Opexzy: The last nysc camp was a bad and ill-advised idea. It was too early for such activity, considering how an average Nigerian behaves (both the corps and the institution)
Interestingly, it is not. It is actually a very good idea as these corpers would never have presented themselves for testing if they were not compelled.
2ndly, a large number of people are Asymtomatic and will not fall ill to COVID becos of their immune system but they will spread to others who are unsuspecting
I am just laughing reading the comments here as i attended Uni of Ibadan & till today, after decades of leaving school, they still cant produce my transcript. They said the results from my dept are missing for a particular year, hence, they cant put it all together again. Na only degree certificate i fit show for my 4 years in Uni
ceejayluv: So nobody has ever survived an ak47 bullet??
Read well! At CLOSE range!!
Read about bullet wounds please.
AK47 bullets move through a human body and comes out cleanly on the other side and can enter and exit an extra 2 people directly behind the victim.
Death is inevitable if it passes through a vital organ but survival is common if it enters an are with mass of flesh like the thigh or buttocks but will break any bone found within that mass
Farki: This has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever read on this forum.
Go and collect one & come back and tell the story & we shall know who is stupid.......................that is what happens when you watch too much film
yaki84: How did yaradua and gej navigate Nigeria and Nigerians out of the 2009 global economic recession? Without borrowing or getting incessant loans from developed nations? How How How?
This recession is never like this ever seen before because EVERY country in the world is affected at the same time! The magnitude of it shall be felt for the next 5 years because the world has lost a huge amount of manpower as millions of professionals and entreprenuers have DIED. Rebuilding again when critical staff have died is not easy on any economy, so right now, countries are more interested in preserving their lives than taking export from each other, so, if you are not trading becos you cant, you have to either borrow or rely on the little savings you have
yaki84: How did yaradua and gej navigate Nigeria and Nigerians out of the 2009 global economic recession? Without borrowing or getting incessant loans from developed nations? How How How?
They did absolutely nothing!! We crawled out of that recession just as we went in.
Let me explain the sequence to you.
First and Foremost, ours was a self inflicted recession, it had nothing to do with 2009 Global economic recession.
The Global one started in 2008 in USA & it was a Housing/Mortgage crisis (Lehman Brothers; FannyMae etc) & the Stock markets suffered & lost value; then it affected Europe; then Asia; then Middle East with a lot of abandoned properties in Dubai.
By the time it went round each continent is sequence, Obama had become President & PUMPED BILLIONS OF DOLLARS into road and bridges construction as it has multiplier effect and threw money at research into solar business and USA began to come out of recession (mind u, it was so bad that pple lost their houses and were sleeping in their cars), the U.K came out of it slowly, then Asia & Middle East. Nigeria was in no way affected by theis Global Economic Recession because we were not running a Credit system...................it was Credit gone bad that sunk the developed world.
Coming back to Nigeria. Our recession was self inflicted & it was simply GREED!!!! The stock market was a Casino!!! banks manipulating and publishing false annual reports and accounts; insider trading, share price manipulation, unsecured credit given by banks to buy shares. IT WAS A MASSIVE BUBBLE & it was replicated in the property market where the profits from stocks were used to buy properties at any amount.
THEN THE FOREIGN HEDGE COMPANIES DUMPED SHARES; TOOK PROFIT & TOOK OFF TO USE THEIR LOOT TO BUY PROPERTIES IN USA THAT WERE NOT 1/10TH OF ORIGINAL PRICE.
So, technically, our economy just found itself where it should have been and then crawled back again
justebuka: Urgent: Please All Gradauate Of sociology Where Are You Working Now
am a student of uniport dep of sociology I initially wanted law b4 waec then i changed my min during jamb Please how good is sociology and as a graduate where are you working And which jobs is promising to us
I took an Elective in Sociology and i can tell you that it was the most eye-opening course i ever took. It has helped me all my life to understand behavioral patterns in society & most importantly during the COVID19 lockdown.
Sociologist are extremely important to advise govts at such a time like this that society is adversely impacted & can lead to multiple types of deviant behavior; suicidal tendencies etc
FFK is entitled to hustle for contracts and patronage from impressionable Governors but his inability as a Lawyer to utilise the question/statement in his favour exposes his unsavoury character trait.
If true that his security aide approached the journalist, then we have an overzealous ill trained force.
We are very wasteful people as SPU on the cap of the police stands for Special Protection Unit that are given to protect individuals at a damn expensive amount.
I can call it a Yoruba company because the owner is more yoruba than some yoruba people.
Fantastic gentleman.........................some people wont know his hustle started many years ago as far back as 26 years ago when he used to supply CDs for recording Church messages for sale. God bless your hustle my Brother!!!!
winkmart: A video making the rounds on social media has shown the moment some Nigerian ladies stranded in Lebanon called on the Nigerian government to assist them in coming back home.
This is not rocket science na♂️Every national and state assembly and local govt member should contribute just 1million naira from their constituency allowance to organise flights to bring them home.
Once they arrive, their biometrics should be obtained to have them properly registered and National ID given to them.
Oh, i forgot the Govs' security votes....100m each don solve the problem.
(2) They have bn isolated for 2 weeks and shown no symptoms. I wint be suprised if they were tested.
(3) The house is a controlled environment, therefore the likelihood of infection is minimal.
(4) In the event that one of them has COVID19, contact tracing is much easier
(5) NBC should have used BB9JA as an awareness campaign about COVID19 since it has a large captive audience.
There are millions of houses in nigeria where more than 20 live together in 1 compound, mingling with potential COVID19 carriers. Are those ones not more difficult to deal with than these in a sealed up environment?
fairfora: RIP sir. He was the founder of Standard Breweries Ltd at Alomaja Village in ibadan, the brewers of Club Beer..who remembers Club Lager Beer? my uncle was one of the line managers before the company packed up. I worked in his standard packaging Ltd (a woven sacks and plastics division) briefly after my SSCE in this days while awaiting admission.
He also founded standard flower Mills, standard biscuits,Dr Pepper among others. I waited for his Aramed Centre built in memory of his mum to come on steam so I could work there, which could have been the largest and the best-equipped private hospital in Nigeria at that time ,located on entering ibadan after solelbonel quarry. Unfortunately he abandoned the project after the wards and building was completed for the reason best known to him. I hope his children would make it happen.
ARAMED Hospital was never put to use even though completed because quarry activities on the neighbourhood was cracking their walls hence dangerous for operation
Omoejigbahe: 2years for a road that is less than 10km, Tinubu's company will increase the initial cost at least twice before completing the road. This road shouldn't take more than 6months. Radarada
Terrain is why it will take that long. The road is bn built on swamp and water area, so there will be a lot of reclamation; sand filling; compacting and concrete works
ThierryJay: Tests are key to knowing the true status of the extent of the infection and managing the spread. With one of the lowest testing ratios in the world, our CoVID 19 management statistics are a complete farce!
To put this into perspective, if Ghana were to have tested less than 5,000 people like NIgeria, they'd probably only have less than 100 cases, and then they'd be falsely happy about the low spread of the disease.
With 10 recorded COVID deaths in Nigeria coupled with about 2 unofficial deaths (making a total of at least 12), our actual level of infection (as at two weeks ago) could be around 900 - 1200 cases when taking the 1% - 1.5% average death rate into account. Right now, with an average infection rate per person of 2.5 - 3Ro (i.e one person infects 2.5 to 3 people on the average), we might be looking at up to 2,500 - 3,500 cases currently in Nigeria. I'm not a prophet of doom but these are logical reasons for everyone to take the lockdown more seriously to break the cycle of infection!
To be honest with you, i dont know why people are so fixated with this Covid-19 testing? Must we follow the joneses blindly?
Nigeria is among the capital of infectious diseases world wide with such, as Chickenpox; Yellow Fever; Lassa Fever; TB and in the earlier decades; Measles; Small pox etc. Please tell me which one, we ever carried out virology tests for
The standard is that you feel ill, you then present yourself to a clinic or hospital; they 1st test & treat you for malaria. If symptoms persist, they then test for other things like typhoid & when tired of your case, refer you to General hospital or Teaching hospital depending on your proximity.
By this time, you have drank so many different medicine that you end up not knowing the one that cured you.
In all of this, the nurses and Doctors attended to you without gloves; facemask or PPE but they end up not contracting any disease.
If you know any other process different from the above, you can then see why our health system does not feel they should spend so much testing.
GamalNasser: NIGERIANS pastors are part of the problem we have , of all the things and people to pray for you choose to pray for an Islamic fundamentalist polygamist
They grew up together as teenagers in Kings College Lagos, so there is no ethnic or religious barrier between them.
But do we have broadcast companies that have the finances to compete with DSTV for say, broadcast rigths for Premiership??
HITV failed because in the end they could not compete with the financial juggernaut of DSTV.
Point of correction: HITV failed because they offered and paid much higher than what DSTV pays. DSTV were unable to show us Premiership for at least 2 good years within which 2 major things happened (1) HITV, without the viewership numbers made an incredible loss (2) DSTV widened their local content base by introducing Yoruba film channel as Nollywood had more viewership than sports, so they offered more products to an already captive markets. Other indigenous channels on DSTV surfaced thereafter.
nairavsdollars: Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos Since assumption of office in May 2019, Governor Seyi Makinde has left no one in doubt that indeed, he is a professional in politics whose interest in politics is to offer selfless service for the state widely regarded as the ‘Pace Setter’ state. Though a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the governor has won the admiration of many including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with his style of governance. It has indeed become a global knowledge that the governor has become a reference point for governance not just in the South West but across Nigeria.
Makinde’s election as the governor of Oyo state can be attributed to divine providence. First, internal wrangling within the then ruling party in the state played a huge role in his success. His predecessor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, a man who paraded himself as a little tin god had offended many people in the state through his caustic tongue and unpopular policies.
The situation was further compounded by the crisis between him and Adebayo Shittu, the immediate past Minister of Communications who was hell-bent on succeeding Ajimobi. After being disqualified from participating in the governorship primary by the Adams Oshiomhole-led NWC, Shittu and his supporters decided to work against the party’s interests and this helped Makinde’s chances to a great deal.
Also, for the first time in the history of the state, some coalition of forces who are fed up with Ajimobi’s leadership style and believed that Makinde has a lot to offer the state decided to collapse their political structures for him. Notable politicians like Senator Rashidi Ladoja, a key player in Ibadan politics, Sharafadeen Ali of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Senator Olufemi Lanlehin of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Bolaji Ayorinde of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) all threw their weight behind Makinde . He also got the endorsement of the state chairman of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Akin Fasogbon.
Determined to hit the ground running, the governor has launched the four key pillars of his administration including Education, Health, Economy, and Security, hitting peak achievements on all fronts. From basic welfare of the workers and pensioners; to cancellation of N3, 000 education levy and the fees for entrance forms into Junior secondary and Technical colleges; to payment of gratuities to retirees from 2010; approval of car and housing loans for workers; payment of workers’ salaries not exceeding the 25th of every month and foundational flag-off of landmark projects at the Health and Education fronts.
One notable feature that distinguished Makinde apart from other governors is the issue of appointments of professionals who have distinguished themselves in their various fields to come and join hands with him in taking the state to the next level. In fact, the governor publicly admitted that he had to go to some of these individuals and beg them to come and serve in his government, without asking them about their political leanings. Some of these appointees are Fatai Owoseni, former Commissioner of Police in Lagos and Benue States, who was appointed by the Governor as his Special Adviser on Security Matters.
Others include Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo, a former Dean Of the University of Lagos Law Faculty who is currently the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the State. He also appointed Taiwo Adisa, a former Group Politics Editor of Tribune newspapers, who had also served as Special Assistant (Media Relations) to former President of the Senate, Senator Adolphus Wabara between 2003 and May 2005 as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS). Also worthy of mention is the appointment of Jide Ajani, former Sunday Editor of Vanguard newspapers as the Special Adviser on Media.
Speaking on his mission and vision for the people of the state, Makinde said “My vision is to make Oyo State the fastest growing economy in Nigeria. To achieve this end, we have to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. That is why one of the two Executive Bills we have so far, transmitted to the Oyo State House of Assembly is the Oyo State Investment Promotion Agency Bill. The bill is to initiate, promote and facilitate investments in the state”.
Affirming that his sole aim of seeking political power is to serve the people, he said “My life is a long-distance race. I run, mostly no for fame or fortune but for a cause. I know this concept might be alien to a lot of people. In my over five decades on earth, I have met many people whose only goal in life is to become wealthy and famous. I have also seen how unhappy some of them have turned out to be.”
“I am a marathoner, physically and metaphorically. With every sense of modesty, I admit that many consider me a traiIbIazer who is inspiring a new generation of Oyo people to aspire to a life beyond their present realities.
“People often ask me what drives my personal, professional and political passions. What keeps me running? I hope I have shown over time that my ultimate goal is to serve humanity with all the resources God has endowed me. Service to humanity is the number one driving force in my life. I firmly believe in the adage which says that when a man sends a gift to the market, the market will reward him with a gift in return.”
The Governor further declares that his believe in generosity and philanthropy derives from innate attributes that ensure he sees life as an avenue to help others live.
He stated: “My life values of philanthropy and generosity are evident to everyone. I have always been a great ambassador of myseIf, my family and my Oyo State. There is the likelihood that I will be spoken of glowingly even by my political opponents, a testament to my character and Values.
“I know the reputation that politicians have earned in Nigeria. I make bold to say that I am not your typical Nigerian politician. My political career has not been (and I promise that I will not be) tainted by thuggery or financial malfeasance. I come with my vaIues.
“Philosophers have long postulated about life and what gives life meaning. For me, the joy of living, what gives my life direction and drives my passions, is not accumulating material wealth but the giving to the people that I Love and care about, the experiences that having wealth often facilitates.”
“My vision of the future of Oyo State starts and ends with people. We will have a State that provides the right services through the right channels and at the right time.
“We will make the effort to identify succinctly the needs and wants of our people and employ evidence to deliver better outcomes. As some experts claim, if states responding to citizens’ needs was the old standard, our new operational philosophy will be to anticipate.
“Our future in Oyo State is now. We will have a Government that is accountable, transparent, productive, effective and efficient. We will move from “sick care” to the wellness of our people- through acute forces on education, health and economic posterity-so we can achieve live changing outcomes.” https://www.independent.ng/makinde-bringing-professionalism-to-governance-in-oyo/
Please what exactly have you said here? 18 paragraphs, and only one paragraph talks about normal activities of governance. Is it now an achievement to pay salaries as and when due? Are pensioners not entitled to their money? What is the big deal in stoppage of sale of forms once there is provision to the schools for such anyway.
Problem is that the bar of citizens' understanding of governance is so low, that any thing becomes an achievement
There is no need for fight. Infact, they have just shored up Innoson's brand identity.
You can have a Corporate brand and also have different product brands around it.
How would i use both? The 2nd guy's own on the front grill and the sharp looking one by the 1st guy by the door of a new range of maybe sports or limited edition car
Elose11: This is a list from an experienced and non vindictive politician. Unlike the Gbaja guy whose list was very vindictive abd childish. Unfortunately, I see Oshomhole and tinubu plotting the Senate president, Lawan's, impeachment soonest.
This is a list settling themselves with more of your commonwealth. Every single Senator is either a Chairman or a Vice Chairman. They created more committees to accommodate them all which means more expenses as each committee member earns extra allowance with Chair and Vice earning more.
Even fresh Senators are Chairmen! We have perfected the art of settling! One day one day, brokeness shall reset our brains
Chat bot that provides me with no useful metrics is a waste of money.
I want to know how sittings each senator attended.
I want to know each bill each senator put forward
I want to know which senator voted for what bill
I want to know the committees that each senator belongs to and how many times he/she attended
I want to know who was absent the days Senate President went to court ( Easy, because each date is known and it will just compare it with attendance of those same dates)
The information it is currently providing can be found on google
Dear Nigerians, Please do not kill yourself over the assets of the Vice President of Nigeria. The man has owned a stake in MTN Nigeria for many years and with this listing of shares alone, he has become a BILLIONAIRE.
Did he acquire MTN stakeholding with Govt money? NO!
Did he become wealthier in Govt as a result of MTN? YES!
Are you going to come on Social media and curse him and his generation because he's wealthier?
Are you going to learn a lesson from his story and go and make your own investment. It will surely yield good returns in future just like it is turning the V.p into a Billionaire now.
VICE PRESIDENT OSINBAJO SUBMITS ASSETS DECLARATION FORMS
Ahead of the oath-taking ceremony slated for tomorrow, 29 May 2019 and in compliance with the requirement of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has submitted his assets declaration forms to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
The submission by the Vice President follows right after President Muhammadu Buhari submitted his forms.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Research, Legal and Compliance Matters, Office of the Vice President, Dr. Balkisu Saidu, submitted the completed forms to the Chairman of the CCB, Professor Mohammed Isa, on behalf of the Vice President.
Compared with the assets Prof. Osinbajo declared in 2015, the forms show no significant changes in his assets; as there are no new real properties, shareholding or bank accounts.

clarocuzioo: Honestly speaking APC is evil. The type of wicked politics they have brought into the system will hurt this country for decades. I read the submission of the CJN in defence of those petty allegations, and I wept for this country. His defence was comprehensive with verifiable facts , highly logical and reasonable, and you wonder why the executive will even initiate this process in the first place.
Now look at the rubbish being written up there. Look at how they put it " The opening of a dollar account in Standard Chartered Bank for the CJN by a lawyer, Joe Agi, with $30,000 was said to be unhealthy." First of all this simply a domicilliary account that commoners have these days, is what they are making an issue for a CJN having.
Secondly, look at how they are making noise about $30K, while Osibanjo has such account with a balance of $900K , Osibanjo that was a mere commissioner for justice compared to the CJN?, Hypocrisy.
What I am sure is the evil politics being played by APC will still turn back and hurt them, Rochas and Amosun can attest to that.
When you are sent to school and you refuse to learn, its in public like this you show your illiteracy.
How can you compare Osinbajo and CJN dollar money? How?? It is publicly documented that (1) Osinbajo worked in the Hague (2) Worked for UN Peace Keeping force (3) MTN shareholder and lastly (4) received millions of dollars for winning case against Pfizer on behalf of Kano State govt.
Pls go and read and educate those who have bn clicking like for you so that you all don't continue peddling ignorance
