ogtavia: last year after NYSC,a friend of mine came over when she left her PPA and came to stay with me cos she was looking for a job in the state where I lived...in fact, I had a female friend to pair her with but she refused saying she would only be comfortable staying with me...so she stayed a little over a month...I am team #nosexbeforemarriage so it never even crossed my mind that anything would happen...initially we had no issues but along the line she became a real pain in the A and became so annoying...she picked up anything I said and started a quarrel with it wherein she insulted me and I kept quiet...bear in mind, she was the first person I met when I got into UNI,my buddy from secondary school was her family friend so he introduced her to me,when I came to know her in school initially she showed glimpses of aggressiveness but I thought she was only being playful.... well, she had a sister in that same town but refused to stay with her...anything I said made her angry...I cooked, cleaned, washed while she watched movie, ate and slept..i would go to work, come back and still cook...during the rare occasions where she cooked or cleaned,i knew an insult session was coming....she is my agemate,i nearly asked her to leave but couldn't,..on a good day she is really nice but on those terrible days...she becomes a monster.....we slept on the same bed since I lived in a studio apartment....but a time came when she on her own decided to sleep on the couch and sometimes lay a mattress on the floor and slept....finally finally she announced she was leaving and I was so relieved....till today most of my friends never believe I had nothing intimate to with her....i had no lady in my life then,i didn't know about her....she is pretty, great figure and all that, but I just wasn't attracted to her and if I ever was, I never would act on it...there was a time I travelled and post poned my return but forgot to tell her, when I came in at night, she was soo madd but didn't say a word,i noticed so I kept quiet ,she had cooked so while eating I playfully her asked why she didn't even call to ask me how my trip had been and when I would finally return ... even though we spoke while I was away and she even mailed me a document I forgot....she really exploded....she said many things, one thing she said that shocked me was when she asked me why I expected her to call when she wasn't my girlfriend or sexually attracted to me,i could only keep quiet and stare at her....when she was done,i quietly said sorry,...a short while after that, she left...... you have now known why most marriages are not smooth sailing, i have co~habited with three different ladies right from school, all ended pretty much like your own but i de knack akpako o. |

Ioannes: Thanks.
Now here's the problem. And I think it's the fundamental issue underlying this constant spate of violence.
Fulani nomadic herdsmen roam their cattle not only because they are looking for green grass, but more significantly because it is a way of life, a very important one for them.
It was a practise of necessity and survival, now I suspect it has become a cultural norm.
Asking them to abandon that way of life is going to be tough. Humans abhor change.
They could be asked to limit their grazing to their states, but that would negate the freedom of movement and rights to live and do business in other states as guaranteed by law.
Hence a grazing corridor could be established that would lead them from one ranch to another spread all over the nation so their cattle can have pasture even in dry season.
We can't always copy what we see in the west.
Nigeria is a peculiar country with a peculiar mess (also known as penkelemes), so our solution can't be expected to be cut and dried and imported from the US. other nations forced their nomadic tubes to settle and it's the best for every body, there's no way you can set up ranches for nomads since the ranches would collapse without a private ownership to maintain it.also settled life means education for their children, more security from cattle rustlers and ability to monitor the herdsmen since they can't commit a crime and disappear the next minute.nomadism is dying lifestyle, we must adapt to the times.there are also other problems involved. |

I can say all of the close friends I have up till this moment end up betraying my trust and hurting me. I don't even want to talk of girlfriend/boyfriend because we all know about that already. Please what do you think? Could it be my fault? At the end of all this, I always feel hurt and feel like I'm too sensitive to be a man. I'm 25. Did Jonathan consult senate b4 deploying troop to Mali in 2013? it was as unconstitutional aa buhari overthrowing a democratically elected president but two wrongs can't make a right, the constitution must be followed, that's my final take on this. |

(5) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (4) of this section, the President, in consultation with the Nigeria Defence Council, may deploy members of the armed forces of the Federation on a limited combat duty outside Nigeria if he is satisfied that the national security is under imminent threat or danger;
The president only exercised his powers under the above section of the constitution. Beside, did Jonathan consult the Senate before deploying troops to northern Mali in 2013? Nigeria's national security is not under immediate threat or danger. |

Ioannes: Since I'm new to this can you pls enlighten me what the difference is between a ranch and a grazing reserve in this regard. a ranch is a plot of land often fenced with barbed wire where the cattle are permanently kept. grasses and crops like maize are planted for feeding the animals. it's the most productive form of animal production while grazing reserves means that land is reserved all over the country and cattle move all over the country to graze at those places, in other words,it's a normadic form. the truth is all over the world, normadism have or is been banned, for example in the USA, due to constant clashes between normadic cowboys and farmers, the government banned normadic grazing and ordered that all cowboys should own a ranch, that's exactly what we are demanding in Nigeria.that Fulani herdsmen should rear their cattle inside ranches, probable fenced with barbwire like other tribes, we have ranches here in anambra and people live peacefully with each despite the huge amount of cows contained in this ranches. it also makes it easy to adopt modern means of management.farmers also keep cattle in fenced plots in the north, i even know an igbo trader in Niger state that is into it while living peacefully with his neighbors. I'll explain more later in response to any of your questions. |

Ioannes: I won't argue forage diversity in Nigeria with you because that's not the point of discussion here.
You may have lots of different species of grass yet not have quality grass.
If the FG feels that importing a particular genetically modified grass will increase the yield of cattle and milk, then it won't be a bad idea.
Oh and need I remind you that's there a number of reasons why grass may be modified among which is the fact that it may actually outlive ordinary grass in the time of drought.
Continued importation of such will not make any sense though, but I'm sure the importation is for cultivation here in Nigeria. you need a ranch to successfully plant and manage any pasture, unfortunately buhari have rejected ranches and preferred grazing reserves. the current crises in southern kaduna was caused by the designation of villages as grazing reserves. Fulani herdsmen should buy land and settle in ranches maybe with state government assistance. here in anambra,we have ranches and you're free to plant any grass of your choice, be it foreign, exotic, genetically engineered or whatever. |

We call here Nigeria's foremost public forum.. and some of the comments one reads here on a daily basis from "Tribalism" to "Uneducated" comments etc truly show that there's little or no hope for the future of this country.
I just wish Seun as well as "others" could checkmate some of these "useless" comments because if we have to tell ourselves the truth.... NAIRALAND is loosing every bit of relevance!!!

nonsobaba: What i don't understand is why those innocent youths in anam were arrested by the police immediately the two fulani terrorists camped in their communities went missing but not a single fulani terrorist who have openly boasted of committing genocide in southern kaduna has been arrested! The useless, brain-dead terrorist-in-chief in Aso rock should continue the only thing he knows how to do. His own end will be more painful than that of his victims been killed across the country. the arrested youths(if true) are likely innocent passersby, the Nigerian police are fond of doing that and clearly they don't have any reliable information on the missing people. the farmers too should avoid killing of trespassing herdsmen even though they might be frustrated over the unwillingness of the police to prosecute erring herdsmen as is often the case. |
