RomanceRe: I'm Dating My Friend's Sister But He Doesn't Know. by Guidette(f): 5:25pm On Dec 15, 2013
lasunray: We ve gone Far (Me&her). I'm 2+yrs Older than her. She really loves me & I am very sure about that. She told her mum and Sister about me, but they kept it from the Men in the house (her dad & brother). Her dad is my mum's boss at work, I am usually scared of him but he likes me.
I and the girl could be in the sitting room in his presence & be chatting via fb or whatsapp.
When our other friend talks about my sister, I usually "kick" with a frown or I will just "blast" him; I hope I'm not selfish I doubt if I can allow a friend of mine date my sister but this relationship came suddenly and unexpected (Or is love planned?), I can't explain it. She once told me that her brother wouldn't like it if he knows.

What's your take? Is this awkward? Have you experienced this before?
If you don't have any bad intentions and you are going into this relationship because you can really see a future, you need to tell your friend. It will come out eventually anyways, so better do yourself the favor and tell him or it may get messier than it actually should.
CultureRe: Nigerians Have Very High Self Esteem! by Guidette(f): 5:09pm On Dec 15, 2013
The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else's highlight reel.
But what is Nigeria's highlight reel? Yes... we are the most populous black nation on earth and we pioneered the entertainment industry in Africa. We have oil and the biggest economy in Africa. Plus maybe saying we have Dangote or Alakija.
But what are our personal highlight reels for being Nigerian? My culture? My family? My friends?... There isn't anything more I can personally add on why I love being Nigerian.
We need to tell ourselves the truth.... Nigerians do not have high self esteem. If we did, we would not let our society deteriorate to the manner it has presently.

Who wants to be a Nigerian? Million dollar question. undecided

RomanceTrinidadian Women Cheat As Much As Their Men by Guidette(op): 11:55pm On Dec 11, 2013
“Trini men no good girl, go get yuhself a German or some Nigerian doctor. They go treat you real, real nice!” This used to be the rhetoric in Trinidad a few years ago. But now.. It seems the tables have been turned around because as it stands now, Trinidadian women cheat as much as the men.

I took a day trip to Trinidad yesterday and found out first hand how bad the situation was. A friend who took me around told me him and his wife have a mutual understanding: "I have a girl on the side that I see everyday, and so does she. Everything is rosy in our marriage. What she does, I don't need to know and the same goes for her". I was so dumbfounded to hear something like that come from a married man's mouth. I'm sure he saw the shock on my face and followed with, "This is Trinidad! You horn me and I horn you back. Simple and short. It's a normal thing around here" (Horn means cheat on)

I decided to do a little more digging around and realised that sex in Trinidad is no longer a taboo topic among family members and everyone seems very open about it. Even the ladies. Sextoy stores are booming with majority of the sales coming from the ladies... being open about your sexuality is no longer taboo for women.
Whorehouses are scattered all around the island with most of their customers being locals and expatriates bringing women from all over the world to sell their 'goods'. Women from Guyana, Columbia, Jamaica, etc... prostituting their selves for as little as $50 in what is known as the 'package deal' whereby a customer gets a room, condom and the woman all inclusive.

It kind of made sense after I had heard all the wild stories about the Trini carnival and how people let loose and do all sorts of scandalous things on the streets. The women wear the skimpiest costumes and grind on any and every man. It doesnt matter is she is single or not, everything goes during carnival.
I also heard of married women going out to clubs and whining on men while their husband is out with his girlfriend on the side. Or even women giving out their numbers to men discretely while she's at the club with her man! shocked
Maybe this explains the AIDS epidemic in the Caribbean or not, but immorality reigns supreme in Trinidad.
I think Trini women are one of the most beautiful women in the world, but I don't think it justifies the amount of infidelity I hear among couples though. But I am happy about the equality of things. In Naija, it is a different story. In my opinion, the men cheat a lot more than women. What do you think?

Foreign AffairsRe: Uruguay Become The First Country To Legalise Marijuana by Guidette(f): 9:15pm On Dec 11, 2013
ROSSIKE: Stop making baseless insinuations about 'paranoia' and 'reduced need to improve blah blah'. Those are culture-based judgement calls not grounded on any scientific or medical foundation, or any credible, empirical research.

Since when did a plant become a ''substance''? Why are people addicted to egusi and bitter leaf?
Lol, I will leave you with this:
St John's Wort: Plant used as a drug to treat depression
Agbo: Used as a drug to treat all sorts of ailments
Heroin/Morphine: Derived from poppy plant and used as drugs
Quinine: Drug derived from bark of trees used as a drug
Tobacco: A plant used for smoking
...... Plants can be drugs too. Don't pretend that since weed is a plant, that means it is all good and cannot have side effects. I have repeated myself for the 20th time, I DON'T THINK WEED IS BAD BUT PEOPLE NEED TO BE CAREFUL WHEN USING IT! I am not going to argue with you any further. Goodday to you mister.
Foreign AffairsRe: Uruguay Become The First Country To Legalise Marijuana by Guidette(f): 8:52pm On Dec 11, 2013
ROSSIKE: ''Reduced motivation'' is a byword for ''less materialistic''. Less inclined to join the ''rat race''. More inclined to think independently of the crowd. To think holistically as opposed to selfishly. Not sure those are necessarily bad things. From a materialist perspective yes, but there's more to life than a materialist, money-first perspective.
Lol, so paranoia and reduced need to improve oneself is a good thing? Anyways ride on my brotha. No hard feelings. Im not against anybody who smokes weed, infact I know a lot of friends that are in med school with me that smoke weed regularly and are doing well. But I have also seen first hand weed psychosis. So.... Im just saying... y'all need to be careful.
Also, why would anyone want to be addicted to a substancehuh
Foreign AffairsRe: Uruguay Become The First Country To Legalise Marijuana by Guidette(f): 8:36pm On Dec 11, 2013
ROSSIKE: Operative words are 'schizophrenic' & 'predisposed'. I'm talking of normal healthy adults ie 99% of the pop.
I forgot to even add... how do you even know if you are predisposed to schizophrenia or not? Nobody goes for gentic testing before taking weed. So I am just saying..... weed is still a drug that can have potentially bad side effects on people. It is not as bad as other drugs but nonetheless be careful.
Foreign AffairsRe: Uruguay Become The First Country To Legalise Marijuana by Guidette(f): 8:29pm On Dec 11, 2013
ROSSIKE: Operative word is 'predisposed'. I'm talking of normal healthy adults ie 99% of the pop.
Yeah.. but don't paint it as a wonder drug with no side effects. I am saying that all drugs have side effects no matter how good they are. Long term weed use is associated with reduced motivation. That's why potheads are seen as slackers.
I am medical student and approve of weed for recreational use but I still maintain that people be careful when they use any drug of any sort... be it for medicinal or recreational use.
Foreign AffairsRe: Uruguay Become The First Country To Legalise Marijuana by Guidette(f): 8:25pm On Dec 11, 2013
ROSSIKE: Abeg go siddon with that bullshiit. There is ZERO EVIDENCE that cannabis causes mental problems. Stop propagating ignorance.
Actually studies have shown that Marijuana can induce psychosis in schizophrenic patients and people who are predisposed to schizophrenia.
The main thing is that with every drug, there is some risk attached to taking it and should be used in moderation. Be it alcohol or even paracetamol. My 2 cents.

castielo: Being homophobic, i find it difficult to relate with these people.. A nigga smiles at you and in your mind you are like "wat d bleep is goin on in dat rotten brain of his?". You can't feel 100% safe around diz guys

Its no ones fault that they are being ostracized. Its like eating meat in a canteen full of vegetarians and wearing tight leggings into a hall full of Jehovah witnesses and u expect to be accepted the way you are.. completely insane

Just like every other form of addiction, gettin diz guys to change or abandon their lifestyle 'gon take more than just prison sentences.. but one thing i'm sure, ain't nobody 'gon embrace dat crap as legal in diz country
Okay, I get that you are homophobic... but why take panadol for other people's headache. Shey they are gay and you are straight? Leave them alone and carry yourself on your own way. You guys spend a ton of time hating on these people it makes me think classically of Reaction formation or Projection.
Besides most gay people have sex with other gay people and not straight people. Get over it!
RomanceRe: Gays R Born Not Made(d Over Flogged Issue) by Guidette(f): 7:12pm On Dec 11, 2013
Honestly I don't understand the whole mentality that men go out and become gay.
It sounds too stupid that someone who is heterosexual will go out of his way to be classed among people who are villified and persecuted daily by majority. It is like me having more than enough money to live on Banana island but I choose willingly to go and live in Maiduguri. Makes no sense to me.

He's only interested in d sex, we dont get too see each other regularly buh whenever we do it just s*x n am tired of it.

I really need your advice on dis...
First things first... Do you really like him? If you do then giiiirrrrrl you are in very big trouble. I would say try to get him to DTR (Define the relationship). If he says he wants to be fuck_ buddies, then you know where you stand with him and everything you do from that day on is all on you. If he wants a gf then try and have conversations with him outside his bedroom, like try taking walks or going to restaurants instead of ending up in his bed every single time.

Trust me.... DTRing will be the best thing that will ever happen to you.

The Federal Government yesterday said it was unaware of the killing of Nigerians in CAR. Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman, Mr Ode Ogbole, when contacted, said he was hearing about the incident from our reporter.

“I am hearing this from you but I will contact our Central African Republic mission to find out about the report,” he said.

Daily Trust could not reach the Nigerian embassy in Bangui by telephone last night.

Foreign AffairsRe: Uruguay Become The First Country To Legalise Marijuana by Guidette(f): 6:14pm On Dec 11, 2013
Wow. This is a great development. I am so happy that Uruguay didnt give into the pressure from US and Brazil to not legalize weed. I hope Uruguay will be used as an example of how a country can work while weed is legalized and state regulated instead of leaving up to cartels. If they are successful in this feat, I hope they dont stop there but go on and legalize all drugs and state regulate/subsidize it so that crime rate and cartels will go down.
I honestly think that society goes on to punish drug users rather than reform them which is totally wrong. I am glad Uruguay is taking a step in the right direction.

This is fact: The war on drugs has done more harm than drugs itself.
RomanceRe: Having Intimate Feelings/relationship With A Friend by Guidette(f): 2:06pm On Dec 10, 2013
Honestly, as a chick... Once you are a chick's friend it is really hard to undo. That's why most guys who like me have told me straight up they don't want to be my friend cheesy
I think if you want to get into anything with her, you need to distance yourself. Make yourself less available... let her miss you. And then you will see her crawling back. That's when you start hanging around other chicks (finnee chicks) and give them more attention than you will give her. It will make her wonder about you. Then when she has gotten fed up, you reel her back in.... and then if she gives you signs that she's interested in this new you, make your move!

(All of this applies to you if you are fine or have money, if you want a Naija girl) grin

chupcake: First of, you cute, don't let anyone tell you otherwise

Okay ma, lemme see if I get you.. In the future, You want a man who is faithful and not think about sex all the time... Yea well, we want what we want but from my own perspective, If you think he's a good man, then that covers the issue of compatibility, but if you want him to be faithful, he has to think about sex, with you, on the regular.

Girls that refuse to see the fact that if you don't want your man to be unfaithful, you gotta be someone that's not worth cheating on and that includes satisfying the 'Sexual Need'.. If you date someone with an high sexual drive (99% of the average man) you gonna have to sleep with him on the regular and trust he doesn't cheat on you.. At least, we already established the fact that he's a good man. cheesy
Yeah I get the whole sex thing. Its not that important to me anyways.
I think the only way me and a guy can co-exist perfectly is if he is faithful, not a sexaholic (very important!), respects me as much as I respect him and fears God. These criteria are necessary, after that hopefully everything falls into place.
Plus, I know I am pretty. I just laugh when I see people abuse my looks just because they disagree with me. Very low lipsrsealed

My mum and sisters are lightskinned (Im the only dark girl) and they always get attention too. I think once you are pretty it doesn't matter what colour your skin is.

A man’s hairline is precious like a woman’s edges. Without it, swag levels plummet which explains why LeBron plays in a deluxe XXXXL headband. To many women, “man weave” is cosmetic voodoo or straight-up deception, but is it really in a world where women proudly rock hair extensions/wigs? You be the judge.
Here are Twitter reactions/photos of the game-changing weave for men. Take a look.
