Politics / Re: Facebook Generation Gears Up To Monitor Nigeria Poll by gReenmAn(m): 4:07pm On Sep 08, 2010
Jcob:

This is really a good one, it's a pity these bastards will still go ahead with their evil plans. Though Social Media has been used in other 3rd world and European Countries to protest against the ill attitude of the government and ended up on positive notes. . . . . but in Nigeria, our leaders will just laugh it off and continue their game. I think the best thing we need is 1 million Nigerians on the street, no revolution, just peaceful demonstration to monitor our votes. Staying indoor on the system won't help us. . . . the way to it is to get together on the social media sites, and come eye to eye during election.

Word.

Politics / Re: Why Naira May Not Be Easily Counterfeited – Cbn ! by gReenmAn(m): 3:59pm On Sep 08, 2010
wales:

Those of you making jest about the security of the naira should have known that counterfeit traffickers do not waste time in currencies that have little or no value. The issue should not be about the security of the falling and dilapidated national currency but on what measures should be taken to halt the constant sliding of the naira. What level of economic activities can be put in place to resuscitate our currency.Until this question is addressed, the Central Bank of Nigeria will remain a feather.

Bro, you said it all.
I rest my case.

Give the guy a break please.

Yeah, he's done some bad things, but truth is, most guys (including most that have posted so far) who are still stuck in Naija and are itching to travel abroad will do far worse things just to travel, and even far worse criminality to actually LIVE & WORK in EU or US if given half a chance.

Politics / Re: Why Bankole Disembarked from BA Flight by gReenmAn(m): 1:29pm On Aug 13, 2010
Thief or no thief, thug or no thug, Bankole is still the number 4 citizen of Nigeria, duly covered by diplomatic immunity.
The overzealous Nigerian BA official must not go unpunished, and BA must render an unequivocal apology to the Honorable.

Nigerians should learn to remove unbridled sentiments from statutory courtesies as in this case.
TV/Movies / Re: Movies You Are Ashamed To Admit U Have Never Seen by gReenmAn(m): 1:26pm On Aug 12, 2010
Basildon1:

Sir, Why so serious?!

Anyways, I havent seen Green Mile and i think I just saw Titanic just over a year ago (that's shameful!). Problem is once you miss seeing at the right time, everyone overdescribes the movie and you lose motivation.

Spot on!
Probably why I never watched Hostages.

Sorry state of the east.

The degeneration of security in the East and South South has become quite alarming. Thanks to the so called Niger Delta militants who introduced this 'strange' form of criminal pastime to the country. They, and the complacent general populace who joked about the kidnap of foreigners in the early days of kidnapping share the blame. Now that our aged parents, brothers & sisters have become prime targets- the joke is now on us.

The IG must realise these guys are impervious to empty threats, he must match his words with action if he ever hopes to curb this malaise.
This thing is no longer a joke.

He would be a fool if he wasn't expecting just that?

I mean, what do expect when you fight your boss. . . he should have resigned a long time ago with his "dignity" intact,
but no, that will never happen, after all, this is Naija where it is a crime to face reality.

Yeah, caught the tail end of it on either AIT or Channels today. 16years!!! Best corruption sentence in Naija EVER!!!

If this is how every corrupt official was sentenced (not the nonsense they gave Govs Lucky Igbinedion and Alamasiegha) we'd sson be on the right path in Naija. Kudos to the judge.

You wish!
Nigerian courts reserve such lengthy sentences strictly for d small fries: people who steal 10k or less, burglars, petty thieves etc.

Music/Radio / Re: Gospel Artiste Rejects Multi-million Naira Liquor Deal by gReenmAn(m): 9:06am On Jun 21, 2010
Wayyy too many holes in this story as already pointed out by many.

Question:
Why would any serious company -identity conveniently missing in this case- make any serious offer to an artiste via her Facebook Fan Page?!

That is ludicrous at best.
This is simply a lame attempt to hype the unknown act.
Nairaland / General / Re: Scientists Create Life From Artifical And Synthetic Materials. by gReenmAn(m): 1:18pm On May 21, 2010
Maybe I used the term "replicate" too loosely, of course I know cloning exists.

The point is, what is the potential danger in the misuse of this scientific 'breakthrough in the hands of "BAD" people',
Think DNA re engineered diseases, customized biological warfare, Frankenstein soldiers etc
. . . these will make the worst sci-fi Apocalypse scenes a reality!
Nairaland / General / Re: Scientists Create Life From Artifical And Synthetic Materials. by gReenmAn(m): 9:58am On May 21, 2010
I read that story too and my first reaction was THIS IS THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!

I bet they'll start replicating humans next. shocked

TV/Movies / Re: Lion Heart: The Kanu Story (Kanu Nwanko's Movie) by gReenmAn(m): 10:20am On Apr 14, 2010
jpworld:

Interesting business man, he is about to make the money he has never make in his life, if a copy of this movie goes for 1$ then 1x150million is 150million dollars,  he is saying he want to give back to the fans as if the money goes to the fans, anyway he better take advantage of his fame, cause in the next 10 -15 years his fame will drop rapidly.

King Kanu is rich and business savvy enough to take care of himself now and in the future, take it or leave it.
You need to do a little research on his investments and assets before making unfounded statements here. angry

I'll be among the first to see this movie when its out.
Politics / Re: Abdulmutallab Returns To Court ! by gReenmAn(m): 10:16am On Apr 14, 2010
I am sure all the heady, slobbering fanatical frenzy that edged him on to kill almost 200 people at a go must have cleared by now that he's all alone in his little cell.

It's the same frenzy that make people remorselessly kill other human beings in Jos in the name of religion.

It's getting to a point where Nigeria should take a cue from France and ban all untoward public display of (Islamic) religiosity. This will help in curbing extremism by making it unfashionable and politically incorrect . . . but that's not gonna happen, I know embarassed
Politics / Re: Ibori Petitions Agf Over Alleged Efcc Manhunt by gReenmAn(m): 9:59am On Apr 14, 2010
mrkoma2012:

This man is labelled as a villan. In all honesty most public office holder loot the country's treasury. Ibori might be an alleged criminal but during his tenure as governor he did perform excedingly well compared to one peter odilli who till this date has not smelt any prosecution considering the huge monthly alloaction from the FG. The babaginda's,abacha etc roam freely this is just a witchhunt on JOI

So you're saying until all the others are brought to book, Ibori should be left alone
Secondly, because he did some good as governor earns him the right to loot

Geeze!
I simply don't see how Nigeria can ever move forward when people proffer such warped reasoning undecided
