By John Owen Nwachukw

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has come under scrutiny over its alleged failure to arrest former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, wondered why Tinubu has been allowed to move freely despite alleged corruption cases against him while Willie Obiano, who just finished his eight years tenure as the Governor of Anambra State on Thursday was arrested immediately.

As DAILY POST reported, Obiano was arrested at the Lagos International Airport on Thursday a few hours after he officially handed over to Prof. Charles Soludo and was heading out of the country.

Speaking with BBC Pidgin, the Public Relations Officer of EFCC Wilson Uwajaren, said Obiano had been on the watchlist of the Commission prior to the transition on Thursday.

And Omokri is surprised that the EFCC is not after Tinubu, who served as Lagos State Governor for eight years.

“Compared to Bola Tinubu, Obiano is a saint. Compared to Oluremi Tinubu, Ebele is a choir mistress,” the former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan tweeted.

“Why has EFCC left Bola Tinubu, with his humongous corruption, and gone after Obiano?

“Nigerians let us not allow ourselves be distracted by this drama! We need equity!”

The position of the Supreme Court in this kind of case was stated in Attorney General of the Federation V. Abubakar (2007) 10 NWLR (part 1041) 1. At page 124 of the report, Justice Onnoghen set down the position thus:

“There is nowhere in the 1999 Constitution where it is stated that the President or Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall be removed or is removable from that office if he defects from the political party on whose platform he was elected to that office and joins another political party.”

According to Justice Onnoghen

It is the constitutional responsibility of the legislature to make or amend the laws including the constitution, where the need arises, while that of the judiciary remains to interpret and apply the laws so made or amended. The courts can therefore not add or subtract from the law as enacted by the legislature under the guise of judicial interpretation of the constitution or statute…”

There's an African saying that if you wake up in the morning and a fowl began chasing you, RUN!

Run for your life because you don't know if perhaps, the fowl grew teeth overnight.

Aregbefufu has committed a great sacriledge for daring to run where angels won't dare thread, he has farted at the altar. He don shit for church. And it's all because he bared him his mind on some issues which had been cooking in his stomach for many years.

He took an unmitigated swipe at tinubu, the jagaban! The ooosa! The emperor of Lagos! The god of Yoruba politics! A man 10x greater than Awolowo! If Awolowo were to be alive today, tinubu would have since defanged, derived and demphasized all awolowos achievements, and confined him to the corner dustbin, just like he did Afenifere and it's white haired elders, in order to make way for his political dynasty to reign supreme.

The jagaban became so powerful, the likes of PA Adebanjo (his former godfather), must come to him grovelling to eat a piece of the cake. And even when he tinubu gives the cake, he does so machiavelianlly.

There's no medal if you say tinubu is the richest Ex-governor in subsaharan Africa. He has spread his tentacles on account of his riches to other African countries where he helps rig elections in return for political and economic patronage.

To the topic itself. Aregbefufu, is obviously not acting alone.
He is backed and goaded by very powerful individuals who would give their lives to stop a tinubu presidency.

Remember his wife remi was on TV some time ago, lamenting how her husband was dumped after helping buhari to power. After that open accusation, we saw buhari and his goons begin to accord tinubu a semblance of relationship in order to fool him, his wife and street urchins. But we knew better!

My advice is for tinubu to either keep quiet in the face of personal attacks and provocation by aregbe, who even mocked him with urinary incontinence, or send emmisaries to BEG aregbefufu.

Aregbe was one of tinubus inner caucus. Very close. He knows his in and out. He surely has a dossier of Tinubu's misdeamenors and malfeasance and would not hesitate to use them against him now if the insults from Tinubu's men got too much.

TINUBU should therefore rein in his minions and hatchet men both online and offline because, he who lives in glass house don't throw stones.

Failure to do this might see him returning to the dock to answer fresh charges on corruption with a preconceived outcome, which is JAIL!

Osinbanjo that would hitherto come to his rescues with his "academic froffesor" technology is no longer in his camp, and that one too is ready to lend his weight, though feather weight, to Tinubu's traducers.

A Yoruba saying goes thus; eni ti a fe sun je, otun fi epo para. (Somebody we are planning to roast and eat, smeared himself with palm oil)

Tinubu must not play into the hands of his enemies.

A word is enough for the PEE-POO's president!
For your mind you are making sense. Before you were born, Tinubu has seen worst betrayals, if in doubt, ask your elders question instead of coming here to counsel who your custodians adore. Be careful

They are, no doubt about it, but the question is, can they get it?

The answer is no.

The calculation doesn’t favor them.

If APC gives it’s ticket to a Yoruba man, then PDP will give there’s to a northerner and with northern votes and the votes of Southsouth and Southeast, PDP will have a landslide victory.

The only way to break this is for APC to give it’s ticket to somebody from Southeast or Southsouth and try to get the buy in of Tinubu.

If Tinubu supports somebody like OUK or Umahi, then APC can be assured Southeast, Southsouth( to an extent) and Southwest votes. Add that to the positive sentiment that APC has in the north and they will be closer to victory.

Anything aside this is suicide for APC. The numbers are not there.

One of the most reoccurring bargaining chip for Tinubu proponents is the fact that he was instrumental to Buhari’s victory in 2015. Rarely do they talk about his capacity and integrity. I guess because they know he is bereft of those.

Now, as the 2023 elections hits top gear with pressure on president Buhari to repay Tinubu’s goodwill, it behoves on Buhari to choose between loyalty to Tinubu and loyalty to Nigeria.

Should Buhari hand over Nigeria to a criminal because the criminal helped him win elections?

Or would Buhari go for a person with proven integrity and capacity to deliver Nigeria out of the dungeon it finds itself.

So which loyalty do you think is more compelling on Buhari?
Unfortunately, your likes don't vote because you don't have voters card let alone able to locate your polling station on election day.

PoliticsRe: Are You For Or Against Direct Primaries? by gr8ofnnetwork(m): 9:19am On Nov 30, 2021
Penguin2:
After the general public pressured the NASS to allow Electronic Transmission of Election Results without INEC having to recourse to any other agency, they seemed to try to get back at us by inserting a controversial provision in the proposed New Electoral Act.

The new provision is that every political party in Nigeria must produce its candidates for elections through Direct Primaries without provision for alternative.

The most vocal opponents of this provision seem to be elected governors across party lines, though they are not alone as there are other political stakeholders that are also not in support of Direct Primaries.

Again political parties are also fiercely against the new provision; arguing that political parties do not have good party register that adequately captured members of their parties and as such, they cannot determine when a number from a certain ward exceeds what it should be since there is no record in the first place.

On the other hand, the provision seems to have its major proponents in National Assembly members in both chambers.

Opponents of the provision argue that it is cumbersome, bulky, expensive, etc.

While the proponents are arguing that it is good for the masses as the provision will return power to the people unlike Indirect Primaries where money bags buy up the delegates which they influenced their election in the first place anyway.

Between these two is INEC, which the makers of the law have vested with the responsibility to supervise these primaries in all polling units. Even though INEC seems to be maintaining a calculated neutrality so it won’t paint a picture of aligning with a certain political interest, it is obvious that INEC has some reservations for the provision too. Since the argument began, INEC has stated in many fora that Direct Primaries would increase the cost of our elections if it must monitor it. Most recently, INEC chairman was quoted to have said that the commission would be needing 17,000 staff to be able to monitor the direct primary one political party alone.

Then lastly there is us. The people whom the provision is supposedly meant to favour. What do we want?

To me, as much as Direct Primaries seems like the best way to go on paper, I think it is fraught with a lot of its own shortcomings that make me not think it would be a better alternative to Indirect Primaries.

Let’s consider some instances of direct primaries in the past to get a better picture of what we are talking about.

In 2019, the NWC of APC approved Direct Primaries for Lagos State with the major candidates being Babajide Sanwolu and the then incumbent governor Akinwunmi Ambode. In the end of the primary elections, Sanwolu reportedly garnered 970,850 votes to defeat Ambode who was said to have garnered 72,901 votes. However, in the main election, same Sanwolu merely garnered 739,445 votes. One is now forced to ask if there was larger voter turnout during APC primaries than the general elections.

Another instance we will consider is Anambra where the candidate of the APC in the past election is said to have won the primaries with over 200,000 votes but struggled with a little above 46,000 votes in the main election. And you ask yourself where are the remaining people who voted for him at the primary elections?

Worthy of note however, is that in these two primaries, the officials meant to supervise the congress tend have reservations with the result of the primaries. In October 2018, Vanguard Newspaper reported how the electoral officials sent from APC national headquarters to monitor the APC primaries disagreed with the result of the primaries but we all know who was APC chairman then and how he can’t go against a certain interest.

Again in Anambra, both the other contestants in primary election, party stakeholders and even party members are still contending that election did not take place with some contending that as late as 6pm, electoral officials were nowhere to be seen in their ward only for Governor Dapo Abiodun led party primary panel to endorse the numbers that were manufactured as result.

So these instances can adequately lay bare my view that Direct Primaries seems to have even more tendency of irregularities than what we have with Indirect Primaries.

As such, I conclude with saying that I am against Direct Primaries as political parties in Nigeria are not yet ready for such exercise and because it will be more chaotic and might not deliver the result it is intended to.

Well, that’s my opinion, what’s yours?

When you see the Southern governors, politicians, elders, elites, traditional rulers, cashivists, freedom fighters fighting for their private pockets & their hate doped retards on social media especially those from the Niger Delta talk about restructuring & resource control, you will think they genuinely love Nigeria & their region.
Sure No!
What they want is more money, more power & more control over the money without no one querying them.
Those governors, politicians, elders, elites, traditional rulers, cashivists & freedom fighters fighting for their private pockets that swallowed the 6 trillion naira in NDDC over the past 18 years meant to develop the Niger Delta in addition to squandering trillions of naira & billions of dollars that accrued to Niger Delta from federal statutory allocations, 13% derivation funds, ecological funds, Ministry of Niger Delta funds, taxes, royalties rents etc with only poverty, deprivation & backwardness to show for it every 4 years are the same governors, politicians, elders, elites, cashivists & freedom fighters fighting for their private pockets that will manage a restructured Niger Delta controlling all the resources there.
If they truly want restructuring, they would have welcomed & implemented by now Buhari's executive orders granting financial autonomy to local governments, state houses of assembly & state judiciaries instead of rejecting it & going to court to challenge the orders.
Those that are fighting for restructuring don't want independent local governments, state houses of assemby & state judiciaries because these are arms & organs of government, that if truly independent, will effectively check the excesses of the state governors & those embezzling the resources of the states in the region.
Those governors, politicians, elders, elites, traditional rulers, cashivists & freedom fighters fighting for their private pockets that want resource control are not ready to invest the billions of naira & dollars they stole from Nigeria & Niger Delta in prospecting for oil & building the massive oil infrastructures required to explore, manage, store & transport crude oil & gas.
That's why at the expiration of the oil leases held by some Nigerians & foreign companies, Buhari refused to renew them but rather passed the opportunity to own them to states so that they can control the resources & use the huge profits to better the lot of citizens of their states.
Many states in the Niger Delta & their governors, politicians, elites, elders, cashivists, freedom fighters fighting for their private pockets rejected the opportunity because it involves huge investments & rather opted to sell this opportunity of thier states owning these oil blocks to private individuals & firms for immediate cash from 10% commisions, kickbacks & convenient taxes.
They don't want the restructuring & resources control that will give the states more responsibilities, that will benefit their people or promote transparency, growth & development in their region. What they want is the restructuring that will give them more powers, more control & more money to squander.
That's why they talk about devolution of powers to states that will allow the governors absolute powers to make decisions on a lot more wide range of portfolios presently under the purview of the federal government.
That's why they are appropriating to themselves through their zombified state assemblies the powers to collect all taxes in their states including VAT.
That's why they are rejecting financial autonomy to local governments, state assemblies & state judiciary so that they can have the additional local government billions of naira to squander, pass any selfish law they want & obtain any court order they want against their opponents while eliminating scrutiny from the same institutions constitutionally empowered to query & sanction them.
That's why they are bent on having state police to intimidate, brutalize & put away any opponent or dissenting voice.
Sadly, the citizens of these states have their brains & minds so wickedly twisted by the ethno-religious hate opium they are doped daily & can no more comprehend who their enemies are.
A pathetic shame indeed!!
