

http://candytech.in/mediatek-helio-x20-vs-snapdragon-820-vs-exynos-8890/
Bro the issue is of being careless about reading should be addressed to you instead grin
You took gold in only 1 out of 10 games in the Olympics and you are claiming champion. Of all the tests its only in the multi-core test the mediatek wins because it has 10 cores as against 4 in the snapdragon, which is very normal. So according to you this is what makes a processor great, multi-core tests. Bros even the Helio x30 might not even beat the snapdragon 820.

Norman4real:
According to this link you gave, the mediatek only has better multi-core performance. in general the 820 is still better.
Leave the guy make he dey help mediatek do fake advert, even mediatek knows they have lots of catching up to do thats why they already started work on the Helio x30 early.

Refer to page 1, actually page 0. See the benchmark tests.
Hmm interesting, have you bothered to check the results in the link with what is comparable on other very credible links? I just really want to believe you know exactly what you are doing, otherwise you should be aware that the mtk x20 cannot achieve 100k in antutu whereas the snapdragon 820 achieves up to 150k.

Mislead? In this age of information?

The facts are there all over the internet and they are sure to surprise you. Go figure.
SMH, please explain the area you can compare mediatek x20 to snapdragon 820,what the mediatek x20 competes with is the midranger snapdragon 652.

No am not rooted, the heating issue reduced bit its not like b4 now on normal usage the phone heats up to 38* unlike the 45* of before.
I guess we have to live with the heat, thats the normal temperature I get with the phone, though slightly cooler than yours, your overclocked processor should be the culprit. The coolest I have observed is 32 degrees Celsius.

MTK's Helio X20 used on Tecno phantom 6+ edges out slightly the Snapdragon processor used on the Samsung S7 edge. So I'm not even a bit surprised with what the benchmark results are confirming.

I just hope that Tecno quickly switches to the Helio X30 in their flagship devices next year.

This X30 chipset is incredibly powerful and tests so far just shows it outsmarts, outmaneuvers and trumps all known Snapdragon chipsets on Samsung. cool cool
Bros where you get that info from? Or are you trying to deliberately mislead us? undecided

Successfully upgraded to developer ROM. But heating issues still persist. I guess I would have to think about formatting the memory. Thanks.
That heating issue, I don't think there is any cure to it, but hope you have rebooted after updating. What I observe is when the heat is much, you can remove the battery for sometime and reinsert it, it has been working for me. grin

Oh not me. Updated to 8 for more than 2 months now and there is not that much about MIUI. Only 2 features impressed me - second space and dual apps. Everything else nah wash. Straight into the bin.

For now, Everything and anything Xiaomi including Miui is a closed chapter for me.
And the phone? Which model and how much are you selling? grin
