Only 500k was reduced from what I eventually paid plus the 3 years tax certificates I tendered.

Was also told to write the LIRS chairman.

This country gives you more reason to just pack up and leave for good.

Those Government Agency, are fighting for their own pocket, I doubt if they remit all those crazy bill to government account.


They make everything tiring.

If there's nylon under before placing the interlocking stones,grasses can never grow in-between them...just make sure it's handled by professional installers

The PAYE Tax clearance issue is just simply a revenue drive by Lagos state government (and some other states are copying it too). Even with a PAYE tax clearance or history, They can still demand additional payment.

It is totally discretionary.

Some tax officer can simply decide that you need to pay more taxes to get permit clearance simply because they believe you need to pay up.

THEY BASICALLY SIZE UP TAX PAYERS

They demand whatever additional money they feel like you can do and hope you pay up or negotiate .It is a fact that LIRS has many employees/consultants that help people settle their arbitrary tax liablites

They are simply like the policemen at the side of the road extorting people. Just like the omo-onile that wont allow you drop material or do decking without "dropping money"

They seem to have more respect for retirees or long serving civil servants with long PAYE records. but they demand whatever they feel is appropriate.

Not an expert by any means , but all the challenges I have heard has to do with water entering due to so many reasons . Am confident in the engineer handling the projects that this will not be the case , in addition to the hidden roofs , also have roof terraces in 2 of the build, 1st build is in operation , no issues so far

Hoisting of the roof gutter into place just this afternoon on my third build

If someone claims there is a regulatory body , they don't even function.

Here is a bit of my experience.
Buying Pop Fillers is another oblivious Scam, The Major scam is the Scale for weighing the kg of the fillers. Vendors tweak their scale, Which means 20kg of fillers on their scale is originally 10/15kg, That's why some of them have two scales. While i was on a project in the Southern part, when I got to a Vendor's shop, I told her am not buying from the first scale, because I was raising my voice (which could alarm other customers) she took me to her office & showed me the Original Scale, which she offered at a higher price per kg.



I explained their tricks to some service providers like me.

When I gave a quote for the pop of this project about a week ago.. cement was 5800/6000 now is 7k per bag.. someone has to be careful given quote this day..

Hahaha naija no easy, years back I had a similar experience with government allocated land I bought in Abuja, after paying all government fee including ground rent back loge through AGIS. After a few years I went back to start developing. Suddenly the locals already take position and started farming on the land. On approaching them at the beginning I wanted to use enforcement and I realized it could be bloody. I was advised to drop the idea and work with them, they took me to their local chief. I couldn't believe they had procedures for that and while trying to negotiate with them they claimed the government took their land without compensating them. Cutting the story short in the process of negotiating they told me I had to pay 2k per every root of what their farmers planted there. When putting the numbers together it was about 70% of cost of the land. I just had to walk away and leave the land, back to base in largos. One thing that is clear is, they can't sale it's because is well documented in AGIS.

These happenings are not just right. I would blame the Government for that!
