At a country-club party a young stockbroker was introduced to an attractive girl. Immediately he began paying her court and flattering her outrageously. The girl liked the young man, but she was taken a bit aback by his fast and ardent pitch. She was amazed when after 30 minutes he seriously proposed marriage. "Look," she said. "We only met a half hour ago. How can you be so sure? We know nothing about each other." "You're wrong," the young stockbroker declared. "For the past 5 years I've been working in the brokerage firm where your father has his account."

@ AKTopgun,
Both your assumptions are in order. I asked for insight some weeks ago on CICO stocks and was told to go into footwear by the amiable and everly respected WindyWendy. As She talk footwear, na im cold catch me. My Liver no strong like that, na im I com look, see as conoil dey dance follow other petroleum stocks wey get beautiful gait, na im I approach the conoil, grab am come make am my own. In retrospect, I For listen to Wendy ooooooooooooooo!! ( e be like say She get crystal ball wey no dey fail).
So much for 20-20 hindsight.
All said and done, I still dey tempted to wait am out till end of the week and if e too fall, maybe obtain more kilos, or dump am go buy Universal Insurance ( 16billion units notwithstanding, e no fit bad reach Conoil).

This ACEN ins. sef, them still dey exist? As I come see people still dey trade the thing na im I come dey baffled.

Oga Topgun,
Always good to see your posts. If that scenario plays out, then your brother is going to fry. However, panick selling might not be a good idea as the scenario I painted i.e. a price reversal being imminent might also obtain and one could make some good margin. That said, the risks are quite high and could cause a lot of panic for the faint-hearted. This is my opinion.
What are your views on this stock?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by grabdbull: 1:39pm On Mar 10, 2008
For three Market days consecutively, I have watched my Conoil bleed profusely. True the bears are here, but I believe this is one stock that still has a lot of steam in it. Once the profit takers finish doing their damage, there is only one way to go: Maiduguri.

@ Invisible,
ATM machines are now ubiquituous in Nigeria and Wanajo mentioned the Companies running the show.
As for NSL, they have no affiliation to ATM operations and are fully into sports lottery. My little Contribution.

It is well established and has been indicated by the gurus and gugurus that the fundamentals are very important in deciding what stocks to buy or sell. This said, let us consider AP - The fundamentals are all wrong, and speculating in this stock is akin to commiting suicide; this notwithstanding, if the PO is meant to give leverage to people who want to own controlling shares in the Company, I will not be surprised if the bidding war gains more momentum and culminates in even higher prices for the shares of the Company.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by grabdbull: 3:11pm On Feb 18, 2008
In this era of Mad Bull Disease causing a serious unjustifiable and inexplicable bull run, POs no longer look attractive. If Dangote Flour becomes available, methinks I'm jumping in immediately. What's ur take on this?
BusinessRe: Be careful with ATMs! by grabdbull: 3:08pm On Feb 18, 2008
I just got a text indicating that my account has been credited with the N20,000 that hooked initially. Am I happy about this? The answer is a definite NO. I am more relieved than happy, and strongly believe all these guys that provide services should be made accountable for their actions and inactions. Wouldn't it be nice to sue the pr, ks for inconvinience?
BusinessRe: Be careful with ATMs! by grabdbull: 2:22pm On Feb 18, 2008
In addition my brother, join me in sending a complaint to C.B.N. ( I don't know how) as this might make some of these guys sit up.
BusinessRe: Be careful with ATMs! by grabdbull: 4:43pm On Feb 17, 2008
The issue on ground now is - How do we stop this ugly trend from continuing unabated? Who do we escalate the matter to, and how do we get in touch with the regulators? If one's cash gets stuck in this evil cycle, it not only destabilizes you, but also can cause undue embarassment (cos U might start looking for loans from friends to meet up with commitments) or even loss of confidence from clients.
BusinessRe: Be careful with ATMs! by grabdbull: 3:13pm On Feb 15, 2008
The ATM issue is real and the Banks feel they do not owe Customers any apology. I was sent some money earlier in the week by a Customer who needed goods from my Company. I went to Diamond Bank and the ATM machine was unavailable, so I moved on to UBA to withdraw money from my Diamond bank account. Lo and Behold, na so N20k take hang. At UBA, I was asked to go to my Bank. This I promptly did and was told to wait for 24 hours after which I then filled a Complaint form. The very annoying thing is that I was informed the money might get back to my account within a week at the earliest if I am lucky.
What could I do with the customer than to look for N20k to add to his remaining funds and sent the goods to him.
I think this ATM thing is a scam, just like most other bank services these days.
PoliticsRe: Nigerians To Pay More For Electricity by grabdbull: 6:53pm On Feb 14, 2008
Even if we pay more for electricity, let it be available first, and secondly, it's about time PHCN stopped this estimate billing. Either they come and read the damn meter or they give us pre-paid meters.

Music/RadioRe: Banned Music By NBC: Right Or Wrong? by grabdbull: 6:46pm On Feb 14, 2008
Banning songs only make them more popular. I remember a few years ago when kerewa was banned, it became so popular that for some reason, the commission unbanned it. What's up with the banning if you are still going to unban?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by grabdbull: 6:36pm On Feb 14, 2008
This thread seems to be the fastest growing in any Nigerian chat forum, meaning interest in the current bull run in the NSE keeps rising. The issue is this: whatever it is that drives price appreciation in the stock market, it is incumbent on us to take full advantage before the bears start coming home, and even when they do, let's take more advantage of the impending bear run which is inevitable. Goodness! People are posting unbelievable figures in earnings, it might even be worth it to take a loan at 30% interest rate.
