Literature / Need Yoruba Literature In PDF Form by greenskittles: 9:15am On Sep 29, 2021 |
I need some interesting Yoruba books in PDF form. Semi-lengthy novels to improve my Yoruba vocabulary. I'm willing to pay about $10/book for your trouble, and I need about 5 books to start with. Would prefer that each book be 250+ pages long, but GOOD shorter novels are also okay (please no "Bisi goes to school" ). I don't know too much about the availability but it would also be nice if the stories in the books are in a cultural/traditional setting. Thanks in advance. |
Technology Market / Re: LAD GLOBAL SERVICES: SHIP FROM USA TO NIGERIA FOR AS LOW AS $6/LBS) by greenskittles: 7:53pm On Sep 12, 2021 |
I would definitely recommend Ladglobal to anyone I know. Done so many transactions with him, probably running well into 7 figures at this point, and he still treats every single one with the same care, dedication and detail, no matter how small/insignificant it might seem. Rare to find a Nigerian company that never gives stories or excuses and always does everything they can to make things right. |

Shows the quality of Conte as a coach. He knows how to get the best out of "finished" players. Unfortunately his transfer targets aren't so great which was part of what I think hurt him at Chelsea. That and his relationship with star players (Costa, William, etc). |

pacespot:Me too. It's not about the violence per se, but the willingness to actually disobey and not just accept what's going on in Nigeria. The violence is more of collateral damage. I wish somehow IPOB could set up a political party and contest in Nigerian elections (in their region!!! not presidential elections!). With the support they have they'd likely win, and then take things to the next level. |
Politics / Re: Gunmen Burn Nkporo Police Station In Abia (Photos) by greenskittles: 1:11am On Apr 29, 2021 |
I've been doing some reading on the whole Biafra issue and it's quite fascinating to me. I honestly believe that the best way forward for Nigeria is a split into homogeneous ethnic states. The cultural differences between the major regions are just way too much, and I also feel like the emergence of new states will give us the chance to start over and do away with the old guard of criminal politicians. So the Biafra idea is a great one in principle. That said, while people might not like IPOB's modus operandi, we have remember that the Nigerian government hasn't done remotely well either. Killing unarmed protesters, detaining Nnamdi Kani for nearly 2 years without trial, etc. Those actions were basically what snowballed into what we have today. And from what it seems like the Biafra movement isn't one that can be killed off easily, because the wrongs of the Biafra genocide (aka Nigerian Civil War) haven't been righted. It seems like many Igbo people are highly sympathetic to the cause, and so even if IPOB is ended, a new group will rise up. Before them, we had MASSOB and BZM. Each time either group started to lose its way/focus, a new one rose up. That's very telling. For the people who have decided to support this incompetent government no matter what, I wonder how they'll feel when they eventually realize that they're on the wrong side of history. Because Nigeria can't continue the way it currently is forever, either it separates through violence/peaceful referendum, or somehow, the system gets a complete overhaul (which seems very unlikely without an incredible, likely violent, catalyst). On a side note I really wish Awo had gone ahead with his threats to secede along with Ojukwu if the Aburi Accord wasn't honored. It was his threat that made the northerners even participate in the first place, and so if he'd kept to his word then we probably would have become 3 independent countries and stayed that way. Thoughts, anyone? |

Can someone please explain? Did he say those things or no? First we got info that he was on the terrorist sponsor list, and then someone came with a rebuttal. Then there was another video where they claimed he was sympathizing with terrorism (the video was not in English), and then someone else came and said that was a lie, and their translation wss that he was debating Islam or whatever. So where did these comments come from again? Who is lying? |

Nigeria is rotten. I guess it should be clear by now why the change we're looking for is not coming anytime soon. The average Nigerian is no different from the crooks in power- and a country's leader is only a reflection of its people. Why must there always be controversies like this surrounding our activism? 1 Like |

jesmond3945:You really don't know what you're saying. I always find it amusing how someone who does a few Google searches thinks they're competent enough to discard research by experts who spent their lives training to that effect. And, using the experiences of a small percentage of people to condemn the vaccine makes no sense. It's like saying because malaria medicine makes some people itch, then nobody should take malaria medicine. Anyway, I'm sure a lot of you anti-vaxxers somehow tie this to your religion (thanks to Facebook conspiracy theories, lol). So I won't bother going further as you cannot attempt to reason a man out of a position he didn't come into through reason in the first place. My only intention with my initial post was to explain how vaccines work, and I've done that. 14 Likes |
Career / Re: Our Boss Asked Us To Resign Because We Refused To Take The COVID-19 Vaccine by greenskittles: 9:01am On Apr 09, 2021 |
TheEnygma: yeme7: Do you know how a vaccine works? This comment shows that most people against the vaccine don't even know what they're afraid of. In layman terms, the COVID-19 vaccine simply introduces a small amount of the virus itself into your body, along with instructions on how to kill it. So your body takes this information and learns what it needs to do, in case it ever encounters COVID-19 in the future. Then suppose someone now tries to infect you with COVID-19. Your body already has the "cheat code" (aka, the vaccine) for how to deal with covid. And so your body is easily able to kill covid without you falling sick from it. That's what a vaccine is. You're supposed to get it before ever being infected with covid. So now, it clearly makes sense that to go into public places, you should've been vaccinated so that: 1. If you're infected, you won't fall sick from it. 2. You won't pass the infection on to someone else. OP's boss is simply protecting themselves, if OP doesn't want to get vaccinated let them leave so their boss can employ people that care about their own safety and that of other employees. 10 Likes |

Science/Technology / Re: ECO TECH JUMIA Fuelless Generator — Tell Me If This Thing Is A Scam [PICTURE] by greenskittles: 12:05pm On Apr 04, 2021 |
The thing about this country is that people prefer to patronize artisans as opposed to people with actual expertise. You see it in my profession, Civil Engineering too- they prefer to patronize builders who will try to make you believe the impossible is possible instead of actual engineers, just to save costs. There is no such thing as a fuelless generator. The concept itself breaks the fundamental laws of thermodynamics. For the proposed solution to work (based on the link you copied), the initial battery has to be an infinite source. To put it in layman's terms, while a portion of the battery does the recharging, and another portion power's your appliances, it will continuously deplete over time. It's like saying you start out by taking N100 from your piggy bank. You then spend N5 (i.e use part of the power for your appliances), and then return N95 naira to your piggy bank (recharge). If you keep doing this, eventually you'll have nothing to return to your piggy bank. If your piggy bank was an infinite source of money however, you could keep on spending money with the assurance that it'd never run out. If you're interested in further reading, please see below: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpetual_motion People in universities don't go there to play, this topic has been widely discussed, studied, and discarded. However, if you're still interested in spending your money, by all means go ahead. 7 Likes |
