Car TalkRe: Removing Thermostat In A Car... What Is The Idea by greatbrian(op): 9:01pm On Feb 10, 2020
adanny01:
Let me start by A human body temp analogy.

A normal body temp of a human is around 37°c. 38°c and above is considered fever and 35°c and below is considered hypothermia.

This means the normal human should have a temp range of 35-38°c.

This same condition exist with an engine. An engine operates optimally at a temp in the range of 88-98°c.

Car manufacturers then created 2 equipment to control the engine temp within the range. The lower range is controlled by the thermostat while the upper limit is controlled by the cooling fans and radiator. The thermostat is designed to stop the cooling system from working if engine temp is below 88°c while the cooling fan is designed to start cooling once the temp is at 98°c.

This will keep all systems of the car in their top working form in any type of weather. It is essential to note that an engine running below 88 or above 98°c will experience rapid wear and tear of moving engine parts in the long run and a poor mileage in the short run.

Kazeems remove thermostat and connect fans directly. This is deleting the optimum temperature range of the car. This range becomes low then were and tear sets in. The engine eats its self in bigger bites from the day of the modification.
Now this is very explanatory.........

Would you compare its fuel economy with Corolla?
Have never used a corolla but I believe its not about competition its about using a car that serves you well. Audi is rugged, classy and elegant. Its an underdog like I said. Have used Honda, Lexus IS250, and few more. Hv also used a 2012 C300 and currently now am Audi is giving some Overheating issue so am using a Matrix 2013 I bought last week till the Audi issue is rectified. Buy I can tell you I will still pick the Audi over this cars. Its a machine

The water or coolant can leak behind the engine block...where you have the coolant temperature sensor.. there's a perishable seal there.... Does it run out of coolant?
Yeah smfin like that. The thing is when I left Lagos for Kaduna that day I overspend like over 170km/hr. When I reached toll gate in Ibadan I realised it was flashing coolant light on the sensor board.

If only its that easy. Have spent over 10k on it. Bought water collector twice. Dz 20k. Now the mechanic said he will check water pump. The worst part is I can't go a kilometer without putting water and I realised its leaking somewhere. I dropped it with the mechanic already till he can fix it. I acquired. 2013 matrix last Saturday pending when it will function. I didn't put number on the matrix so I can resell as tokunboh

Honda Accord 2000 Model (baby boy)
Bought it in 2008 and used it till 2015.
Beautiful ride, smooth on the road.
During the 7yrs period, I changed gear box once and the ball joint pulled twice. But that aside, the Car served me Wella. I had lots of good memories with the car. Like it appears in my wedding pictures. My first child went to school for the first time in it .(I still have the pix). I used it to bring my first child home from the hospital after birth(have the pix also).
I sold it because I needed to upgrade my car status wink. Else car was still running smooth.
Wow. That car is family bro... My mums first crush is still at home one TERCEL. She no drive am again but she kept telling me how that car brought my eldest sister home from the hospital after delivery ND how the car was her bestie at a time.... Talking of her treasured inheritance, the car fights for the top alongside families.... The car is family to her
Car TalkRemoving Thermostat In A Car... What Is The Idea by greatbrian(op): 11:33am On Feb 09, 2020
Most car owners one-way or the other would have come across mechanics talking about removing the thermostat.

I was naive to it until a new car I got Had issues this month and my mechanic was like I should remove the thermostat saying its the culprit of the over heating. I tried asking why and he said the weather abroad is cold that's why thermostats is put in cars coming in and our weather here is hot. Though I told him not to remove it since the technology that brough about making cars brought about adding the thermostats. Afterwards, I decided checking all the cars in my compound and I realised the thermostats is missing all thanks to Our Kareem.

The question is have anyone encountered this and what is the thermostats majorly for in more educated environment.

is your mechanic a kazeem or a good technician.
Kareem. I lost it for the technician I met when my mums car had issues. He diagnosed sending told us it's the engine seat and we spent alot changing that. Nfin changed afterwards so we used the family Kareem who sorted it with just 2000. The family Kareem stays in the southwest and am upnorth

Funny thing is the car had so much effect on me. Till now I can't drive automatic. I just dislike it. Even when I handle an automatic car I change the Gear to S nd drive the manual way.

Nfin sweets me than changing the gear at will to match my mood grin
