The mother of Nigerian football legend, late Sam Okwaraji, has revealed her unhappiness with the federal government after alleging that all her son sacrificed for the country - has been forgotten as she accused the authorities of abandoning the late hero's family. According to Emmanuel Okwuluora Okoh who paid a visit to the home of the late hero, Okwaraji's mother who is said to be sick - was emotional while appreciating them for their generosity.

Sam Okwaraji who died while on international duty for the country on August 12, 1989. Okwaraji slumped and died while playing for the Super Eagles against Angola at the National Stadium, Lagos in FIfa World Cup qualifier that ended 1-0 in favour of Nigeria.

Emmanuel took to Facebook to share details of the visit as he wrote;

I led a team to Sam Okwaraji's home~ His mother cried while appreciating us~ We lost a HERO and forgot him(Nigerian government forgot all my son sacrificed she said)~ I am pushing for his sick mother to be looked after and for Sam to be immortalised. Sam Okwaraji is the most patriotic Nigerian recorded~ May 19th 1964 to August 12th 1989~ The Lawyer~Footballer died playing for Nigeria against Angola.

It's sad that she's struggling, but the guy died almost 30 years ago. Why would anyone expect the federal government to keep sending anyone money over his death till this day? Especially when he died from a heart attack and not due to any negligence on the part of the government.

What we all should be fighting for is a better and effective welfare system for the elderly in Nigeria like they have in normal countries. That way someone can live into old age with dignity and not have to go around begging people for the means to survive.

An alarm has been raised after an unusual item made by a primary school pupil was discovered in Maiduguri, Borno state capital. It was gathered that a gun (rifle) model was made by a primary four student who used rods from classroom chairs for his construction.

The item was recovered from the pupil and confiscated by the school authorities.

The Facebook user who shared the pictures - didn't reveal whether any action was taken against the pupil.

Simi Is In Trouble For Stealing From Me - Prof. Uwaifo

Days after her boyfriend, Adekunle Gold, called out Nollywood for using his songs without consent, legendary musician, Sir Victor Uwaifo, has said singer Simi is in trouble for "stealing" his intellectual property, 'Joromi'.

Professor Uwaifo's recognition soared when his song 'Joromi' became a hit in 1969. However, he says the song has now become a victim of intellectual property theft as Simi failed to give credit to him when she released her own version in 2017.

Uwaifo made this known in an interview with SaharaReporters at the Annual General Meeting of Copyright Society of Nigeria COSON, in Lagos.

The former commissioner for arts and culture in Edo State described copyright and Intellectual property theft as a very serious issue in Nigeria, saying it must be dealt with urgently as it is reducing the creativity of the new generation of musicians.

According to him, the process of making music has now significantly changed from what it used to be in his time, as “more mediocres” are now in the game.

Apart from the name of the song, the composition itself has no similarity at all to Victor Uwaifo’s song. There are no intellectual property rights in song titles. Baba should go and speak to a lawyer first and stop embarrassing himself. This isn’t the first time he’s said this.

While I am not supporting what the IG has done, the legislators have now seen the consequence of their fondness for summoning everyone (no matter how high up) over every trivial issue. He who seeks respect should behave respectfully. A friend of mine's father who is a CEO was summoned by members of the Cross Rivers State House of Assembly over a petition a driver had written to them alleging wrongful termination.

Every little thing they'll summon someone like a child even when the issue is beyond their constitutional authority to investigate and then force the person to spend the whole day there answering questions that could have been asked in a letter.

There was nothing whatsoever wrong with her dress. The length is below her knee. The CBN is a federal building and place of business, not a church or a mosque. If she was a white woman she wouldn't have been challenged at all. The way we treat each other in this country is appalling. Whether or not her appearance was proper business attire for the meeting should have been determined by the person she was meeting with. If he (or she) did not think her appearance was professional enough then that would, of course, affect how well the woman's proposal would be considered. That should have been the end of it. Many people commenting in this post that the woman's dressing was not proper would, in another post, lament about how Nigerian business and governance practices fall short of western standards. Yet they continue to harbour these patriarchal and backward views over a woman's rights over her own body and how she presents herself. They should know that, with that mindset, we will never grow beyond being a big fish in a little pond and the rest of the world will continue to see us as villagers in the context of the global community. My 2 cents.
