Hello bro, I need a reliable GRE registration center, I don't know if mafit is reliable and their price is 105k.
Why not pay and register yourself? That's what I did. I just Googled it and it costs $225 which is about 90k.

I think The minister tweeted it's a typographical error.
Oh, thanks for sharing. I wonder how such an important document would have mistakes all over it. They didn't even spell "aviation" right, that's why I initially thought it was fake. Let's keep waiting.

I am not sure how true this is.
I just saw this on the BBC Nigeria website, so it's very likely true. Only one airport has been approved for international operations based on that list. I hope that's not a mistake, and I hope it means others will follow suit soon. If I'm going to be in the US this year it has to be before October 2nd, so I guess this is good news for me... Sort of?

Beautiful analysis but you are debating against a Charlatan and Demagogue who covers his demagoguery with fake christianity.
I noticed, that's why I didn't reply to him again. When someone responds to a comment with memes I take it that they're just trolling.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Joe Biden: 'I'm Joe Biden's Husband, Joe Biden' by greenskittles: 7:25pm On Jul 25, 2020
In the first one he said "I'm going to BE Joe Biden". In the full clip with context they were asking him whose policies he would imitate or something like that, to which he responded that he has his own record of 40 years, and he's going to BE Joe Biden (and not anyone else).

In the other one he said Jill Biden, in phonetics I think it's called a 'Glottal Stop' where you don't pronounce the last consonant in a word. I have a similar accent and I can see clearly how Jill might sound like Joe, but he obviously said Jill. Anyway, it's election season so I'm not surprised.

For those of you who think he's not mentally fit, you obviously didn't watch the Democratic primary debates, especially the later ones. The first debate with Trump will hopefully shift the polls much more in his favor. Yes he's a guy who makes a lot of gaffes here and there, and it has nothing to do with his age. This is his third time running for President. His first run ended because of one of his dumb gaffes but that doesn't take away from the kind of man he is.

Before this election season, especially before his Vice Presidency, he had a record among both Republicans and Democrats for being a guy who likes to find common ground and make things work. Sen Lindsey Graham , a Republican, who's now a Trump worshipper has publicly said so many nice things about Biden in the past. Even going as far as calling him "as good a man as God ever created". Honestly, I personally think for healing to occur instead of further widening the gap between left and right, Biden is a necessary President. I hope it's Biden and Rice.

My school sent this survey few days ago.

"Please complete this survey to indicate your interests so that we can make the appropriate preparations for the Fall 2020 semester. Please answer these questions with the assumption that consulates would open and are issuing visas, travel restrictions would be lifted, and the CDC and federal and local authorities have issued the greenlight.

Proposal 1 (Semester Dates: October 12 - January 15)
The following programs are open to offering a late start for the Fall semester if there is enough interest: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology and Geophysics, Information Science and Technology, and Petroleum Engineering. The courses would be offered in the hybrid and/or face-to-face option (just like the regular semester we are planning to have this fall).

The above option would allow you to start on October 12th and complete the semester by January 15th. You would continue into your Spring 2021 semester right after the first semester ends. Your I-20 would reflect the new semester dates. For those who already have a Fall 2020 I-20, we would reissue updated I-20's.

This option would give you 2 full semesters and you would be eligible for OPT in the summer. An adequate level of interest from students is required to be able to offer this option.

Proposal 2 (Regular Semester, Online from your home country: August 24th - December 18th)
With this option, you will start in the regular Fall 2020 semester online (August 24th start date) and take 1 or 2 courses online. You will complete the course(s) online and start on-campus in the Spring 2021 semester. Keep in mind that since you did not start on-campus in the Fall, you will not be eligible for OPT in the Summer 2021 as you will not have completed 2 semesters on-campus. This option will be available to anyone who is interested in doing so."

Option 1 sounds so good
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by greenskittles: 5:04pm On Jul 23, 2020
I think I'm going to throw in the towel send a similar email. Although the minister said the airspace will 'might open' before October, there's really no signs to suggest that they will. Another option I was given was to start classes online, and then when things open up here I could come to the US to continue the same quarter. But the caveat was that I must land on campus before October 2nd, because that's the deadline for the school to submit their SEVIS record for the fall quarter.

I think I'll hold on till the second week of August. A part of me wants to get it over with now, but what if there's a chance of things working? (No matter how small). Anyway I have another zoom session with the international center to attend in a few minutes, and that's weird because we had one just a week ago. Maybe there's some new info. I hate this uncertainty but it is what it is.

and what's the use of an ITIN in this case?
Probably to pay taxes. All money you're paid that isn't going towards tuition payment is taxable. They don't joke with taxes o.

I think it's possible for them to pay you through that W-7 form. I just want to if someone fully understands it.
I Googled it just now and it seems it's a form for getting a US ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number). I already have one though.

I totally get how you feel, being in the same shoes. But it's not the end of the world and it's not the end of life. Still pray and hope for the best. Cheer up. Everything will be fine.

P.s. If you sent the embassy the letter as an email attachment, they might not have read it. I don't think they open email attachments because of viral/malware attacks.

Thank you, really, I appreciate it. I'm also preparing my mind for an extreme/worst case scenario where I lose everything (God Forbid though). I don't see how I can possibly pay $36k/year for two years in tuition alone, not to talk of other expenses. In that case I'll just have to accept my fate and look for something else.

Since the Trump administration has allowed current international students to continue studying in the US even if their courses are fully online, it is very likely that they might not be in a hurry to resume visa processing early enough for new students this Fall. Bear in mind that the US is still fighting hard to bring down the rising number of covid cases across the country.

Even schools like mine that planned to implement the hybrid format have also gone back online; only 1 of my 3 courses this Fall is hybrid. That's just because it's an engineering course with lab activity.

So if you feel you have the resources and ability to study remotely from Naija, then go ahead. Even if they can't pay you for the months you work in Fall since you do not have a US bank account, once you get here in Spring that would be resolved. So instead of stressing yourself, have this discussion with your Advisor. Cheers.
Thanks. I definitely would be able to study from Nigeria if I had the resources, but unfortunately I don't, and that's why I need to be completely sure that I could be paid the stipend. I don't think I would be able to take a part time job and still perform to the best of my ability. The courses I'm going to be taking are pretty intense, and that's part of the reason why I'm being funded on a fellowship (no work, basically) instead of an assistantship. The international center said they're still reviewing the legality of paying students and will give an update when they're sure of a solid interpretation of the laws. I also just got news that the Stanford Credit Union is also going to make it possible for students to open bank accounts with them remotely, so right now it really is a matter of the laws. Keeping my fingers crossed. All this would be solved if the Nigerian Government actually cared about it's citizens.

Education / Re: Writing Jamb At Age 25. by greenskittles: 10:27am On Jul 22, 2020
There's a saying that goes 'The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." Yes, if you had "planted your tree", i.e taken the exam years ago when you were younger, you'd probably be enjoying the benefits of having a university education by now. But nothing is stopping you from writing it now, and enjoying those benefits in 5 years. When you're 30, you don't want to look back and think "I wish I had taken this exam when I was 25".

Also, as an addendum, when you take the exam and successfully get admitted, make sure that from day 1, you're looking up the skills required for your dream job. You don't want to graduate with just theoretical knowledge. If you're in Civil Engineering, learn and master CAD software while in school. If you're in economics learn to code in Python and it's applications in data science and finance. And so on. Don't wait till you graduate. I'm wishing you the very best.

This uncertainty is killing me! My supervisor said he was going to try to find a way to see if I can be paid my stipend, but the best scenario would be that I resume physically, obviously. He even wrote me a letter to give the embassy! Unfortunately, I got the same reply as Justochi. I don't know if I should keep holding on and hoping, or just basically tell him there's next to no hope of me coming. When I saw the news on the fp I almost prepared an email to tell him, but the screenshot of that tweet posted in this thread shows it's "fake news". I'm just so confused. And extremely tired.

So Rashford and Bruno are not top performers?
What did Greenwood do in the last match he started? Pogba played more than 30 minutes today?
Lampard for once was able to nullify United Park the bus and counter tactics today, that's after putting the officials in the spotlight about VAR yesterday.
Also tell your coach to take it easy on Bruno, he has started all Man Utd games since he joined.
Ole is just a PHE teacher with bad tactical knowledge, if they keep him till next season he'll be exposed.

For undergraduate study.
Even graduate studies too, so people should really do their research. For example both the University of Washington and UIUC actually calculated my updated GPA themselves. When I logged in to my profile I was horrified to see 3.9 as my GPA and wondered if I'd made a mistake until I saw that it was on a scale of 4 (which means the calculation was done for me, because I didn't do it myself). Some schools will ask you to do wes evaluation, some won't. Read the policy properly before spending unnecessary money.
Sports / Re: Lampard Accuses VAR Of Favouring Manchester United by greenskittles: 3:10pm On Jul 18, 2020
Imagine if someone designed a system where the VAR has no human influence for offside decisions, and for subjective calls like penalties and free kicks, the referee views it himself. For offsides, the players are already wearing trackers under their jerseys. That bra-like black vest tells a player's position at any time. If they can optimise the system to return each player's location with less than a second of latency, then I don't see why they can't implement the same offisde technology used in video games. Honestly if I was a Computer Science Masters Student I would make this my thesis, but as a Civil Engineering grad student my programming knowledge 'no reach'. Lol. It would completely eliminate human error and nobody would argue with the ref about offside calls ever again. People are already implementing Computer Science in football, Liverpool's success (and faith in Klopp) is largely due to the implementation of a Mathematical model that showed Klopp was on the right track, and suggested transfers for them to make, as well as tactics to implement. Dr. Ian Graham developed the model for his PhD thesis and look at them now. I'm going off on a tangent but my point is with good enough funding and motivation, I think research can be implemented to clear these problems.
