Simple law of Demand and Supply has been ignored. If you allow us to collect our Western Union in our $$ with which it was sent to us, the BDCs will have sufficient inflow into the Autonomous market and exchange rate will come down. CBN Gov forgets that there was a time abt 4 years ago that Black Market and CBN rates were almost the same until Emperor SLS introduced by force by force that we must collect our WU in =N= @ CBN rates and the banks in return gave us our same money bank at 15% loss to us through our Debit cards. |

Politics › Re: Jonathan Is Not To Blame, Reno Omokri Replies Lai Mohammed by Guk: 6:01pm On Dec 22, 2015 |
olokfor: Former presidential aide Reno Omokri writes open letter to the minister of Information. Read below
Dear Honourable Minister Lai Mohammed, Greetings and congratulations on your recent and well deserved appointment as Nigeria's Minister of Information. You may recall that we met on the set of 'Politics Today' in May of 2011 soon after I was interviewed by Deji Bademosi and just before you were interviewed.
The purpose of my letter to you today is in response to your statement made on Monday the 21st of December, 2015 in which you accused former President Goodluck Jonathan, whom I served as one of three spokesmen, of being responsible for the current excruciating fuel scarcity now subsisting in Nigeria.
Your exact words were "What I will be telling Nigerians is that what we met on ground is such that we are paying for the sins of the last administration.....One of the reasons for the fuel scarcity was the inability of the last government to make adequate provision for fuel subsidy". My candid take on your message to Nigerians is that it is an abdication of responsibility on your part and does not project you and the government you represent as being responsible. Government, as you very well know, is a continuum. One government takes over from where the other stopped and to say that an action in December of 2015 (six months after ex President Jonathan handed over to the incumbent on May 29th, 2015, ) is the fault of the last President, is to confer super human powers on Jonathan.
To prove to you that it is wrong to blame the former President, I will quote the words of the incumbent President. A month ago, President Buhari, while speaking to the Nigerian community in the Iranian capital, Tehran, said “I believe if you are in touch back at home, you would have been told that already there is some improvement in power". Those were the words of President Muhammadu Buhari in Tehran on November 25th, 2015. You, Honourable Minister, also boasted about the improvement in power back in August 2015, when you attributed the improvement to the 'body language' of the 'new sheriff' in town. You may recall that you said "I say it anywhere I go that even though we have not added one single megawatt to power, there has been improvement.
My colleagues in the PDP will say no; that’s not true. But I maintain that this improvement is as a result of the kind of integrity that President Buhari has brought to leadership." Now, you and I know that despite what you said about the President's "body language", there is absolutely no way that any action or inaction of President Muhammadu Buhari could have led to an improvement in power.
All the new power stations that have come on stream this year were either built or completed by Jonathan. Absolutely all of them were conceived, funded, built and commissioned by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidents, the same party that you said had destroyed Nigeria. On October 19th, 2013, then President Jonathan completed and commissioned the 530 Megawatts Omotosho Power station Phase 2 begun by his predecessor.
On February 20th, 2015, he commissioned the 750 MW Olorunsogo II Power Station in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. On March 24th, 2015, Jonathan also commissioned the Phase I 504MW (Simple Cycle Gas) Alaoji Power Plant at Umuobasi-Ukwu, Abia State. Former President Jonathan was also the leader who successfully privatized major chunks of our power generation and distribution infrastructure. He also created the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading PLC.
So concerned was President Jonathan to know the state of electricity provision that I had to do regular, sometimes weekly, polls and surveys on Twitter to get the public's feedback on the state of power in their locales. Yet, despite all these, President Buhari and you, Honourable Minister, were not shy at taking credit for the improvement in electricity in far away Tehran and Lagos at various times this year. One wonders why the same "integrity" you credited for automatically improving power cannot provide fuel?
Don't you think it is a bit rich to blame ex President Jonathan for the current fuel subsidy especially given the fact that leading lights of your party resisted and rejected the ex President's move to do away with fuel subsidy by deregulating the down stream sector of the petroleum sector? Indeed Honourable Minister, you may recall that as the National Publicity Secretary of the then Action Congress of Nigeria, you released a statement condemning the then government's plans to deregulate the petroleum industry and remove fuel subsidy and also said that the removal of fuel subsidy was "a threat to Nigeria's unity".
Sir, you would agree with me that it is only honourable to take the bitter with the sweet. I am reminded of my 10 year old daughter's comments to me every time I accuse her of watching too much television. She quotes a line from the Disney movie, 'A Bug's Life' in which Hopper says to Atta "First rule of leadership: Everything is your fault". If my daughter at 10 is aware of this rule, shouldn't a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who also happens to be over 60 years of age, and who also happens to be the official spokesperson of the current administration know this rule?
A bad workman may blame his tools, but it takes an irresponsible workman to blame his predecessor! When Jonathan became President on May 6th, 2010, he met a comatose railway network. He did not blame his predecessors. Rather, he went to work. Within two years, he successfully rehabilitated a significant portion of our national railway infrastructure and had restored intra and inter city routes for the first time decades.
He made it possible for Nigerians to travel from Lagos to Kano for less than $10 (₦1600). There were services from Port Harcourt to Enugu, Makurdi to Port Harcourt and Gombe-Kafanchan-Kaduna to mention but a few. For the first time in decades, there was a direct rail transport from Tin Can Island Port in Lagos all the way to Kano with stops along the way. Jonathan successfully built the brand new standard gauge 187 kilometer Abuja-Kaduna railway which will make it possible to live in Kaduna and work in Abuja.
Within Lagos, he introduced air conditioned fast Diesel Multiple Unit trains, the first of its type in Nigeria. I quite remember that when I wrote about these accomplishments, members and sympathizes of your party publicly labeled me a liar. I remained a liar in the eyes of the Nigerian public until my recent surprise vindication by the new Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, who said while on a familiarization tour of the Nigerian Railway Corporation as follows “in fact, I think we have a problem; most people don’t believe that the railway transport is functioning in Nigeria. I didn’t even know, until I started this tour, I never knew that the railway was functioning, it was even from his (MD’s) speech that I learnt that there are some coaches or services that go to Kano or Port Harcourt or elsewhere. So we need to make people become more aware that the narrow gauge is working, and that people can still use it to travel around that country."
Now, Honourable Minister Lai Mohammed, who do we blame for this remarkable progress in our rail sector? Let me end this letter to you with a quote from best selling author, Dr. Steve Maraboli: "It’s time to care; it’s time to take responsibility; it’s time to lead; it’s time for a change; it’s time to be true to our greatest self; it’s time to stop blaming others."
Thank you and be assured of my continued loyalty and support to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

LordAdam: So a few misguided miscreants did not let the COAS pass. After killing a few tens at the procession ON THE ROAD. They also went to the heart of the Shia Muslim community in Zaria to kill "at least one thousand people" and burn their houses.
It's like if some people were protesting about Biafra and denied the COAS passage in Onitsha. And then he kills some at the point where he was denied passage. After which he sent the military to the heart of Onitsha to kill several hundreds of people who probably were not part of the protest but were simply Igbos.
When a group of people are killed simply because of their religious affiliation for the decision made by misguided elements in the same religious group, it is a crime against humanity and there is no justification.
Why not the military start killing thousands of Sunni Muslims because their religious members, Boko Haram, have killed tens of thousands of Nigerians including soldiers?
I regret being a citizen of a country where human lives are worth NOTHING. Where there are flagrant disregard of human rights, and the populace keep mute in a supposedly democratic state.

Are you also away that Rayfield in Jos had its own power supply? Do you know how many Nigeria businessmen would jump at the cluster arrangement as we speak today?? Do you know how many jobs will be created through the clusters. Ymodulus: What a pretty piece! Well articulated. I was moved to comment, because i love your article.
Can one say that Buhari has a thing for yoruba's with the name Tunde? - First it was TUNDE Idiagbon, next was TUNDE Bakare and now TUNDE Fashola. PMB understands what vital tools he needs to drive home this gospel of change.
Idiagbon happens to be a leader whose legacies still span into our modern economy, judging by the strides Fashola achieved during his tenure as the Lagos State government, we can safely say he has created a record. However I have a few concerns, as the task ahead of him now is more bigger than that of he encountered at the state level.
At the state level, Fashola consolidated on his predecessor's work, this made things easier for him. Today this is not the case as the PDP government had no clear agenda or objective after the sack of Prof. Barth Nnaji and as a result Fashola has the herculean task of starting from the scratch.
Nevertheless, My informed sentiment is optimistic that he will perform, but we should not expect a miracle. With respect to Barth Nnaji/Fashola, Barth's achievement is not lost on Fashola as BRF, within what the law allowed him provided Power to Lagos State via PPP and that's the template APC had mentioned on a number of occasions that they were going to adopt and adapt. What you are likely to find as an example is that an estate as big as VGC will be allowed to generate and supply power to a minimum number utilising gas. Same for clusters like Trade fair complex; Industrial areas etc. That will be replicated all over the country and it will leave d remaining 4000mw to be shared by poorer areas that can't afford the expensive power provision in estates. In my boss' estate for instance, they pay over =N=50,000 per month for constant electricity and they r not complaining |

GeneralShepherd: Until an APC politician is probed I will take this anti-corruption war with a pinch of salt.
An example is the confirmation of Fashola even though he was accused of paying 78 million naira for a website.
I agree that there is no politician that is squeaky clean, I also agree that PDP politicians may even be more corrupt, however calling the misappropriation of 78 million naira nothing is the reason why our leaders loot because we will always defend them.
78 million is approximately £285000, now food for thought David Chaytor an MP (equivalent of a senator in Nigeria) was jailed in 2010 in Britain (a country far richer than Nigeria ) for misappropriation of £18000.
I wish you guys living in Nigeria goodluck I will hold brief for BRF in this instance for a number of reasons. (1) 78m is not for building of website only, it includes "Content acquisition" which entails paying people for intellectual property; Requirements gathering; Project Management; Website Building; Website daily operation; Website Management and Disaster recovery for 5years. I have been involved in jobs like this and you have a lot to factor to enable you meet your service levels (2) There was open tender and several companies bidded, so, it was competitive. (3) It was reviewed by Min of Science and Technology who gave Technical approval before going to Public procurement who will give commercial approval with the entire process bn managed by Min of Budget and Planning who hold a fine comb. (4) On approval, it was made public on the LASG procurement website alongside hundreds of other contract approvals, so, there was no concealment. The only thing CACOL did was go to the website, pick what looked outrageous and without asking for an explanation sensationalised and unfortunately, there are too many lazy people on social media who just follow the crowd. Lagos State during BRF, publishes their performance usually a 56 page document prepared and delivered openly by then Commissioner for Budget and planning Ben Akabueze. A little use of Google before reacting will help Nigerians to be better informed and then their quality of argument will be better. |

Lordave: With the history of poor, erratic and unsteady power supply associated with past governments, even Maitama residents would be anticipating the APC trademark 'Change' to sweep across the ministry of power and somehow or anyhow solve the problem of nonexistent power supply in most parts of the country. Alas, Buhari, today decided to name former Lagos State governor, Mr Raji Babatunde Fashola as the minister of merged former Ministries of Power, Works and Housing. From a progressive perspective every sensible Nigerian would agree that this is a very big mistake from our president. The ministry of Work and Housing alone is a deserving ministry for a person of Fashola's calibre and administrative prowess to pilot, likewise Power. Heading the Ministry of Works and Housing in Nigeria is very cumbersome and almost equivalent to the numerous tasks he faced as the Governor of Lagos State were he had commissioners who were accountable to him, let alone Power being added to this workload of a Portfolio. I'm tempted to ask, did Buhari seek advice and make proper consultation before handing these merged portfolio to Mr Fashola? If he did, what were his findings? Which people supported his merging of these ministries?(they should be named so we can know those who indirectly oppose our progress) In a nutshell, it was unexpected, unprogressive, nonsensical and most especially, unacceptable merging of this work laden ministries and handing it over to one man considering the immediate change Nigerians are expecting in the power sector. Buhari should separate this ministries and make Mr Fashola a minister to one of them.
It would be inevitable hearing APC faithfuls say, "after all it is merged ministry, and as such presents a herculean task to the government in bringing a reasonable level of change to what we had in the previous administrations who are responsible for the majority of ruins in the ministries.
WE DO NOT WANT EXCUSES! I read your treatise from top to bottom and would therefore like to point out aa few things (1) There was a Steve Orosanye report during GEJ's regime that recommended merging and collapsing of MDAs which on analysis was applauded by all and sundry. Now, PMB implements it, u are angry......na wa o! (2) Power: BRF, through PPP, provided constant Power supply to Lagos Island and Alausa using Diesel plant and Gas respectively. Over and over again, APC had mentioned that they will adopt the template of LASG for Fed Govt, so, why can it be wrong to put a man with the implementation experience there? (3) Housing: Put all the states in Nigeria together, they did not build any where near the number of housing units BRF delivered. We have middle level employees in companies now owning houses in Lagos cos of BRF. (4) Works: for those who live in Lagos, it's was obvious that BRF was a Project and Implementation delivery Gov....he delivered Water works; initiated transport alleviation projects(Metro rail; Cable Car; Private Taxi Cabs; opened up Lekki and Badagry) so. Works is not a big deal. He has the experience (5) His style of management has clearly shown that he can manage many more ministries sef as he would have Perm Secretaries and Department Directors and heads of parastatals to work with. Begin to look out for real change within the next 18months |

I am an account holder with StanbicIBTC bank, I am trying to put fund together to pay for my daughter’s tuition fee in CU in which case the institution already resumed last week. Yesterday afternoon, I got a call from somebody purportedly from StanbicIBTC who said “Am I speaking with Dr. Adewole” (called out my other names) to which I answered in the affirmative. He said he called in respect of my BVN which I was observed not to have done, I replied that I already had it done with Skye bank and he said the bank will send me a link so that my account with Stanbic will be linked with the BVN. True to our conversation, I receive a message from StanbicIBTC in which an OTP was sent to my phone. A few minutes later, he called to ask if I got the the SMS, I told him yes but I can’t do anything about it cos I was driving. He said no problem I should call out the numbers which I did and he thanked me for my cooperation in a customer service manner. I heard nothing since then till this afternoon at precisely 13:00 hrs when I received a SMS from StanbicIBTC informing me of a debit transaction which cleared my account to the lowest thousand, i.e. I was left with a paltry N685 (six hundred and eighty five naira). I called my account officer who confirmed to me that I have fallen victim of fraudsters and he checked up on my account and saw that the recipient acct is in First Bank. My puzzle is how did they get my account details? How were they able to generate an OTP to my phone. I am waiting to see what my bank would do on it. In the mean time, please be aware of what the 419 people can do. I’ll keep you posted on any new development.” http://www.onlineleaks247.com/index.php/2015/11/02/on-going-bvn-scam-even-the-most-cautious-person-will-fall-for-this-one/
CC: lalasticlala lala, kindly put this out there to keep people informed. Thanks If this is to make people be aware of likely scenarios, then, its in order but the bank StanbicIBTC should not have been dragged into it as its unfair to them for the following reasons: (1) Your User ID is your Bank Account Number which anyone can pick from your cheque leaf (2) You then require a Password which on inputing, then activates an OTP to your registered phone number, therefore, the scammers must have gotten hold of your password (entirely your fault) (3) In the story, the victim voluntarily gave out his OTP. StanbicIBTC has it written in bold "NEVER DISCLOSE YOUR OTP TO ANYONE INCLUDING THE BANK." From the foregoing, the bank is in no way liable. |

Opinedecandid: Don't abuse the woman, no need. Do you know why you should not?
I belong to that category of people the ignorant call 'wailing wallers'
But very soon, we will be vindicated. Or should I have said, we are already vindicated. And at the end too, we shall be absolved of all blames.
Suffice to draw your attention to the fact that recent 'body languages' (events) on our national stage have proven that the problem of Nigeria is NOT PDP and not APC, too. Recent events at both the Senate and House of Reps have illuminated this fact. Even the not-too-eventful leadership offered by President Buhari (the executive Arm) and the inconsistent, incoherent and twisted rullings by the judiciary also lay credence to the fact that no man or arm is above board. Not one. Forget the utopian promises APC made, they were all votes-attracting sugar-coated talks Economies dont nose dive overnight........its an accumulation of Obj's loss of control to Hawks and GEJ's weakness and allowing the greatest theft and impunity ever experienced on the face of the earth. If the extent of GEJ's profligacy is revealed to you.......am not sure what your reaction would be....it might be murderous (Only those who benefited from the profligacy are complaining about his exit.) PDP was destructive to Nigeria. As for the new govt, its unfair to assess them based on a few months performance. As for Shagari era, Awolowo kept shouting from the roof top as far back as 1980 that NPN was destroying the country economically but they said he was wailing......we all are reaping the result of years of profligacy |

modath: Joke of the century..
Asking a goat to prevent a sheep from eating community grass, no be cooperative chopping go end am.. What needs to be understood is the principle behind this approach. It's a "poisoned chalice" approach. Let me explain how it works. The person to conduct the probe is usually a high level EFCC official who is likely in line to possibly become the head if the present one is removed. He either does a "coverup" job, which implicates him going forward or he does a thorough transparent exercise which might either indict or exonerate. Either way, his integrity and thoroughness then becomes the focus of the probe. That's why it's a poisoned chalice |

South south and south east are one.
Joke of the century!!! An Efik or Ibibio man can never never be one with Igbos! Never!! |

Rapture007: Please go get a good education and stop this foolishness.I wuldnt bother talking abt being landlocked or not, a simple google search will show u countries that are landlocked and far far ahead of Nigeria. It seems not being Landlocked is an open sesame for building a prosperous nation. If it is, den Nigeria must be THE MOST DEVELOPED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD since our coastline stretches 800km long. As for your foolish statement about loosing properties please wake up, dis is 21century.Hope u aint planning to 'corner' a Biafran landlord's house becos u cant afford rent again .Back den Jews were even more scattered than Biafran today and I guess u hardly read that is why u sound pathetic in ur comment. You have extolled about other parts of the world but you still haven't articulated the benefits of having a Biafran nation. Put aside rhetorics that sway the ignorant ones and list out the benefits of Biafra over the freedom that Igbos have all over Nigeria and beyond today |

FrankAba1: Austria is arguably "landlocked" based on your assessment. But with a population of just around 8.6 million and a total area of about 83K km2 commands a GDP per capita of about $47k, while your Nigeria with a staggering population (largely unproductive illiterates) of about 177 million and about a total area of 923K km2, has a GDP per capita of around $2k.
Go to prosperity.com and see the gulf between Austria(15) and Nigeria(125).
All Romans doesn't reside in Rome. The discrimination faced by the Igbo and Biafrans can't be worse than it currently is, without options. Indigenous People Of Biafra won't force anyone to join their struggle for Freedom, Liberty and Human rights, let those who wish to remain be.
The truth is, the "Experiment" will never make it into the 20th century in your life time, let alone 21st century!
Republic of Biafra is my home. Home is where the heart is, they say. I wish you and your fellow travellers luck |

Truth24: Na so e suppose be na.... The fear of Biafra is the beginning of ....... Can we be educated on what the benefit of Biafra will be? The 5 Igbo States are landlocked which is the 1st disadvantage. 2ndly, Igbos are scattered all over Nigeria, why would you want (a) a likely loss of properties in those places that they reside and (b) restricted movt and discrimination even though they shld benefit from free Ecowas movt. Personally, I think this is just a form of excitement for the Selfie; Social Media; Internet and Entertainment generation. The serious generation of Economic; Social and Academic players among the Igbos are not interested in ds type of playground behaviour |

sweetgala: Why do I fail to beleive that blogging pays so well that Aunty Linda has over 800 million to spare on a house.
It seems we are now all so deluded by the usual government billions we hear of we don't realise how much 800 million is anymore.
Aunty Linda is either into oil bunkering or has an aristo in Abuja
She could easily have gotten thst =N=800m from Adverts.......try and calculate how much she could have made from GEJ adverts during elections........Those wall paper adverts drew in unimaginable money |

Gogetta: Sadly, I have to agree. That list no be am. Really?? Have you conftirmed that they lack competency? Have you sought to research on them via google or you would rather jump to accept sensational jibes? Let me help you with a little research i did on Folarin Coker..... He was in charge of Lagos State Number Plate Production Agency. This agency produces Number Plates for FRSC within 24hours. If not for them, number plates issuance in Nigeria would have been a disaster like Drivers License is up till today. The agency operates proffesionally and has generated Billions of Naira in revenue and employed people, so, why just agree to rubbish people becos someone else say they are bad without you crossscheking? Deji Tinubu, though might be related to Bola Tinubu, is extremely competent; highly responsible and sufficiently intelligent to add value to Lagos State if the Gov allows. The problem i forsee is that Ambode might have people more intelligent and astute than him in his cabinet and he might not have the know how to manage such. Incidentally, GEJ's inability to manage Ministers who were more intelligent than him affected him and was obvious. Ministers such as Okonjo; Akinwunmi; Diezani; Mobola Johnson; Barth Nnaji. He also had Ministers who were crafty such as Stella Oduah; Wysom Wike; Labaran Maku. |
