Different countries.. Different procedures.
We can't choose the ideal destination for you, we can however tell you the little we know about registration in the above countries and then you can narrow it down and pick the perfect place.

I already provided information about registration in Usa, cgfns, ielts etc. She can do this alone with the steps provided on this thread

For Canada, she will need to pass ielts with a band score of at least 7 in all the modules first after which she will register with nnas. Nnas is just like cgfns. They will verify her documents before sending them to the board of nursing in her chosen province.

For UK, the details is provided in page 1. @gratefulme where art thou?

For Australia, @wellendowed has provided the information in Page 3 of the thread.

Wes is accepted in both usa and Canada but i will advise she goes through cgfns for usa and nnas for Canada.

Pls am sorry for bothering u o, the cbt, my mom was telling me thats its very hard cos many of her colleagues have written it for years and have failed woefully. Pls am curious to know if its as difficult as she has stated. Pls help me. Thanks in advance

Her biggest hurdle to cross is IELTs. Getting the required score can be challenging. I am sure that's what her colleagues have been unable to pass not cbt.

hello pls my mum is a nurse and a midwife with
20 years experience and wants to move to any
available country. She's 53 years old this year,
pls what's the age limit for us, uk and scotland

I am not aware of any age limit for registering with NMC, UK. I cannot speak for other countries as I don't have that much information.

To practice in any country, she needs to register with the board of nursing in that country. For Uk, NMC is responsible for registration and licensure. But, being an oversea trained nurse, she needs to write an English proficiency exam. In this case, the acceptable one is IELTS. She also needs to score the required mark before she can be eligible to apply for registeration.

I hope this helps.

You can Google this up to get the fine details.

How do I start, from where and when

Google NMC UK and go to 'joining the register link', go to 'trained outside Uk, EU and EEA', follow the link to see the step by step details.

But basically, you need to do a test of english and the required one is International,English Language Testing System,(IETLS), the acceptable score is a minimum of 7 in all the parts with an average band of 7.

After this stage, you proceed to do a computer based theory test (CBT), i understand there are centres in Nigeria where CBT is done. I think Barbiee knows about them centres. if you pass CBT, you can get a visa to come over to do your OSCE. OSCE is the last stage.

About when to start....start today/tomorrow if you can.

IELTs registration is done online. You can also pay online but i dont think you will be able to pay with your naija atm card. You can raise a draft in the bank for the payment

i did not subscribe to any.
Just go to youtube
type ielts listening practice in the search button (you can also do same with speaking so you see a couple of speaking samples).....loads of test samples will pop up
Play and practice with them
Most of them have answers at the end of each listening, so you can mark and score yourself

Hi there, we met on the ielts forum. I requested for study materials.. Pls share with us some tips on aceing the exam. Your scores were really impressive for first attempt. Thanks

It wasnt my first attempt my sister although i consistently passed the other parts except reading. I only learnt something new which i presumed made a difference.
. When you are doing the reading, read the questions first before reading the passage. That way, you know what to look out for in the passage

.the answers come in a sequential order. If the answer to no 1 is in paragraph A, the answer to no 2 would most likely be in paragraph B. So, dont go back and forth looking for answers

Thirdly, i know loads of tips say dont read the passage, rather scan or skim to find the answers. However, i am of the opinion that you should do a very quick read because the questions are really paraphrased, so you might miss the paragraph with the answer or never find it all because its been so paraphrased so you need to get the idea being communicated in the paasage to be able to answer correctly.

In listening, just do lots of practice. There are uncountable practice tests with answers on youtube. You would so get used to it that you will literally answer the listening part without listening. Had 8.5 2x in listening.

When it comes to writing, spend time and learn how to do an academic writing. The use of linking words and how to put your opinion down.

As per speaking, just keep talking. Dont worry if the examiner interrupts you. They just wanna know that you can hold a conversation in English, besides, they are timing you. So, once the timr limit for a particular question elapses, they will interrupt and ask another question. Try not to speak too fast. Try not to give responses that seem crammed. Take time to think before talking. Use expressions like hmm, erm but not excessively. Try and stay relaxed. The examiner is a human being. I find myself laughing and chatting with them. I had 8 once and 7.5.

Over all, practice, practice, practice. I learnt to get comfortable with the time especially the reading. I practiced till i could finish each reading passage and answer the questions in about 17 minutes, so i finish the reading part in about 50minutes and have about 10minutes to quickly go over it.

Write and pass academic ielts with an over all band of 7 with a minimum of 7 in each part. Once you cross this hurdle, the other steps are a bit easier.
