Politics › Re: 2015: CPC Wants Sanusi As Presidential Candidate by hakanai(m): 5:28pm On Sep 18, 2012
Deprofessional: I have said it and will continue to say it; I will never vote any candidate from the core north. Not in this life nor the next. Not after what they did to my brothers and sister in the aftermath of 2011 elections; the gory sight of murdered youth corp members, the deaths unleashed by boko haram nursed by buhari, atiku, ibb, and marwa, will forever remain green in my memory.

I just hope that the American prophesy of 2015 will soon come to pass. Whatever we will gain by being one Nigeria, we will gain more by severing any ties with the Muslim north who are largely illiterates.

Why didn't the moslem yorubas riot in protest of the american video considered offensive to mohammed? The answer is simply, Yorubas are educated unlike the moronic, moslem north. Honestly, the day other regions of Nigeria realizes that the problem of Nigeria is the North, and take far reaching steps to either push them out or move out from them, the better.

Many hold this view.
Like wise i shall never vote your type or anyone that shares you view

Buhari it is a good thing you did, that you choose to keep your words not to run and also support a new generation in the affairs of Nigeria's leadership.I do not agree with CPC position on a partial merger and grooming of suspicion amongst the alliance. It's far better to go the whole hug and take your chances in the merger. You will have nothing to loose. Its better to merger and resolve your differences in house than a partial merger. You should know that Rome was not built in a day and in any form of grouping or teaming,Differences/conflicts are bound and only a collective resolve to give and take would take you there. Because without this i see you two losing votes from voters who are confused.
Now forget all this we can't trust them or all that Sanusi imposition.I am of the opinion you sit down look at issues and work together in a formidable alliance. If you most know PDP is already panicking over this merger.Meaning it poses a serious treat to there political ambition. For PDP to even mention and complain it won't work or they have no fear about it ,says alot.
Divided you two will crumble.Together you stand a chance.Throw away ethnic and silly childish sentiments. The people who have covert membership with PDP will do there best to even cause rancor. you should prove them wrong. Also if you see it through i can tell you people that flee the rank of your parties are the real enemies and the PDP spies who will not want things to change so as to give the PDP an edge.
You have tried it alone. You have tried regional and you have tried other methods of failed alliance. Why not allow this work so you see what will become of it.Its more than ACN and CPC.Its about Nigeria. So all these party elements spewing nonsense sentiments have to stop. Its not about them alone or there greedy quest.
Even thought i feel this tribune story could have being manufactured to put issues that may cause doubts.I maintain you halt the Sanusi for president crap and focus on the merger. There is still time to sort the candidate issue collectively later. The merger seems more in dare need of attention than candidate selection. Also will you allow a known PDP candidate/GEJ buddy just get the presidential ticket over CPC or ACN candidates who have being loyal?I say let the Sanusi thing go and look from within your merger. That's if the tribune is reporting facts about the party.

2015 Elections: Wait for your turn, Bamanga Tukur tells opposition parties
SHARE THIS

If the saying of the National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) is anything to go by, then the opposition political parties would have to work very hard, to establish firm grip at the Federal level.

PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur told journalists in Abuja that his party is not done yet with providing leadership at the national level.

He also speaks about the party’s plans for 2015 and to make this claim a reality, the national chairman took a giant stride as he decided to re-engineer the wheel of progress of the leading party in Nigeria and part of his reform was to appeal to aggrieved members of the party who defected to other political parties to return as he promised prospective returnees a special arrangement by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP that will assign special roles to them in the party’s reform agenda.

He said the party has been leading the country since 1999 and it is not ready to relinquish power to any opposition party for now so he advised that the party should remain indivisible and indissoluble as he pleaded to members who are aggrieved and left the party for opposition parties to re-join the ruling party so as to be part of the re-building process of Nigeria as all hands are needed to do so.

The party chairman said he accepted to lead the party not to acquire fame or fortune, but to give back to Nigeria much of what the country had offered him.

Alhaji Bamanga Tukur who spoke to newsmen at his Abuja residence during the occasion of his 77th birthday, called on party members and the Nigerian people to support the transformation agenda of the Jonathan administration.

He said the PDP would soon engage its founding fathers, elders and other stakeholders in the task of rebuilding the party through reconciliation, based on equity and justice.

The PDP chair ruled out automatic tickets for members in the 2015 general elections, insisting that merit, record of performance and credibility of political office seekers would be the yardstick for determining access to power at all levels.

The National Chairman also promised that PDP will reclaim the states it lost in previous polls in the 2015 general elections.

If you look deeper you could see that people use this medium to vent there anger. Also alot of people would rather just use it to gauge perception on issues that affect from the different view of persons.
The biggest mistake is people who assume it is generally or widely applicable in the Nigerian real scenario. Some may be applicable but a significant number is typical of media rantings. If we also are observant some people try to use it to sow discord and damn others. Some also use it to sway support on issues.More like granting straight and free access to persons to manipulate information and perceptions (propaganda) against peoples and groups. So don't eat all you read.
Just have fun, observe and learn.People have varying opinions.Others lack manners. It keeps going!!! moderators are trying but need to look deeper to curb the excesses of users.I don't know how limits, mutual respect and courtesy can be enforced.NL use to be wonderful and intelligent forum.Simply cause people had respect, chat intelligently and even help caution persons on extreme comments.Today it has changed. It's like a free for all and if you even try to correct someone or make sense about issues. You get damning insults, accusations and bias gang up along ethnic and religious lines. So users, moderators and owners of NL have to come up with more policy to manage users.Sanity needs to be restored. For instance we As Nigerians spend 80% of our time insulting leaders (especially GEJ) and country/Countrymen.rarely do we have productive or solution based chats.SO what is the aim of NL and what is the goals of the NLers? What is in for the nation as NL and NLers become one?

naptu2: You could try contacting Alhaji Saleh Bayeri. He's the secretary general of the Miyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association.

You could also try contacting Dr. Aliyu U. Tilde (he's on facebook, twitter and other online forums). He represented the Fulani nomads in negotiations with the military (see link below)
https://www.nairaland.com/992133/fulani-agree-leave-villages-after

However, your best bet, as mikolo80 said, is to contact the Federal or state ministries of agriculture.

Make sure you double check the credibility and background of anybody you deal with.
This advice should do if you truly want directions to the grassroots. This people lead an organization that cares and networks strongly wit a lot of fulanis Africa wide. So its very easy to reach the fulani man. Use there elders above for a start. Usually where ever they are exist a local chief they call the ardo.who is also linked to there network. They maybe normadic and all that, without doubt they are highly organised so reaching them shouldn't be hard.

Acidosis: ^ ^ fabulous explanations, though Buhari is "no, no" for me.
I like Buhari and support Buhari,But my choice for the future now has shifted especially looking at age on his side.He should be an elder states man.If God permits us we need generational change and political change from one party state.Allow a new age of people to champion the fate of the people in Nigeria.Amongst all that were listed i can single out Fashola. That said i also see some people with proven abilities in the SE apart from other zones.Every section of Nigeria has a spark and all we need to do is ensure they are brought to the fore front of change and true transformation.mark is not fair in my opinion. He has a track record of clinging to power and irregularities (typical of persons like Obj and Atiku etc).Lets allow people with good intentions, patriotism, rule of law and ideas come forward.

Acidosis: From all indications, the people of the core north, west, and eastern part of the country are already targetting the presidential seat come 2015. (The likes of Fashola, Okorocha, Buhari etc).

Some may not understand the tricks, whims, carjoles and caprices of these tribalistic and ethnic vampires but plssss for the future of the north central region, lets not succumb to any of these people.

Never you believe that "f00lish" statement that says "Nigeria is one". Nigeria is only one on the geographical map. Thanks to Flora shaw for calling us Nigerians, however she'll be regretting her efforts wherever she is now.

The past leaders have underdeveloped the region all because we don't have much oil to paint their dry lips.. not forgetting the vast mineral resources wasting on and below our ground.

I must commend President GEJ, atleast for sitting 2 universities at a time in the region. He's the best man so far.. but is that what we really need at this point in time?

In Nigeria, I've learned that "It is better to vote for a sick man from your place, than a healthy man from another region" (I quote that without no regret)

Never you believe a Governor is better than any Governor from the north central. some states only have much & more money/allocations cos of the much attention given to their oil by the F.G and some others working on inherited past glory. so there is absolutely no reason why any sensible literate/illiterate governor would not build mansions, hospitals, roads.

Now you see the reason why we also need that President who would give us much attention/favoritism/special treatment for the tin, petroleum, coal, iron ore, limestone etc..
LMAO !!! who are you to suggest such? what votes do you control and what block can you pull/align to your cause.A tree can not make a forest and making peace with all around you is inevitable.living in isolation can not make it good for you.So you better wake up.There is more to it than sycophancy, nepotism and lust for corrupt money.

Me think the oil largely belongs to Anambra. Considering the investment on the Igbo side of Anambra by orient. With that said the Kogi or Igala owners of there own oil fields should simply invest in a refinery shikenan!!! So that the resources under the ground in there territory is there own.Because left for me even in partnership,i think the Anambra people are investing more and deserve more claims.QED!!!! If the oil was left untapped there would have being no revenue or oyel to sale.
Orient and her partners put in more than a people who simply walk on the resources untapped and claim the earth.I am not dismissing the rights of the Kogi people on something from it but i feel they shouldn't expect too much especially since they are not the ones mining and spending there money/capital to tap this resource.

Politics › ESUT VC : Ransom Demand Of N200M by hakanai(op): 7:51am On Aug 18, 2012
ESUT: We’ll Not Negotiate with Abductors of Our VC

Three days after his kidnap by yet-to-be identified gunmen while on his way to work, the whereabouts of the Vice Chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Prof Cyprian Onyeji remained unknown as at press time yesterday; even as the institution’s authorities said it would not engage in any form of negotiation with the suspected kidnappers.

This is coming even as THISDAY checks revealed that two out of the three policemen who sustained gunshot injuries in the gun duel with the kidnappers before the Vice chancellor was eventually abducted were yesterday discharged from the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital.

Briefing newsmen at the College of Medicine Auditorium of the ESUT Teaching Hospital, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Aloysius Uzoagulu said information reaching them showed that the kidnappers were already in touch with the Vice Chancellor’s family and had made some ransom demand of two hundred million naira (N200 million) but insisted that the university would not be involved.

He said everything about the negotiation had been left between the kidnappers and the vice chancellor’s family, stressing that their only involvement would be to unite in prayers for his release.

"The family is already handling the matter and we cannot go ahead of the family. The wife; the children and other close relatives are there and are working hard to secure his release. We can’t negotiate with the kidnappers. In other such cases, government has never been involved; it is usually left for the family of the kidnapped person to discuss with them and this cannot be an exception," he said.

While calling on public spirited individuals to get close to the family at this trying time to console them, Uzoagulu said "the situation at present is that our beloved vice chancellor who was kidnapped on Wednesday has not regained freedom and we’ve it on good authority that he is alive and well but as to whether the kidnappers have reduced the ransom demand, it is only the wife that can answer that because we are not involved".

On the reported indefinite strike action embarked upon by the various labour unions in the university in solidarity with the family of the kidnapped vice chancellor, the DVC noted that the workers merely downed tools on the first day of the kidnap as a result of the shock when the story about the kidnap filtered into the school.

He however said although normal academic activities are expected to resume by next week Wednesday, workers of the university still converge at the permanent site of the institution at Agbani in Nkanu West local government area to engage in prayers for the vice chancellor.

Well this looks nice.I also think the map may have some adjustment as some states may split an you would see some sort of realignment to try and form more larger nations. It is an option i think could be likely. What ever be the case all parties must agree to form a reliable and progressive nation. Not forcefully massing up nations.meaning an agreement on terms for union and other things should be put forward clearly and spelt out too all parties who form any new borders so as to avoid internal wranglings. Anyway as it is now i look forward to it. cool cool cool cool cool.
Politics › Re: Major Declaration Of Independent Bakassi Will Soon Be Made by hakanai(m): 5:13am On Aug 18, 2012
supereagle: By Johnbosco Agbakwuru, Calabar
Home my home o my home, when shall I see my home, when shall I see my native land, I will never forget my home! This is the song going on now as we see Abana two pools away. We shall soon send video clips of our activities for all to see.

A lot had taken place quietly within last week and now. With the end of Ramadan on Sunday, most things will be clearer.

“Bakassi, land of our birth, we pledge to you, that neither silver nor gold shall dissuade us from taking you back. We did not choose the land of our birth neither did we choose our parents, Almighty placed us there, and we were uprooted in broad-day light, and hurrily so, by a President who was supposed to protect us.

May God prolong his life and protect his children ! Land of our birth, we love thee, Nigeria refused to protect thee; we are already there and ‘they’ know it not, waiting for time which will soon come.” These were the words of one Ekpe Ekpenyong Oku, who claims to be the warlord and Commandant General, Bakassi Self Determination Front on the agitation for a liberated displaced Bakassi people.

The atmosphere around the ceded oil-rich Bakassi Peninsula has been tensed while residents of Day Spring which is supposedly the rightful resettlement area have been leaving the place and it is now being guarded by some militant groups championing the declaration of independent Bakassi.

Already the militant group who spoke through their Commandant General, Ekpenyong Oku, had declared last Saturday, August 11, 2012 as Gen. Sani Abacha day where all Bakassi people and men and women of goodwill offered prayers in the afternoon for the repose of his soul and the souls of officers and men who lost their lives for the sake of Bakassi.

The self acclaimed ‘freedom fighters’ had directed their members to wear black bands while the Bakassi paramount ruler, His Majesty Etim Okon Edet was directed to appear in white wrapper and shirt and offer specific prayers to his forebears at 6am, 12noon and 6 pm.

The Commandant in a statement issued last week declared that Dayspring Radio station last week started test-run transmission on 4.2MHz and 5.2MHz shortwave band, hoisted its ‘national flag’ and further stated that “major declaration shall be made as we push forward. May God bless our people and renew their strength.”

He also said, “As the D-Day draws near, we call on all men of goodwill, individuals, human rights organizations and the indigenous people of Bakassi to join hands in resisting and fighting the present international conspiracy.

In a maiden broadcast, the Commander-General, Ekpe Ekpenyong Oku, said, “Please for the umpteenth time, we plead with our people to leave Abana now. The fight is going to be thickest and fiercest now that our brothers from Northern Nigeria have fully arrived. Our Eastern brothers are also here. If blood would be required to set the people free, take mine. As you confronted pharaoh, do so now.”

He warned all travelers on the sea to stay away from the area last Saturday, Auguast 11 and Sunday, August 12, 2012, it is not good to travel on the sea.

He said, “No sea movement so that you don’t have cause to regret. There shall be no movement of boats from Ikang or Marina beach to Cameroon on these two days. Be warned.” In a statement made available to newsmen in Calabar, Oku, had revealed that arrangements have been concluded with some international liberation groups to assist the Bakassi natives in the battle ahead.

He said, “Ours will be a classical story of the elephant and the ant. The elephant will be so harassed and will find no respite and will dash itself against a tree trunk, adding, “Throughout history, injured people have had to resort to arms in their self-defense where peaceful negotiations fail.

“Bakassi people are no exception. Our right to self-determination is imminent; some will die, but some will leave to reap from our labours,” the Commander-general stated.

It would be recalled that on July 9, 2006 in the wake of the Green Tree Agreement, a group under the aegis of Bakasssi Freedom Fighters had threatened to seek independence if Nigeria renounced sovereignty, but a few days to handing over of Bakassi to Cameroon in the government house in Calabar, Cross River State, the leader of the militant group, Comrade Tony Ene, died in a mysterious road accident along Calabar-Itu highway.

Ene and his group of Bakasssi Freedom Fighters had even hoisted the Bakassi flag with the rising sun as its symbol in Abana, headquarters of Bakasssi but this was repelled by the Nigerian government.

Already the BSDF had claimed that it has penetrated parts of the ceded Bakassi peninsula in their bid to get the land back. A post from the group’s Facebook wall by the Commandant General claimed they were already at Akpa Ukwak quite close to Akpankanya in the area.

Apart from the claim by the militant group that they have advanced towards some vital area of the ceded island, there have been no much military presence from the federal government within the disputed area. It was only few plain cloths security operatives that move around the area to monitor the unfolding events.

In an interview in Calabar, the Paramount Ruler of Bakassi His Majesty Etim Okon-Edet said “From what I have heard, the boys have entered Ekoi and have entered Akwa Ukwak and they have nearly entered Akpankaya which is near Abana.

“They have entered and no life is lost. It means that the gods are with them and I pray that the gods of the land should continue to be with them until the whole area is reclaimed quietly and silently,” he said.

The Bakassi Paramount Ruler had told the House of Representatives Committee on Treaty and Agreement that visited Bakassi stakeholders at the Council of Chiefs Chambers Calabar that , “Bakassi people have not been fairly treated by this nation and what we are looking for now that you have come is to go back to our area by any means possible .

“We don’t even want relocation any longer, we are going to take it by whatever means because we have been left astray for almost ten years now. Come to add to it they have taken our land, taken our resources so we now know that we are not wanted. I have just seen some people doing bomb, they have not seen bomb yet, what they are doing is a very small bomb.

“The process is one and we are going back to our area, we will take it by any means possible, in the days of old our fore-fathers use to have traditional means, we don’t have any problem with Nigeria our problem is with the cameroun that they must leave our area and they are going to leave very soon. Nigeria can go and leave us .there was Bakassi before political Nigeria and there was Bakassi before political Cameroun.

“People have been dreaming and planning on how to break Nigeria and people have been predicting that in 2015 Nigeria will break up and they have been looking for avenues to achieve this and Nigeria is opening its flanks to those things and so many things are happening unabated.

“Bakassi will be one of them and when anything happens there God almighty will exonerate us. When anything happens Nigeria will bear us witness that we have waited for long. We don’t have any problem with ICJ and I don’t want anybody to go and appeal any case because it will be waste of time and money we want to take our area out and we will do so and Nigerians will see with their two eyes that God is still on the throne.”

The prediction that the country may disintegrate in 2015 may come to fruition if the signals coming is not well handled from the federal government. However, it is still doubtful if the Bakassi Self determination Front will make use of their treat because apart from issuing press statements especially on the facebook, there is no serious sign that they mean business unlike some other groups like the MASSOB and MOSOP who seem to be visible.

Somehow atleast in this case the SSS was nice and tried to comply with the rules under such cases.See how soldier they behave. The NPF commissioner should have insisted that the right thing be done and that those who broke the law be made to suffer for it.
