Goddex:Some of you take inefficiencies as normal in Nigeria. With the number of blunders commited by Jega and his staff, he should have fallen on his sword by now. It is apparent that the position overwhelms him. 1st and foremest, every Database project should not proceed if there is no backup/archiving or disaster recovery strategy. (you dont joke with peoples data). Immediately you are collecting the Data, its been automatically replicated in a secure environment. The next question is, at what point did they lose the data? (1) After the 2011 elections (2) After the so called cleaning exercise where they removed duplictae names (3) After they printed out all PVC and announced timetable for Lagos state distribution ![]() 2ndly, i registered and voted in that same location as Fashola as i was living there then, i have since moved, i need an INEC form from Surulere to my new area. My new area has concluded registration and closed shop, the place i will collect transfer form has not resumed, so, it will be a waste of time collecting form as destination no longer exists. (For a project of this size, several scenarios are meant to be played before they embark on it but in our usual 9ja way, we prefer and celebrate mediocrity) Option A4 is still the most transparent and appropraite for Nigeria........Line up behind the poster on your candidate and we all count there together. We used it during Abiola versus Tofa and it succeded 100% |
I intentionally culled this from the Punch newspaper to highlight the delibrate cluelessness of our leaders and their plundering spirit You have a Cash Cow in NLNG producing LPG; you have O-Gas investing so much in producing gas apparatus usuable for low income people. You have not and did not think of spending =N=90b on making things better, as NLNG highlighted the issues in the bolded area which less than =N=90b will solve......SMH “Only last year, the company further increased this volume by 66 per cent to 250,000 metric tonnes to meet growing utilisation of cooking gas by Nigerians.” Omotowa, in a presentation titled: NLNG’s Role in Developing the Domestic LPG Market delivered by Nigeria LNG’s Marketing and Development Manager, Mr. Abdulkadir Ahmed, stated that only about 600,000 metric tonnes of cooking gas had been absorbed by the local market since NLNG’s intervention in September 2007 because of market inefficiencies across the LPG value chain. This is the same NLNG that FG through NIMASA used militant Tompolo to block delivery of their orders because of some lame excuse about Tax payments. It got so bad that NLNG had to declare Force Majeure These, he added, included the absence of a functioning cylinder manufacturing plant, inadequate storage, poor transport network and infrastructure, limited jetty availability and low-priority berthing given to LPG vessels , which have all conspired to thwart the market’s ability to absorb NLNG’s increased supply. Other critical areas of possible intervention as highlighted by the NLNG CEO include terminal operation and development, distribution and retail, promotion and awareness and government policy and incentives for full maturity of the domestic LPG market. Also speaking at the conference, the President, Nigerian LPG Association, Mr. Dayo Adeshina, explained that, “Due to Nigeria LNG’s intervention, the domestic LPG is not where it was when it came on the scene in September 2007. NLNG has been at the forefront of stabilising supply which has brought some obvious gains, including an almost 70 per cent reduction in price from between N6,500 and N7,500 for a 12.5kg cylinder to its current price of between N2,800 and N3,500. But other stakeholders still have some way to go for the public to fully enjoy the gains of this intervention.” |
I am pretty sure that after so many pages, this issue will have been thoroughly thrashed but here are my 2 cents to the writer. (1) About IGR vis a vis borrowing. Funds needed for Capital projects are needed in bulk whilst IGR comes in bits and pieces, therefore you borrow based on your anticpated income and you use the income as they come in to offset the borrowing. The writer failed in pointing out track record. Its a great risk to a lender to keep borrowing to a chronic defaulter. LASG has shown itself as good loanee. It is on record that Lagos state clears its debt appropraitely. Now, for a simple street analogy, if the writer owned a Barbing Salon, can he use his daily earnings to pay for his annual rent or even to replace a broken chair or even to expand?? Capital No!!! He will borrow within his limit and pay back as and when due. (2) Comparison with Dubai: Unfortunately, a comparative analysis was not done by the Writer. Dubai is simply where it is today because it copied a Biblical principle in 2 Chronicles 1: 14-17. It turned itself in to a Hub. Traders bring from the Far East; India etc and you from Africa and other locations need not make the long journey to the far East, so they brought buyers and sellers to a marketplace and they benefitted from that convergence. Also, the Europeans saw it as a liberal part of Middle East where they could run away from home during winter for the Sunshine as they consume their beer which they cant do in other sunny parts of Middle East. Most importanly, every Business you see in Dubai is owned by the Emiratis (the Omo Onile; the natives). I repeat every business is OWNED by by the Emiratis. They only allow you the foreigner to use their Business Certificate to operate, so, you bring your own money; your own personnel and set up the business and they get a token for you using their Business Certificate to operate, so everything remains there with them after you leave and lastly, YOU CANNOT NATURALISE WHETHER BY BIRTH OR BY MARRAIGE OR LENGHT OF STAY!!!! Now, can you practise the Dubai model in Lagos under a Federation?? No!!!, so, LAgos has to find another way to develop. (3) LASU fees: The greatest losers i still insist are the students. Anybody who gets trained on less than 100pounds a year and feels he can compete in the marketplace/employment space with better educated uni graduates is fooling him/herself. (Remember, its my opinion which i am entitled to) (4) Water Supply:Though lacking, i myself keep wondering how LASG copes with daily influx of thousnads of other Nigerians daily. No infrastructure can be expanded as fast as migration. None! but is LASG striving? Yes, we see water projects been embarked upon by govt (5) IGR: Is it enough? NO!!!!! For every 1 that pays Tax, 99 do not pay, therefore the IGR is insufficient. Look around your neighbourhood, how many people pay tax there? the bread seller; the maiguard; the barber; the sweet seller and so on. You that pay Tax is the one sustaining the other 99 that dont pay and they keep coming. I have seen hundreds that ran away from North East just hanging around Obalende and parts of Surulere doing nothing but put pressure on existing infrastructure (6) FOI: This is a much misrepresented and misintepreted statement from Fashola. He only stated the letter of the law which exposed a flaw in it and moreso, its an overhyped document which has yeilded less than 0.1% of its efficacy. How should Fashola's statement have been viewed? House of Reps should go back to the drawing board and use Fashola's discovery to tighten the loopholes of FOI, but remember, the Reps are also wary of the FOI bn used against them. Most importantly though, LASG publishes on a quarterly basis the same pieces of info you are using FOI to harrass about but majority of Nigerians are too lazy to research, they would rather make noise and sensationalise. Go here to see how LASG collected and spent your money. http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/DMO_LAW.pdf http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/debt_profile_lagosstate.pdf http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/mepb/LAGOS_Y2014_Q2_Budget%20Appraisal.pdf http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/Y2014Q1Budget%20Appraisal.pdf http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/images/pageimages/downloadfiles/docs/Y2013%20HALF%20YEAR%20Appraisal%20MEPB.pdf http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/images/pageimages/downloadfiles/docs/Y2014%20BUDGET%20ANALYSIS.pdf http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/images/pageimages/downloadfiles/docs/Y2013%20HALF%20YEAR%20Appraisal.pdf http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/images/pageimages/downloadfiles/docs/monthly.pdf |
mikeapollo:I stand to be corrected with facts please, but LASG is by far the most prudent Govt in the whole of Nigeria. Have you heard LASG appointing Special Adviser here and there or Special Assistant here and there? Are you aware that LASG does not buy Aso Ebi; Face Caps; TShirts and such like during State functions? There is a total ban on it from the Gov himself. Are you aware that LASG had banned renting/Hiring of Band to sing National Anthem at their functions. They just sing it with mouth. The Gov himself wrote an article in Thisday about how much is frittered away on such frivolities Are you aware that LASG has agencies of Govt that are self sustaining and even contribute to the purse of the state. Are you aware that LASG has a Number plate making factory and they produce number plates for FRSC within 24hrs? Are you aware that LASG collates prices in all sectors of the economy and you therefore cannot sell them a Laptop of 60k for 600k? See here: http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/images/pageimages/downloadfiles/docs/SPECIALPRICESTATISTICSPUBLICATIONFORDEC2013JANFEB%202014.pdf Are you aware that LASG bought parcels of farmland in Abuja; Oyo; Ogun;Osun state and produce there so as to bring back to Lagos and stabilise prices to ensure social security? Pls, which other PDP state outside SE, has Igbos as Commissioners and heads of Parastatals apart from Lagos State? Pls, if you want to research about Fashola Govt before you start Hyperventilating. Its the best 8years by far in the History of Nigeria |

What ever spin or angle is put on the $9.3m event, whether you produce a shopping list or end user certificate 1 month after, the Actors, whoever they maybe clearly broke the law of another country. Simple & Straight forward!! 2ndly, you encourage deep rooted corruption & other illegal activities when you move so much cash around. Now we see how the Niger Delta Militants and Boko Haram terrorists were freely acquiring weapons. I honestly wonder why GEJ bothered to set up the so called Small Arms Proliferation Committee when he is the one approving under the table arms purchase with cash. As for end user certificate from NSA, is that not who and where the same waiver document came from for importation of Bullet Proof BMWs by Stella Oduah and Coscharis Was it not revealed that Coscharis evaded Tax by not paying custom duties and those cars and also used it to import other cars which he ends up selling at High prices to mugus who come back to hail them all on Nairaland?Nigerians are the ones digging their own graves. Learn from Somalia; Sudan; Libya; Syria and other countries who applauded bad things |
Xetima: I thought Lagos State has a medical college. What is LASU supposed to be doing in medicine?True, LASG has its own medical college but you cant specialise in all areas of medicine and thats why all over the world, different Universities are notable for different areas of medicine & by the way, a private University:- Redeemers University, Redemption Camp, contributed immensely to the fight against Ebola disease led by the much maligned Prof Tomori who was abused for playing scrabble during National Conference. The University has a lab that was used for Ebola Blood screening |
After all said and done, the only way i can forsee the use of this money is the known fact that our military Helicopters were used as Kabu Kabu for the burial ceremony of the father of Oronto Douglas in Bayelsa state and after 14 trips to & from PH, the helicopter crashed with lives lost including the incubent gov of Kaduan state then Yakowa, so, prepare for more misuse of govt property ![]() |
kettykin: Aba economy is actually be bigger than Lagos economy in the long run , no offence meant by it , Aba produces more than 1 Million shoes daily which if priced at between N3000 to N10000 would mean N4b to N10B changing hands in Aba on a daily basis this gives us a rough estimate of between N1440 B to N4000B changing hands in aba per annum , where as lagos has a GDP of $100B or N17000 , if other businesses in Aba is added Aba would be roughly grossing more than N14000 B changing hands per annum where as lagos with all its glory and federal government inputs and patronage is just managing a whopping N17000B GDP Aba a city without federal government support , aid , input with no sea port or river port , no international airport , not even a state capital or regional capital or federal capital or a federal commercial capital is avergaing between N4000B to N10000B on its shoe industry aloneHonestly, i do not understand the Fixation or Comparison with Lagos? What does Abia's GDP have to do with Lagos GDP? What benefit is the size of either states economy to you or I in this matter? If Abia is thriving, thats excellent, thats the desire of every human being. Growth that will translate to good life of its citizen(s) and others but arguing and fighting over whos "farm" is bigger than the other profits no one |
Johnpaul2k2: LASG and Punch Newspaper are just some piece of sh!!tFirst and foremost, LASG has nothing to do wt MMA International Airport. Its owned and run by Fed Govt. As for Punch, they are only reporting views by you and I. As for the Airports, i must say here that becos a lot of Nigerian do not understand Standards, even minimum Standard, they hail every act of mediocrity. I have been to 3 of the remodelled airports and evryone involved from the Minister to the contractors should be in jail for squandering Tax payers money, but some also argue that the contractor might not be at blame for they only worked according to the terms they were given, which is why we have what we have today. Let me give you a simple example of standards. The Toilet Facilities of anywhere that will experience heavy usage must have at least the following at the minimum. Ventilation (Xpelair or Extractor Fans will suffice); Bright Lighting (preferably white flourescent); No Slip Floors; Tiles or Colour of walls that Light the place up; Hard Wearing Wash Hand basins; Extensive use Faucets; Extensive use WCs; Running water etc In the 2 supposedly new toilet i have made the mistake of entering at MMA International Airport (1 @ Arrival & 1 by the Staircase leading to departure). The 2 Toilets do not have any of the minimum standard i just listed. Ventilation? ZERO!!; Bright Lights? Bulbs in Fancy Lamp shades! No Slip Floors?? Marble on the floor that were of diff colours as if they ran out of the main one. Inappropraite for high traffic facility. Tiles or Colour of walls that Light the place up?? Wall Tiles were Brown, i thought i was in a hotel toilet; Hard Wearing Wash Hand basins They had the fancy Oval ones like you have at Nandos Restaurant. Not ideal for Airport; Faucets?? A visit there will convince you. Running water You are asking for too much. There were a couple of gentlemen stationed by the door to attend to your needs in exchange for Naira notes. The Odour?? Your guess is spot on And some people expect us to rain praises on Billions spent on rubbish?? Please please please, instead, we should be demanding from her a refund for squandering our money |
Donmarrius: I have been longing for this. Why do they have to give Lagos a run for her money? Is there a competition? Is there a prize to be won? There are loads of people who thrive in other towns in Nigeria with no tie or whatsoevr to Lagos. Let each location tap & maximise its own resources rather than creating imaginary competition. |
EmoBoy: Have you asked how these funds are being used?Go ahead and tell us. We would like to be educated. Thanks |
EmoBoy: Nigerians will always criticise what they don't understand. There is something called credit enhancement in infrastructure finance. Most foreign investors won't invest in naija because of the risks involved. For example the market risk - The electricity tariffs were too low but the government increased them. Also, Nigerians don't like to pay for anything, so the government promised them they'll repay any shortfall in revenues as a result of the market risk. Its even better here because the money will be repaid to the govt by the companies after they start making a profit in the long run. So let's not criticize what we don't understand.I fully agree with you that we dont & neither do you except you are a beneficiary. Pls recall that we had Aviation Bail out by this same govt of which Jimoh Ibrahim collected over =N=30billion for Air Nigeria, went back to the office and immediately closed the company down on the most ridiculous excuse of disloyalty of staff. Has he been held accountable?? NO! Was there not a Textile bail out fund?? Was there not a Banking Bailout fund? How did it benefit you the bank customer? Increase in Savings interest? or Access to low interest loans. Trillions spent on Railway and it still takes 30 hours from lagos to Kano This govt deserves not to be trusted as all they have done have been scams. Period!!!! |
Honestly, i am extremely worried with our Security apparatus in this country. Only a few days before this Chad trip, the DSS woman came on National TV absolving the former COAS of sponsoring Boko Haram but categorically stated that Sheriff is under their investigation & we went to bed believing that he would be under surveilance and his movements restricted but alas, we were just bn fooled. 2ndly, if DSS were doing tracking him and the same DSS were also in possession of GEJ's itinery, should they not have alerted GEJ's Aide de Camp or did the advance team on ground not see Sheriff lining up on the tarmac before GEJ disembarked? At that point they wld have radioed the plane to get clarifications before GEJ stepped out and the Chadian President through his own ADC wld hv bn told that his visitor is uncomfortable wt Sheriff bn there. Sheriff will politely have needed the toilet 3rdly, what does it matter that Sheriff is the Chadian President bosom friend, what if he meant GEJ harm? Is this the type of old wives' tale Presidency will be giving us? Presidency should learn to admit their blunders and move on and ensure it doesnt repeat itself And after having said all, GEJ has a lot to be blamed for this. He can insist to the Chadian President that Sheriff be excused, but rated, he was smiling like a Chesire Cat ![]() |
Pages 43 & 44 should provide info about how Lagos State is dealing with the debts http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/mepb/LAGOS_Y2014_Q2_Budget%20Appraisal.pdf |
brownlord: Just like lagosians are the boss and Tinubu is the servant, even thou Tinubu has ruled Lagos for close to 16 years with little or nothing to show for it, by increasing school fees and frustrating ordinary citizen out of the institution only to reduce it now election is drawing near. Please tell me what manner of education you will receive on a school fees of 87Pounds Sterling or $147per annum How do you want to compete with others who have received quality education when its time for Job seeking? |
Whilst people say PDP and APC are 2 sides of the same coin and therefore no difference, what worries me is the inability of Nigerians to accept the pathetically poor govts we have at all levels. We the people should be the main opposition through respective pressure groups like NLC; NBA; NMA; NANS; NUTRW etc but unfortunately, govt at al levels have used money to decimate all these groups. Whichever one of us who agrees that any govt has done well is totally devoid of any standard in his/her life. The basic needs of any human being has not been given thorough policy consideration by any govt and i quote any govt. I know people are quick to reel out the perceived achievements of GEJ but my response is at what cost. You spend 1000% on what you require 10% to provide and you are applauded. His decision making lacks any form of depth and he is applauded SAD!!!Coming down to the so called Performing Govs, i have used a particular road in a prominent area for 16 years and the road is destructive and yet, we hail them. The bottomline is we are our own Natural disaster & until each of us, me inclusive make a demand on our leaders to do the right thing, there will be no country to lead in the nearest future. So, what should we do? Go to your local govt office and demand to know why services you pay tax for are not bn supplied. By the time they receive repeated visit from us regurlary, they will wake up |
You pay Peanuts; You get Monkeys. Be ready to receive the quality of education propotional to fees you pay and gear yourself to bear the consequences when employment eludes you or employers avoid you in future |
filiks: Did you really follow the so called "failed drivers license" story? If you did, can anyone blame it on the FRSC boss?Who should i blame? Me that paid thousands of naira for a plastic card and undelivered service? If you cant manage and suceed in what you dont have any competitor, then you are a failure. The relative success of the swift obtaining of number plates is largely due to the efficiency of Lagos State govt agency that produces the number plates for FRSC as they see it not only as a service but as a business. Pls; pls; pls, there is no excuse for failure on the drivers' license matter. The main bottleneck has been the data capture but for crying out loud, the British High Commision and USA embassy do over 1,000 data capture each a day, so its not rocket science. And please, what goes into producing plastic cards that would cost each applicant thousands of naira Plain extortion!!!! |
Cuche: Mr Chidoka? Goodluck get sense whalahiHonestly, am aghast at the standard of measurement in Nigeria these days. A man who oversaw a FAILED drivers' license exercise for which FRSC has total monopoly is bn described as "did well??" SMH ![]() |
5thNOTE: there are many things going on in this country o. I wandered why the parents of the victims were never heard of. Imagine bribing the parents of the school children who sank in south korea. Nigerians a waooParents of children never heard of?? Obviously, you have not seen a Traumatised person. And for your info, the Foreign News media eventually had access to and interview a couple of them. See TVC interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_m1dsRF9kOo |
cocoduck: Leave that thing. I wasn't born today. I was born a very very long time ago. I know Nigeria's political class very well.Okay, lets leave all that alone but in sincerity, how would you have handled this Abduction menace if you were in charge or are you one of those who believe its a ruse? or was it the foreign media that made a whole Brig General lie that Nigeria Army had rescued the girls on National TV when that was outright falsehood and misrepresentation? |
cocoduck: Total rubbish. was she not among obasanjo's cabinetGo and check her record in OBJ's cabinet when she was in Due Process; Ministry of Solid Minerals and Ministry of Education. The facts speak for themselves. Dont also forget that she was the one that demanded from Lamido Sanusi & Ngozi Iweala to explain how Billions of $ disappeared from Excess Crude Account whcih led to NOI saying it was shared by states and Rotimi Ameachi countering that he as gov never consented to the sharing. Okupe tried to rattle her by casting aspersions on her budgets as Ministers and she challenged all of them to an open TV debate to scrutinize her spending in govt. Of course govt backed down becos they had nothing on her and thats why they are still running helter skelter to scuttle #Bringbackourgirls as they cant pin anything on her. She no be chop i chop woman o! She no need govt money o...she no poor when she enter govt o |
Guyman02: Spot on: Many of us who have followed the CIA inspired Arab Spring protests and the most recent one in Ukraine for 'Regime Changes' in the middle east knew that the Chibok protests were not genuine and had foreign interference and interests. The all important question is, did you have the level of first hand information you have now about Chibok; Borno and Boko Haram devastation before Foreign media came to expose it? 2ndly, a few months before then, some secondary school boys were slaughthered in their dormitory and others abducted. Has our govt sought to recover them No!!!, which then gave strenght to the Boko Haram to come back for more which led to d abduction of the girls and the outcry. In all your conspiracy theories from the comfort of your location, are you aware that there are Nigerian children in refugee camps for over 1 year in border towns with Nigeria who have been displaced by Boko Haram? We only knew this because SkyNews went to the Camerounian side to report from there because i suspect that they are no longer granted access to Borno State, they showed Borno from across the Cameroun border in that footage. The shock there is that Nigerian children displaced for over 1 year have never been reported about nor givien any aid by Nigerian or Borno govt and these children were seen on TV starting their day in school singing the Camerounian Anthem but a lot of you dont care as long as the conspiracy theories suit you. Shame. Talking about oil, Nigeria does not mean anything to USA in terms of Oil. USA started reducing their oil purchase from Nigeria over time as they had a plan in place unlike we that just squander ours and right now, USA shall become an Exporter of Oil and you are ranting about Lake Chad Basin. Nigeria is in the top 10 of GAS reserves in the world but we would rather use NIMASA to squeeze NLNG who had to eventually declare Force Majuere |
chronique: We shouldn't be too quick in countering her statement without putting her reasoning to test. What if the DSS planted moles amongst the "bringbackourgirls" protesters there,to find out what's going on there? Let's not forget we're talking about the spokesperson for our secret service here;they probably must have done a few checks,to know what's going on. This is Nigeria where just about anything is possible. You do not need a mole to know what #Bringbackourgirls is all about. All their activities are open for all to see and participate. Read through their twitter handle and you would understand their mindset and i can tell you categorically that every single KOBO donated to and spent by #Bringbackourgirls is detailed to the last kobo and can be accessed if you ask for it. Oby Ezekwesili does not give a hoot to all your accusations by FG, this woman has been like this since i first met her in 1992...it is not in her DNA to thief anybody's money. She is one of the most principled Nigerians you can ever come across. As for Madam Ogar, her seating posture on TV yesterday at the press conference says it all. |
