With all due respect to Unizik in their current enviable standard,I wish to halt those who compare it to UNN in their self delusion.Pleasedont fall into such error.I graduated from UNN in 2008 and while in school,we usually wonder the basis for University rankings where u have LASU and many mushroom enclaves placed ahead of UNN.when it comes to research and scholarship, unn is in a class of its own by a long shot. Is it the class of lecturers, faculty, current state of facilities and international affiliations/exchanges and e-learning partnerships? Someone above me said unn lecturers aint selected on merit and I wonder where he got that from.did I hear u say past glory? Landlord travel and see. Please brothers let us celebrate the academic merits of our eastern universities and avoid the temptation of turning this discourse to the unhealthy skirmish that erupts any time a similtude of comparism between two climes surfaces. It is well with us. #teamunn:econs class of 2008# |
Definitely, anybody who thinks boys are "dry" and boring aint being real. While women are naturally wired to be xpressive and loquacious(chatter-boxes),men are more subdued and contemplative in their make-up.It has been proved over and again that money is an afrodisiac and the more money u have, the more difficult it may eventually be to avoid the bevy of ladies that will naturally swim around you.Brothers in d house who gat stacks of "greenbacks' before marriage, how did u manage to avoid being confused and pick the woman of ur dreams among the horde@ur disposal? Did u regret ur choice and above all,was the woman's economic background a factor in ur choice? Me thinks ladies from well-to do or middle income families have better exposure and approach to the money factor? #my opinion# Happy new year! |
harakiri: @davidylan. . . Richvkunt has said all that needs to be said plus it ain't about pretty faces and "assets" coz deep down, they are all the same (some are more subtle than others). And about "choosing carefully?" Dude, no man plans to marry a mad raving lunatic but women are unbeatable in pretense and deciet. A harlot on the street can transform herself into a jehovah witness god loving saint if she sees the right mugu to fall for it. All these men getting divorced all the world NEVER planned it that way and a lot of them "searched carefully" like you suggested, dated for years, studied her character, background and went all out private detective but in the end,$hhit happens man. Look, everybody believes there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and everybody believes they'll "get it right". I prefer to face the good, bad and ugly head on. No surprises. My signature on nairaland says it all. Nuff said! ! !. Golden insights, though with few exceptions.#thumbs up# |
Honestly,i wonder why u guys keep giving the troll on this thread a breadth of attention. He is merely here to whip up unnecessary issues. The thread is about showing the mansions we erect proudly in our villages.Morestill,i love it that this is Xmas when most of our people will be hitting home. Please those who will be travelling better snap gazzillion pics assault our fancies! @all ya who made this thread thick,I say may God bless una nyafu nyafu! #CC,Babymomma et al I must confess, the insight u guys gave so far were priceless.By sheer dint of divine insight,u took on the critical parts of marital life and dissected them with real life analogies, xperiences, practical guidelines and a touch of liberality.Don't bother so much if men don't comment on d thread.Haven't u noticed that women posses rare insight in marital/familal matters given their homely and cool headed disposition?.Men on the oda hand are too distracted to notice most of these.U guys have taught us more than a multiple marriage serminars could do. Am still single but hoping to tie d knots next year and I can boldly say that the ideas shared here so far can serve as my background marriage brochure! In all sincerity, the peace of every marriage is directly connected to how happy the woman is per time. I also feel elated when @babymomma and @cc spoke about the cultural foundation of their children.it is a breath of fresh air to know we still place a high premium on our children learning our language and living by d dictates of our progressive cultural values for their own self-worth/pride and identity in d midst of massive cultural corrossion and diffusion. Fear not! Just sustain the interest.in due time, they will learn. 2 of my first cousins both work with american navy and airforce respectively and they still found their way back to learn igbo language and culture after 31 years abroad.they aint doing badly as we speak.Finally@Babymoma,the joy and pride of being Igbo is second to none and I can relate with that.Plenty degrees no reach for where my language and culture dey o.May heaven bless us all...To be continued... |
Served in Jigawa 2010.Omo the journey from Enugu to Kano enroute to Jigawa na anoda matter altogether.Although I spent my hols in d north(previously),I must admit the desert and poverty I saw on my way to and in Jigawa took my breath away.Fast foward to camp.6ft 2,good looking, loaded pocket and dangling an enviable degreee from d prestigious first autonomous University in Nigeria,I fearless and quite conspicous in every crowd, iwas tailor made to lead.I became the Platoon 4 leader! Did I hear u say condom? Who dash monkey banana?! Omo konji nearly wound boys and the high handedness of the military rats made erotic escapades very dicey. However,I still sabi my manchie dem(Dapo,Emeka(namesake+sailor),Wande and Jerry) who still manage to get their groove on. Omo d platoon leader thingy na real suffer head. While odas were chilling in d dormitory,I dey waka the lenght and breadth of Gumel camp for one platoon related ish or another.Dat apart,I dread any day it was the turn of my Platoon to cook cos I must wake by 4am,cordinate my peps and ensure everything goes seamlessly. U will be wondering if I don't have female assistants? Hell I did but they were as inspiring as sagged boobs! Go figure!. Through my dedicated and committed leadership,we were still able to put up excellent shows in d kitchen vis cooking and sharing to the over 1,500 otondos in campt+the camp officials. Fast foward to sports! Since the last 21 years of NYSC in Jigawa, platoon 4 has never won a medal.Under my leadership,we won gold in football and volleyball and I threw a party for my peps in mammy market 2 days later.I forgot to remind that I came to camp with 150k determined to have a blast! Did I have flings in camp? Truth be told, there were more soji guys in camp than babes! Before u say Jack, the early birds took dem all before I could make a move The creamy babes were in so short supply and I no sabi chop frog abeg! I drown myself in alchohol and suya@mammy every night in d company of my jolly crew.A few flings came but nothing spectacular abeg. Then d killjoys came around...News started flying around that I cornered my platoon cash for my nocturnal boozing@mammy market! What?! The same platoon I literally sponsored with my dough when the miserable 200 naira per head they contributed could not even buy decent refreshment for my footballers?! Women are terrible! To think that the slander came from my deputies broke my heart! Terrible enof,my platoon officer bought the crap without investigation! The day for my justification finally came! On the carnival day,the platoon money had gone down to red.No help anywhere! I dipped my hand in my pocket and sponsor the purchases and the news flew around and of course my platoon members started asking questions abt the slander leveled against me! Account book was brought foward and it was discovered the platoon owe me documented 22k! Apologies and reprimands started flying around! Who cares?! Because of the slander and subsequent face-off with my Platoon officer, the shriveled punk made sure I was posted to his village as punishment!!! A platoon leader like me? How I went there and threw the posting letter to the face of the principal of one God-forsaken mockery of a secondary school is a story for another day! My downtimes in camp..Aside the slander/false accussation,I had blisters on d soles of my feet becasue of my endless waka from one end to another. To add salt to injury,I also had 2 massive boils on my anus and life became hell! God is alive indeed! One of the medical doctors in my platoon Juliet, administered drugs(antibiotics et al) to me and in 3 days am back to my vigourous and jolly self! To be continued... |
@Seru. Here is my story from birth..Take it as it is and pick whatever inspire u there. Like I stated above,I was born twins and premature(6 monts 3 weeks). My twin bros passed on 6 hours after conception. We looked so damn unreal that my mom still calls me in Igbo"eriri ghoro mmadu" translates; rope that turned to human beign"! We literaly looked very much like transparent polythene bags suffuced with wires and blood cloths and all dat.According to her ,I was incubated and was never lifted like a baby till I was 13 months old. Because of d complications my mom suffered@my birth, she didn't give birth again until 7 years later in a bid to recover and also have less distraction in taking care of me.I had d best childhood u can wish for. However,I grew up strong and rough such dat between d ages of 9-11 years I broke my arms twice; both compound fractures! I sustained various degrees of toe, leg, knee and bodily injuries owing to my restless nature! 32 years later, the marks are still very much visible! I converted mom and my aunties to nurses!...to be continued. |
=Secret_Dreams] That's a wonderful testimony, God will keep us strong IJN. Himself took up our infirmities..By his. stripes we were heald...by His knowledge shal many be made Holy....Like a sheep taken to the shearers,He went forth...He was chastised(punished) dat may have peace...God laid on Him d iniquity of us all...Oppressed yet he never opened His mouth...His soul was made an offering for sin dat He may have much more multitude of Children...His xperience shall make many righteous..etc etc etc. These are the very declarations of deity and captured the very and core essence of christianity which has nothing with what we do/did or deserved but the "impossible" love of God! These declarations are almost impossible to capture in its divine form. Am loss of words #teamiloveyoulord# |
I attended BLW UNN. The very first day I attended the fellowship was in February 2005 and the student pastor preached from Isaiah 53 and damn.... I've never heard a gospel so powerful!!.I must say that that encounter got me not only converted but revived my christian life 4ever.I never remained same and dat chapter of the gospel still hold me in awe till today! #in a mood of worship already;teamiloveyouLord# |
@OP Radiollo. U did a great work in showcasing the colourful culture and history of Awka "dynasty". U really enlightened us. @Nri Priest, with all due regard to ur ancestral dominance@a time in history vis the civilization that defined a lot of as Igbos that we identify with today,am absolutely sure from the write up so far, that the OP did not at any point downplay Nri supremacy/ merits relative to Awka history. If u guys don't moderate ur outbursts,it may soon get dirty and derail the value of dis beautiful thread. That we can show interest and document knowledge as this is a breathe of fresh air at a time our collective and individual cultural enghlightenement are under threat. Pls is there a documented record of ezechima's original ancestry? Is he by chance a descendant of eri who travelled out like igbo's won't to do only to trace his way back and found most of the towns in western igbo and onicha ado as well? Let peace reign here. Ekenem unu! |
How I stumbled on this tread(and NL sef),I no sabi! However,I guess it was God himself that led me to it. I painstakingly digested the 28 paged thread in 72 hours!Serubaba,God is with u and just like Job whose latter days dwarfed what ever he had afore,so shall urs be! I lack words to pour more blessings in ur life! U have officially become my brother(by fire by force..lol). To the rest of the gang,CC,Tgirl,Jennykadry,Uju,Prof" Analytically" ,Ikamfa, bellong,Omodaddy, etc etc etc,we all have also become family! Trust me am serious! U guys just created beauty fromm Ashes here and that is what d world lacks and yearns for. The other aunty(forgot ur handle) who had a premature baby(Leona) that later passed on,relax. Was born twins and premature too(barely 7 months).although my twin brother passed on 6 hours later,I survived and today am 6ft 1.5 inch, weighs 80 kg with an unbelieveable mental and physical verve! If I survived and become a blessing, then gear up cos u will still have ur precious babies no matter what ur biological condition may be. The story of my life will make u guys thank god more but I don't wanna bore the house. All I wanna say is,may heaven bless us all! #am out# |
cjrane: Wow !Hello Mr CJrane.Without meaning to sound rash,if your last sentence should be taken for what it meant here,so simply because you differ and even "fight" with your blood brothers,ur family vis ur brothers become losers and everything negative? Simply because some of our brothers here differ sharply and by dint of character tend to be divisive and violently so,then Igbos are losers and u are heading back to Ika land where the unfortunate crisis of identity will continue reigning supreme? Honestly,i will declare Igbos to be pretenders the day we stop having our differences.our greatness lies in our innumerable contradictions! I celebrate that!Guess what, try hurting or defaming an Igbo man in the presence of the same brother he was fighting with few moments ago and u will never forget the "combined" lashing! Therein lies our beauty. You chose to see the fights but u didn't see the many good natured Umunne who repeatedly call these "trouble makers" to order vis Igbo unity? Kindly retrace ur steps home bro.The new wave of Igbo unity sweeping gradually, albeit quietly all over the globe is a breath of fresh air and i call on articulate people like you to help bring our brothers on the western side of the Niger back to the fold,Just like the father of the prodigal son we are waiting with outstretched arms and tears of joy for u guys.At least ive met uncountable Anioma brethren who are proud of our noble race and have since dropped the toga of "i no be Igbo o"! It is well with u as i await ur reconciliation.Proudly and unapologetically Igbo! |

It baffles me how Nigerians dey change positions quickly like British weather.I could recall exactly this time last year,we dey dash people 3 zero,3:1,4:0 etc and playing our brand of football.Suddenly the inevitable that occurs in the span of every team happens and a loud section of the media and their pathetic followers(not forgetting the clueless NFF) called for the head of the coach forgetting that he inherited a team running on a deficit en-route to qualification.Keshi we wanted and Keshi we have and he must complete either this destructive or building mission. His contract got him covered.Next time when we see a better brand,we shall appreciate and apply wisdom/patience where needed.Sacking Sia1 and appointing Keshi is akin to a generational football suicide and a damnable act of self destruction.Take it or leave it,we all got what we deserved. This is just the beginning.Did i hear u say no more minnows in football?? plenty dey.Spain:5.Saudi Arabia 0.etc.(check goal.com).Morestill, we are yet to meet any reasonable opposition so far.Bigger games are ahead and i implore all lovers of S.E to acquire heavy dosages of sedatives and tranquilizers for the days of heart attack football is here with us.U cant give what u dont have! May God bless my County! #Diehardpatriot# |

abysirius: There's nothing like a bench warmer. God is not a man. He deals with our mind- what we have inside of us- and not what we want others to see or believe. If God has put it in ur mind to do something or assume a responsibility in d church and u do it, it's ok. But we must understand that if there are no congregation (listeners) the place of a pastor in the church will be useless. Believe me, God has called some to just come and listen so that they can go back and be blessing to others. Not joining any group in the church doesn't make anybdy a bench warmer. The most important question are: do u know why u're here? Hw is the church affecting ur life and u affecting the church. I do not need to belong to a group to learn hw to be a blessing to pple if God has blessed me with d capacity. Or u've forgoten d story of Mary and her sister Martha wen Jesus went to their home visiting. So much to learn... You are blessed my friend. The parable of the good Samaritan was a classic case of the abuse and misplacement we parade in the name of church. All the church leaders who walked past that battered man were all full church workers with bogus titles but where was their charity Buried in self glorification and self righteousness. It is better to be a "bench warmer" and be a genuine friend of God than to have my name written in the church hall of fame vis church works and miss heaven.Dont get lost in the frenzy of the church.Pursue your creator by meeting the needs of your brothers/sisters.Him who have ears let him hear. |
The poster created a thread for everyone of us to showcase our individual Alma Mata Alumni and like a volcano waiting to erupt, many folks on the tread already started doing what they know best(trashing whatever comes on board!!)Truth be told, the litany of UNN Alumni is intimidating as much as i know other Universities that have similitude of them. Please make this discourse healthy for LAWD's sake! ![]() |
Nkemsplendid: I grew up on campus at UNN. It was the perfect community, as kids we loved the place. Families would come back from overseas (where maybe a parent went for further studies)and would fit in immediately cos the environment was world class. The University school was more international than the wannabe Intl. schools they want me send me kids to today for N1m/term! Spider please spare some time to get us pics from Nsukka, thanks. Meanwhile who was dt guy talking abt hating Enugu wt a passion, you are free to but don't peddle lies pls. Wts all dt rubbish abt Enugu girls being love peddlers, get a life and go and bring up your children in Damaturu in silence.Babe i feel you die! I was also born, bred and buttered in the choice city of Enugu and just like you i had the best University Education in the choice University of Nigeria of course after a memorable stint at University Secondary school Enugu Campus.Hating Enugu is a choice, but it is needless cos i wonder who is not in love with ambiance and peace?? Enugu gals rock and the boiz are tripping.Let that hater send his/her wards to UNIMAID.Sucker!! |
What is more annoying?? the shameless way she cries at the slightest provocation, her unimaginably wowo face and the ease with which she spreads her bounties for that black chimp of a man called Prezzo! Not to talk of the bankruptcy of values embedded in the so called BBA game! All things being equal,9Ja has enough soji men and women to be winning the BBA game every year. She only succeeded in messing our rep.Ewu awusa!Wowo reloaded! |

Buried in self glorification and self righteousness. It is better to be a "bench warmer" and be a genuine friend of God than to have my name written in the church hall of fame vis church works and miss heaven.Dont get lost in the frenzy of the church.Pursue your creator by meeting the needs of your brothers/sisters.Him who have ears let him hear.
